Should I purchase the 16GB or 32GB iPad?

I'm looking into buying the latest iPad. I'm unsure of whether settling for the 16GB or going extra for the 32GB. I have about 5GB of music. I'm looking to have this iPad for reading books, magazines, maybe text books. I'm app crazy, so I love to buy apps. I don't think I'll use it as much for movies or television, maybe i will but very rarely. I do love to take photos so I would use it for the photos as well.

Probably ought to choose 32GB.

Hi! I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8, iTunes 10.6.3 on my Intel i3 iMac and should I purchase the latest iPad, would I be able to set up, synch and use it without iCloud? Also, would iWork files be interchangeable between the two bevices? And...could information from the Mac be transferred into iBooksAuthor? Regards Neil

You may need to update iTunes to iTunes 11 but you can do that running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I would recommend running iTunes 11 anyway. It is a bit different in the user interface, but it works the same that it did in 10.6.3.
You can transfer iWorks files back and forth without iCloud but you will need to use file sharing with iTunes. However, you will have to purchase the iPad versions of those apps becuse the Mac versions will not work on the iPad if you were thinking about using the Mac apps.
You can read about file sharing here
iWork for iOS: About iTunes File Sharing
Sorry, but I know nothing about iBooks Author.

I purchased a Slingbox HD and purchased the app for my iPad 2. I am wondering if I can load the app on my old iPad without having to pay $30 again?

Where did you download the app from?
I can't find it at the iTunes app store. If you downloaded the app directly from the app developer's site, you need to contact them.

  • Should I get the 16gb or the 32gb iPad?

I need to decide if I should get the 16GB or the 32GB iPad, I'm not sure if it's worth it to shell out another $100 for the extra space! Here's some info:
I only have about 1gb of music and pictures on it.
I will only have 1 movie or 2-3 episodes on it at one time, for travelling occasions only.
I plan on storing around 20 books on it, and eventually more.
I'm going to have a lot of apps. And I mean, a lot.
So, I'm mainly going to be using it for apps, books, and web surfing. Will 16GB be enough? (Also, do you think the white color will turn yellowish and fade over time, or stay white?)
    Thank you,
    Cate

It's a personal decision, but here's my thinking and why I decided to get the 16 GB WiFi:
I was on a budget. And for the extra $100, I bought the Smart Cover and two years of accidental damage protection from Square Trade. Protecting my iPad from the rigors of my studio and classroom and travel was more important to me than extra storage space to keep things I don't need to access.
I am consciously trying to work more and store work more in the cloud. I have MobileMe and DropBox for document and photo storage. (And FLICKR). I don't need or want to store a lot of photos on my iPad.
I have a laptop with an external hard drive with--I don't know, 300 GB or so?--of music and movies. I feed my iPod regularly. I don't need to carry around a ton of music. I just keep the stuff I'm currently listening to on my iPad.
Most of my audiobooks are accessible from Audible. My digital books are accessible from Amazon/Kindle. I don't need to carry around all of my audiobooks or digital books.
I knew that I wanted to play around with A TON of drawing and notebook and related creative apps.
So here I am with a lot of apps (the main component of my iPad's capacity), a couple of movies, a couple of TV episdoes, some music, some photos, a LOT of digital books (accessibility to Amazon notwithstanding) and I still have 8 GB free. So, for me I made the right choice.
Also, I figure that if and when I want a higher capacity iPad, there will be a lovely new version, and I can easily sell this one and upgrade.
(Also, do you think the white color will turn yellowish and fade over time, or stay white?)
The white will most definitely stay white. It's completely encased under the glass screen material, which goes all the way to the edges.

  • I mistakenly clicked to purchase the HD version of Downton Abbey. I have lite internet access! I should have purchased the SD version instead. Can I cancel the purchase and go back to buy the SD version?

Is it possible to cancel the purchase - it says that there are 11 hours left just to download episode one!!!

When you purchase an HD movie or show, in most cases the SD copy can be downloaded from your purchases area in iTunes. On the main iTunes Store page, go to Purchases under the Quick Links and then select Movies or TV shows as appropraite. Click the "Not On This Computer" button. Uncheck the "Download HD when available" box and you should then see the SD copies of the movies/shows and be able to download them.
Note that with digital copies from a Blu-Ray or DVD, if it comes with an HD copy, you normally cannot get the SD copy as well and have to purchase it separately if you want it.
    Regards.

  • Which iPhone 5C should I go for: 16GB or 32GB?

    Hello,
I was wondering if it was possible to gain some advice and opinions on which memory size iPhone 5C is more suitable for my needs and is it worth getting the 32GB?
On top of my contract, for £80 I can get the 16GB or for £140 I can get the 32GB, but is it worth the extra £60?
My main function for having the phone would be to use the messaging, call, calendar and email features. I wouldn't put that much music on my phone as I use my iPod for that reason. I currently have about 1000 photos on my current Samsung, however that is mainly on my SD card, which can obviously be transferred to my PC, and does not need to be transferred to my new phone. I do have a fair amount of apps, i.e. social networking apps, but rarely do I download games.
Based upon my usage, will I be able to manage sufficiently with a 16GB phone or is it best to spend the extra money and go for the 32GB?
Thanks for your help and advice!

Go with the 32GB. Frankly, Apple shouldn't even be selling the 16GB model as it's too easy to fill up and no longer get updates. Go with the 32 and pretend the 16GB model doesn't exist.
To address your situation, you can probably get away with the 16GB. But I'd hate to see you run short on space which is too easy to do on the 16GB model.

  • Should I drain the battery of NEW iPad to 0 before fully charing it or not?

I am first time New iPad owner and I like to find out if i should complete drain the battery on the new iPad before giving it a full charge or just charge it right out of box for a better battery life in the long run. I think i read it somewhere that I should fully charge a NEW iPad for a better battery life, but I forget if i should drain all the battery (my ipad already has 92% battery life when turned on) on it before charing for the first time or just charing it right away for a full charge.

If it needs charging then charge it. Don't worry about it. There's nothing specific you need to do.

  • When should I purchase the Creative Cloud?

My Mac crashed not too long ago and I am currently borrowing a PC to get me through until I can purchase a new Mac. I have all of my .exe files to transfer from my old Mac to my new one, just in case, however, if I purchased the Creative Cloud now, and downloaded a couple of applications for use now, would I be able to transfer those applications to the Mac when I get it?

if I purchased the Creative Cloud now, and downloaded a couple of applications for use now, would I be able to transfer those applications to the Mac when I get it?
    Yes, of course.
Cloud software can be used on Mac and/or PC. You just need to sign in with your Adobe ID then download and install the software on each computer individually.
You can install, activate/deactivate the software on any computer at any time. The only condition is that you cannot activate the software for use on more than two computers simultaneously.

  • Should I purchase the SSD model?

I have decided that the Macbook Air meets my needs but am wondering if the extra $300 for the faster processing speed and the SSD is worth it. The one advantage that seems obvious is having no moving parts. I also hear that the SSD is faster reading, but slower writing. I am interested in people's comments, especially those who went for the SSD.
    John

When the first Air came out I purchased the HDD. It was so slow I returned it and forked over the extra for the SSD. I have upgraded since then but the SSD was worth every penny. I know benchmark tests will show you numbers but my wife has a one generation-removed 15" MacBook Pro. She used my Air the other day to access a website and remarked on how "slow" her computer is. I am very happy with the Air and the SSD. It is fast and quiet. If you can afford the extra it is worth it as the SSd Air seems much faster than the HDD.

  • Should i buy the iphone 5 or ipad mini retina display(  a low end phone for calling) ??

i m a college student and i travel by train. Usually i check my mails, whatsapp ,etc while travelling and hanging out. Can the ipad mini replace my old phone in terms of these purposes?

Really, only you can decide. I'd suggest going to your local Apple Store and playing with both devices. Get a feel for screen size. The iPhone has a very small screen. Many people do not consider it ideal for reading. On the other hand, some people don't like carrying two devices and therefore go with the iPhone.
Keep in mind that, for what you want, unless the trains you ride have WiFi, you're going to need the iPad with Cellular which will add to the price.

  • 16gb or 32gb iPad mini?

I'll put up to 100 songs, 2,000 photos and a few 5-minute videos. I'll put about 100+ apps.

My suggestion is to buy as much memory as you can afford. Data has a habit of expanding to fill it.

  • If I purchase the Ipad2 Wifi in Australia can i still update it in the uk?

    Hi,
I am looking to purchase the 16gb wifi Ipad 2 whilst in Australia. In about 9 months when I return home to the UK will it work ok? Will I still be able to receive updates etc?
    Thanks!

You will, but be advised of the following:
    1.  If you set it up on a computer with iTunes in Australia and you sync to that compyuter, you'll need the same computer and iTunes account when you come back to the UK.
    2.  The App Store in Australia and the UK are different.  You'll need a credit card registered in Australia in order to download and buy apps from the Australian App Store.
    3.  When you go to the UK. some of the apps you purchased in Australia may not be available in the UK.  And, you'll need to have a credit card registered in the UK, in order to purchase and download Apps in the UK.
    4.  iPads sold in the US are not carrier locked.  But I don't know if that is true in Australia, so before you purchase one, make sure you are not getting one that is carrier locked.
    5.  If you buy a 3G model, it would be best to buy the GSM (requiring a Micro Sim) model as opposed to the CDMA model, unless you know in advance that CDMA service is available in the UK.
It's late and my mind is beat.  There may be other things you should consider, but this is a good beginning.
