Should we be building apps with R1(11.1.1.7) or R2(11.1.2.x)

Usually the higher version either have more features and bug fixes than Lower version, this is not the case for ADF, recently ADF R1(11.1.1.7) is getting more features than R2(11.1.2.x). ex(table Pagination List view some DVTs etc..)
I think we need some direction from ORACLE. I hope some one from ORACLE can answer this.
If this keeps continuing we seriously have to consider downgrade the version of our apps..

The 11.1.1.* versions are a full fusion middleware versions that are in synch with SOA/WebCenter/BI components - they are also the versions used for Fusion Apps - and are also the versions hosted on the Oracle Cloud.
So if you need any of the above integration points you should use the 11.1.1.* builds.
You can think of the 11.1.2.* branch as our 12c preview version - it is Java EE/ADF only release - and it is based on some of the underlying architecture (OSGi) and specs (JSF 2.0) that we are using in 12c.
It is out there because we wanted to give people who only do Java EE or just ADF apps access to some of the new features we have.
Some of the features you saw popping up in 11.1.1.7 are backports of ADF features that we introduced in 12c - and for customers who use 11.1.2.* branch those will be available when 12c release - which should be to far down the road now.
If you already have an app build on 11.1.2.*, I wouldn't suggest going back to 11.1.1.* at this stage, but rather wait for 12c, and expect to see there everything you see in 11.1.1.7, and more.

No phonegap.js on site root and other problems building apps with phonegap

Hi all,
I'm starting to develop some apps with dw cs5.5 but I encounter several problems here.
I just installed the Jquery mobile update (using the official adobe extension) and now every new project I start (using the mobile + phonegap template) I see there is no phonegap.js file in the site root.
And when I see the page using 'live' options I see the page rendered correctly but then, when I click on a subsequent page (page 2, page3 or page4...), no back button appears on the header.
what can I do to restore a productive environment?

I just uninstalled the jquery mobile update and now the BACK button is BACK.
No phonegap.js file yet....
any idea why the phonegap.js is not there yet?

Error 10 when building app with Report Generation _wordsub.llb in the project.

Error 10 occurred at ABAPI Dist Copy Non-VI Files.vi -> ABAPI Dist Build LLB Image.vi -> ABAPI Copy Files and Apply Settings.vi -> SDBEP_Invoke_Build_Engine.vi -> SDBUIP_Build_Invoke.vi -> SDBUIP_Build_Rule_Editor.vi -> SDBUIP_Item_OnDoProperties.vi -> SDBUIP_Item_OnDoProperties.vi.ProxyCaller
This is the error I get when a set up _wordsub.llb to use of report generation in a build project.

Build app with ODT and Oracle UDT - Error while creating custom class

Hello CShay,
I am testing you sample code to create UDT with ASP.Net app. It is also published in Oracle magazine.

I am able to successfully implement all the steps before "Using Custom Class Wizard". When I right click on any of the object (CUSTOMER_OBJ, PHONELIST_OBJ, and ADDRESS_OBJ) and select Generate Custom Class, I get the following error:
Oracle custom class wizard.
Class can be generated only for either C#, VB or Managed C++ projects.
Am I missing any thing?

Yes I confirm that I choose File->New Website.
I don't see the following option
File -> New Project, and then under Visual C#, select ASP.NET Web Application
I am using VS2005 Professional Edition.
The options I see under Visual C# are:
If I click on
Windows tab:
Windows Application
Windows Control Library
Console Application
Empty Project
Class Library
Web Control Library
Window Servcie
Crystal Report Application
and Search Online Templates in My Templates tab.
Couple of options for Smart Device which also doesn't include ASP.Net
then Database, Starter kits and Office tabs which also doesn't include ASP.net thing.
I don't know how did you see that option or you might be using different version of VS (Enterprise).
But right now I am stuck.
Please provide me your valuable comments.

We are planing to use oracle 9iAS application server(Enterprise version)to build portal application.
Can someone suggest me which one should i use, building portlets with j2ee or building portlets with PL/SQL.
what are the advantages of web providers over database providers?which one is the best way of building portlets.

I've been using Portal for years now, and I'm still developping in PL/SQL. It's very simple and quick to developp. I'm even not using any database providers, I'm just invoking my procedures via their URLs with some Ajax hidden components, and I could developp some screens like employees vacations managements, trombinoscope, portal statistics, etc ...
I learnt at Oracle how to developp some "true" portlets with DB providers but it's not usefull for me at this time as I don't need portlet customization etc.
BUT
if I had to developp a really big project with several developpers I would use DB providers.
And maybe I would use Java but it takes rather long time to be efficient with this language and it needs to be a realy big project for I start using this language. And as explained above Java offers more compatibility with 3rd party products.
And last but not least, one has to know what Oracle is more and more dealing with Java, the next 11g version that has just released is much more using Java than 10g does, and that's true for every Oracle products.
So it's just a matter of skill and time.

Flash Builder 4 with Flex SDK 4.0 for Intel App Up

There is some misinformation on Intel AppUp and the Melrose FAQ about being able to publish with Flash Builder 4.

Is the Intel App Up statement correct? If it is, could I get an explanation why? I've been waiting for the last 3 months waiting for the Melrose SDK to deploy to Intel App Up and now I can't even submit my application.

The current version of Melrose supports Flex 3.5 SDK for AIR applications running on AIR 1.5.3 runtime or higher. You can use Adobe Flex Builder 3 with Flex 3.5 SDK or Adobe Flash Builder 4 with Flex 3.5 SDK.
Support for Flex 4.1 SDK for AIR applications running on AIR 2.0 runtime should be available within a few weeks. Please note that we will not be able to support Flex 4.0 SDK because of certain technical challenges.

Linux app builder hangs with daqmxbase 1.5.0-f2

Having a problem building apps on linux using daqmxbase 1.5.
Test machines are:
A fresh installation of Suse 9.2 (kernel 2.6.8) on a Dell SC420 to which I added Labview 7.1, Appbuilder and daqmxbase 1.5.0-f2. Building our app fails on the "Copying files to application" part - the progress bar hangs at about 40% complete. The Labview windows become unresponsive, disk i/o stops and the process has to be killed.
I tried building some of the NI examples to pin down a possible issue with our vi but the same thing seems to happen with any example that has a daq component.
Normalize Waveform example - builds and runs fine
Signal generation and processing example - builds and runs fine
Our app - hangs
USB-6008/9 Interactive Control Panel - hangs
Count digital events buffered continuous ext clk example - hangs
In case there was an issue with Suse or 2.6.8 I tried a fresh install of Redhat 9 (2.4.20) on a different box, added labview, appbuilder, daqmxbase 1.5 and the same thing happens - the builder hangs.
Figuring that the builder might need some hardware in order to build an app properly I also gave it a shot with a USB 6009 plugged in - same result.
Being new to labview I'm unsure whether there are any specific log files I can provide that will help track down this problem - /var/log/messages has nothing.
Any ideas?

I've tried different kernels (the machines are P4 w/HT so the installer defauls to an smp kernel). Currently running linux 2.6.8-24.10-default #1 Wed Dec 22 11:54:27 UTC 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux. I've tried various other smp and non-smp kernels.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Labview, app builder and daqmxbase in various sequences. I've even reinstalled the entire Suse 9.2 OS and played with various grub and BIOS options. I've tried with the vanilla OS install and after applying the available patches through YaST.
I should point out that the app runs fine in Labview itself and compiles without errors on Windows.
There were no errors reported when installing Labview or daqmxbase and nothing in the system log.
I'm at a complete loss. The app builder fails every time, on different boxes, and it 100% reproducable.

Is there a way to build an App with CS5.5 that can run in older iPods

Hello
Does anybody know if there is a way to build an app with flash CS5.5 that can run in older iPods?, just like with CS5?
Each IPA I build with CS5.5 cannot be installed in my iPod 8GB with iOS 4.2 and before with CS5 I could install all the IPAs there and test.
The lack of support to iPod 8GB would be limitating for the market and sales...
Is there some setting to build IPA to older iPods?

AIR 2.7 release notes:
AIR runs on "iPodTouch 4th generation iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4iPad".
But:
AIR 2.7 runs on iPod Touch 3rd Generation, too - but only on the 32GB and 64GB models. The 8GB model is in fact only an older 2nd gen iPod Touch.
We tested this and we even have some apps in the app store running on the iPod Touch 3rd gen.

How do I build an IOS newsstand App with AS3 for iPad? I will not need any updates for this app. It will be just a pdf magazine inside, same contents forever.
I cant find any tutorials/introduction on how to build this.
I get the idea on how to create normal ios App, but creating Newsstand App really confussed me.

The in-app subscription is something you're going to have to tackle. Are you selling this magazine on a subscription basis? If you are selling it, things can get tricky or possible. I'm not fluent on the latest in-app purchase integration or if there is any planned integration. A look on the ANE download page (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/native-extensions-for-air.html) doesn't show any ANE support for it. You could google around for an ANE that supports in-app subscriptions of course.

How to build database driven mobile apps with dreamweaver and phonegap?

I'm searching the easiest way to implement a simple database in my app.
I can build application with php/mysql in seconds with dreamweaver.
But how can I do something similar with dreamweaver cs5.5 and phonegap for mobile apps?
I would like to create a little app that pulls data from a mysql database on my webserver.
But it seems that dreamweaver/phonegap/jquery mobile work only with HTML files.
I searched the whole web for a day now but I haven't found anything easy to recreate.
Is there a tutorial that explains the basic of database for mobile in dreamweaver?
It seems a bit limitating to use dreamweaver to build only static/useless apps....
What about forms and data validation?

Also, if you want to take it a step further, you can create & manage a 'local database' without having to access anything remotely - basically handling everything at the client's end.

Tap Settings > General > International. Make sure the Region Format is correct.
As for your Apple ID. Tap Settings > Store > Apple ID > iForgot
Resetting your Apple ID may help.

I get the Adoble ID for signing in, which is the valid email that I then use to sign in to folio builder and producer
such as [email protected], but for the Apple in-app purchasing they use a reverse domain structure one for the length the subscription will last, (in my case 1 year) so I use info.aq2.publication.annual and then the 2nd non-consumable I create a product ID for each publication ie info.aq2.publication.winter11. These later 2 reverse domains are what I've put in the viewer builder.
So what I'm not understanding yet is how I link an individual Apple ID to a folio in Folio producer
so sign in to folio producer, with [email protected]
do I use the Apple ID (reverse domain structure) in the folio name?
In Folio producer I will have all of my quarterly folio's
will it be
Folio Name                              Publication Name          Folio Number          Etc
