Show the 3 characters of a characteristic in BEX

Hello,
In Query designer ,I want to create variable which hold characters of 0material_prodhier from 6 to 9.
I want  user to select three characters of 0material_prodhier from 6 to 9.
How can I handle it?
With a formula variable?

Hi Arun, thanks for your answer. But can you give more detail in answers
1.How can I use short text?
We want user to enter 3 numbers that is in middle of 6 and 9 characters of 0material_prodhier.
2.I can not create a new characteristic and update rules.Because we can not change the model. We have a very huge data in the infocubes also.
3.How can I create a virtual characteristic and use it
in variable selection screen.
Also I create a new formula variable using 0material_prodhier characteristic.Attribute change with key.And offset start from 0006 ,offset length is 3.
Can I use this variable in the report?

  • Field Explorer in Crystal Reports does not show the same names as Bex Query

    Hi
I have crystal reports, I can retrieve data from BW Bex Query. But in the field explorer it does not show the names as in the Bex query designer.
In the Bex query designer a field will have the following technical name 0Debitor and the description is Customer.
It shows in crystal reports in the field explorer twice as D[0DEBITOR]D and D[0DEBITOR]D. It also does not seperate key figures and characteristics.
I would like it to display the field explorer as shown in this blog.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    take a look here:
    /people/ingo.hilgefort/blog/2008/02/19/businessobjects-and-sap-part-2
make sure you are using the MDX Driver and what happens is that you will see several fields per characteristic. example: one for the key, one for the description, several if modelled for the display attributes

  • Show / Hide characteristic in Bex Web

    Hi,
since we use a fixed Template without the possibility to choose the characterstics / key figures from the
Navigational Menu the question is if its possible to show / hide a characteristic in Bex Web via a button in the template.
    Thanks for help,
    Marco

    Hi Marco,
That functionality is not present in the Button. But there is a way to acheive this.
All you need to do is create two different queries, one showing the characteristics and other query without characteristics(hiding the characteristics).
           Then do the following steps:
    1. Goto Design mode and Place a button For Showing the Characteristics.
    2. Then in cmd type, choose 'Data Provider Specific Command'.
    3. In the Next window, choose 'Assign Query' and select the query that show the characterisitcs.
    4. Then give finish and give the Description as "SHOW CHARACTERISTICS".
    5. Then place another button in for hiding the char.
    6. Perform the 2nd and 3rd steps, but while selecting the query chose the one that hiding the characteristics.
    7. Then give the Description as "HIDE CHARACTERISTICS".
So, if you click the SHOW button, it will show you the query that displaying all the characteristics and vice versa if you click the HIDE button.
It will help you to solve the issue. Let us know if any further issues.
Assign points if it helps you.

  • Crystal didn't show the BEx query Attributes description changes/Values

We experiencing the BEx query attributes/crystal report  issue.
I create a crystal report using BW- BEx query. Bex query displays the attributes values. But in crystal report side it didn;t show up the values as well as description changes.
But If I change the display properties of attributes (different from one attribute to another) the crystal report reflect the values. But crystal report didn't show the Attribute description changes , the one i did it in BEx query side.
    Example:
Bex has a Masterdata as well as attribute Field1, Field2 etc.. I changed the description like Field_Test1 and Field_Test2. Also I changed the display property for Field_Test1 is Key and text and long , Field_Test2 is Text & LOng text.
I  got the attribute values is crystal report Xi R2. But crystal didn't reflect the description changes?

  • How to show the units separately in BEx reporting

My Bex reporting shows the units along with keyfigures. Say 15.45Kgs. i would like to show the units separately in a column. Pl tell me how to do it.

    Hi,
you can do it. follow the below steps.
    1) create a calculated key figure by assigning the function NODIM to the base key figure (NODIM<base key figure).
    2) Drag and drop the unit info-object ( the unit info-object that is used in the key figure definition) in the rows section.
    3) Hide the base key figure.
    Hope it helps.

  • Data aggregation by the 2 first characters of a characteristic

    Hi,
in a query, i'd like to extract the two first characters of a characteristic and aggregate a key figure.
For example, i have the characteristic material number and the quantity.
    Mat numb      0Qty
    01AAAA         1
    01BBBB         1
    01CCCC         2
    02AAAA         2
    02DDDD         3
    AATTTTT        3
Here is the result i want :
    Mat numb      0Qty
    01                 4
    02                 5
    AA                3
i can't use the selection condition because i don't know what is the value of the 2 first Characters. i don't want to modify the infocube by adding a new characteristic?
Is there any regular expression in the selection condition i can use ( for ex : for characteristic Material Number, select the first character between 0 and A and the second between 0-A and *) ?
Do i have to do it by using a user exit ?
    Thanks for your help.

When I did that it juts brought over the text from the table of contence.  I thought maybe that was needed. So I deleted what was their before and replaced it with what popped in.  I did the same for the section pages.  Just to see what happened.  It brought in the section numbers and it did pretty much the same. I'm fine with relabeling my pages to match. The table of contents.    I still would like that first chapter page in the table of contents to actually link to the page if possible.  It still not linking right.

  • Increasing the number of Characters in a Characteristic

    Hello there,
We are trying to increase the number of characters in a characteristic (CT04) from 30 characters to about 50 characters. Is there a SAP OSS note that we can implement in ECC6 to enable us to make this work for us ?
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,
    Now i get your requirement.
I have seen similar arrangements being used at a project for maintaining document location in characteristics.
But they don't maintain complete path in the characteristics. They have maintained certain codes for repetitive paths.
Say you want to select path X:\Intranet\Common Folders\Documents\Store1\ , the code would be Doc_Store1. And Doc_Store1 can be stored in characteristics Values.
Another way i can think of is mainatianing 2 Characteristics. In this way you may select the path upto defined length(less than 30 chars) in 1st Characteristic(Main Path)(X:\Intranet\Common Folders\),
    and remaining path in 2nd Characteristic(Sub Path)(Documents\Store1\).
And the module is Cross Application module so modifying the std field is not recommended. We had to find out work around solutions in our case and at some places inform client about its limitations.
    Thanks & Regards
    Abhishek

  • Can I make my iPhone show the total number of characters in a SMS message?

    Hiya,
Just wondering if there is any setting I can turn on to show the number of characters I have typed in a text message (ie. up to 160 characters are included in each text)?
    Cheers!

Settings>Messages>Character Count On. You won't see it right away, but when you are about to complete the first line, you'll see something like 34/160 in small type over the send key.

i am Unable to trace this
    any help plzzz
    Anil

    Hi,
since Quantity(units PC??) can not be in decimals,Bex will round off 1.5 to 2 in bex report.
Use NODIM function i.e. NODIM(Qty) instead of Quantity.
NODIM function is available under data functions of Formula builder.
From context menu fo KF structure>new formula>NODIM(Qty).
    or
try by setting Decimal places to  2 or 3 in KF properties in Bex Query.
    hope this helps.

  • Bex not showing the Exact decimal values

    Hi,
I have a situation here where I created a formula variable Average. I have declared that formula with the help of one replacement path variable.
Now My question is when i execute the query, I am seeing the values for that formula varibale but these are getting rouding off.
let say if I the result of the formula varibale is 3.2 it is rounding off to 4.
formula variable is 2.8 it is rounding to 3.
I have checked the query properties by putting the decimal places, but still it is showing the same. I have also gone through the forums and I understood that we need to maintain values in T006 or goto SPRO and maintain Unit of measure there you have to give No of decimals. But here my question is what UOM i need to consider because its just a formula which contains numbers 3, 4, 5 and it is calculating on those. those values are nothing but the feedback survey results.
can anyone let me know how should i procced with that. whcih UOM should i consider and also what is the ISO code to be maintained? or is there any another solution for my problem where i can see the decimal places.
    Thank you !!!

    Hi,
select the number under unit/currency while creating the formula variable.
then check the query in RSRT.

  • Global change to the display way of characteristic - key & text

    Dear Experts,
All over my queries, 0PROFIT_CTR displayed by default as Key (partially compounded) & Text.
Is there a way to change it globally to Key (not compounded) & Text ?
I didn't find any setting regarding the Key display on RSA1..
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Ron Lampel.

The example Kamlesh points out is work-around method that certainly will get the job done for you.  The other way would be to add the report to a custom web template and in there, under Web template Parameters, you have to pre-define a SET_PRESENTATION command.  You can read about it here:
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/43/d8c6dcc0700235e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/43/d8c6dcc0700235e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm]
At least this is the only thing I've found.. I'm kind of in the same boat with not being given a whole lot of options in how you would like a Characteristic to display on a report in the BEx Query Designer.  In my case, we have a characteristic set to use a Hierarchy.  If you run the report and drop down the FILTER drop-down to filter on the characteristic, and it's showing the Hierarchy Node display, it doesn't just show the Hierarchy Parent/Child values.. it also has every ATTRIBUTE that's set to be navigational displayed on the same lines as it's parent value.  Some chars, like 0CUSTOMER, have a LOT of Attributes.  I can set a PERSONALIZATION up for myself at run-time and take those attribute values away from the display, but gone is the option to remove it at the DESIGN level.. it does not exist in the front-end nor back-end (at least what I could find).  It looks like SAP took a lot of options away.  It may be more efficient in terms of the program itself being more optimal, but removing those features actually hurts more than it helps, especially for companies who need to display certain characteristics outside of the "norm".
I haven't gotten the above link to work in my situation yet, but that's what I've found that sais you should be able to do what it is your doing.

  • Strange issue in ListBox - Showing the 'id' contents and not from 'Values'.

    Hi,
I have created a custom table control that looks exactly like in 'Partner Tab' of Sales Order. It has Partner type, Partner, Name etc columns. For 'Partner type' column, I am calling function module 'VRM_SET_VALUES' so it shows as 'Sold-to party' , Ship-to Party' instead of SP, WE etc. This works fine.
However, before I display this table control, in PBO,  I am populating Partner Type and partner # and passing it to table control columns. It should show like 'Sold-To party' in 'Partner type' column and '0000014' in 'Partner' column. I see Partner # populated correctly, however, instead of showing 'Sold-To party' in 'Partner type' column , it is showing like SP, which is the 'id' value from function module 'VRM_SET_VALUES' . What should I do so it shows the description(content from 'Values' and
    not from 'id' ) ?
    Niranjan

    Thanks for the response.
I had tried converting to text and pass from Internal table to Table control on screen in PBO, however, the width of the column is only 2 characters, so it will display just 2 characters text.
I am wondering how SAP is able to code to show TEXT in 'Partner tab' in Sales Order. I have pasted the contents below from 'Partner tab' of sales order. I debugged the code in program SAPLV09C and screen 1000 and somehow they are populating the text as shown in 'PARTNER FUNCTION' below instead of codes like SH, SP. If I press F1 on field, I see SDPARTNERLIST-PARVW as the field name and the width is 2 characters.
    PARTNER FUNCTION        PARTNER #      NAME
    Sold-to party                         79269     XYZ CONSTRUCTION

    Bill-to party                          79269     XYZ CONSTRUCTION
    Payer                          79269     XYZ CONSTRUCTION
    Regional Salesman            430     MARK
    Ship-to party                          219763     S.A.G. PROPERTIES
    Cont Person >Bill-To     80296     DENNIS
    Cont Person >Sold-To     80296     DENNIS

  • Why Outlook email messages show unreadable characters

When you receive a new email in Outlook, you may see unreadable characters in the email message body. This issue could be caused by one of the following reasons on Outlook client side:
The email you received is converted to plain text format or a different encoding by a virus scanner.
This always happens when you are using characters (Such as apostrophes, double quotes, dashes, and ellipsis) supported by the "Smart Quotes" feature. When the email you received is converted to plain text format or a different encoding by a virus
scanner, the character is converted from the ASCII character to a Unicode character, which is not supported on the recipient’s side.
To prevent this issue from happening, we can turn off the “Smart Quotes” Feature in Outlook:
    1. Open Outlook 2013.
    2. Click File > Options > Mail.
    3. Click Spelling and AutoCorrect button.
    4. In the Editor Options window, click AutoCorrect Options button to open the AutoCorrect dialog.
    5. Click AutoFormat tab, and then clear the check box before “Straight quotes” with “smart quotes” under Replace heading.
    6. Click OK.
The issue may be related to font substitution when a change is made to the Web Options in Microsoft Word.
If a change is made to the Web Options in Microsoft Word, registry data under the following key may be configured incorrectly:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Internet\Fonts
This problem has been seen to occur when the Latin string value under the \Fonts key was empty (no value).
We can check the Web Options setting in Word via:
    1. Start Word.
    2. Go to File > Options > Advanced.
    3. Scroll down to the General section, click Web Options button.
    4. Switch to Font tab.
To resolve the problem, we need to delete the \Fonts registry key. To do this, please follow:
    1. Exit Word.
    2. Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type regedit and press Enter.
    3. Navigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Internet\Fonts
    4. Right-click the Font key and select Delete.
    5. Click Yes and exit Registry Editor.
The sender used an e-mail program that did not mark messages with a language encoding (character set), or marked messages with an incorrect encoding setting.
In this case, we will see unreadable characters when we open the received message in our Outlook. For example, European regional characters (like German) require UTF-8 encoding protocol. So if the encoding in your environment is set to ASCII, the regional
    characters will not be available.
To resolve this issue, we need to change the encoding in Outlook to which will display your message correctly.
    1. Double-click to open the message you received.
    2. Click Actions button in the Move group under Message tab.
    3. Click Other Actions > Encoding.
    4. Click More and select the correct encoding setting for the email.
    5. After you finish reading the message, close the message, and click Yes button to save changes to the message.
When we send an email with Outlook, we can set Outlook to automatically select encoding for outgoing email messages to increase the possibility that the recipient receiving the message will see all the characters rendered properly, even if they run older
e-mail programs. By default, Outlook 2013 will automatically select an optimal encoding for outgoing e-mail messages. We can change the settings here in Outlook 2013: File > Options > Advanced > International Options section.
Something you may need to know when you set the encoding settings:
    * The Unicode (UTF-8) character enables the complete range of characters on all computers. It’s the official IANA code for the UTF-8 character encoding.
    * Western European (ISO) and Western European (Windows) character set can be read by almost all computers.
    * If you are using a language other than English, you must choose the correct character set for that language, or the characters you need will not be displayed correctly.

The "problem" is not really a problem. I send and receive emails fine. But the in the panel between the Inbox (message queue) and the reading pane this is displayed:

This glitch is not really bothersome, I just can't imagine why it happens.

You could just try changing your Input Sources under System Preferences>Language & Text:
But I kind of doubt that's going to work. It may be a hardware problem or a system problem. If you take it into Apple they might be able to determine which and might advise a reinstallation of System software. I would take it to an Apple Store or an AASP but, first, make sure that you have a backup just in case they suggest a clean install of the system.
    Good luck,
