Shuffle's remote

Just bought it... and the remote doesn't really work well. The middle button sometime works, sometimes it just don't. So I can't put it on pause, neither change song or listen to playlist.
Anyone have the same prob??

Hi,
If you haven't already, try installing the latest iPod shuffle software update.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2710 will walk you through the process.

  • Why can't i use shuffle in Remote, with a chosen album?

I choose an album in Remote from my database, and touch "shuffle", and get an error message.

Well once again I find myself on a machine that will not let be take a look.
I am glad to here that you have your app running.
I am troubled by by the solution. It makes me nervous when functions behave differently in the two environments. Have you run this past NI support?
I'll email myself this link as a reminder for monday.
    Thank you for the update.

  • Shuffle and continuous play

I obviously don't understand how ATV2 using Home sharing works.  I have my ATV2 setup to share my iMac's iTunes Library. It shows up fine on the ATV2. What I have not been able to figure out is 2 things:
    1. How do I get a the ATV2 to continuous play everything in an album?  For the life of me Ican't figure it out?
    2. How do I use "Shuffle"  it appears to always be on (arrows are crossed?) Can you turn it off?   When I select shuffle withthe remote it starts to play one song but then stops (even though are more songs in the album, genre, etc.)  What am I doing wrong?
I'm feeling pretty dumb about this thing?

Got it. Ihad unchecked all the Holiday Music so it wouldn't sync to my iPhone.  re-checked them and it's all good.

does apple iphone 5 earphone will support apple ipod shuffle 3 generation? my 3 gen ipod is not supporting.
please help me out to solve the issue.if any third party earphones support please let me know

If the headphones are the Apple EarPods, it does not work with the 3rd gen shuffle (the remote control buttons do not work).
As an alternative, you can get an adapter like this one (there are several similar products)

that has the remote control button, and connect ANY standard headphones.

  • Remote App and shuffling a single album

I'm using iTunes 11.0.1.12 on my PC and Remote App 3.0 (598) on my Touch 5G running iOS 6.0.1, and I want to play an album with its songs shuffled. For example, I go to Artists, choose Steely Dan, then "A Decade Of Steely Dan". There's no obvious way to begin playing, so I press the first song, which begins playing. This takes me to "Up Next", which has all the songs from the album I was on, PLUS 7 songs from the album, "Everything Must Go", also by Steely Dan. This makes no sense at all, but I ignore it for the moment, as shuffling is what's on my mind. The thing is, there's no shuffle button on "Up Next", so I click on the tiny album artwork in the upper right corner, and it takes me to the traditional "Now Playing" screen, with the transport controls and big album artwork in the middle. There I find my shuffle button, so I press it, and it turns blue, so I'm all good, right? Wrong! When the next song begins, it's from some other Steely Dan album chosen at random, like "Katy Lied". When I go back to "Up Next", songs from all my Steely Dan albums now appear. All I wanted was to shuffle the one album "A Decade Of Steely Dan" and play just its songs, but this simple thing doesn't appear to be possible. Am I missing something?

Eliciting the bug requires entry to the album in the Remote App through Artists or Genres. I can leave the "Up Next" list displayed in iTunes on the PC and watch it populate with all the following albums when I do this. However, if I enter the album through Composers or Albums, only that album's tracks go into "Up Next". Unfortunately, using Composers to select albums is not a solution at all; for one thing, I only maintain Composer metadata for classical composers. Using Albums isn't really a solution either, because I like to browse by artist or composer. Interestingly, the Remote App groups albums by artist, but it's a flat list and hard to scroll through because there are so many more albums that artists, and while there is a scroll bar (column of dots) to the right, it has no letters to easily go to the p's for, say, Pink Floyd. The Artists view OTOH has letters A-Z instead of dots. I don't get the inconsistency here.
Moreover, I've found that when I press a song to begin playing, the Remote App inconsistently takes me to its "Up Next" screen as I described in my first post vs. its traditional "Now Playing" screen. I've yet to figure out what determines this.

  • Apple Remote for iPad: Shuffle?

I use the remote app for controlling AirTunes in my home. The Remote app for the iPhone is designed very well, IMHO, as I can easily find my way around to all of the features I want. The iPad version? Not so much.
I'm completely stuck trying to find the option to shuffle the songs in a playlist. It is a nice little option that appears at the top of the iPhone playlist, but is nowhere to be found on the iPad version. If anyone from Apple reads this, please know that it works great on the iPhone version, and that the end user often appreciates knowing where things are intuitively when new version of software are released.

I had the same questions / problem nut figured it out. The feature is well hidden! Select a song to play within a playlist, then hit the "now playing" button. You are now looking at the album art of the song. If you touch it you get some controls, including a shuffle icon, poke that and you are now shuffling within the playlist. Not a great design...

  • IPod Shuffle 3rd Gen fully charged, blinks orange five times and I can't control it with the remote (I used 3 different remotes), volume is low and is iPod is unresponsive... any ideas on how to fix it?

The iPod was working fine, then after about 45 minutes of use i looked as if battery drained.
I charged it fully again (until green light) and then turned it on, green light and then orange light blinks five times...
I can't play /pause, or turn volume up or down from the remote... tried with original Apple earphones, and two Bose MIE2i (original and sports models)...
Any ideas of what can be wrong? or how can I fix it?
Already tried restoring it to factory settings.... it didn't solved the problem...

  • How to shuffle albums with iTunes Remote?

I fall in love with iTunes Remote on my iPhone. However, one feature, which i love from iTunes is missing there. I'm not able to shuffle albums. Not songs in one album, but to let iTunes randomly play albums one after another from my Library. On Mac, it's quite simple to do it (just switch on shuffle by albums and let play first), but i'm not able to duplicate this on iPhone. I was used to non-stop stream of music, now i need to choose something after playback of album is ended. I hate this silence! Can someone help me?

If you enable Home Sharing in itunes, on iPad and AppleTV then Remote app will allow you to browse itunes content from the iTunes library and play it back on AppleTV using Airplay.  Alternatively the Remote app can control the AppleTV interface directly with iAppleTV requesting/pulling content from itunes as opposed to Airplay sending/pusihing content to AppleTV to play.
Not sure where the Wadia dock comes into this.
Do you dock the iPad with it?
I'd have thought you'd be wanting to hook up the AppleTV optical out to the DacMagic if it supports Toslink or use HDMI or optical direct to the AV amp.
Are you trying to run the system 'headless' with TV off when playing audio - if so, recent software has messed things up and not certain if fixed in that absence of an active HDMI connection can disable audio out over optical.

  • HT1473 How do I get a purchased song to play on my ipod shuffle remote from the docking station?

How do I get a purchased song to play on my ipod shuffle remote from the docking station?

I can think of only one reason a song would be "converted" while it is being loaded on a shuffle.
Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, depending on iPod model, go to the Summary or Settings tab.  There should be a setting there that says Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC (the 128 kbps part may be adjustable).  If that checkbox is checked, try unchecking it.
NOTE:  This setting may allow more songs to fit on the shuffle, but for any converted song, the sound quality will become inferior.  So I don't use it.

  • Just bought a pair of earpods for the shuffle 3rd gen the first the remote doesn't work so i exchanged them and these don't work either! I already checked that they are compatible and should work! Any ideas or advice?

Hi I recently bought a pair of earpods for my 3rd Gen ipod shuffle only the remote does not work, so i exchanged them from an unhelpful member of staff from Currys who said the problem could be my device. So i just tested the new ones and the same problem again! I already checked that they are compatible so i don't understand why the remote doesn't work. Will be greatful with any advice or answers on this one. Thanks!

  • ITunes and iPhone 'Remote' app, only plays one song at a time

Using iPhone 'Remote' app to control iTunes on Mac. I click on Albums, select an album, select the first track, it plays and then stops and goes back to the albums list. I've tried every conceivable combination of the little icons for Shuffle and track repeat, nothing changes this, it always plays just the track and select and then it's done, it goes back to the tracks list. I've spent hours researching this and cannot get it to work. Thanks for any help.

Hi, although unchecking tracks is one way to manage what gets put on your device it has other side effects that make it less effective than the use of selected playlists. I generally use unchecking for marking tracks I'd usually want to ignore, such as bonus interview tracks on an album, or podcasts that aren't compatible with my device.
It is much easier to use playlists rather than check boxes to manage the content. There is no need to make a series of ad hoc playlists however. You'll need two, one of which you can throw away later. Create a new smart playlist with the rules *Playlist is Music* and the option *Match only checked items* ticked. Call it Checked. Now create regular playlist and call it, for example, Sync. Select all the tracks in Checked (cmd-A I think) and drag them into Sync.
Now you can go to your main music library and cmd-click on an empty checkbox to check all of your tracks so the unchecked behaviour no longer interferes with playback. Change your sync options so that the device syncs with your new playlist. In future you can manage the content by adding and removing things from this list instead of checking and unchecking them.

  • The remote controls stopped working

I bought with an official Apple dealer the new i Pod Shuffle (generation 3) to use during my bike rides. After the first ride the remote controls stopped working and the voice over feature spontaneously started repeating the songs title. As well the volume control stopped working altogether. I didn't have time to return the Shuffle after only a week so I disable the voice over feature and keep on using my Shuffle with no volume adjustment, fast forward etc ….
After a visit to the Apple website I saw that several owners complained about this problem and assumed Apple would know about it and be ready to offer a fast solution. So picked an official Service Center as close as possible from my location.
First shock the Service Center was dirty, the paint obviously several decades old and faded, the light kept to the minimum.
Second shock not Tech on duty to check something as simple as a headsets. I realized there was no way to have a fast resolution to my problem. The Shuffle will be send to a regional repair center, I could have save the trip and just go to an Apple dealer. What the use to have Service Centers if they don't provide service?
Now when a product is returned, after 25 days of ownership (can't say use), a product designed by a company with the reputation of Apple you expect some kind of sign that the company is sorry, stands behind it's product and will do all possible to solve the problem. WRONG.
Third shock. The person who took my Shuffle obviously never saw a Shuffle generation 3 before or even knew it existed. She explained over and over that I may (but it sounded more like I will) be charge for the repair. Even asked me to pay upfront a basic fee to cover the time of a Tech checking on the product. And that the Tech will give me a quote if I am to be charged. Furthermore She found tons of reasons why eventually I would be charged to repair the product, however no technical person ever checked on the product. Well I guess only users read messages on Apple website not employees of Apple.
So what now? I am suppose to receive an E-mail in 24 hours to 5 working days, in which I'll be explained the result of the Tech investigation.
I guess most owners of Apple products have a better experience with the Customer Service or where the reputation of Apple being a “cool” company comes from? But based on my experience it looks like Apple's products and Apple's Customer Service may not meet Apple's reputation or customer's expectations. Or am I asking for too much?

I seriously doubt you were at an Apple Store and you were not dealing with Apple employees. You were dealing with a 3rd party shop that does work on Apple products.
Don't know where you are located but you could contact Customer Service at Apple and complain but they are somewhat limited it dealing with a 3rd party company. But they will at least have you complaint on file. Or you could attempt to find an actual Apple Store and take your Shuffle there. Or you could try one of the workarounds listed on the threads here.

  • Remote for iPod

    Hi there.
I've bought the Apple Universal Dock for iPod with Apple Remote, and I wanna to know if there is any way to use this remote with the Remote app.
    Thx all.
    Obs.: I'm a PC user

    Hi,
The menu button works with the new iMac:
    b Apple Remote with Mac
Included with the new iMac G5, the Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It combines with Front Row — a menu-driven, full-screen interface — to make accessing your iMac's digital bounty from any seat in the room as simple as navigating your iPod. When you click the Apple Remote's
    b Menu button
, your desktop fades and Front Row's sleek interface takes its place to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Movies folder and whatever DVDs you want to play. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slideshow, a home movie you made in iMovie, even a movie trailer. Just sit back and enjoy the show.
    Regards,
    Colin R.
