SID generation error

Hi All,
I am loading data for Sales Item for this i have enhanced the DataSource. Now while i am loading the data to DSO it is giving error while activating the DSO--SID generation error as it found some hex. values.
To overcome this i tried with TOUPPER formula for that field but still it is giving error. So i have removed unchecked the check box 'SID generation upon activation' as i am not going to use this DSO for reporting.
But i am transferring data to InfoCube where again it is giving the same error.
Kindly help me out to overcome this error.

Always Load Master Data before Transaction data to get rid of SID Generation Error.
And Hex Values FM -- CHAR_HEX_CONVERSION.

SID Generation Error while activating the DSO.

Hello Gurus,
Am trying to load the data to a dso in FIGL, the data is getting loaded to the dso very fine, this is extracting data of 1700000. But the problem is while activating the dso it throws an error "Activation of M records from DataStore object.
In dump error, DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR
CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
SQL error in the database when accessing a table.
So please advice me to solve this problem would be appreciated and reward points.

That's easy you have errors in the field 0REF_KEY3.
Since it is a DSO it let's you load everything but in the time of the activation it complains!
The system is trying to generate a new SID for the master data of the InfoObject 0REF_KEY3 with that value (or values) and since it has garbage on it (invalid characters like "!", etc.) it gives you that short dump.
Try to find that record, change it in PSA and reload the request again.

The system don't like that string for generating the SID. Try to eliminate "//" and "." from it. (for test purposes you can simple change it to nothing and see if it passes the load and activate again)
Try to see if you have more records like those and fix them too.
That should work.

Getting a sid's generation error while activating DSO

We are created a standard dso on top of generic data source. This data source is created on top CDHDR and CDPOS tables through function module.
While acting the DSO , We are getting a sid generation error.
Please let me know the process to resolve the issue or tell me any other alternative solution is available to overcome this situation.

Proformance issue with 'sid generation on activation'

Hi Gurus,
In our BW(NW 2004) system we are using Cognos as reporting tool, due to process chain failure at DSO level we unchecked 'sid generation on activation' and chain running successfully after that.
unchecking will be a performance issue due to generating sid's at run time as per SAP.
My question is as i am using Cognos in place of BEX. what are the possiblities of effecting the performance and alll?
Please provide your valuable suggestions.

Hi Suresh,
Irrespective of what is the reporting front end you use, if you use this DSO for reporting it would generate the SID values at the runtime which will have huge impact on reporting performance. Just removing the SID generation option would temporarily fix the load issue, with quick activation of DSO but it will affect the most important area reporting performance.
Try to solve the issue with SID generation error while activating at the BW side which could be because of the special character issues and once you fix that your process chains would load fine with a far better performance while reporting on this DSO.

SAP System Message: Syntx error or generation error in a screen

dear sap basis gurus,
i am currently having problems signing on to our DEV server. i get this error message:

Syntx error or generation error in a screen.
it won't let me log on.
there were no changes made on the server (i.e., profile parameters) lately. it was working really fine after our support package level upgrade about 5 months ago.
have you encountered this problem before? please help me as there we have two imminent go-lives.

Sid generation

Hi,
I come cross invalid characterisitc error while activating ODS. I got several replies that we have to change the data in PSA / allow that invalid char in RSKC. I would like to know what exactly happening while activating ODS and how SID's will be generated.
In the current DSO, I have material and 0Vendor is an attribute for 0Materail. Obvisouly I cannot modify 0Vendor in PSA as it was defiend as attribute for 0materail. As per details tab it is saying datapacket 117 failed with "invalid char' for 0Vendor. But how how PSA will get data for master data.
And even if 0Vendor has invalid char, it should throw an error while loading data for 0material.
Pls clarify all the above questions.

1) For 0material i have loaded master data it does not meant that SID' already generated as a part of Master data loading. And I am using this master data in Curreny DSO, then why Shuoul I generate SID while ODS activation.
With the Generation of SID Values indicator, you specify whether SIDs are created for the new characteristic values in the DataStore object when the data is activated.
2) Here I am referrring PSA for DSO not for master data. But as per the threads I have to change these records in PSA (DSO). However this PSA does not have any Master data. And when should I use "SID generation on ODS activation" setting.
If you are reporting on a ODS, you should use this setting. PSA contains all the data from the source system. PSA contains master data.
When data is uploaded further, system allocates the respective SID to the characteristics.
3) As per your answer Invalid char can be loaded upto PSA (Master data) but while activating only it will through error.

"The page size aspect ratio must match the folio aspect ratio." is an error i keep getting, although my file is 1024 px wide. It isn't however 768 px high. It's higher, to create a scrollable page. Is there a minimal / maximal size, are there constraints ?
Also sometimes when i already have a portrait lay-out & want to add the landscape lay-out, InDesign's Folio Builder thinks it's still the portrait lay-out, so he does not add the landscape version, does not seem to see the difference ?!

SID Generation Failed : How to identify which record in PSA

Hello guys,
I have a DSO where the SID Generation has failed for about 4 records due to lower case letters. I would want to fix that in PSA.
How do I identify which record/package in PSA to change it. I have about 11,50,000 records. The DSO activation log gives you the error but doesnot give any information on which record or the key of the record.
Is there a way to identify the packet id and the record no. in PSA which has this problem so I can fix it. Its literally impossible to find out because each package in my PSA has about 40 - 50 thousand records.
Any help would be rewarded.

Hi.......
Go to the display message of the DSO activation step..........Right click display message........there it will give you which master data...........which packets......
Also you can go to the IP monitor..........in the details tab.........there is one tab comes ODS activation........click on that...........there also you will be able to find the errorneous data packets.........

Report Painter GR214 generation error - Short dump 4.6C

While generating a report with more than twenty sections, the system short dumps with the error message GR214 pointing to "MESSAGE_TYPE_X"
"%_T01JR0 " or "########################################"
"INSERT_ROW_FORMULA_NEW"
Any leads to fix this?
The generation error happens only when I include a last line formula in the last section, Till then it is working fine.

The error you are receiving could be caused by a large number of row blocks in your report definition, (you can check the report definition with report RGRRDC00). A report should not contain too many row and column blocks. It is not possible to give an upper bound for the number of row blocks (since the length of the coding depends on other parts of the report as well). However, even a complicated Report Writer or Report Painter report should not contain more than 50 row blocks, and reports with more than 100 row blocks should not be defined.
In this case the report(s) have to be redefined. Please also refer to the note 387916 for further information regarding this issue.
When there are more than 30 variables in a report, please have a look at the note 332091.
Please reduce the number of row blocks in the report by using the function 'Edit' -> 'Rows' -> 'Explode' in the Report Painter
definition. This function enables several rows to be created for one row block (in the Report Painter definition one row block is just one row). Report Painter (and Report Writer) are designed to display hierarchical reports where the rows in the few row blocks are built up using the 'Explode' function.

Smartform report generation error

Hi,
I have a problem with a report calling a smartform. The report works perfectly on the 1 system but on the other system there is a generation error. I found that the problem lies with the following declaration:
data: otf_info type SSFCRESCL.
I compared the structures on the different systems and they are identical. The only difference is the Support Package levels. The error occurs on the system with the higher support package - SAPKB64015 (basis and aba) whereas the other system is still at level 12 (SAPKB64012).
Any ideas what is causing the generation error and what could be done to fix it?

I think there may be some errors in function group errors.
Try the following :
T/Code : SMARTFORMSEnter the name of the form> Test--> This will leads to function module --> Utilities(Menubar)-=-> Repair function group --> Repair.
After repairing the function group --> Save and Activate.
Then transport the Smartform to other system .

Generation Error - when trying to publish a Java web service

I keep getting the following Generation Error -- java.util.NoSuchElementException_ when I'm trying to create a Java Web Service using the jdeveloper wizard.
I have 2 entities and 2 stateless session beans acting as their facades. One entity has a One-One(FK) relationship with the other entity. I test out the entities and session beans using the test client and the OC4J embedded container and everything seems to work. When I try to generate a Java WebService from one of the entities I keep getting the "Generation Error". Could someone please provide me with some insight into why I'm facing this problem, because it seemed fine when I published J2EE web services previously and now this happens and I cant seem to publish web services anymore. Everytime I keep getting the same GenerationError. Thanks in advance.

Without going into any technical discussion about the code, my first question is what JDK version was used to create this which was imported into the form? Understand that Forms 10 runs on JDK 1.4.2, so if you used any newer JDK version, likely there will be problems.

Generation error during WebDynpro migration from 7.0 to 7.31

So far, everything I could find is pointing to some localisation issue, but I'm not able to solve the problem. Some hints say I'd have to change the language settings of the DC (or SC) upon import, but I never saw anything that gave me an opportunity to do so. On the other hand, other WebDynpro DCs in the same track get imported o. k. and compile without any error.
The other thing I see in this WebDynpro DC is that in some views, all GUI element texts are missing, some views are o. k.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue ?

After that, the views with previously missing GUI texts were showing these texts inside the NWDS WebDynpro view editor, and those views that did previously show these text didn't show them any more! So there seems to be some discrepancy regarding the language the views were created in.
Any hint on what files have to be changed in what way to either remove internationalization completely or to set all views to a single language ?

Reporting Services UserToken SID's error

Hi All
I know there is loads on the web about this but none of it is fixing the issue.
We have SCCM 2012 R2 (Not been upgraded from 2012) and SQL Server 2008 R2.
All was working fine till a couple of days again when some uses started getting the UserToken SID's error. Have tried everything but cannot get it working. Check AD membership for the reporting service account, removed and re-added user to refresh permissions
but still the same error.

If you login with a SCCM Administrator account, can you run the reports?
Please check the permission for these users failed to run the reports from Report Manager URL.
