Silverlight (Netflix) not working after latest Firefox update

After the latest Firefox update (34.0.5), I can't get Silverlight to work on Netflix. I get a black screen with no error codes.
Netflix has a checklist of things to do if you get a black screen (https://help.netflix.com/en/node/95), and I've done all of these things several times -- manually removing Netflix cookies, uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight (and I used a Fix-It app on the Microsoft website to troubleshoot), disabling ad blockers and virus software, and scanning for malware. I've done all of these things, and nothing has helped. I can play Netflix videos in Chrome, but I think there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to use my preferred browser, especially since I was able to do it without incident up until Wednesday night.
I had two chats with Netflix tech support. Neither were much help, but the second person suggested that I uninstall Firefox entirely and then reinstall. I don't really want to do that. I'm not really that tech-y, and I'm afraid of losing my settings. Honestly, I would cancel Netflix before doing that.
Has anybody else had this problem? Are there any OTHER workarounds or suggestions of what I can try to fix this problem? Also, is it possible to be prompted when there's a new Firefox update.. and not have it automatically updated without my permission? I can't, by any chance, roll back to the version when everything worked fine?

First of all, I´m not a IT guy...just a fan of "firefox".
Regarding your question, since this issue started with the 34.0.5
version of "firefox" it´s my opinion that it´s "firefox" the one that
should be updated/patched to work again with "netflix".
to fix such issue.

After installing the latest series of Windows updates for Microsoft Vista on my Boot Camp installation, the mouse quit working. I am using a mighty mouse, but any mouse plugged in resulted in an error message that it could not install the correct drivers. Re-installing the boot camp drivers did not work, but using system restore to roll back the updates did work. I was wondering if anyone knew which Microsoft update caused this to occur? If you need any further information, let me know.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I was trying to get Reset Points working (oh the timing) and it required me to install updates to reboot, so I simply did that. From what I was able to gather from people running WIN8 on non-apple machines it is often related to changes in intel xhci. Not sure how that relates to a Mac though.

IE11 not working after latest Windows Updates when viewing Project Online sites

Ever since the latest Windows Updates rolled out a few weeks ago we cannot get Internet Explorer 11 to work with our
Project Online sites at 365. We tried putting it into compatibility mode but then it runs painfully slow. Is Microsoft aware of this problem? Our workaround is to use Chrome --- which is really ironic, right? To access 365 Project Online
sites we can't use Microsoft's own browser! We have to use Google's --- you have to laugh or else you'd cry.

Sounds like the site is doing browser User-Agent sniffing. Compatibility mode forces IE7 Quirks mode emulation. So, you may need a more modern emulation (e.g. via the Developer Tools, Emulation tab, F12, Ctrl-8). But the real fix would
be to get the site to stop doing User-Agent sniffing and support all modern browsers.
A usability problem with a Developer Tools override is that it has to be done each time and the DT window has to be left open for the duration of the session. You can report compatibility issues here:

Then one way or another you may eventually get better usability on that site with IE11.

Is this a bug in the xorg update or most the kbd layou be reompiled or? I am not able to swtich between my two kbd layouts anymore.. Downgrading the org packages made it work again but I guess that's not a long term solution...

I have a recent experience that sounds related to your problem - I have a 15" macbook pro bought new in the UK a couple of years ago (macbookpro 5,3), which has been running perfectly under snow leopard until a couple of days ago when my trackpad stopped recognising the standard "left" click.
"Right" click, scroll and pointer movement continued to work fine.
Booting in safe mode seemed to give me back the left click but this was immediately lost when I returned to standard boot up.
Doing a full reinstall from original disks, all seemed fine. Over 1.6Gb of software updates and everything worked great. Then the final run of S/W update took me from os-x 10.6.6 to 10.6.7 plus a few other changes and again the trackpad stopped recognising "left" click.
Plugging in an external drive which had a copy of my system as at OS-X 10.6.3 and booting off that - everything works fine again.
I can only conclude that there's an issue with the 10.6.7 upgrade and my 2 year old MBP hardware so will have to reinstall yet again but stop at 10.6.6
My concern is that after the first upgrade to 10.6.7 I put the laptop on charge to top it up from about 70% and came back to find the machine abnormally hot. With your comment about toasting the logic board, I wonder if there's a bug in the power control software too which I was lucky enough to catch before my machine suffered the same damage as yours ?

I am still unable to get my favorite personas to rotate. I'm upset that personas used to work quite nicely even though I had it set to clear history every time firefox was closed. I want personas to rotate AND have history cleared again. In the meantime, I've disabled clearing history--now how do I get the rotator working again please.

Personas should work if you aren't in Private Browsing mode.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.

I am using Mountain Lion. I reset the system a thousand times. The Mac communicates fine with the printer, that's not the problem. Somehow, recently something changed in the ppd file for the LaserJet 1320 that it simply does not print properly. For instance, I sent a job to print two pages, and use the duplex. The duplex works, but then the other side comes out empty. Is there a place I can find the old - less secure, I don't care, I just want to print - ppd file for controlling the printer? I think the printer only supports certain level of Postscript commands, and the new ppd file expects a new level. This printer is 8 years old after all. If I plug the printer in Linux, it prints the same document fine.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Anyone having trouble with App Store install and cloud store buttons not working after 6.1 update? I go to install an app. I hit install and nothing happens. About a minute later it asks me for my password and then it does nothing. The install button goes back to saying install. However the app shows up in my installed list and in cloud but no app installed.

OK - I found a helpful post - closed app store app and under Settings/General/Date and Time I reset the date and time by switching off "Set Automatically" and then switching it on again. Went back to App Store, launched it and Updatesseems to be working again.
Go figure? Logical, No!
