Thank you for posting. It has been a long time since I played with those settings but if I remember correctly the - side means more sensitivity. Also, I found the following in the WVC210 Admin Guide which appears to confirm this:
Adjust the sensitivity of each window by using the threshold slider (less threshold
means more sensitivity)

Simple question - How to find date

Hi Experts,
I have a simple question on date. Suppose today is Jan 4, 2010. I have to find out Jan 1, 2007 using Java code.
I have used following code. This code will work for 2010 and 2011 properly. However it won't work properly after Feb 28, 2012. Please see "dayInMillis*1096 " portion of code. Here 365365366 = 1096.
How I can avoid this hard coding. Do we have any simple way to get Jan 1, 2007 even without using following code.

I am not pretty much clear with your question, whatever i have understood, i have found a way to get the previous date given the current date.
Below is the code for the same.

SIMPLE QUESTION - HARD TO ANSWER?`

I have an iPod Nano. Very very cool little media unit.
I have itunes on my iMac.
I have a playlist I've been building for my angelic wife.
I've been buying songs from itunes store that go into this list.
QUESTION:
When I plug my ipod into my imac to download the songs, I only want the songs from this playlist on my ipod. I don't want it just randomly grabbing songs from my Library like it does each time. How do i get my ipod Nano to grab just the playlist I created for my wife?
Does the ipod just go for whatever is in your Library, or can I teach it to go for songs just in this one playlist?
If you can answer this, I will give you 200 Karma points to get you out of any mess you think you got yourself in.
(here's another little question: did you know that itunes store doesn't really have all the songs that really matter? Did you know that it only has ONE Jethro Tull song? What's up with that?)

With the iPod connected, go into your iTunes preferences and set it to 'Update Only Selected Playlists'.
Choose the one playlist that you want to sync.
Anything in the playlist will be copied to the iPod. Anything not in the playlist will be removed from the iPod.

RE: Jethro Tull... yes, it's a shame.
There are many artists/labels who do not have licensing deals to sell content through iTMS. I'm sure Apple would stock every song ever created if they could. We can only hope that changes someday.

Simple Question--hard answer?

This should not be that hard, so I'm guessing I'm just blind. Someone emails me a stupid, funny song/ad/random mp3. I click on it. Its added to my iTunes library. Why? What makes iTunes think I want to add EVERY mp3 I double click on to my iTunes library? I don't need the file stored twice--once in my email, once in my library.
Where is the setting to turn off this irritating behavior? Its like there is an invisible Clippy, saying, "I see you have clicked an mp3. I've gone ahead and added it to your library. You're welcome!"

That's not what I want though--I DO want it to copy to my folder when purposefully adding to my library.
Right now, double click = add to library.
I want is double click to equal "play", and then, if i actually like the song I'm listening to that is say, on my desktop, to go to iTunes File|Add to Library, browse to that song and then have it add to my library, copying it to my music folder.
My workaround is just to set Real Player as my default mp3 player, but I would rather not do that.

Where do my files have to be in order to use creative cloud and not have my indesign links break? I'll need to use Indesign on different computers and my images won't be traveling with me... will I need to relink every image every time? this gets way too tedious after 5 pages of links are broken. Also,,, why do I need all these plugin's once I use an icloud version of indesign when I've saved the file on my external hard drive, and then open the exact same file from the exact same hard drive? The file never opens and is corrupt which means I have to rebuild the entire thing or physically travel back to that computer which has the indesign cloud.... It's baffling.
And another question... how does adobe not have a live support number to call and ask questions? I've been in the same "click-loop" now forever and I can't ever get to an actual useful forum.

Standard practice is to use File>Package and then save to drive/location that suits you. If you need it to travel with you bring the entire folder.
The InDesign file will link to the folder where the Links folder is situated.

The file isn't corrupt. The Craeative Cloud version is a newer version than you have on your computer at home. That's why the plugins are missing, as older versions don't have the same plugins as the newer version of InDesign.
If you want to work on a version created with CC - then you need to use file Export/Save and choose IDML - then open that in earlier versions of InDesign.
However, you could install the Creative Cloud on your computer at home and use the same version of InDesign - this would solve your problem without any extra work.

InDesign has never offered user support in using the software. It's telephone and helpline service is not for that purpose. InDeisgn is a professional graphic designer/typesetter/whateveryourjob is tool.
Like any tool you need to have specific training to it's end use, most people used to do an apprenticeship/trainee position going to college to learn the software and the fine principles of lithographic/screen/flexo/gravure printing and the use of images/text/graphics etc on the web.
It's a professional's tool that requires professional training. Much like I wouldn't go out and buy a carpenters tool set and then complain that none of the tools do what I want them to do, like hammering in a screw.

I was in another area within the Airport forum when I came across a very interesting question and thought.
"If 500GB HD hooked up via USB to a Airport Extreme has connection issues then what makes me believe the TimeCapsule will not have issues too?"
The problem here is that the Airport Extreme (N) is having some major issues with HD access through it's USB. Is it just a USB thing in the Airport Extreme? I have had issues with single and multiple users losing connections when accessing the HD drive on the Airport Extreme. The HD never sleeps and is always spinning. Apple has not fixed those issues as I, and others have seen.
Is the TimeCapsule different? I thought it was a N-draft with a built in hard drive? Does it have different hardware/software?
I am looking for answers because I received none at MacWorld '08 and will NOT buy the TC if it has the same problems as the Airport Extreme (N).

Keep in mind that this is not a shipping product, so no one outside of Apple has had an opportunity to test it and answer your question "does it have the same problems as the Airport Extreme N".
Speculative answer - Apple has managed to solve the issues through a combination of (a) improved firmware, (b) using a direct interface to the drive rather than going through USB, (c) standardizing the hard drive make/model, and (d) standardizing the drive formatting. I suspect many users problems with use of their own hard drives and the Airport Extreme N stem from "issues" involving (b), (c), and (d).

IMac Wont Boot Question.I cant find an answer.

Ok Heres the story.
I have an iMac 20" display Intel Core Duo.
I came home yesterday and it was locked up.. I had to turn it off manually.
When it rebooted it started up but was stuck with a folder with a "?" on it.
I know it has to be the HDD.
I booted it from the snow leopard DVD and went into disk utlilty and repaired and verified the disk. The HDD shoes up in disk utility with the Macintosh Partition.After I repaired it it still does not appear as an option to st it as a start up disc.. I dont think the HDD is bad.. But I am not an expert
To be honest I dont care about the iMac I just want the data. I back up but I did not do one in a month or so and there are some things I want. If I removed the HDD and plugged into another mac would I be able to get the data off? I have one of those sata to USB adapters..
Any help would be appreciated let me know if you have any ideas

Do you know why it shows up in Disk Utilty but it wont boot from it?
Because the computer can't find a bootable OS on it. This is much more complicated than just seeing the drive.

Two time machine questions i cannot find an answer for ...

1) i use a 1 TB time capsule to back up my macbook. can i use this back up to restore to a windows computer in case of a macbook crash ? ( no plans to shift back to windows, but just need to know. )
2) i also separately back up my 395 GB music collection on a seagate 500 GB external hard disk. i used to keep this in the Mac OS extended ( journaled) format without the slightest idea what that format means. the other day i tried copying some music onto a friends windows machine , and it would not even recognise the external drive in this format . another drive in the FAT 32 format was recognised.
as i am the only mac user in my group, would it be safer to make this secondary back up in FAT 32 format, so that i could use someone's windows machine to get back my music in case of a macbook crash ?

No. When using a Time Capsule, each user's backup is stored in a special disk image format called a .sparsebundle.
I'm not aware of any utility on Windows that can open a .sparsebundle file to retrieve the files.

Right - Windows systems can't read most non-Windows disk formats, including Mac OS X's Extended format (whether journaled or not).
There are some Windows utilities such as MacDrive that enable this ability on Windows machines, but they're not part of the standard Windows OS.
In most cases, especially if you're in the minority, the easiest solution is to use the lowest common denominator and format the disk as FAT32, which both systems can use.

Quick Backup Question - Can't Find the Answer

I need to restore my phone with an old backup to get some (read 300+) photos of my newborn that were lost.
I tried restoring the phone, but the only backup in the drop down was from a sync that caused the problem in the first place.
I was able to find a backup folder under library in the finder that I think could fix the problem, but I can't seem to figure out how to actually use that backup file.
What is my next step to backup my phone with that old file, hopefully restoring the lost photos, and returning my wife from the abyss she currently resides in?

As I posted in your other thread, only one backup is kept (usually, unless you manually archive them).
A 'backup' consists of a folder with a UID (a long, seemingly meaningless name), stored in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup. How many folders do you have in there? If there is more than one (and you only have one iPhone/iPod Touch), then you have 'extra' backups. Check the date modified for the folder to determine the date of the backup.
Within the backup folder are some .plist files and many .mdbackup files. It is possible to extract files from the backup, for skilled users. However, if the modified date/time of the folder is the date/time of the last sync, the pics are gone because they were overwritten.
FYI, the process to recover data from the backup involves running a python script from the terminal, then parsing the resulting SQLite database. If those concepts have meaning for you, then you might be able to at least have a look at the backup. But, I really think those pics were overwritten by the more recent backup.

Very simple question - but cant find anything to do this! (other than a full proxy server)

Simple one for everyone who has kids... I run a wrt54gs, v1.50.9 wireless network in my house. I have 2 teenage kids both with laptops...
I'd like to be able to see what sites they're browsing (ie firewall logs) - but without installing something like 'netnanny ' on each laptop (there apears to be a log setup on the router but doesnt record anything let alone outgoing traffic)
I know I can bar sites through the setup...but does anyone know of any app that will record from the router, who's looked at what site?,,,so I know (quietly!) what they're looking at?

Painfully simple question: How do I view Answers?

I feel like have to be missing something really obvious, but when I get to a post with the green star indicating it has been answered - how do I then see the answer? or the "helpful posts"? All I see is the question.

Actually that is a good question. The original poster marks the question answered. That accounts for the green star you see. Now comes the problem. The OP can award a green star for the best answer and 2 yellow stars for helpful answers. Some OPs don't do this they just say it's answered and don't mark which one helped them It happens often this way. Makes it confusing to know which was the best answer.

Yes your classpath is wrong indeed. You need to build your classpath so that it contains all the thirdparty library jars as well.
The "java" command gives the following hint:
-classpath <class search path of directories and zip/jar files>
A : separated list of directories, JAR archives,
and ZIP archives to search for class files.So from this I can assume that in this directory you specified as your classpath:c:\program files\apache group\tomcat 4.1that the mail jar is not present there. You must get the correct path where these jars are present, and edit your "java" command's classpath option appropriately.

I think this should be a simple question

I doing a slide show of 20 slides and need them to be 20 seconds long. All my slides are done and I am having a bit of a hard time finding where I can set the timing per slide. I've got some builds on a few slides. Those are the only ones that stay up longer.
Seems simple enough. Apple just works...right?

Greeting and Welcome to the Forum:
In the Inspector > Slide > Transition menu, after you designate the Effect you want for the Transition, set the Start Transition window to Automatic and the Delay to 20 seconds. For those slides with Builds, you may need to adjust this Delay setting to achieve the pacing that you desire. With a little trial-and-error you should be able to get everything flowing properly.

Re: add-ons. Just a simple question I couldn't find an answer to. Is the term "uninstall" equivalent to "remove the software from the computer"?

I downloaded a You Tube downloader, and expected an icon to come up when You Tube was playing, according to a friend's advice.
Since this didn't happen I assumed the download didn't work, or was an old version that doesn't work anymore. I wanted to just get rid of it and try another downloader.
I went to Tools--> Add-ons--> and clicked on the downloaded software and saw the 2 options [Disable] and [Uninstall]. The terminology is unclear, as I've always thought once software resides on your computer you can install it or uninstall it without erasing it from the computer.
A simple question that seems obvious except to someone who wants to be very precise and sure. Basically "does [Uninstall] mean erase from the computer"?

With Firefox extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) you have two possibilities. You can disable an extension if you do not want to use it now, but want to keep it. Or you can uninstall an extension and remove it from the computer. Note that uninstalling an extension still leaves prefs in about:config (prefs.js) and possibly files in the profile folder that will be reused in case you decide to reinstall an extension at a later time.
