Simulate GSS in local host file

Hi,
I would like to test out the GSS without publishing it on the internet DNS.
So the only way I think is to update the local host file (Win XP). What would be an equivalent entry in local host file for the below in Internet DNS
abc.com IN NS gss.abc.com
gss.abc.com IN A 22.11.22.11
Mapping a domain/hostname to IP is straight foward, but how can an NS record be added.
Thanks.

Thanks. But I would like to avoid DNS effort and just manage with the local host file. So I would like to know whether it is possible to enter NS record in the local host file.
If I were to ask for hostname abc.com, the process should be
1. Check local host file for abc.com
2. abc.com is pointed to NS record in local host file.
3. The Name Server has a IP mapping in the local host file.
All of the above without any DNS setup. A local host file at the moment is like
abc.com 22.11.22.11
which I want to change to
abc.com IN NS gss1.abc.com
gss1.abc.com 22.11.22.10 (GSS IP)
How can I acheive 'abc.com IN NS gss1.abc.com' in local host file.

Since Windows system uses separated user mode and kernel mode memory space, stop errors are always caused by kernel portion components, such as a third-party device drivers, backup software or anti-virus services (buggy services).
The system goes to a BSOD because there is some exceptions happened in the kernel (either the device driver errors or the service errors), and Windows implements this mechanism: When it detects some errors occur in the kernel, it will kill the box in case
some more severe damage happens. Then we get a blue screen or the system reboots (it depends on what the system settings are).
To troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. A suggestion would be to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that
a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below:
    Microsoft - Help and Support
If you are outside the US please see
Microsoft Worldwide Home for regional support phone numbers.
Meantime we can try some available steps as a general troubleshoot.
    1. Please remove the antivirus and run the system with a period. If the issue does not occur, mainly focus on antivirus settings and compatibility.
    2. Disable Automatic Restart and see detail information on the blue screen.
1).Click Start, in the Start Search box enter sysdm.cpl.
2).Click the tab Advanced. Under Startup and Recovery, click the Settings button.
    3). Uncheck “Automatically restart”.
4). On the drop-down menu “Write debugging information”, choose “Small memory dump”.
    5). Click OK.
When Blue Screen displays, you may find some useful information.

  • How do I add a new IP to the local host file?

One of the sites I manage has been migrated to a dedicated server. Before changing the nameservers, I need to proof all the pages. To do so, I need to add the new IP number to my local computer local host file.
    How is that done?

Download TextWrangler, choose Open File by Name from the File menu, provide /private/etc/hosts as the path, and enter them using the same format as the 127.0.0.1 line.

  • Can SID show up in /etc/hosts file?

    Experts:
I am looking into a /etc/hosts which has something I never saw before.
Every entry in that /etc/hosts file has a format as follows:
    123.23.456.678   CHERRY      CHERRY.RIO.COM  SID  CHERRY.BRAVO.NET
    For example:
    123.23.456.678   CHERRY      CHERRY.RIO.COM  PRO  CHERRY.BRAVO.NET
    Observation:
    1) each entry has 2 aliases ;
    2) "nslookup CHERRY.RIO.COM "
2a) will return the correct IP address IF I run this nslookup on the server
2b) will say "non-exist domain" on my PC
    3) "nslookup CHERRY.BRAVO.NET"
3a)  will say "non-exist domain"  IF I run nslookup on the server
3b) will give the correct IP address on my PC
    4) WHY SID (here is PRD) gets into the hosts file?  Would it cause some issues?
    Thank you for help.

    Hi,
The nslookup is trying to resolve the address via the DNS. If you are not using a DNS, you cannot resolve this hostname via your local machine.. In order to do that, you should add the entry to your local hosts file.
I don't think there is any harm in using aliasses in that way, but it looks rather strange though..
Ask your system administrator why the setup of the hosts file is like this. He is responsible for this..
    Kind regards,

  • Sendmail and host file

How can I get sendmail to read etc/hosts when I boot our solaris machine?

    Hi
The order of name lookups depends on what has been set in the file /etc/nsswitch.conf.
Usually the name lookup will first take place in /etc/hosts, then DNS
the entry in /etc/nsswitch.conf will look like this:
    hosts: files dns
During the boot process, the hosts file is used to configure the basics of the host so that it
can get up and running on the network. Sendmail will start at run level 2 after any name service
is running, but will resolve itself with the local host file if the setup is as above.
If your post is regarding the "unable to qualify my own domain name - using short name"
message that gets posted to /var/adm/messages, you will need to put a fully qualified domain
    name into the /etc/hosts file.

  • Quicktime Pro wants to open OS 9 in my Local Host???

I created a slide show that runs perfectly on my desktop. However, it will not play now that I loaded it on to my website. Furthermore, I notice that when I open the .mov quicktime file from my local host file in dreamweaver MX, my mac want to open up OS 9???? I imagine this may be the reason that I can't open the file from the web. Please help.

That must be a monster of a file!
Three times the data rate of a DVD and a size that wouldn't fit on my current monitor.
I don't see a video codec mentioned but I suspect maybe your used the Animation codec.
How many MB's is the file? How did you get it uploaded to your server?
Without knowing what video codec was used I'm just guessing. The only reason OS 9 would get involved is if you somehow used a very old (OS 9 only) video codec.

  • Client machine requires "hosts file" include IP-address of server machine??

    Hi. all.
I am using real IP address in tnsnames.ora at client machines.
The client machine(windows)'s hosts file should have ip-address of server machine?
Without hosts file(ip-address of server), tnsping is always OK, but
sqlplus returns error from time to time.
With hosts file(ip-address of server), sqlplus returns no error.
The database is 2-node RAC database on windows2003.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards.

If you've got server side load balancing then the clients can get a redirect to one of your RAC nodes when it tries to connect. This redirect will be to a host name (at least thats what I get with our RAC nodes) - so you will definitely need the to be able to resolve the RAC node names. Resolution through the local hosts file or DNS doesn't really matter.

  • Working with virtual host & hosts files on a local network

I'm setting up a small local web and production server here in my office running Leopard.
I'm setting up virtual hosts for users on the network to review and comment on websites in development. Ideally they'd access it as:
    host1.webserver.local
    host2.webserver.local
    host3.webserver.local
Problem is, users on the network can see webserver.local just fine, but the subdomains need to be registered with hosts file on each computer.
Is there a way I can manage all computers hosts file easily? I was thinking of an SVN repository, but this still requires going to each computer to update the file.
Any suggestions here would be great.
    Thanks

  • Save a csv file on local host, executing a DTP Open hub in a Process chain?

    Hi All,
my client has asked me to try if there is a way to save in the local host c:\  a .CSV file generated from an Open HUB executed by a DTP in a Process chain.
when i execute my DTP it work correctly and it save the .csv file on my c:\ directory.
my client doesn't want to give th users authtorization on RSA1 and want to try if there is a way to put the DTP in a process chain
and when executing the process chain every user can have the file on his own local c:\ directory.
i tried this solution but it doesn't work i get an error on executin the process chain:
    Runtime Errors         OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED
    Except.                     CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL

An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL', was not
         caught in
procedure "FILE_DELETE" "(METHOD)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
You attempted to use a 'NULL' object reference (points to 'nothing')
        access a component (variable: "CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>HANDLE").
An object reference must point to an object (an instance of a class)
before it can be used to access components.
Either the reference was never set or it was set to 'NULL' using the
        CLEAR statement.
can you give some advices please?
    Thanks for All
    Bilal

    Hi Bilal,
Unfortunately, DTPs belonging to Open Hubs wich are targeted to a local workstation file, can't be executed through a process chain.
The only way of including such DTP in a process chain is changing the Open Hub so that it writes the output file in the application server.  Then, you can retrieve the file -through FTP or any other means- from the application server to the local workstation.
    Hope this helps.

  • Auto Sync Files not working with Local Host

    Hi,
I am developing a site locally and testing on a local host. I have my working files in Adobe cloud and then 'upload' to my local host to test.
This works fine when I click upload, or control+shift+u, but its extremely annoying.
I have checked the box that says 'automatically upload files to server on save' but it doesn't do it.
The only thing I can think of it that it has to be an actual live server? Nothing else can explain it. My setting are fine and like I said, doing it manually works no problem.
I have the most recent version of DW CC

  • How to set up a JSP local host server?

I am trying to set up a local host JSP server, do you know any good youtube or tutorials in general that would help me set up a local host JSP server? Or could you post the steps here and your source (if any).
I am looking for something similar to XAMPP as in this youtube tutorial: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=KWRB-maTVyM&feature=rec-fresh However, any help would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I am very new to JSP and was wondering, XAMPP includes Apache, is Apache a JSP server?

You need a Java web container to run JSP/Servlets. A commonly used one is Apache Tomcat. It is not the same as Apache HTTP Server which can only serve static files.
You can find Tomcat here: [http://tomcat.apache.org].
How to install/use it, just check the User Guide: [http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/index.html].

  • Unable to edit Hosts file in Win7 Home Prem 64bit.

Clean install.  Administrator account.  Unable to edit the permissions of the hosts file. There is one in the drivers\etc file, which I cannot edit. There is supposed to be one in %systemroot% \SysWOW64\drivers\etc   but there is no etc folder in the drivers folder.
Turned off DNS Server. gpedit.msc not found when calling it in "run".  This is the first time I've used 64bit anything, so a bit of a newb in that respect.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
As you would know, some of the Windows 7 users can’t save the host file how they like it. The host file itself will simply vanish what the user had done with it.
In my scenario, I was unable to fix this even after all the instructions provided in above posts. Hence, I have come up with my own idea and luckily it
    worked.<o:p></o:p>
For those users who experience this problem, here are the instructions to fix it.
First of all, you should have the administrative privileges to edit the host file. In normal case, if an admin user directly go to the host file in system 32 and add his preferences
and then save it, it should keep the changes. However, in some wicked scenarios, it will not. I had done a detailed research on this through all the available online forums and even contacted Microsoft several times with no luck.
So, here you go with a correct solution for this problem.
Note: If you are not comfortable with Windows OS and don’t know what you are doing, this process can mess up things.
Hence, do not attempt if you are not 100% sure you can make it.
    Login to an administrator account.
In the run command (Windows key + R) type, “control folders” and hit enter.
Click on the tab called view.
Select the radio button for Show hidden files, folders and drivers –ON.
Uncheck the ‘Hide extension for known file types-ON
Click on Apply and then OK.
Type “drivers” in run command and hit enter. It will take you to where the folder “drivers” located in System 32.
From the “drivers” folder, double click the folder named “etc.”
Now you can see the “host” file along with others.
Now, in the search area in start menu, type “notepad.exe” and open the notepad.exe as administrator. (In order to do this, you can right click on the notepad.exe shown and select
“Run as Administrator.” If UAC prompted, click YES/OK)
Now, you will have a notepad open with administrative privileges.
At the top left side of the notepad click on “file” and then select “Open.”
A box will appear which will allow you select the file to open. Carefully, navigate to the location where the “host” file is located. To do that, select the drive where you
installed Windows. If you have the Windows installed in C: select ‘Local Disk (C :)’ > Windows > System 32 > drivers > etc. At this point, you might not have another option to proceed or select from. The window would be empty. To proceed further,
select the option “All files” from the drop down menu which is located above the “Open” and “Cancel” button. You can now see all the files located in etc folder.
Select “hosts” from the menu and click on “Open.” Note: You can either click on open or double click on the file.
Now, you will have the host file information open in the notepad which you had already initiated before with administrative privileges.
Make whatever changes you as you wish. (Example: If you need to block a web site called
    www.block123.com you can type 127.0.0.1
www.block123.com right under the local hosts.
Make sure you do not change any other letters or characters which are already saved in host file.
This will completely mess up your computer. For more information on the information about host file, refer the Microsoft web site:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034 . If you
have accidently delete/edit anything from host file, please delete the complete information stored in host file and copy and paste the host file information from Microsoft which is appropriate for your Operating System.)
Click on “file” again and select “Save as” and save it in etc. If the path is showing correct to etc folder, save it to etc. If it is navigated to somewhere else, follow the
instructions provided above and select etc folder and then save it.
Now, go back to the actual host file location which is in System32 > Drivers > etc (You would have it already open if you had followed the instructions just like the way
    I have provided)
There you can see 2 host files. One which has already been there and the other one you just saved.
Among the two, one is called “hosts” and the ‘type’ would be ‘file.’ This is the original host file. The other which you have just saved will be named as “hosts.txt” with the
    file type as ‘Text Document.’
Right click on the original host file and select rename. You can even click on that file and press F2. This will enable the option to rename the file. Rename the original host
file as “hostold” and hit enter.
Now, select the second host file which we have saved as a text document and rename it as “hosts.” Make sure that you DELETE the .txt file extension in order to change the type
“Text Document” to “File” and hit enter.
Now, you have successfully saved the host file with your preferences.
You can now delete the file which we renamed as “hostold.”
We are done. You would need to do this process all over if you need to edit the host file again. I know it is difficult, however, it is our own requirement and we have to invest
    few minutes on this.
Enjoy your computer with a great feeling that you have finally edited the host file as per your wish and take it from here. Wish you luck.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

    Hi,
your WebLogic server is not setup to listen for the IP address. You can change this in the WLS console for the server configuration. Note that when you install WLS and don't define any hostname then it will listen to all addresses (which also is the default for the integrated WLS)

  • Loading local swf files from Application Dir (ios)

    Hi Guys,
I would like to load additional local swf files to my ios release build but I am confused a little bit because of the new API changes.
As far as I know at the moment (from Air 3.7 or newer) it is allowed to load local swf files that contains compiled actionscript both from local folder and from a predefined remote host as well.
My assumption based on this article:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/airodynamics/2013/03/08/external-hosting-of-secondary-swfs-for-air- apps-on-ios/
I created the text file to include all of my local swf file names and created the following node in the application.xml:
    <iPhone>
           <externalSwfs>assets/SampleSWFInfoFile.txt</externalSwfs>
    </iPhone>
When I compile the release build (ipa) using command line adt, it converts all of my local swfs into the stripped swfs which is perfect, but even though I include all the swfs in the compiler command, it puts only the SampleSWFInfoFile.txt file into the assets folder in the ipa but not the swf files.
I assume, it thinks I will load these files from an external host, but I would like to include them in the app itself.
I tried to copy the stripped swf files from the externalStrippedSwfs folder and comment the <externalSwfs>assets/SampleSWFInfoFile.txt</externalSwfs> node in the application.xml and compile it and this way it puts the swf files into the ipa, but when I try to install and launch the app it crashes and when I test it using Flash Builder it shows an error message
"VerifyError: Error #1042: Not an ABC file."
Do any of you guys know the  solution for this problem?
Thank you for your help in advance!

You're publishing in AOT mode as long as you use one of these:
The AIR Developer Tool or ADT has targets that lets you package apps either for the AOT mode or Interpreter mode. The targets for packaging in AOT mode are ipa-app-store, ipa-ad-hoc, ipa-test and ipa-debug.
Flash Pro CS6 and Flash Builder automate this process pretty well so it's invisible but the SWF loads and executes code just fine for me when directly published.
If I take it to command line I can use this to compile successfully (iPad test app):
    adt -package -target ipa-ad-hoc -storetype pkcs12 -keystore my.p12 -provisioning-profile my.mobileprovision NameOfApp.ipa NameOfApp-app.xml NameOfApp.swf iTunesArtwork iTunesArtwork@2x AppIconsForPublish swfs/swfs.txt swfs/GenerateText.swf
I at least include generic icons in there but I made a 'swfs' folder and placed 'swfs.txt' and 'GenerateText.swf' in there. The SWF uses code to randomly generate text and changes every second using a Timer. I load it in using the same code you do with the ApplicationDomain.currentDomain context. I see the SWF appear and text start randomly changing.
As I compile there's a folder generated called 'externalStrippedSwfs' with the stripped SWF in there.
One thing to note is I do not supply <externalSwfs>swfs/swfs.txt</externalSwfs> in my iPhone settings. If I do that it doesn't work. I supply the path to the text file containing the SWF I want to be stripped to adt itself along with the SWFs I want stripped and it takes care of the rest.
