Since installing iOS 8, why do I receive new text message alerts when I send text messages?

When I send an outgoing text message, I receive a new text notification in the form of a badge on my text message app. Any ideas how to make this stop?
Specs:
iPhone 5s
iOS 8.0.2

Sonds like you guys are sharing the same apple id.  Go to settings - message - send and receive and make sure your phone number is the default for both phones.

    Suggestions appreciated :]

She is using the message free app and I was just using the regular texting option on my phone. I set up an account on text plus free cuz I thought that might help but she still can't receive them. I can send messages to other people with ipod touches just fine. I just started having a problem with her receiving my texts.

  • Since installing iOS 6, I have had problems receiving calls and messages. Calls go straight to answerphone and messages do not appear until I switch off and on again. I have also installed iOS 6.1.1

Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the iPad, it is similar to rebooting your computer.

  • Since installing IOS 5 on my iphone4, the music gets mixed up and sometimes it won't even play it !

Since installing IOS 5 on my iphone4, the music gets mixed up and sometimes it won't even play it !
Even after many tries of sync, it won't work like before...
    Anyone had the same problem?

Same problem here, but I found a solution that worked for me:
Altered from original solution from Emily P:
Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
    Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
    Working now !!!!!

  • Since installing iOS 5.0 my smart playlists are scrambled

Since installing iOS 5.0 on iPhone my itunes playlists are all out of order, for example "top rated" now seems to play in reverse so that my least requested songs play first. Is there any way to correct this either manualy or automaticly?

Yes, after my own experience and a quick Google search this seems to be a common occurance.
I have filed the following bug report at this address: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Please feel free to file one too!
Subject: Order of songs/podcasts in playlist on iPhone not the same as iTunes.
    Hello,
I make use of different methods of sorting playlists in iTunes (e.g. by rating, by date added, etc).
After upgrading to iOS 5 on an iPhone 4, and on my new iPhone 4S, the order of tracks is not preserved in the Music app.
    Two examples:
    1. A playlist of podcasts that should be sorted by rating descending, on the iPhone they are sorted by rating ascending.
    2. A playlist of music that should be sorted by Album by Artist/Year they are sorted by Date Added.
    Operating system: Mac OS 10.7.2"

    Hi, snewc.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I would recommend going through when a device is not recognized in iTunes.

  • I can't get into certain apps since installing iOS 8?

I'm not able to get into some of my apps since installing iOS 8. As soon as I try, I get kicked out again immediately?

Most likely apps need to update to support new OS.  I had this problem too on several apps.  I checked a few of the apps' websites and those listed issues with ios 8 and indicated updates to the apps were forthcoming.  One such app, Cortex Cam, updated today and now it opens and works.
I would advise checking the websites of the apps in question and notifying them that they need to get their act in gear and provide updates to their apps.

  • I Pad pages won't scroll smoothly since installing IOS 7?

Since installing IOS 7 pages simply don't scroll smoothly. Pages will freeze consistently and then move several seconds later. Wish I had stayed with IOS 6. Help!, I do have all updates as well.

Something is amiss on your iPad.
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
If these don't work use iTunes on your computer to restore your iPad to Factory condition. Test it for performance before restoring any backup.

Sending straight from the mail client in any/all of the Yahoo accounts works just fine. The bug just seems to happen when sending links from Safari.

Me too. Since upgrading to iOS7, Siri  gives me "I'm sorry about this..." MOST of the time. Fine on weather; 100%, but if I ask to send someone a message or text, it 'thinks' for a long time and eventually says "I'm really sorry about this". My friend's iPhone 5 works instantly, side by side; completely different yet same version of iOS and all settings same. I've tried everything: hard resets, switching Siri on and off, reset net prefs and all settings, even tried a different sim, everything I can think of, but Siri is still slow, unresponsive and 100% fails on complex tasks. Anyone any more ideas?

  • My Siri will not open since installing iOS 7

Since installing iOS 7, my Siri won't work, and by won't work I mean won't even open. I've been into restrictions and also double ensured that Siri is turned on but still nothing. Frustrating is the word!!!
    Anybody help?

  • Phone routinely reboots since installing IOS 8

i live on my phone - since installing IOS 8 it "reboots" at least three times a day.  I will be on the call and the other caller goes silent - I look down and there is the apple staring me in the face.  20 seconds later it is back up and most of the time the other caller is still there....  I never upgrade right away because of something like this but made a horrible mistake this time as an early adopter...  Any ideas?  Is there another update coming?

There is very likely an updated version of iOS due in the near future in conjunction to Apple's media event later today. Exactly when remains to be seen, we'll know later today I'm sure. Whether or not it will fix this issue for you specifically remains to be seen.
    In the mean time:
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
A full restore as a new device may be required
Its not out of the question this is hardware rather than software related and its occurrence following the update is merely coincidental. You might want to take the phone in to an Apple store or authorized service center if other measure do not help/.

Since installing iOS 8.1.2 on my iPad, the facebook app stopped working.  Is there a way to fix it or go back to the previous iOS?

Sorry, no. If Facebook isn't compatible with the current iOS it's on Facebook to make its app compatible.
Have you tried to access facebook via safari? I personally abandoned the app years ago due to it being very buggy. I access it via safari with no issues
