Since Time Change, iCal and iPhone Calendar Time Are All Messed Up
Ever since the most recent daylight-savings time change, I noticed all events I created in iCal, when synced with my iPhone, became an hour off. If I edit the event on the iPhone, it stays the correct time on my iPhone, but when it syncs with iCal again, the time on iCal goes off by another hour, even though the time for the event on the iPhone stays correct. (Hopefully that makes sense) Has anyone else experienced this problem? It is incredibly annoying, because now I have no trust in any of my calendar entries as to what the correct time is.
As an example: I created an event for Sunday the 16th on iCal on my Mac for a 1-hour soccer game from 8:00PM - 9:00PM. When I synced my iPhone, I noticed a few days later that the event on my iPhone now said the event was from 9:00PM - 10:00PM...one hour off! I edited the event on my iPhone, and re-synced. Now my iPhone has the correct time (which I manually edited on the phone) but iCal now says the event goes from 7:00PM - 8:00PM. Again, an hour off, but in the reverse direction (an hour off early, rather than late). When I sync now, even though the times on the iPhone and the times on iCal don't match, they do not change...it's as if either the computer or the phone didn't recognize daylight savings time or something, and thinks it has the correct time for the event. Both my Mac and my iPhone's clocks do display the correct time and date, however, so it's not like the system clock is off. It is completely bizarre, and I entered my entire teams schedule this way, so ALL games were off, and now is completely screwed up. Please help.

Yes, I did. I posted an identical post in the iPhone forum since no one answered here. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1791145&tstart=0
The first reply solved the problem. It involved the Time Zone setting in iCal Advanced preferences for me.

upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?
Greetings,
Questions:
1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal. Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once? If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups. They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.
Hope that information helps. -
Iphone calendar colours are all wrong
Dear All,
I'm having an issue with my iPhone 3G (running OS 3).
My iCal and MobileMe Calendar sync correctly, with the right colours. But on my iPhone the colours have arrived all shuffled around.
The details are correct (information, dates, times) - it's just the colours.
I'm assuming that a 'reset sync data' won't help, since my computer and MobileMe seem to be communicating correctly ...
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
RogerSeems to be an issue with the iOS 4 - this was a problem with an old version of the iPhone OS and an older iTunes, fixed over a year ago, and now it seems to have returned.
Here's the kbase that discusses it: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1925. Originally, that article's 'solution' said the behavior was normal. When they fixed it, they changed the solution.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html. -
ICal and iPhone calendars are off by 1 hour from each other
My iCal on desktop G5 and my iCal on my iPhone are syncing but they are an hour off of each other--in other words if I have a lunch scheduled for 11:00 on my desktop G5, it shows at 12:00 on my iPhone. I checked the clocks and they are both correctly on eastern standard time. Any suggestions?
It could be the hidden time zone settings.
The problem is that iPhone has TWO time zone settings -- one for time display and one for the calendar.
Under Settings->General->Date & Time, there is a time zone setting if "Set Automatically" is turned off.
Under Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, there is a setting, too, but it's not obvious. You must scroll to the bottom of this window and select Time Zone Support, then turn it off. It's on by default.
What confuses the user is that the two settings can be different. The latter affects only the calendar. -
How do I facetime with the same email address on the Apple product?
The iphone identification should be its phone number, for other devices, such as ipad, ipod, imac you must generate a new e-mail address for each. You can do this by using Yahoo mail, google mail, or perhaps the e-mail system that your internet service provider offers. The point is, each unit needs its own id.

My iphone 5s pictures are all messed up on my PC icloud pictures
I have been having trouble getting my pictures to my pc. Somehow, even if my iphone is plugged in, connected to wi fi, and I tell it to update the cloud, the pictures never appear on my computer. I tried logging out and in to icloud, and this made things worse. Now I have a bunch of bogus directories in icloud that I cannot even get to, and the pictures appear in strange places. For example, the pictures I took today appear in a directory dated in January. How can I straighten this out? I would like to delete the bogus directories and have the pictures in the order they are on my iphone.
I am using windows 8.Settings> general aand turn off handoff. You are using the same email address for iCloud is what's the problem.

When I try to update the apps on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 they are stuck in waiting.
When I try update my apps on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 they are all stuck in waiting.
I have tried:
restarting my device
signing out of the store and restarting the device and signing back in
reset all settings
double taping on "waiting" apps
All my softwear is up to date. I know that apps only download one at a time but I have checked them all and they are all in waiting. I am connected to wifi.
HELP!This is strange, but it may be a fix for my problem. These are the steps I took to possibly fix my problem. Before trying this I noticed that not only are all apps that are being updated listed as "Waiting", but new apps being installed were also listed as "Waiting".
I unselected "Sync Apps" in iTunes on my Mac. A sync automatically started and all the apps, other than the standard apps were removed.
I selected "Sync Apps" and chose just one app to install. I chose iBooks because it's an Apple app and because there is significant content associated with it through my purchases. The iBooks app installed without issue.
I selected a larger group of apps to install (basically all those that began with the letter "A"). These apps installed fine and are useable.
I selected all the apps I wanted on my iPad. These apps (113 total) all installed without being listed as "Waiting".
I used the App Store on my iPad and chose one app to update. The app was immediately listed as "Waiting" and when tapped was listed as "Paused".
I removed the app from the iPad and reinstalled it via iTunes on my Mac. The app installed fine and works great.
I accessed the iTunes Store and went to the screen "My App Updates". I selected the same app I tried to update in Step 5. The update work fine.
I synced my iPad and the newly updated app was installed on my iPad without issue.
This tells me that the issue lies within the process that updates apps on the iPad. If the app is updated in iTunes proper on my Mac, the updated app is installed on the iPad without issue.
I've only tried this with one app. I will now update all the apps on my Mac via iTunes and see if the newer versions install correctly on the iPad after syncing.
I hope this helps other people having this problem.

ICal and iCloud Calendar Appointments Problems Following Daylight Savings Time Change
This morning following the daylight savings time change, I noticed that some but not all of my appointments had shifted forward an hour. Strangely enough, some are correct on the iCloud calendar but are still not correct in iCal. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Here's another anomaly: the info panel is showing the correct time while the calendar view is not! I have turned off time zone support in both iCal and the iCloud calendar. It's so frustrating when you rely on these tools--especially for appointments--and you find that you can't trust them to be accurate!
samdale67,
Have you had any luck fixing this problem yet?
I just noticed today that my iCloud calendar is consistently one hour behind my iPhone4s calendar. It's as if my iCloud calendar never got the Daylight Savings Time Spring Forward message. The iPhone, on the other hand, updated to DST right on schedule. It's annoying because I'm starting to use my iCloud calendar and would like the time change to be applied.

IPhone calendar time problem post daylight savings time change
Addendum to the similar post about a one hour differential between iCal and iPhone. THis is not just iCal. I have the same problem on WIndows XP/Outlook 2003. Everythign worked fine until the time change last weekend. Now this is what happens:
Any meeting set up in Outlook BEFORE Daylight Savings that has a start date BEFORE Daylight Savings appears properly on iPhone. FOr example, every Thursday beginning Nov 1 at 8am. THis shows up correct in iPhone at 8am for today, Nov 8.
But, any meeting set up AFTER Daylight Savings shows up one hour later on the iPhone when I sync. SO a meeting I set up in OUtlook for 10am today shows up at 11am on the iPhone.
And, any calendar event I set up on the iPhone AFTER Daylight Savings shows up one hour earlier in Outlook 2003.
THis is a huge problem for me! Both of my calendars are wrong now. PLease help!!! I have tried everything I can:
I tried setting up meetings with the OUtlook Daylight Savings setting enables and disabled: no change. No differnce whether I set up the meeting on my PC or it is an invitation from someone else. I lost all sync history. no change. I overwrote all calendar content (in iPhone advanced options) - no change.
And, as my fellow poster mentions - the tiime on the two systems match.I think this problem is more complex. Background - UK clocks went back at the end of October; the USA went back one week later. I am in the UK and my Outlook calendar contains appointments created in the USA.
Someone in the USA created a recurring appointment before any clocks went back. In Outlook everything is correct. The meeting times are the same each week except for the one week between the two clock changes when, quite correctly, the meeting shows up one hour earlier. When I sync with my iPhone, the meeting shows at the same time every week regardless - this is incorrect.
Someone in the USA created a recurring appointment in the week after the UK clocks went back but before the USA clocks did. Outlook correctly shows the first occurrence as one hour earlier than all the following occurrences. Unfortunately - and this is the really nasty bit - the iPhone shows ALL the appointments one hour earlier than they should be. The only one that is correct is the first one.
This is a nasty bug and something that Apple needs to fix. -
Having "fun" attempting to sync iPAD and iPhone calendars; both appear to be set to London, UK time zones, but after entering a meeting on e.g. iPAD, it appears in Buenos Aires time in iPhone? I have been to Buenos Aires... both bits of kit were purchased and set up in the UK. Help?

I have got and iPad 2 and iPhone 4s and I need to do a back up of docs, music and photos between Ipad and iphone an Time Capsule.
You backup iOS devices to iTunes.. the iTunes then keeps the files and they are backed up via TM.
To copy the files, you need to download a file app.. just look up file app, and that will allow you to copy files to and from the TC.. you cannot sync to the TC. There is no TM type app for iOS.. and in fact the file apps do not use AFP at all. -
I just upgraded to the new mobile me calendar and now all my calendar entries on iCal have been erased. As I type this the calendar entries are still on the mobile me and iphone calendars. How do I restore the calendar entries to iCal?
Please always post your System details when you have a query. The upgrade to the new MobileMe calendar produces different results, and different problems, with different versions of OSX.
Snow Leopard: during the upgrade process your iCal calendars should be moved to MobileMe (this can take some time and you have to wait for it to happen). Once done, your iCal reads the calendars from MobileMe so any changes made in either place will be visible immediately. If this has not happened then this Apple Tech Note provides instructions:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3397
Leopard: when the upgrade is completed iCal on Leopard will not be able to see the MobileMe calendars until an additional process is carried out, detailed in this Apple Tech Note:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4330
Tiger: iCal on Tiger cannot read the MobileMe calendars, period. The only workaround is to upgrade to Leopard, or Snow Leopard if possible (Intel Mac required). -
Solving an Outlook sync time mismatch problem on iPhone calendar
I was recently in spain and my time automatically updated. I was using automatic time zone correction in Settings/General/Date & Time with "set automatically" and under calendar "time zone support" was "ON".
However, upon returning home, apparently, that "auto time zone" didn't work properly. My time updated properly, and everything else was fine, but upon my next sync, all of my appointments were 4 hours off. (my trip to Spain had a 6 hour difference... so it wasn't exactly that).
By going into Settings/General/Date and searching for a city in my time zone, and selecting it, my calendar items' time was corrected.Based on your response it sounds like this particular featureset is a bit more capable and complex than I'd originally hoped.
I didn't recall choosing any city while in Spain, as the time on the phone updated on its own, and I hadn't started sync'ing the calendar with Outlook yet at that point.
When I returned home, I did my first calendar sync, and again hadn't chosen any city upon return, then after choosing a local city, the time corrected.
Everything is working fine now (as it wasn't posted as a question) but this is a discussion I hadn't found on here and thought it was a worthwhile discussion to have since I surely can't be the only person whose run into the misunderstanding in functionality.
