Since upgrading to IOS8 i can no longer open any email attachements. The usual view only tells me witch kind of document is attached. If i say open in dropbox or an other programm, nothing happens

Guess the title should tell everything. It always worked, since update cant open attachements

Similar problem here. My Ical refuses to edit or delete events. Viewing is possible, though sometimes the whole screen turns grey. Adding new events from mail is still possible. The task-pane completely disappeared. My local apple technic-centre messed about with disk utility for a bit and than told me to reinstall leopard. I could of course do that, but it seems to me that reinstalling Leopard just to fix iCal events is a bit invasive.
I tried also tried removing everything, installing a new copy of iCal from the leopard-cd, software updates, all to no avail.
At the moment I'm open to all suggestions that do not include a complete leopard reinstall.

Since upgrading to IOS8 I can't send or receive emails. Can I uninstall?

    That's strange.
I bet you updated your iPad without using iTunes.
    Anyway
No, you cannot uninstall iOS 8 and downgrade to iOS 7, but you can try reinstall iOS 8.
I would suggest you to do it from DFU mode.
Here are some things you need to know before proceeding:
You WILL NOT lose your photos, messages, notes, reminders or anything on your device.
If you choose to backup on iTunes, you will NOT lose your Apps. Anyway, if that happens someway, (it shouldn't happen, don't worry) you can download them later for FREE.
    Here's how to proceed:
-First of all, as usual, do a complete backup of your device either on iCloud or your iTunes (i personally suggest iTunes. If iTunes asks to backup Apps, agree.)
-Put your device in DFU [While the iPad is connected to iTunes, press and hold both the home and the power button. When the Apple logo appears, release the power button and keep holding the home button until you see the iTunes logo on the iPad screen.]
-Once your device is in DFU mode, iTunes will automatically detect it as an iPad in recovery mode, so it will ask you to restore your iPad.
-Click on Restore and accept iOS 8 terms and conditions to continue the installation.
-Wait for iTunes to download and install the software.
-Once your iPad restarts, you will be guided to the configuration of your iPad. When it asks you if you want to configure it as a new iPad or restore from a backup, choose the iTunes or iCloud backup depending on where your backup is.
-Wait for iTunes to restore your device.
    You're done!
Now test your device and let me know if everything works well!
    Cheers, @tooFrozen

  • Since upgrading to yosemite, I can no longer find any Windows Computers on my domain

We upgraded two out of three iMacs to Yosemite a while back.  Since that time, the two that are on Yosemite cannot see any non-mac computers in the network browser.  We can manually connect by going to Go / Connect to Server in Finder, and it works using either the IP or the relative path (smb://cpu1234/share).  The Mavericks computer still sees the entire network with no problems.
Does anyone know how to fix this uber-frustrating issue?

    Hi olejim51,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're not able to connect to your ISPs mail server on your iMac or MacBook Air.
There could be several causes of the error message you're seeing. I would start with the steps in the "Mail Connection Doctor shows one or more red dots in the account Status column" section of this article to troubleshoot the message:

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can't run Mail and Safari at the same time.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can't run Mail and Safari at the same time.
Either Mail will crash or the iMac will run so slowly as to be unusable. With both running, the HDD spins constantly at a high rate of speed.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Since updating to ios7 i can no longer partially download emails and this is using up all my data plan. How can I make Mail only be partially downloaded again?

Since updating to ios7 i can no longer partially download emails and this is using up all my data plan. How can I make Mail only be partially downloaded again?

YEA!  My jurryrig worked!  To all with this problem:
You CAN have podcasts in a regular playlist IF you convert them to a standard MP3 first.  So, yes, a lot of manual labor
The good news: if, like me, it is a track that you listen to frequently (in my case meditations for sleep and relaxation) then the time is worth it.  I will mess with automator later to see if there is anyway to script this!  Then, less work for me and more for my mac.
    Here are the steps:
Select the file from your Podcast folder.
Change all data you need -- "artist," "album" etc...
Make a copy of the cover art for this file by dragging it to the desktop.
Select the Advanced -> Convert ID3 Tags menu item.
Check ID3 tag version, and select "v1.0" from the drop-down menu.
Drag the file to the desktop (this will make a copy of the MP3 on the desktop)
Delete the file from the iTunes list.
Drag the copy of the file you have on the Desktop back into iTunes.
Search for the file in the Library, and add the cover art again to the file.
Now the file is out of the Podcasts folder and works like a regular MP3 file inside iTunes. You can re-add it back to playlists!

As the title suggests! I can no longer see any of the computers in my network, Mac or otherwise.

  • Since upgrading to Yosemite, I can no longer print to my Kodak AiO.  The fix on Kodak site does not work.

Since upgrading my Macbook to Yosemite 10, I can no longer print to my Kodak AiO 5250.  The fix on Kodak site with Terminal does not prompt to password like it says it will.  Macbook has all available upgrades completed.  Printer works with a PC.

This is where I found the Kodak fix:  http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/49247/selected/true
I'm not really comfortable in 'Terminal' but tried it.  Nothing happened after pasting in the first command.  The fix says it will ask for password.
I see now this seems to be a pretty common problem, I would have thought Apple would fix it with an update for the number of complaints I've found.  Since Kodak is in receivership or bankruptcy, I would think it's unlikely they will have any more solutions.  I feel like Yosemite stole my printer.

  • Since upgrading to iOS7 I can no longer connect to Wi-Fi, what gives?

Under Settings, it shows that Wi-Fi is off ... when I open the option and try to turn it on, nothing happens.  The switch won't move.

    Hey g00b3r,
It sounds like the Wi-Fi option might be grayed out on your device to where you can't use it. I would follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Ensure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If your issue is still unresolved, perform a software restore in iTunes.

Since I started using FireFox version 4, every time I open a "new window", all other instances of FireFox windows open up. This is annoying as it often covers up instances I am currently using with instances that I don't wish to use right now. I can't seem to find a way to keep this behavior from occurring.

My I-mac and Macbook air will not receive e-mail since installing Yosemite  but I can still get e-mail on my I-pad. I have verified with my ISP that everything is working correctly on their end. Message by Inbox says Mail cannot send password securely to the server. Any fixes?

  • Since upgrading toFirefox 4, I can no longer return to my e-mail message from an on-line attachment without shutting down the browser since there is no "close tab" option

Formerly, an e-mail with a website, photo, etc. attachment that I opened required only that I click close tab return to my e-mail message. Since upgrading a few days ago, the only option present is to exit, which now requires re-opening firefox then my e-mail browser. Any website I am examining that I want to close automatically exits me from Firefox.

there should be an X on the right side of each tab. clicking on it should close that tab

  • Just upgraded to Lion and can no longer import any .mov files ("file not supported") to 3.1.3.  Also can no longer view any .mov or .mp4 files already in library.

Have been using Aperture 3.1.3 with no problems.  Importing from a Nikon D80 (RAW & JPEG), Casio (.MOV) and Flip (.mp4).  Could import and view all videos without issue prior to Lion upgrade.  After Lion installation, can no longer import .mov files (get "file not supported" error) or even view any .mov or .mp4 files currently in library (even though thumbnail is present).  Can watch the .mov files directly on my camera using Quicktime in Finder but can't even drag & drop that file into Aperture.  Anybody else having similar problems?

Still no resolution and Geniuses at store could not assist.  Unfortunately, it looks like not all the applications were ready to support the Lion operating system.  We could not import any .mov files, could no longer view any .mov files already in my Aperture library and could not email any .mov files.  Totally frustrated.  Use Aperture almost daily and can't lose the video functionality.  Was also running dog-slow.  Constantly looking at the spinning wheel.  Geniuses suggested that I wipe out hard drive and reinstall Snow Leopard.  Had full backup on external drive with Time Machine.
Not an easy process though...had to reinstall several times (at 5 hours each time) because I continued to have issues.  Finally figured out that I needed to delete every backup file from Time Machine on external drive from the date I installed Lion because some of the hidden files were still migrating back to Snow Leopard.
    I had to:
    1. Delete all time machine backup files from date/time of Lion installation forward
    2. Do "clean" installation of Snow Leopard (wiped hard drive using disk utility and booted with Snow Leopard disc)
    3. Chose option to reinstall from backup off Time Machine which eventually got me back to Snow Leopard desktop
    4. Deleted Aperture program and reinstalled (I had to install Aperture 2 and then install Aperture 3 upgrade.
    5. Reinstalled iLife apps
    5. Applied all Apple updates available (again this took a few hours because there were several updates from Snow Leopard's original release plus Aperture 3 and other application updates)
Still doing some tweaking on some of my other apps but got everything back to where I originally was.  Now plan to wait on a few version updates from Lion before reinstalling.
I am one of Apple's biggest fans, but was very disappointed in the fact that I lost functionality in one of their own pieces of software (which I use the most!)  by installing Lion.
