Since upgrading to Mavericks and new Pages, I can't print. Anyone have a solution?

Since I loaded Mavericks and new Pages, I get an unending spinning rainbow wheel when I try to print. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have a solution?

I just updated my print drivers. I changed my default printer away from our office Toshiba e-Studio 233 and I can print to my other printers. So, it seems to be a problem with the Toshiba printer...which does not have an updated driver. Hmm...

  • Macbook pro running painfully slowly since upgrade to Mavericks and worse since Yosemite

Hi, since upgrading to Mavericks my previously excellent 2011 Macbook Pro is running painfully slowly, and things have only got worse since the upgrade to Yosemite. It takes anything up to 10 minutes to get fully functional from opening the lid on standby, can take a good 5 minutes to connect to wifi, and I am getting stuck with constant spinning beach balls. I've cleaned things up, and deleted anything unnecessary so I have adequate space on the HDD but this doesn't seem to make any difference, and I'm not running any particularly memory hungry software. It was working perfectly before these upgrades and I'm really wishing I could just downgrade back to Mountain Lion now! I'm no expert so could really use some help. Do I just need more RAM or is this something more complicated?
I've run Etresoft and here are the results (I note there is some adware listed on Safari, but I don't use it ,using Chrome and Firefox instead):

  • I recently did a software update, and now all my macbook pro i7 processor does is beep and it wont start up. Does anyone have any solutions?

Just did a software update, and all that my Macbook Pro does is just beep. Does anyone have any solutions?

It was a list of about five updates, but the one that stands out is the Lion OS X complete update - I think.

  • Using VPN to access remote servers; copying files to desktop since "upgrading" to Mavericks no longer works. Can anyone help please?

    Hi everyone,
I work remotely using Cisco AnyConnect (company provided) to access the company servers. Until "upgrading" to Mavericks I was able to copy files directly to my desktop – from either the servers themselves, from within Bridge, and/or by using the finder - you get the idea. Now I can only copy the files by opening them while still on the server using the native app (in my case mainly InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator files) and saving them to my desktop that way.
I'm a designer, I use a lot of files for my specific job every day and these files are often pretty large and doing it this way is time-consuming and really frustrating seeing as I had no such issues with the previous OS. It's not a total nightmare (yet) like some of things some of you are dealing with but I've spent more time restarting, freezing and trying to fix issues than I have actually using my darned machine. I have no choice but to access my work this way; I'm part of a much larger team and we all work on these files off and on during the day so I'm constantly needing to copy files and make sure I'm working on the most current version. Working off the server isn't an option as the speed decreases considerably... making the slightest task cringingly slow. As in 25 minutes for a PDF to be created slow.
I've been used to my system running smoothly, without issues and fast so this upgrade is turning into a bit of a nightmare. Before I throw in the towel and try and downgrade, does anyone have any ideas? My technical knowledge where these things are concerned isn't beginner but I'm no expert  and I'm stumped. I just don't know where to start and I'm afraid of screwing something else up during the process of trying to fix this (so far) one issue and creating a snowball effect.
I'm using a 27" iMac (late model 2012 purchased in March 2013) with a second Viewsonic monitor attached. I have a Cintiq 22HD hooked up (but not on all the time) and a Wacom tablet in use. I currently use both CS5 (work hasn't upgraded to CC yet) and Adobe CC (for personal use) on my system.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    G.

    Hi,
By default, the Remote Desktop (RD) Gateway component that encapsulates RDP in HTTPS packets listens on port 443 (for TCP) and port 3391 (for UDP). After you changed the ports in Transport Settings tab, please make sure that you have opened the custom ports
    you selected in Windows Firewall.
In addition, since you have mentioned the registry key, would you please share the entire path?
It seems that you need to manually update the gateway in the RDP file with the port. Have you created an .rdp file? You can also refer to the link below:
    Create an .rdp file
    Best regards,
    Susie

  • If I have word, excel, and powerpoint on my computer already, when i update to mavericks and get pages, keynote, etc., will I still have my word, excel, and powerpoint?

I have word, excel, and powerpoint on my computer already.  I have seen some people with the new maverix, and they use keynote and pages.  I do not want to use those programs, so I am wondering what will happen if I update tot mavericks.  I DO NOT want to loose word, excel, and ppt, so does anyone know if all my stuff will stay??  Or will I be forced to use keynote, pages....?

No, you do not have to use keyote, Pages and Numbers. As long as your Office Version is current (2004 will not work anymore). You will not lose them, although be sure to backup your system before updating in case anything should go wrong. I personally am not a hugh fan of Keynote and Pages and work with Office for Mac most of the time.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

  • Reinstalled Aperture after a computer erase and re-install and now it will not open. Anyone have a solution? I'm operating on 10.6.8 and have an older version of Aperture (2010)

I re-installed Aperture after a computer erase and disk repair. Reinstalled from my back-up hard drive using migration assitant. Now it will not open. The message I get is this: Aperture cannot b opened because of a problem. Then goes on to say "check with the developer blah blah blah..." even though this is an Apple product. These are the things that drive me to distraction. Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion for a fix??

    Your Aperture version?
Is your signature Mac OS X (10.4) current?
Reinstalled from my back-up hard drive using migration assitant. Now it will not open.
Aperture is best be reinstalled by running the installer, not by migrating.
Before you spend money, reinstall Aperture from your installation media (or from the Trial version download  Aperture 3.1 Trial     , if you are running Aperture 3)
Then update it immediately from the Apple  menu> Software update, launch it, and enter your serial number(s).
Are you really sure that there is no crash log?
The message you are quoting is usually a part of the crash report, when Aperture crashes directly on opening. Do you see this?
Aperture cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Aperture works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install available updates for the application and OS X.
This report will be sent to Apple automatically.
And what we would need to see, are the first 50 lines of the  "This report ...."

    connection errors and Maverick!

I just updated my print drivers. I changed my default printer away from our office Toshiba e-Studio 233 and I can print to my other printers. So, it seems to be a problem with the Toshiba printer...which does not have an updated driver. Hmm...

  • I upgraded to Yosemite and new Numbers.  Can not use my spreadsheet and can not find it.  How do I retrieve from time machine a previous backup?

I just upgraded to Yosemite on a MacBook Pro and also needed to upgrade Numbers.  However, I can not get a spreadsheet that I had prior to this.  I did backup to time machine.  How do I now restore to get that spreadsheet?

Open the folder you thought it was in and Enter Time Machine. Go back in time until your find it.
You can also use the search field in the Finder window in Time Machine to search for the file.

  • Having issues with iPad air.. It's constantly rebooting and giving me a blue screen. Anyone have a solution?

    iPad Air
    operating system ios8.1.3
I've had no success troubleshooting the problem I'm having with my iPad Air. Started after I updated the software to the new version . Once update was complete I encountered my screen looked funny with wiggly lines and then the screen turned blue. I tried to reboot it by holding down the home and the off at the same time but that only turned it off and then back on and the same thing happened all over again. Now my iPad air only continues to reboot when I turn it on. Is it possible for Apple or Mac products to get a virus? I'm hope someone has a solution to this problem I'd like to know if there's anyone else out there that's experiencing this issue with the iPad Air.

This is not a virus. It sounds like it could be a hardware problem.
First, try resetting your device. Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
If that doesn't help, try restoring your device from backups, and if that doesn't help, restore it to factory settings (ie, do not restore a backup). See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If none of that helps, the issue is caused by some kind of hardware problem, and the device will need to be repaired or (more likely) replaced.

  • Unable to print with HP Color LaserJet 2605dn since Upgrading to Mavericks

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I've had nothing but problems printing to my HP Color Laserjet 2605dn.
I'm having this problem on both my iMac and my MacBook Pro.
    I get errors like:
"unable to write pirnt data broken pipe"
"unable to send data to printer"
    "printer not connected"
I've been reading responses to others with similiar issues and I've tried
    deleting and re-adding my printer.
    reseting my printing system
    Installing Guenprint.
re-adding my pirnter with a generic PCL driver.
None seem to correct the problem.
This problem happens both when connected directoy with USB and when connected through the network.
I have no problem printing with my work (Wondows) laptop.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, a brody.
Yesterday (before I read your response), I downloaded the latest firmware (20140413.) (What do they say about great minds?)
I thought the issue may have been resolved.
I was finally able to print my bank statement on both the iMac and MacBook.
Today, I'm back to the the same issues.
Very frustrating, even though I've had the printer for five years, I've printed less than 20,000 pages.
In my mind, it's pointing more and more towards a hardware issue.

  • Problems since upgrading to Mavericks

I am experiencing problems with CC applications since upgrading to Mavericks. Mostly Screen and display issues.
In Photoshop, the top menu bar where the red, yellow , green window buttons normally sit has disappeared and it seems I cannot drag the window down to reveal (if that is the problem)
In Indesign, The program opens but I cannot see any workspace at all, even when I open an existing ID file.
Premiere Pro, Bridge,  appear to work OK
After effects and Muse indicated both required upgrades, yet the CC application Manager does not indicate any upgrades required or available.
I have not tried other apps.
Is anyone else experiencing problems since upgrading to Mavericks and if so, does anyone know if Adobe are working on fixes?

I upgraded to Mavericks on two computers and have display problems too! I have CC on one Macbook Pro (2011) and CS6 on another (2012) and I'm now almost positive my display problems are triggered by InDesign. I don't have to be doing anything special, and I don't have to be working in InDesign at the time, but InDesign has to be open and I get things like this:
Once it turns magenta or green, that's when I have to boot the system. I can still work with the glitchy display before it turns colors and if I'm still able to quit InDesign while it's glitching, the display goes back to normal. Same on both computers and the 2011 one has a new logic board in it.
At first I thought it had something to do with connecting my hard drive or my external display, but the display issues happened with both computers with nothing hooked up. Those are ruled out now. I took my 2012 computer to Apple and they told me it was a software issue and all my hardware is ok. Obviously they didn't fix the software issue because it's still happening.
This is not normal and needs to be fixed soon!

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, what to do with existing Pages as opposed to new downloaded Pages?

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can't use Pages in the dock. Have to go to utilities to use Pages. Do I remove the old Pages from the dock and then move new Pages to dock or what?

Calendar is a system app that lives in the Applications folder, as such it is the same app as the original Calendar.app. Pages is a new app & replaces the last version, however Apple think you may still need the old version so they moved it aside & created a new one inside the apps folder. It's unclear what is the right thing to do with the Dock icon in this case, because of the two copies.
Both should still work, the older one has some features that the new one doesn't, so keep both around if you have a lot of Pages files, you never know when it might be needed.

  • I have just upgraded to Mavericks and have been using Time Machine on an external disk with Snow Leopard.  Can I continue to backup with Time Machine on the same external disk or do I need a new disk since the operating system has changed?

I have just upgraded to Mavericks and have been using Time Machine on an external disk with Snow Leopard.  Can I continue to backup with Time Machine on the same external disk or do I need a new disk since the operating system has changed?

    Hi there,
I found that Time Machine in Mavericks will sort it all out for you. You shouldn't need to buy another backup drive, unless you have insufficient space left and can't afford to delete whats on there. It should just work fine.

  • Can't open Pages '09 Document (Upgraded to Mavericks and Pages 5.0))

There is one Pages '09 file that I can not open now that I have upgraded to Mavericks and the new Pages.  Of course it is an assignment that my son needs for school!  When I double-click on it I get the message that the document could not be read, that it does not have a valid format.  I tried opening it with the 4.3 version of Pages, but get the same result.  I also tried to pull the document from the time machine, and same problem.
Any suggestions/work-arounds?  I tried simply renaming the file format--no luck.  Do I need to repair permissions?
    I am on a 3-week old iMac 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 with 8GB 1600 MHz DDr3, 1GB old school drive.
    Jim

Maybe try what was suggested here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5466954?tstart=0
"I had this problem with both pages and numbers so I closed all the background apps did a reset by holding down the home and power buttons and now they both work."
