Since upgrading to Yosemite my iPhoto, iMovie and Garage band has simply disappeared from my Mac. HELP!?

Hi Jdireen,
As someone who uses the iLife applications on a daily basis on my Mac I can understand how it would be upsetting to have them disappear suddenly. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
You can download the applications again and reinstall them from the Mac App Store -
GarageBand - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/garageband/id682658836?mt=12
iMovie - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/imovie/id408981434?mt=12
iPhoto - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iphoto/id408981381?mt=12
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Best,
Brett L

  • Re installed os x but iPhoto, iMovie and garage band missing. any way to recover the apps?

anyway to recover my those apps? or my only option is to buy them?

The installer discs that shipped with your Mac should have a restore installer for installing them, if you didn't buy them originally from the App Store.  If you did buy them from the App Store, you may be able to ask them to be rereleased for download from http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact.html?form=account&topic=MacAp pStoreAccountandBilling
If you bought the machine from a non-Apple authorized source, ask them to call AppleCare for the original discs to be sent to you.  Otherwise call AppleCare yourself for the original discs:

  • Is iPhoto and iMovie and garage band on Lion reinstall thumb drive from Apple??

Is iphoto and imovie and garage Band On the Os x Lion reinstall thumb Drive Sold By Apple???

No.  iLife is a separate product that is bundled with the purchase of a new Mac, not the purchase of a new OS.
So, anyone with an older Mac would have pay for an upgrade to iLife in addition to paying for an upgrade to Lion.
On a positive note, you can now upgrade separate components in the App Store (i.e. iPhoto), instead of paying for the complete iLife suite

  • IMovie and Garage Band gone after Mountain Lion upgrade.

I upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion by buying it in the itunes store and uploading it.  Now, imovie and garage band are gone.  I have nothing in My Purchases, as these came with my mac when I bought it, and I don't think I have a cd.  Can I get these back without buying new?

As shldr said, iLife applications (iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand, iDVD and iWeb) came preinstalled on your Mac, so if you made a clean install of Mac OS X, they were deleted because Mac OS X doesn't include iLife apps.
In order to install the iLife applications again, you need the Applications DVD that came with your Mac, so insert it and follow the steps to install your iLife applications. If you haven't got the DVD, call Apple to get replacement DVDs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 After installing the applications, open Apple menu > Software Update to install the most recent version

Try creating a new user and see if the application runs in that user account.
If it works, then it is something in your user account (preferences, caches, login items) that is causing a conflict.
It it dies not, then you should remove the application using FCS Remover, and download a fresh copy from your purchases in the App Store.

  • Ever since upgrading to Yosemite, Aperture is slow and basically unusable. Every click results in spinning wheel.

Ever since the upgrade to Yosemite, my Aperture application will not let me perform any tasks. I have let it run over night and many times to do database repairs etc... and nothing seems to work. Any recommendations on what I can do to help get the application back to a better state?

and many times to do database repairs etc...
Have you also rebuild the Aperture Library?
Have you opened the "Activity" window to check, which tasks Aperture is running? (Window > Show Activity)
Sometimes Aperture may be trying to process a corrupted image or video over and over again. Then it will help to identify the problematic item and to delete it from the library.
If you cannot find anything suspicious in the Activity window, try to find out, if your aperture library has a problem by testing with a new, empty Aperture library. Just add a few photos and check, if Aperture is more responsive.
If Aperture does not even work with a new library, check in a different user account, for example the Guest user.

  • Since upgrading to Yosemite my system freezes and crashes and gets panic messages

My 2009 13 in Mac freezes, beeps, crashes about 10 minutes after it comes on since I upgraded to Yosemite.  Help please.

Good advice from Linc Davis that should sort out your query i think...
However you dont want to set your MBP to never go to sleep...
    Adjust reasonable sleep settings...
And the download an APP called caffiene...
When you click it you can have your MBP never go to sleep with a single click of your menu bar... and with another click it can go to sleep normally to maintain the laptop...
Simply click the cup... To toggle never sleep/sleep

  • What has caused an app I purchased (Family Tree Maker for Mac) and currently have installed, to disappear from the Mac Store. Does this mean it is no longer sold?  If so, how will I get update notices or re-download if needed?

I purchased and installed Family Tree Maker for Mac from the App Store about 6 months ago.  I heard that possibly a new version was coming, though I had not received any update notice.  I went to the App Store and it no longer shows the app, either as available for purchase or as an app I have previously purchased.  So I can't get any information on the app, support, etc..  How can an app I have purchased disappear from the purchased list???  How can I get update information or support links? (contacted FTM website and phone support and they said if I bought my program from App store, I have to get update information there).....the Update Info button in my program is actually greyed out!!  So the program I bought doesn't even have the normal update link!!  I thought one of the advantages of App Store purchase was being able to redownload the program in the unlikely event it was lost....ie: no need to worry about having the install CD.  So now I only have my installed, operating copy and no way to reinstall if it crashes due to corrupt data, etc.!!  Not a happy result from an App Store purchase!  And I must say the circular references in the support link are frustarting...apparently there is NO live support for the App Store itself!

Thanks for THAT tip: iTunes acct. history DOES show my (few) Mac app purchases, buried in with my MANY iPhone and iPad apps!  So I CAN prove I bought it (7 months ago, not 6), but you wouldn't know it from the App Store app on my Mac!  But that does leave a few other ?'s hanging: like how could I download it again, or check for updates (as I said, the version installed has the "update" button greyed out!  Ancestry.com (who sells it online and support it for other buyers said update info for App Store purchasers comes through the App Store.
I may just be out of luck with this because after 7 months of ownership, they (Ancestry) just replaced FTM with a new version (Family Tree Maker for Mac2) that is NOT an upgrade (though prior owners get $4.00 off on a $52.00 purchase!!).  I'll probably just plump for that....direct from Ancestry.com...and give up on the Mac App Store, because the new version reportedly has major enhancements in sync-ing your family history record between your computer and the cloud program available online.  Genealogy software, like everything else is migrating to the cloud, but one really does need a resident program on their device because you're often collecting data "in the field" in libraries, historical archives, cemeteries, etc. where you really can't get online in many cases.  Fortunately, more and more of the source data is coming online, so more and more can be done from home!

  • I upgrade OS-X Mavericks and I lost my iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand and so on, is there a way to get it installed?

    I have a pre-installed  OS-X Mountain Lion Mac book air(2012). I upgrade OS-X Mavericks.
After the upgrade i lost my iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand and so on ....
I checked my purchased from app store. But i can not see anything.
When I want to install from app store, it wants me to pay for them.
By the way I have no any backup for OS-X Mountain Lion.
How can I have these aplication on to OS-X Mavericks without paying?
Also, can I return back to OS-X Mountain Lion and How?

You should be able to install your iLife applications from the App Store. This Apple Knowledge Base article has the directions.
OS X Lion: About Lion Recovery
Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion  If you reinstall Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion installed, on an erased or replaced hard drive, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store. After installation, start from Lion.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to compete installation of your applications.

If you want just the originals, then you can go into the Aperture library (right click on it and do "show package contents"). Inside is a directory called "Masters" and you can find the original files in a bunch of subfolders.
But... you'll lose all adjustments, keywords, and other information, and just have the files as they were imported originally from the cameras.
Easiest is probably to buy Aperture and update everything, and then migrate to the Photos application down the road if that's what you want. Aperture 3.0 came out in 2010 (five years ago!) so it's not like you've upgraded in a while

iMovie wii no longer share with iDVD.  I just upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.2 and now I can't get iDVD to work properly.  Any thoughts?  This is what comes up.....

iDVD does work with Yosemite although, as Kappy pointed out unsupported for 2 years, so try this basic troubleshooting fix:
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
    User/Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents of IDVD'S cache folder: User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you're running Mavericks or Yosemite go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
If iDVD crashes again post the first 50 lines of the crash report.  Don't post a screenshot but copy and paste the actual text.
To get a movie from iMovie to iDVD it should be exported out of iMovie as 480p and added manually to iDVD.

You need Silverlight. That is the application that plays the Netflix movies.
