My own opinion is that you should install the later appropriate version of Silverkeeper. That said, I would in fact recommend if you can wait a few days for an answer, that you email the La Cie Silverkeeper backup team via the email link on the site at http://www.lacie.com/silverkeeper/
They are careful to say they are not officially providing a backup service, but when I emailed them with a query regarding usage about a year ago after downloading Silverkeeper for myself, I got a reply within a couple of days that cleared up my question.

How did you install it in the first place? If it came with your Mac, and the Mac didn't come with Lion installed, then reinstall iLife from the Applications disc that was in the box. If you no longer have that disc, you'll have to order a replacement from Apple customer service. Either that, or restore the iPhoto application from your backups.
If you got iPhoto from the App Store, you can download it again by launching the App Store application.

You may need to update the software. For now, set up as a new iPhone and then go to Settings > General > Software Update. Update to the latest iOS (5.1.1), then go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings to go through setup again and see if your backup appears.

Launch Photos while holding down the alt/options key.
This will show the Library Chooser panel. Select the library on the external drive. Photos will create a Photos Library on the same drive.
Photos may not be able to open the library, however, if your external drive has an incompatible file system. It needs to be formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled) and locally mounted, not a remotely mounted volume, as described here: Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture

However, it wont let me restore it without losing all of my music and what not that i got for the new one. I would like to continue to use the old one, but I am afraid of losing all of my current stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can restore the old and keep the new? I am in desperate need.

Well, two thoughts.
The battery has completely discharged and will take overnight to recharge, so don't expect much in an hour.
The battery has deep discharged and is now dead. It will never recharge and should be replaced.

I want to preserve my pix on an external hard drive and organize them. I am currently using external drive on iMAC and a separate one on Macbook that is outdated. I use them with TM for backup. Can I transfer pix data only to the iMAC via a transfer cable and then send all photos to new external drive for access and safe storage? I am confused about backup not preserving my photos. Help please me transfer and save my pix and properly set up my external for access. Thanks a bunch!

I assume you are storing your photos in an iPhoto library, since you are asking in the iPhoto forum?
if you want to store your iPhoto library on an external drive and keep them safe, you need two external drives. One drive to store the working copy of the photo library, that you are using to work with your photos, and one drive for time machine to make back copies of your iPhoto library.

You could simply plug your new drive into the MacBook and copy the library from the old drive to the new. Then connect the new drive to your iMac and use the iPhoto library there.

If you renamed your iCloud ID and need to change it on your device, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account. To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

To transfer your current hard drive I like the free application SuperDuper. It makes a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html You'll need a cheap SATA external hard drive case. Put the new drive in the case then format and partition the new drive and clone your old drive to the new one. Check that it's set up right by booting up from the external drive. Then replace your old hard drive with the new one and put your old one in the external case.

Im trying to get bootcamp to work but it told me to backup, format and restore. Im currently copying my data to a disk image. Am i able to restore this or is it pointless?

You can do it your way, but the intended way is to use FileVault to encrypt your Home folder. When you log out of your account then TM will begin the backup of the encrypted Home folder. No need for you to encrypt or decrypt your own disc image.
If you allow TM to run hourly backups as you now do, then both your Home folder and your backups are not secure.

here is my problem. i had all of my tunes on an external hard drive. the hard drive has become corrupt and now the files are no longer accessible. also my PC hard drive has been reformatted. now i have replaced the external hard drive and have loaded i-tunes onto the reformatted PC. i want to add the songs from my i-pod to the new i-tunes but when i try to sync it will not allow me to do it as the i-pod has previously been synced to a different PC (which is no longer available). is there a way to get the songs from my I-pod to my new PC or will i need to import all the songs again from the CD's? I recently bought a 1GB movie directly to my iPhone and I want to back it up on my computer. I have "manage movies and songs manually" checked on the summary page, but when I try to drag the movie over it doesn't take. When I click the sync movies option I get a warning that I'm going to lose all my songs, which I don't want to do. Can someone tell me how to get this huge file off my phone so I can use that space for other files and purchases?

Can I use icloud as a storage for photos from my PC without pushing all of them to my iphone?

I thought the cloud could be a backup to my PC (files, pics, itunes...) that I could access from my iphone. If my pics are pushed to my phone, my memory will be more than maxed out. Same with itunes. I would like to switch the tunes on my phone sometimes.

No.
iCloud isn't like our old iDisk. It's more about connecting muliple devices to the same shared data.

Can I move a TV Show to an external drive without losing it?

I have a 60 GB video iPod and a MacBook with a 120 GB hard drive. I have 9 GB of TV show files that I'd like to keep but I don't need them on my hard drive because I doubt that I'd watch them again anytime soon (the packrat in me won't let me just delete files that I paid for at the iTunes store). Can I just copy the folder for that show to an external hard drive and delete it from my MacBook? and import it back into the library if I wanted to watch it at some time in the future?
