Site not displaying properly in IE

Hello,
I'm working on building a site from a template. Prior to today I only  opened the site in Firefox and it displays fine. However, in IE for some  reason every page besides the index.html do not display properly. The  weird thing is, the part that is messed up should be the same as the  index.html because they're from the same template.
Does anyone happen to know what I messed up?
Here is the site...

Which IE?  What does "do not display properly" mean?  It looks OK to me in IE8.

    You can set an explicit width and height instead of a percent but I presume you want the flash object to be the size of the browser window specifying 100%. You also have noscale specified so I presume you're detecting the flash stage size and are dynamically laying out your content based on available space. Is that correct?
    That said, you're using XHTML strict but you have some invalid code. In browsers like IE that can be enough to pop compatibility mode and it gets messy. For instance the "align" attribute is not supported so you should remove it.
    Using 100% of the space is tricky. You have a scrollbar that can be invoked if you use 100%. Try 99% so the browser doesn't fire off a scrollbar just incase.
    Your CSS probably isn't doing enough either. Use your web developer tools in your browser to take a look at your object. You're only clearing margins on the body tag. Try something more aggressive to remove ALL margins and padding like so:
    *,html,body,object,div { margins:0; padding:0; }
    Your object probably has some margins or padding pushing it off screen and you're only setting margins for the body tag itself. Also a small CSS note. Anytime you specify a value of 0 you don't need to specify px, like 0px. No matter your unit, em, px, etc, 0 is 0. That's why I didn't put 0px if you were wondering.
    Also I specified 'div' in the CSS above. It may solve some of your problems to put your <object> inside a <div>.
    e.g.:
    <div style="width:99%; height:99%;">
        <object ............>
        </object>
    </div>
    Keep the <object> at 100% width and height if you place it inside that <div>. The browser is very good at dealing with <div>s and should have no problem keeping your content inside it resizing properly.

  • CS3 Site not displaying properly

    I have a newly created site which displays and functions
    properly on my PC, where the page was created on CS3. On a test PC,
    the index page displays properly, but all other pages have no
    graphics and the format is incorrect. The links work ok. A previous
    page I created does work correctly and is currently online.
    Any thoughts on why all non-index pages cannot display images
    or correct format? Again, it functions ok on my pc, but once I move
    it off, it fails.
    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

  • Site not displaying properly on PC...

    Hi,
    I've built the following site on a mac in dreamweaver MX
    using CSS:
    http://www.imagemakers.uk.com/clunyhouse/index.html
    Looks fine when previewing in Safari and Firefox, but not in
    IE on PC. The main flower image is appearing way down the page, as
    if its too wide to fit properly.
    I'm quite a newbie with css so I've probably made an obvious
    mistake. My deadlines looming so any help greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks.

    I've just tested it in IE7 and it looks fine - so it's just
    IE6 I'm having the problem with. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
    You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
    *Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
    Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Ads are not displaying properly in Safari, v 4.0.5

    I am having an odd problem with display ads from our local newspaper not displaying properly on my Mac Pro in Safari. I suspect that the issue might be related to having had some AdBlock app on my system a few months ago. I removed the app and some ads display, but others are just a white block with nothing inside. Is there any way to figure out why the content doesn't load?
    The website is http://www.echopress.com
    The ads I'm having issues with are the 300x250 ads in the right 3rd column, located directly below the weather info and above the "marketplace" ads.
    Any ideas or troubleshooting tips?
    Thanks,
    Grady
    Oh, why do I wanna see em in the first place? I'm an advertiser on the site and would like to see my own ads load occasionally.

    Hey ho, Grady!
    I can see all the ads on the right,
    with the exception of the very top (first) box
    which has the header of "Weather Alerts).
    It's blank, and I'm assuming you have no alerts at the present.
    All the rest of the paid for ads show.
    So, what I would do is clear my Safari cache, history, and
    in Preferences>Security, clear all the cookies from that site.
    Hope this helps.
    If you need more info just holler.
    Let us know how you're doing, OK?

  • Page will not display properly with inline Frames

    I have a html page that will not display properly in Dreamweaver. I have a basic understanding of html and want to be able to edit a website in Dreamweaver that was given to me. It looks fine in a browser, but in Dreamweaver some of the content is missing and displays the following message, "Your browser does not support inline frames or is currently configured not to display inline Frames". I was able to open it without any problems using Microsoft Front Page, so is it possible to view and edit it in Dreamweaver?

    Without seeing your page, I'm guessing that your page contains server-side includes, iframes and  scripts to other files on the server that populate page with content on the server's end.  You can't see it in DW because you don't have all the files in your DW local site folder.  You said this views fine in FP.  Was your page created in FP with FP proprietary tools?

  • Web page not displaying properly - content in wrong place

    It's been years since I've done html and this is the first time using Dreamweaver.  All my pages have the same header then a horizontal row of link buttons.  I have used Divs to create 3 sections of content underneath this.  Each div has the following defined for it: #Div { position:absolute; width:913px; height:440px; z-index:1; left: 10px; top: 302px; My main page is not displaying properly.  There is a section on the left with text/photo.  To the right of this section, there is a second div containing an image map.  In Dreamweaver, I preview the page (using Chrome) and it looks fine.  However, when I upload it to the web site and then view that page in the web site, the second div is thrown to the upper top right of the page.  I do not know what is causing this and how to fix it.  Can anyone answer this and perhaps give me some tips?

    Start by fixing your HTML errors.  You have a significant number of them.
    http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fgivethegaveltotavel.com%2F
    Also, you have some CSS errors.
    W3C CSS Validator results for http://givethegaveltotavel.com/ (CSS level 2.1)
    Position:absolute is never a good way to layout your web pages.  For 98% of what you do, positioning is not required and should be avoided.  Learn to use CSS margins, padding and floats to align elements where desired.
    CSS margin property.
    CSS padding property

  • Why do pages like natwest and ELC not display properly? It is like their text is too large, yet other pages are fine?

    I have abrand new ASUS notebook with a 11 and a half inch screen. I have up to date Windows system, and am using the latest version of firefox. I have gone through all the tips in the help section of firefox including clearing cache and cookies, and also checking all settings for text, however none of this has corrected the problem. For example when i log into my online banking the text is that big it doesnt fit into the boxes set on natwest screen, so therefore i can view all of the text and it gets jumbled together in some places. With ELC a good example is the menu across the top of the page which gives all of the categories of products they sell for you to click on. As the writing is too large it does not display properly. Im not sure what else to do to crrect this. Can anyone help?

    Try 2 things, if they can help:
    1. on the same window, where you have 1 of above site opened. Do ctrl + F5.
    2. Do Ctrl + shift + P, it will open a new private window and browse any of the above site.

  • My.yahoo homepage is not displaying properly all of a sudden in windows 8

    I don't think there was a change to my system unless it was a windows 8 update recently but my homepage, my.yahoo.com which I have been using for years is not displaying properly in Firefox oth 17.0 or beta release.
    It works fine in chrome and IE on the same system.
    Is this a issue with yahoo or Firefox? Any ideas on how to fix?

    When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
    Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
    (You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
    orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
    On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove your yahoo.com cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    Best way to reach Apple is to send a Bug Report via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple. While Apple doesn't respond directly to these notes, the information gets in the hands of Software Engineers at Cupertino.
    Specific to the referenced site, there are multiple code errors, which would contribute to the rendering problem. Safari is a lot more specific about following correct code than other browsers. I suggest passing the Validation report on to the site developers. Good code practices (W3) makes for better uniformity and security on the Internet.

  • Lately pdf files from the Web do not display properly; what is wrong and how can I fix it so I don't have to use IE?

    I am a professor and frequently need to open pdfs of academic journal articles from electronic databases. Within the last two or three weeks, when I try to do this using Firefox, only the first page of the pdf displays and the rest are blank. In addition, a bar appears across the top with the message "This pdf file may not display properly." So I have had to switch to Internet Explorer to open the files and do my research. What is going on and how can I fix it so I can open pdf files from the Web in Firefox and have them display properly?

    My question is simple - why would you put an application in production that has a lot of bugs? To replace a good and steady Adobe product? My customers will believe that I put a pathetic fallible form online. They are not sophisticated on computers so I just tell them to use IE. Ugh
    I must agree with pgwebgirl!
