Site won't accept Netscape

I am trying to take an internet class. When I visit the site using Safari, I get an error message saying the site won't let me use Netscape, and to use a different browser. Apparently, Safari (latest version) is registering as a Netscape browser. How can I change this to another browser type?
Thanks,
Russ

Hi Russell,
themask's tip here should let you change the UserAgent string sent to the webserver:
themask, "Browser needed for online banking" #7, 07:49am Jul 16, 2005 CDT
One thing to note is that this setting is not permanent - once you close Safari/the specific tab Safari will revert to the default user agent setting.

  • How to reset "Add Printer" code on 6500a? The original one generated expired and site won't accept.

What are the exact steps to reset the "Add Printer" code\email for the OfficeJet 6500a?
I set up the wireless portion and was generated a code, however trying to register and enter it into the website, it will not accept stating that is has expired (being after the 24 hour time frame).
Thus, I attempted to find the options to "generate" a new one, and it doesn''t seem to exist.  I reset all wireless settings to default, and attempted to find the code -- and it remains the same.
What are the exact step by step clicks I need to press on the printer to get a new code that will be accepted by the ePrint website?
Thank you in advance for your insight.

    Hi mcseqt,
You can just reprint the instruction page and you will be able to add the printer code again within 24 hours.
To do so, go to Setup >> Web Services Setup >> ePrint Email Address
This will print out the eprint instruction page again.
    Thank you.

  • Foxfire is remembering a past password for a website, and the site won't accept when I enter the new password.

I enter data on a State Health website, which requires that I change my password on a regular basis. I tried to login with the new password, and called the website's help desk for help, when I was unsuccessful. They said it was because Firefox was remembering the old password each time I tried to log on, and that I should ask you to remove the "remembering password" component.

Thank you. I had to pull up an article on "How to Clear the Cache", and I think I got that and "Removed Cookies" from the site that I was having trouble with (although I didn't see any where to "okay" the new settings, so I just closed out). But I'm still not able to get on the site, so I have a call in to their support.

  • Apple won't accept my serial number

    Hi,
I just bought a new laptop pro. Tried to do an atomatic upgrade to Mountain Lion. Submitted my receipt as required which includes the correct serial number. Keep receiving automated emails telling me that the 'part number is missing'. Have checked the receipt against the serial number onthe machine. It is correct. Now I discover that the Apple web site won't accept my serial number either. I can't get a sensible, human response from Apple via eamil and can't organise a call back becuse you need to have a serial number to do this ... any suggestions??

  • New mac mini won't accept dvd's/cd's in the combo drive

    Hello friends:
i have a new mac mini that I bought about 2 months ago (Intel, 2.0 ghz). Everything was working fine until I went to put in a DVD today. The combo drive won't accept a disc. It's not that it won't read the disc, it physically won't suck it into the drive. Instead it just sits there. If I try and push it in, nothing happens... it just bounces back out at me as if pushed by a spring. And, no, there isn't already a disc in the drive.
Can anyone suggest how to get my combo drive to work again?

    Hi jrm27,
I have an older Mac Mini 1.66 GHz, but I haven't seen this problem.
I take it that the disc does go in a little way. I would think that that rules out that the drive thinks there's a CD already in the drive. I know that when I have a CD or DVD in the drive, the little doors (they're really there) are closed and won't let me insert a 2nd CD.
I presume that you have restarted your system since this started to occur?
When the system is rebooting, hold down the mouse button. This is supposed to force eject a CD. It might also trick your system into thinking there's no CD there, or resetting something.
Try different types of CDs or DVDs, just to make sure that there's not something screwy with the media that you are using. Try an old-fashioned music CD or something.
Are there any sounds the drive makes?

  • My e-mail address was "hacked into" and a bogus email sent in my name---now I can't access my email because it won't accept my password.

The email was sent at approx. 6:45 a.m. Tuesday to everyone in my address book. It stated that I was in Wales and had been mugged---all my cash, credit cards, and cell phone taken. My flight was supposed to leave in 6 hours, but the hotel wouldn't let me leave until I paid my bill. The email didn't give any contact information---so I'm assuming it was a "Trojan horse" to give a virus to everyone on my address list.
Now, I can't open my email because it won't accept my usual password. Attempts to change my password have been unsuccessful. It says that I have not been properly identified to change my password.

You will need to contact the customer services for the email service that was hacked and try to convince them that your account has been hacked.
There are a number of ways that they get access to the password. One of the most common is by phishing, you are presented with a bogus site that looks like the login page for the email service/site and you enter your login details. This is frequently done by sending an email to you saying that you need to log into the site or need to confirm your details.
To makes sure that your computer is not infected with malware, try running several malware scanners. It is best to run several as each will pick up things that the others miss. Some scanners you can try are:

  • Just bought CC, LR5 won't accept new CC serial number

I just purchased CC and downloaded LR5 but it won't accept my new CC serial number, and will only let me continue with the trial version of the software. Help?
I am also encountering a Download Error warning under the Apps tab on Creative Cloud desktop. Hitting the "reload applications" button just re-loads the error message.
    I am on a Mac 10.8.3.
    Thank you!

Thanks Dave, that had been my understanding too, but then in trying to resolve the Download Error problem I had come across something that suggested I might need a serial number. I'll ignore that and focus on the Download Error! I guess I'd better post that in a new thread though unless you have any ideas about that? I tried downloading and installing LR5 from the Adobe site itself instead of through CC desktop but that didn't help: the first time I tried to open LR5 it said it had to be opened by AAM, which then produced the Download Error message again. The second time I attempted to open the software (and every attempt since) it asks me for a serial number. A computer restart hasn't helped.

  • Asking for password for keychain access, but won't accept my password... What's up with this?

Restarted my MacBook just now and it's got a continuous stream of pop ups asking for password for keychain access, won't accept my password, won't go away (cancel), any suggestions.

    Hello Al323,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Keychain Access on your Mac.  I found a couple of articles I suggest for the issue you described.
Your keychain uses your the same password as your login password.  If it is not accepting that password, I recommend running the Keychain First Aid using the steps in this article:
Mac OS X 10.6: Solving problems with keychains
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH7296
If you are still repeatedly seeing a prompt to enter your Keychain Access password, you may need to reset your keychain.  This will create a new keychain so any saved passwords on the old keychain will not be available, and you will need to enter them when accessing sites for the first time again.  Follow the steps in the article below to create a new keychain:
OS X: Keychain Access asks for keychain "login" after changing login password

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Won't accept my serial number

I have just bought Fireworks CS3 upgrade – and
downloaded it. But when I try to install it, it won't accept my
Fireworks 8 serial number. Why can that be?

Was your version of Fireworks 8 a standalone version or part
    of a bundle?
I had the same issue in that I bought the Mac version of
    Fireworks CS3
upgrade thinking it'd upgrade my version of Fireworks MX 2004
    which was part
of a MX 2004 Studio Bundle. Wrong. The serial number didn't
    work.
I got in touch with Adobe support who asked me if I'd read
    the eligible
versions upgrade info on the web site. Of course I had and it
    says nothing
whatsoever about not being able to upgrade a version of
    Fireworks in a
bundled suite. They admitted this was badly written and
    should have a line
or two explaining bundled versions cannot be upgraded.
To cut to the chase I wasn't eligible for an upgrade and I
    had to return the
box back to Adobe which I will get refunded for.
    Unfortunately I had to
purchase the full version of Fireworks CS3 which now, at
    almost £300, after
postage, doesn't look like too good a deal anymore.
In short, you're not eligible for the upgrade if your version
    of Fireworks
was part of a previous bundle from Macromedia. However if you
    have got a
standalone version which goes back three versions including
    Fireworks 8 you
should be OK. If you're having problems 'jhjdk' I suggest you
    get on to
Adobe Tech and sound them out.
    Hope this helps
    Gaz

  • Firefox won't load https pages; gives security warning and won't accept an exception.

I've been having issues with Firefox and certain sites for about a year, and it's localized to my personal laptop. I have no issues when using my desktop at work or my dad's laptop at his house. Certain sites will simply return a text-style page; no html. Other sites give me a security certificate warning and FF won't accept an exception for that site, either by clicking on the button or manually entering the site as an exception. Tonight, GOOGLE won't even load! Why it's trying to load on an https server, I don't know, however. Several other sites have also started not loading and are also trying to load to a secure server.

Also make sure that you have updated to the latest Firefox 33.1.1 release.

  • New MBP... won't accept CD-RW (high speed 24x)

Can anyone advise why my new MBP won't accept Memorex high speed CD-RWs... (24x) in fact, it's not the high speed issue bcuz I've tried a regular 4x CD-RW and it won't accept it either...
The error message is simply, your drive can not red this disk - then offers options to ignore or eject...
Any help is appreciated... Thanks in advance

Have you tried using other brands of CD-RW media besides Memorex? That would be a good first step to take if you haven't already done so.
Does the disc drive make any funny noises after you insert the disc or does it sound normal? If the drive sounds normal and reads every other type of media correctly, you may want to repair disk permissions and reboot, via the Disk Utility application. If that has no effect, reboot the computer and reset the SMC if you have to....its an easy process, as shown in this link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319
In addition, make sure that you have the latest version of the SMC and EFI firmware, directly available from the downloads page here on Apple's support site.
If nothing else works, you could try backing up your files and reinstalling OS X, but I would get on the phone with Apple Support first. Since your computer is new, it shouldn't cost you anything. 90 days of complimentary telephone support come with every new Macintosh.
    Good Luck.

  • Toshiba.co.nz Support page won't accept my serial number

    Hi Forumites,
The Toshiba Support Centre at toshiba.co.nz > Support won't accept my serial number of my Satellite P840T as valid. And if I try and get to the downloads for my laptop, by entering a category of "Computers", the site just says "Loading Families..." on the next line down, and stalls forever.. something broken here.
I also noticed that unless I have my browser security settings turned to the lowest possible settings, the Toshiba site (which obviously uses Cookies) won't remember me long enough for me to get from the login page to the "Post new Listing" link on the Forum home page. It asks me to log in again.
I've tried two browsers, IE and Chrome, with the same results. I think the forum site is poorly designed if it won't work with default browser settings.
Even with browser security settings turned to the lowest possible settings, the site still forgot who I was when I went from the Satellite P series forum to this one.
Just some feedback on my experience with the forum so far.
    Mark

In the past I searched drivers using part number on second option and it worked perfectly. Maybe is there some problem with the page. Try few hours later. Who knows why this happen.

  • Application install damaged. Reinstall won't accept serial number. How can I reinstall?

I purchased Acrobat Pro 6 for Mac in 2004 and over the years, upgraded to 11.0, which I've used successfully until this morning. When I tried to open the app, I got a message saying it was damaged and needs to be reinstalled. I have not changed computers or OS since last week when it was working fine.
To correct the problem, I downloaded the program from the Adobe web site, but it won't accept my serial number to complete installation.

The options depend on your type of query, something which seems designed to frustrate. Adobe support do not answer "how to" (though they should help with troubleshooting, sure). Adobe must know that most people just click wildly rather than spending hours agonising over exactly the right description, and even if they did, the categories are poor.
Go for a more accurate description: Downloading installing, setting up; serial numbers and redemption codes ; still need help

  • Labelflash-Ulead-Won't accept any images

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba A305-S6872. The system came with ULEAD Movie Factory 5. I am playing around with the labelflash and trying to make a label on ULEAD. I used the drop down to choose the D: Matish DVD Drive. Then when I try to add an image, it won't accept any image. If I put it on color it just does nothing.  But when I click texture and browse to find the image it tells me the image is the wrong format or corrupted. I ahve tried every available image on different media's. I have used pictures from my camera disk, the web, my files, etc. It won't accept anything. I have read the ULEAD manual and can't find any reference to the format. I am trying to make the label without a disk in because I just wanted to get familiar with the software. I haven't found the disk yet. Could that make a difference?
Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
    Thanks, Lynn

I had the same problem while trying to make a label for my disks.  It did not matter if I was using a printer or using labelflash, the ULEAD DVD program would not load images.  I searched hours on the support sites for my computer and the software. Finally I found that a service pak fix may be needed for some programs that might be entirely compatible with Vista.
    Try:
    http://www.ulead.com/spotlight/vista/runme_2.htm
Go to this site and download the appropriate service pak for your version of ULEAD DVD moviemaker.  I have a 5.3 version so I downloaded the 5 plus.  Now my pictures and images are accepted by the ULEAD program.  The entering choices of the program are different so you choose one, such as Audio/Data.  Then in the verbstrip Files you can choose label@once to make your disk label.
Hopes this works for you!  I'm not a computer geek.  Just your average person with a computer!
