Sky Go image quality and buffering

Anyone else use Sky Go on the 360 or IPads and have any problems on Infinity 2. I have just started using the service on a wired 360 and last night the quality was all over the place and it also had the occasional buffer. My connection is always around 73Mbps down and 16Mbps up when running speed tests and downloads so what is the issue?

I did have a lot of buffering issues a while back, but it has resolved itself over time.
I would advise contacting the moderators, they normally reply within 3 days but can be longer depending how busy they are.

  • Firefox mage quality and resolution was superb when I used XP and Vista. Now that I have Windows 7, however (with the Firefox 3.6.3 version), the image quality and resolution is poor. Please help me!

    I am using the Firefox 3.6.3 version with my new Windows 7 operating system. When I used all the previous Firefox versions in my XP and Vista operating systems, image quality and resolution was excellent! However, now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.3, the image quality and resolution is poor (unacceptable for downloading purposes).
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I first activated my new computer and installed the Firefox 3.6.3.

    All my images are pixelated in firefox 3.6.3
    http://www.dcgdcreative.com
    Not only on my site but on most sites I view.
    The issue is not solved by resetting the zoom text view (ctrl+0)
    The issue is not resolved by starting in safemode with add-ons disabled
    The problem seems to only affect .jpeg files and only on Windows 7 on my desktop; as I have viewed several sites using windows XP with my laptop, no issues.
    I had the same issue with IE8 and was able to fix the problem with by setting up the compatibility view for all sites. Issue fixed no problems at all. But nothing similar for firefox?
    Whats the deal?

  • Loss of Image quality and shimmering in Imove

    Hi. This is a posting very similar to another forum user but I have the same problem!. I am downloading images from a Pentax K10D onto the Book pro and they are fine, as soon as you load them into iMovie they are terrible, poor image quality, edges of what ever is inside the photo move with a shimmering affect. I have been to the macintosh shop where I live and they don't know!. I have put this on Mac help pages in the USA and Spain still now help or comments, surely someone must have an idea as to why this is going on or is it through bad design of software!!??. regards to all. Kevin

    Hi Matti. Thanks for your work and help you are giving to me and others. I have printed off your info and will try and get my poor old brain round it!. So many people are having the same problem with iMovie it's amazing that the mac software dept has no don anything to rectify this bug and or problem. I have downloaded the software you state "Photo to Movie" but it does not seem to have the same things as iMovie with all the fancy transitions of images and music in the background, I have tried 4 images in this software and thay come up on full screen as 100% perfect, I still have to work out how to get them onto DVD with some kind of presentation. I want to start in the field of wedding photography and need some high end presentation software for digital wedding albums or Imaging with transitin affects, what would you recomend?. • Reduce image quality (and file size)

    Is there a simple way to reduce the quality of all backgroung
    images ? (there are all bitmap images, about 3 MB each of them)
    I imagine that by reducing the image quality, the file size
    will be less huge...
    But I wasn't able to find a way to do that...
    (the option about JPEG quality in project/preferences has no
    effect, because all background images are bitmap... )
    Any idea is welcome !
    Valérie

    Hi Valerie
    I have been doing some research on this -- the issue of file
    size (relating to both .cp and .swf) crops up a lot on this forum,
    so I wanted to find out which were the critical factors relating to
    images.
    My findings show that there are two critical factors:
    -- Slide Properties: Quality (High, Standard, JPEG,
    Optimized)
    -- Format of original image file (used for slide background
    or inserted image object)
    To summarize the results of my testing:
    Slide Quality
    Changing the slide quality from High
    to Standard or JPEG makes little or no difference to the size of
    the .cp file but can *significantly* reduce the size of the
    .swf
    This is an especially useful way of
    dealing with the very large .swf file sizes caused by importing PPT
    slides
    A .swf consisting entirely of
    imported PPT slides with complex backgrounds may be reduced to less
    than 10% of its original size by changing the quality setting for
    each of the slides to JPEG and using a JPEG image quality setting
    of 75%.
    Format of original image file
    For complex images such as photos,
    the best image file format to use is (oddly) .bmp -- although it
    results in a larger .cp file than other file formats (such as .jpg
    or .png), it generates the smallest .swf output.
    The benefit of using the .bmp format
    is less marked if you have set slide quality to Standard instead of
    High, but it can still cut the file size of the .swf output by up
    to 50%
    For slides using a quality setting of
    JPEG, there appears to be no difference in resulting .swf file size
    between .bmp or any other image file format
    A final comment: it is interesting to compare the size of the
    .cp and resulting .swf for different Captivate projects. There is
    typically an assumption that the .swf file will be smaller due to
    compression. However, this is not always the case. For example, I
    tested one project that used High slide quality and images that had
    been inserted from .jpg files -- the generated .swf file was over 4
    times larger than the .cp file. However, when I changed the quality
    setting for all slides to JPEG, the .swf file reduced to less than
    50% of the size of the .cp file.
    I hope this information is helpful -- please contact me if
    you'd like to see the detailed test data.

  • Image quality and report size

    Hello,
    I have a problem in the export to PDF document. I use CR 10.2 with Visual Studio 2005 in a web application.
    My problem is that I have a report of photographies, in wich I need an aceptable image quality. I don´t show the report in an report viewer, I create the report document and export it to PDF sending the memorystram in the http reponse.
    Firstly I see that the PDF document image quality was so bad. Then I checked the report property "Retain original color depth", and the image quality was good, but the PDF size was too big, two photographies of about 2MB(each one) generates a PDF file of about 20MB size.
    I need to send the pdf files to the clients via email, but the files are so big, and if the cllient inserts 10 photographies, the report size would be of about 100MB. Is there any wallkaround to this issue?. Is there this issue fixed in crystal reports XI?
    Best regards

    See [this|Crystal to PDF; thread. As unsatisfactory as the answer may be, it is what it is...
    I believe R&D is looking at this issue, but as an enhancement for a future release of CR.

    I thought of that too so I tested on another machine with retina display and the file i saved on my machine looked bad on my machine and on the other comparable machine/display. So I sent them the original vector ai file and watched while they saved it the exact same way on their machine and the file looked fine on both of our machines/displays.
    All of the settings they used appeared the same as what I used but with different results. I don't recall changing anything but does anyone know if there is some setting that could have been changed that is causing this issue?

  • InDesign Transparency Effects - Problems with Image Quality and File Size

    Hello,
    We are experiencing new problems exporting InDesign files to PDF.
    To summarize, though our largest workflow is to create files for offset printing, we also deliver our work to PDF for mounting on a website so our clients can download directly from the web. Our new problem is Transparency Effects, and creating a PDF that will both have a high quality (or resolution), and be a small file size.
    We are working with multiple page documents (24 to 48 pages), and would very much like to work with InDesign Transparency Effects. However, after spending much time testing a variety of PDF types, we are finding there is a radical difference between quality and file size. I was curious if anyone has had these problems, and if there is a simple answer. InDesign is an incredible program that allows us to design on the fly with Transparency Effects, but, if we are going to experience these problems, we will have to eliminate these wonderful tools.
    Can you help me or lead me to information online that will help.
    Thank you,
    Lain

    Please don't post in multiple forums. Your question has nothing to do with the PDF language and specifications, but rather PDF workflow or InDesign. I've responded to your other posting and am closing this thread.

  • Batch Replace Smart Object With Different Image Quality and Sizes

    Hi there,
    I need help. I have this template that is in 1000x1000pixel and 300 dpi. I'm trying to replace the smart object inside with various JPEG that I have. These JPEG comes in large image sizes but lower than 300dpi. The issues is, when I run the script that I have, some of the pictures become really pixelated. Beforehand, I resized them to fit into the empty place in sizes that I find fit the best (8 cm x 6 cm). Some of them work okey, but then some of them just pretty bad. I'm wondering if you can help me fix the script that I have so I didn't have to resized the images before running the script, and for all of them to automatically fit into my template without altering the quality of the image that I put in.
    below is the script that I am using and the screenshot of my template:
    #target photoshop
    if (app.documents.length > 0) {
    var myDocument = app.activeDocument;
    var theName= myDocument.name.match(/(.*)\.[^\.]+$/)[1];
    var thePath = myDocument.path;
    var theLayer = myDocument.activeLayer;
    // psd options;
    psdOpts = new PhotoshopSaveOptions();
    psdOpts.embedColorProfile = true;
    psdOpts.alphaChannels = true;
    psdOpts.layers = true;
    psdOpts.spotColors = true;
    // check if layer is smart object;
    if (theLayer.kind != "LayerKind.SMARTOBJECT") {alert ("selected layer is not a smart object")}
    else {
    // select files;
    if ($.os.search(/windows/i) != -1) {var theFiles = File.openDialog ("please select files", "*.psd;*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.tif", true)}
    else {var theFiles = File.openDialog ("please select files", getFiles, true)};
    if (theFiles) {
    // work through the array;
    for (var m = 0; m < theFiles.length; m++) {
    // replace smart object;
    theLayer = replaceContents (theFiles[m], theLayer);
    var theNewName = theFiles[m].name.match(/(.*)\.[^\.]+$/)[1];

    executeAction( idsetd, desc7, DialogModes.ALL );
    } catch (e) {};
    //save jpg;
    myDocument.saveAs((new File(thePath+"/"+theName+"_"+theNewName+".jpg")),psdOpts,true);
    ////// get psds, tifs and jpgs from files //////
    function getFiles (theFile) {
    if (theFile.name.match(/\.(psd|tif|jpeg|jpg)$/i) != null || theFile.constructor.name == "Folder") {
    return true
    ////// replace contents //////
    function replaceContents (newFile, theSO) {
    app.activeDocument.activeLayer = theSO;
    // =======================================================
    var idplacedLayerReplaceContents = stringIDToTypeID( "placedLayerReplaceContents" );

    var idPgNm = charIDToTypeID( "PgNm" );
    desc3.putInteger( idPgNm, 1 );
    executeAction( idplacedLayerReplaceContents, desc3, DialogModes.NO );
    return app.activeDocument.activeLayer

    Thank you for your answer.
    I was resizing it before from bigger image size to a smaller one (121 cm to 8 cm) which fit my template size. But the dpi remains in 72 which makes the picture pixelized.
    I am wondering if I can find a script that will keep the size of the first image that I put on the template for other images that I place, regardless the size they are imported to. Basically, how to make them all fit into the template regardless the size.
    Thank you for the info about the scripting forum. I will write there too.
    Sorry, I'm so new to this

  • Aperture 1.5.3 and iWeb - poor image quality and shuffled Media browser

    Hi, I have two questions:
    1. I used to use iPhoto 6 together with iWeb 1.1.2, but have since upgraded to Aperture. My Aperture library previews show up nicely in iWeb's media browser, but the quality of the thumbs on the photopage I create, and fullsize images in iWeb's slideshow look really bad and pixelated compared to when I used the exact same images from my iPhoto 6 Library. How can this be? I have set the preview size in Aperture to 1280 x 1280 and quality to 5. Does that have something to do with the poor quality?
    2. The Media browser in iWeb completely ignores the dates on the images from the Aperture library, resulting in the images being shuffled completely, making it hard to find the images I want to use. How can that be? Why doesn't it work like when I used iWeb with my iPhoto library?

  • Airplay Video quality and buffering

    I'm new to apple TV and am trying to watch my home movies (holidays etc) over airpay. However, I've found that if I try to watch in Full HD there's a considerable amount of buffering (2-3 mins) before the movie will start to play, and if I skip if buffers again. Basically is seems any file over 1.2GB struggles. I can convert the video using a lower bitrate etc which reduces the file size, but then obviously you lose quality.
    Is there a way of playing Full HD video of large file sizes without buffering, or a way of compressing the video files without losing picture quality? I've tried MP4 and .MOV but the file sizes are very large.
    TIA

    Thanks for the help, but this did not solve my problem. I have found a workaround though which is satisfactory.
    What I've found that ideally the bitrate needs to be around 15, 20 and above it struggles regardless of file size. I tried converting with wondershare with a lower bitrate (eg original bitrate 23, converted 15) but the quality was noticeably worse. I tried passthrough using quicktime pro 7, but as you'd expect the bitrate didn't alter.
    What I found by trial and error was to open the original .mov file using quicktime player 10 (10.2), go to file > Export and in the format dropdown select 1080p. The exported movie has a lower bitrate with no/VERY VERY little loss in video quality. These then play over airplay with no lag/buffering

  • Image quality and settings for professional portfolio created on indesign

    I'm putting a portfolio together of project work I have done throughout my degree for applying for jobs. I am very familiar with p/s and illustrator but indesign is slightly new to me.
    What is the best ppi setting to use for my images? They will probably be viewed on a monitor but also be printed by me to put into a physical portfolio.
    When exporting as a pdf what are the best settings?

  • Image Quality and Bones.

    Currently I'm working on a character for a platform game i'm creating.  I've made the first arm and colored and everything.  The Image looks very smooth.  When I put a bone into the arm it becomes distored and not smooth anymore, even before I move the arm.  Is their a better way I could be doing this?  All colors and sections of the arm are in seperate layers but in 1 folder.  Thanks.

    (I have a attached file to give you a better picture.  Thanks for ur help.)

    Giving my post a bump.  Would really like some help.  Its very frustrated and don't want to keep coloring if this is going to keep happening.  Thanks again for your time and help.

  • Loss of image quality and logo question

    1.  Finally able to publish my presentation to PDF, but even though HD video, there was significant graphic loss.  Any thing that I did incorrectly?  Is there a way to correct this or publish in another format ( internal company site) to improve this?
    2.  Is there a way to have the presentation start off with no Adobe Presenter displaying while waiting for the presentation to start or have my company logo display while starting?

    Hi
    About the video that you have inserted on the slide, I recommend not stretching the video on the slide
    Letting the size of the video being the original as imported, will give you better quality video.
    As for the logo, you can remove the logo and add your logo by doing the following
    1. Create a new file named logo.swf of dimension 47 x 27 pixels that contains your branding.
    2. Go to the templates folder under the Presenter 8 installation folder
    3. Add your custom logo.swf file to the Templates folder.
    4. In PowerPoint, publish the presentation to your computer.
    5. View the output to see the new logo.
    6. this logo will appear every time you publish any presentation
    If you want to replace the logo in already published presentation
    1. Create a new file named logo.swf of dimension 47 x 27 pixels that contains your branding.
    2. Go to the publiahed folder >> data >> resources and paste the logo here
    3. Go to the data folder and open vconfig.xml
    4. Search for <uireplace name="logo" value=""/>
    5. make value equal to "resources/logo.swf" and save vconfig.xml
    6. Launch viewer.swf
    The above mentioned steps replaces the adobe logo in the player.
    If you want to replace the Adobe presenter logo in the loading screen
    1. Open the published output folder
    2. Open the vconfig.xml file in the data folder in Notepad. Search for <language id=”en”> section, and then look for <uitext name="ADOBE_PRESENTER" value="Insert Your Custom Text"/>
    3. Replace the "Insert your custom text"  with your company name
    4. Save and close the vconfig.xml file.
    5. Launch the published output
    Hope this helps
    Thanks
    Mahesh
