  • Why did skype start crashing mid-call?

I use Skype for hours everyday and have been for about a year.  everything has worked perfectly until recently when it has just started crashing during the middle of my calls.  It seems to be completely random, ill have a call open and then skype will freeze and close, and a message will pop up saying skype has crashed.  This has only started happening within the past month. I've had no problems for an entire year.

    Post in Skype forums.

  • Skype 7.3 Crashing When Calling People

Every single time i load up skype and try to call someone, it comes up as not responding and i have to close the program. I am able to move around my contacts, but when i click call or recieve a call, it instantly crashes. I have never experienced this problem before. I have re-installed skype and tried it, same problem, the same with turning off my anti-virus software.

    Can anybody help me?
    Thank you

Try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
    Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

  • Skype suddenly started crashing - Mac OS X 10.7.5

Skype suddenly started crashing immediately upon launch, I don't even get to see the login screen. I've never had any issues with Skype before and honestly it doesnt make much sense cos I havent even installed anything new latety, all I do is the software updates but haven't had to do any for the last while either.
I've deleted Skype completly and reinstalled but won't work. I've also repaired permissions thinking that would help but didn't either.
    Computer specs as follows...
    MacBook Pro
    15-inch, Mid 2009
2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
I have the crash report but can't see how to attach it, sorry!
Help please as I use it on a daily basis, completly lost without it

    Hi
Before anything, you can already check if you have installed a third party that does not play well with Skype:
    Skype crashing/not starting? Check here
If you have none of these installed, could you please give us some log files? You can check how to do that here:
How to report a crash/hang or any other issue
    Thanks!

If someone could help me fix this, that would be awesome ^^
    Thank you.

The error message shown for the 7.5.85.101 version indicates that you were a victim of the well known "http-hack".

The issue was fixed with yesterday's Skype update.

What is the error message saying now when you are on the 7.5.85.102 version?

  • 7.3 crashing on call.

Skype has been crashing when I try to join or create a call. The in-application display will be blank (black) then will crash with a not-responding message after 5-20 seconds. I've tried uninstall/reinstall and checking my display drivers.

  • They switched me to Skype Premuim, can't make call...

    OK, here goes.
I've had a Skype Unlimited World subscription for several years, a recurring $9.99/monthly payment. About a week ago I tried to make a call on my mobile and got the message saying 'Skype Premuim doesn't allow calls to phones, that I would need to buy Skype credit', etc....
Hmmm...what the heck is going on?
i checked my emails to see if a late May 'Your purchase has been delivered' mail had come in, and no, it hadn't. Hmmm...more wondering about what's going on. I did not receive any messages informing me of changes to my subscription, changes to Skype or changes to Skype Premium. i went to my account page at Skype to see that Skype Premium was active, but that $0.00 had been charged in late May. Hmmm....what's up with that?
I did read the 'Skype Premium' is changing, group video calls are free', whatever, but it still was not clear about being able make calls to phones, and that's all I've ever needed of Skype for the past couple years. i want to continue having what I had. And I have no interest in group videos call anyway.
What to do? There is no one to call and talk with, but I did have a 'chat session' with a support rep (automated?) who was not able to quite understand my concerns. it ended with the chat rep telling me I'd have Skype Premuim for free until next January. I did tell the chat rep that I just wanted to be able to make calls, that group video was of no interest to me, and she (chat rep had a female name) told me everything was fine, that i would be able to make calls as I had been doing for a few years now.
OK, I'm back on, right? At least that's what my thinking was. So yesterday i tried to make calls, and much to my dismay, there was the same message...'Skype Premuim doesn't allow calls to phones, you will need to buy Skype credit'....AARGH.
So that's it? You can not make calls to phones with Skype Premuim? Or you can, but Skype is having issued sorting it out? Would someone here be able to clarify?
I don't see any use for me of a Skype Premium account if I can't make calls to phones.
I see the world subscription is now $13.99 a month. I would have just preferred they tell me the subscription price was increasing, instead of having to go through this whole mess to find out things have changed. Certainly they should send messages to inform customers that changes have been made instead of having to dig around and find out on their own.

  • Word crashes mid PDF creation - Word 2003 Acrobat 9.3.0

I have a new PC and a fresh clean install of CS5 Design Permuim, including Arobat 9. The organisation is still using Office 2003 and no upgrade path in sight for that. Myself and several colleagues with the same software profile are now experiencing frequent problems with Word crashing mid PDF creation.
This has always been an issue with the ocassional Word file in Acrobat 8, but Distiller always worked as an alternative - NOT this time!
PDF Maker gives no error message, just that Word has encounted a problem and needs to close.
Distiller produces the following log message, then freezes completely. I then have to force quit Word to exit!
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: --nostringval-- ]%%
    Stack:
    /mF_OTF_V
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Not all documents are affected, but I can remove almost all of the content from the affected document and it still causes the error.
I have tried repairing Acrobat - no change.
One other odd symptom - after each crash, the default printer on the machine has changed to Adobe PDF.
I can successfulkly make the PDF on another machine which has not been upgraded to Acrobat 9. The rest of the settings are identical on the two machines, they are both running a standard organisation environment, with the same verion of word etc.
Can anyone suggest how to fix or at least isolate the cause of the problem?

Please update to latest Acrobat 9 release which is 9.4.2.
    Also do let us know
    a) office 2003 flavour: Standard or professional?
    b) OS flavour? Also whether it is 32bit or 64bit?
Also as you mentioned that "Not all documents are affected", so we would require any of your affected file to analyze the issue. Can you please share the file? You can use acrobat.com to share the file.
    Thanks,
    Vishal

  • Skype 7.3 crashing around same time every night

Skype has been crashing every night, right before I go to bed Skype.exe ends up consuming almost 2GB of memory for some reason, at around the same time every night, and there are constant errors that Skype is out of memory, and it eventually stops responding completely until I end the process.
Running Windows 7 64bit with the latest updates installed, and Skype 7.3 latest build. Screenshot attached.

It really can't be any other software or hardware changes, as no changes have been made at all since the Skype update which caused this issue to start occuring.
As this particular system and user account are locked down and used almost exclusively just for Skype by an elderly retired person who runs no other applications, and has made no other changes to the system within that time that Skype has been updated and this issue has started occuring.
The Skype window remains open after they launch it in the morning, without minimizing it or using any other applications which could potentially interfere.
Considering the user is an elderly person with limited computer knowledge, when this issue occurs they are unable to recover the system themselves from its non responsive state, requiring intervention by us fix it on a nightly basis which is less than ideal for us, and them.
