Skype crashes upon login 7.2
Hello. I've been having this problem for days and it's been driving me nuts! I've been using Skype for years and have only encountered this problem now. Please help me fix it.
I am using Windows 7, and Skype 7.2. I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing Skype. Also rebooted my laptop many times. I have also tried deleting the shared.xml file, but to no avail.
Thank you.

Skype crashes upon login and I get a "Skype has stopped working." message. It started after my Win7 computer got a BSOD while skyping someone. First time I uninstalled Skype and reinstalled which got it working. The second time trying to open it though the error came back and uninstalling/reinstalling is not working. I have uninstalled, deleted the Skype appdata folder, removed all of the Skype registry keys, restarted, then reinstalled only to get the same error. Below is the error message I keep getting in the Event Viewer. Have spent several hours researching this and trying to fix it with no success. Now, if I uninstall alsa-lib, look at the output:
[vot@Arch ~]$ skype
Yes, it works!
Any ideas? I tried setting myself to busy and disabling sound notifications, but it didn't work.

Errors in these entries may cause poor network performance and/or certain programs to open very slowly, or not work at all.
Edit: If it still doesn't work, I'm bailing out on this one. Sorry. Skype was bought by Microsoft and I stopped using it.
Maybe check out the Skype wiki page?

EDIT:
Was able to fix by uninstalling, deleting roaming appdata, and restarting my computer. After that re-installing worked fine.Even I am having the same problem with the new update-October 10,2014; version 6.21, pardon me if i am wrong. Calls wont connect and skype crashes after a minute or two. Tried replacing it with an earlier version, 6.18, but same problem persits. In order to get skype to work again, I have to resart my laptop each time. I use windows 7.
I was able to chat via skype earlier and I am not a new user. Can anyone please help me? -
My skype keep crashing upon login but its only on ...

dxdiag.zip 11 KBTry to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder. -
Upon opening the application it instantly crashes. I have tried deleting it and redownloading it and it still doesnt work. I am running the latest version of skype and OSX 10.9.4. If anyone has any ideas on how it can be corrected it would be much appreciated.

The latest versions of Skype do not work well with virtual camera software. Currently you have 3 installed (Manycam, IP Camera, XSliptBroadcaster. Removing them should resolve the crashing issue. One or all of them could be causing the problem. The order of most likely:
1. IP Camera
2. XSplitBroadcaster
3. Manycam (if it's an older version).
Alright, I've removed both XSplit and Manycam but not IP Camera as I don't know how to find that and remove it. It's not anywhere in my add/remove programs or my start menu.
EDIT: I managed to find it and ran the unregister file and Skype opened right up. Thank you SO much for helping me with this problem. -
The finder crashes when I login to my old account. Briefly my problems started with iPhoto crashes and eventually to finder crashes. The finder would crash when I would try to transfer picture files from one directory to another. I'd deleted com.apple.iPhoto.plist as well as com.apple.finder.plist but these did not help. The crash is characterized by there being no menu items on the top left, but with dock icons which cannot however be clicked, and I can only resort to a hard reset to get back to the login window. I created a new admin account -- this one works -- but cannot decide whether I should just transfer files from the old account to the new account (as described somewhere in the archived support) or whether I should "go back" in time to when the system was working well (about December 2012 was the last "good" Time Machine backup -- I did a backup in February, but that was when I was already having problems). I am afraid that if I transfer certain files (especially the picture files and iphoto files) to the new account, I might cause the same problem on the new account. Any suggestion as to how to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Transfer files off the machine to a external storage drive and disconnect, that way you can do anything you like.
TimeMachine may fail to restore if your drive is corrupted and can't be easily verified if your data is truly on it or will restore.

Skype crashes upon opening after latest Windows up...
I'm running Windows 7 and some automatic updates got installed when I shut down on Friday. This morning I started up my computer for the first time since and Skype opened on startup and sat there are normal. When I went to use it though it crashed and now it crashes almost as soon as I open it again.
Here's the error message from event viewer:
Faulting application name: Skype.exe, version: 7.4.0.102, time stamp: 0x55310e09
Faulting module name: Flash9.ocx, version: 9.0.16.0, time stamp: 0x449aefc4
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Anyone got any ideas? Do I need to downgrade to an older version?
Thanks

DxDiag.zip 8 KBHi jokerpant, can you please reproduce the issue wit Skype 7.0 and provide logs (.log) as described in this link https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12321/how-do-i-create-log-files under Skype for Windows Desktop and attach it to your post?
Log would greately help us in resolving the issue faster. After you generate the log, you can then install 6.21 again.
Thank you in advance -
Skype crashes upon loading a conversation
For some reason, Skype is crashing everytime I open a conversation(clicking on a friend or a group convo). It wasn't like this before. It started the day before yesterday(for some reason it was working fine yesterday), and it started doing this again. What do I do?
Try first to update your Intel HD Graphics Family graphic card driver:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/xps-12-9q33/drivers
The currently installed version (9.18.10.3145) is Windows 8 compatible. The latest available version for Windows 8.1 is 10.18.10.3574.
Look also for all other available driver updates. -

I have Windows 7 with service pack 1. I have the most recent version of IE. This is my first time installing skype on this computer. I have no video capture devices and there are no problems listed in my dxdiag. I can connect with my phone but I need my computer to work for a call that is coming soon. If someone can correspond with me quickly and get this resolved, I would be most grateful. Skype crashes upon call and when i try to change m...
Recently (Or not, it's been like a month) I've been having issues with Skype 7.0 or any versions more recent than that. Every time I host or join a call and every time I try to change my profile picture my Skype goes "Not responding" and seconds later my PC freezes. But legit FREEZES: I can't go to start menu, I can't open windows taskmanager, I can't alt + tab, nothing. I have to hard restart my pc.
I've tried downgrading to 6.14 and that works perfectly. Until I turn off my pc and start it up again because for some weird reason, whenever I start my PC and Skype opens up it's back to 7.0 or 7.3 or 7.4, even with automatic updates turned off. I've updated all my drivers, started my PC with nothing plugged in but the power cord and it's still doing the thing.
I've been uninstalling Skype and reinstalling 6.14 every day for weeks now, I'm sick of it.
I need help. (I've included my DxDiag since I see a lot of support staff ask for it)

Perhaps information on the issue will be available in the System Information tool (msinfo32). Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type msinfo32.exe and press the OK button. This will open the System Information window. In this window click on File and select Export. Save the msinfo.txt file to your hard drive, Zip this file and attach the zipped file to your post here.
