Skype for Business, Transfer Calls appears blank

After the latest Skype For Business update a set of machines can no transfer calls. When attempting to transfer the "Invite by Name or Phone Number" screen is just a white box with an (x) close button.Once the June update KB/3054791 is removed:https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3054791The machine is able to see the UI and transfer the calls correctly?Has anyone see this with the June update? We have further verified that if change your desktop setting for the resolution it wil make the transfer call window blank Default DPI is set to 125%.  Doesn't work.100% works fine.  126% also works fine.  We have been able to reproduce this on two other machines.  Can someone also test to see if the same results happen.

A little more info... I've gone back to an affected computer and verified that setting the DPI to 125% for an unaffected user causes the issue in that situation. Many of our other computers don't exibit this issue after the KB3054791 update regardless of the DPI setting. I did try updating the video drivers on one of the affected computers and that made no diffrence. I'm still not sure what the correlation is between computers that are affected and computers that are not affected. It's very perplexing.

  • Skype for business unable to pick what device calls are trasfered to

Hi all Ever since the change from linc to SFB I no longer have any control over what device calls get transfered too. As an example I take an outside call caller needs to be transferred to my co-worker I try and transfer to my co-workers skype however it will always transfer to his/her mobile phone. This happens regardless of the settings my co-workers settings in skype. This is extremely frustrating as i have a few unhappy engineers giving me dirty looks when the calls go sometimes randomly to whatever device Skype sends a call too.  Please note I do not have access to Skype manager.

In Skype that can occur if the person is not online (or appears offline), so it forwards to their offline contact (phone number).   Since you have Skype for Business you should be contacting your admin or possibly finding a solution in the Office Community forums.  If you are the admin and are unable to find a solution, you should be putting in a request with Microsoft Office support.  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=270873

    Hello,
So the company that I work for will change from Lync to Skype For Business. Please correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've reasearched you can add regular Skype contacts from the Skype directory and also have international calls. Basically we want to do international calls and skype conversation from Canada to France by dialing a phone number in skype. How much are the rates if one Skype for Business account has the ability to do international calls ? I couldnt find any information regarding international calls.
    Thank you for your help

Hello and welcome to the Skype Community.
    1. That is correct.
    2. With Skype calls your location is irrelevant.  All calls are "local" worldwide.
    3. To call to France from anywhere [including from within France] the rates are detailed here for both calls using a Subscription and calls using Skype Credit.

  • Skype for Business - Cannot see shared screens, bu...

I just started a new job and am required to use Skype for Business.  I downloaded Skype for Business 32 bit.  My PC is 64 bit but because I already have other Office 32 bit programs, I cannot install the 64 bit version.
Everything in Skype for Business appears to work properly, except for the fact that I cannot see someone else's screen when they've shared it with me.  When someone shares their screen with me, all that I can see is the empty white box where their desktop should be.  When I share my screen with others, they can see my desktop correctly.
What other information is needed to help diagnose this issue?  I really need this functionality in order to do my job properly.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I was using Lync as part of the offerings found on Office 365 and I was prompted to "upgrade" to Skype for Business and so I did per the suggestion.  Lync had screen sharing, Skype for Business currently does not have screen sharing!  This is a major dissapointment.  Who is the product manager and why the premature roll-out?  This is incredebly frustrating as most all my clients leverage Lync (their own install on their servers... have not upgraded yet.. lucky for them) and screen sharing is an important part of my interaction.  It took many of my clients a long time to master Lync and therefore, it is incredebly challenging to teach them how to use an alternative tool over the phone.  I feel incridebly duped.  My clients can share with me however, I cannot share with them.  What is the current timeframe for enabling (re-enabling) this functionality?  How can I get back Lync?   Is there a beta release of the next version?  Finally, how can this be called "Skype for Business" when a core aspect of the tool to conduct "business" had been stripped away without warning?

  • Suppress first launch screen in Skype for Business

After upgrading from Lync to Skype for Business I notice there's a welcome screen with 7 quick tips that appears on first use. Just looking for the registry value(s) to suppress this.

    Hi,
I haven't known much about Skype for Business registry keys since there's only a preview version.
Anyway, I learned something from the previous version(Lync) to disable the Welcome screen, I tested it and didn't get the tips, please try if this works for you:
    Important
Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it,
back up the registry for restoration in
    case problems occur.
Press Win + R, type "regedit" in the blank box, press Enter.
    Browse to:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Communicator
    Create the DWORD: FirstRunPlayed
Set the value to as: 0
We can create this value on a test machine and check if this works. If yes, deploy it to all users then.

    Hi Stefan,
High-resolution user photos are displayed in Lync 2013 meetings when an active speaker does not have video enabled. Also, moving the mouse over thumbnail photo in the gallery will display the
    high-resolution photo.
Looks like the configurations are correct. Can you reproduce this issue by using Lync 2013 client ?

  • Skype for Business - Windows Phone app released

The Skype team arepleased to announce the availability of the Skype for Business app for Windows Phone.
Skype for Business - Windows Phone appWhat’s new—intuitive interface, more emoticons, improved server communicationsIf you are familiar with the Lync app for Windows Phone, you’ll notice a number of enhancements in the new app. The most noticeable differences right off the bat are the Skype for Business brand and UI, which is intuitive and familiar if you happen to use Skype in your personal communications. We’ve also revamped emoticons, which now offers over 100 emoticons to land your message visually.
We have improved how the app and the server handle conversation notifications. Once you’re notified of a new conversation on your phone, the other clients you have logged in won’t be able to grab the conversation and prevent you from...

The company I work for have just replaced Lync with Skype for Business, but how can I have Skype for Buiness and my "normal" Skype on the same laptop

They are two different programs.  I have both installed on several machines without issue.  I doubt you can use both simultaneously fully (like being on a video call on both at the same time, I don't know why you would) but they can definitely be installed side by side on the same computer.

In our environment we have several users that are using Skype for Business, and the rest using Lync.
We have noticed that when migrating our users over to Skype for Business, the contact functionality that shows "icons" next to each person's name is now blank.
As an example, my personal icon shows up for me but none of my contacts show their customized pictures.
Lync users can see my icon and can see everyone elses.
    Thank you

  • Skype for business questions

    Hello,
One of our customers is planning to implement Skype for Business in their infrastructure with 150+ users. They have some questions regarding Skype and we are unable to answer some of them, so i kindly ask you to assist us with the answers of those questions:
Is it possible to block all external users (contacts, messages and free skype calls) and comunicate only with the internal employees?
Is it possible to block (centraly) the options to change the address book or the settings in Skype?
Is there a option to have centraly managed history log?
Are there any additional fees for the implementation and how much SkypeOut $ credit is required to enable Skype for Buisness?
    Thank you and best regards,
    Zhivko Zhekov

Is it possible to block all external users (contacts, messages and free skype calls) and comunicate only with the internal employees?
Yes. Let you configure your company's firewall/router to only allow connections on a certain port thats routed via LAN and have all internal users set alternative port for Skype.
I'll assume with the above question, each Skype ID doesn't have any external contacts already incorporated into each account for company use only.
More details on what ports are required for Skype:
    https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA148/which-ports-need-to-be-open-to-use-skype-for-windows-desktop
If they using Mobile version of Skype, that could get trickier as they probably would still be connected different service provider giving them external access on ports if logged into Skype in two places at once. *I haven't tried this but that's what I would suggest*
    Thanks,
    Kent C.

  • Skype for business/ Lync feature request

I know that Lync will soon be rebranded as 'Skype for Business' so it would be nice if this was a feature.
A useful feature would be if you could set what your bitrate was for your Lync Video call. For example, I have multiple sites with synchronous 50Mbit connections, I don't need Lync to auto change the quality. I need it to remain HD. I have the bandwidth
for it. I know other VC systems have the ability to set bitrates, so I think it would be a useful feature for Lync to incorporate. What do you guys think? Also, if we had CBR or less VBR 2-5Mbit. It would be a much better system for newscasting and the likes.

    Hi,
I have recorded this request and thank you for your advice. Currently I can't guarantee this will be added, but please be assured that any improvements in the product are based on users' requirements. Our developers strive to capture Microsoft users' ideas
and are working hard to create a more powerful and easy-to-use product.

  • Skype for Business price

    Hi
I tryed to find price info for Skype for Business but can not find any. Is the price/user/month for Skype for Business the same as Skype Premium? Is there some differences between Skype Premium and Skype for Business?

I was looking into this as well. All I could find on it is an MSI installer, which is useful for employers with an IT head, but not so much the self-employed.
From what I'm understanding after reading through FAQ's and such is that depending on your business and whether you plan on using group video calls or not, you may not even need a Premium subscription. If it's just you, or a couple of computers using Skype, it's easy enough to keep them all on the same install version. I used this chart for my decision since I don't need the MSI files of the business client. http://www.skype.com/en/premium/
