Skype number inactive

I recently purchased a Kindle Fire HD 7" and installed Skype on it.  I paid for the subscription and Skype credits.  My bank shows both of those transactions, but when I open Skype it shows the credits, but says my Skype number is not active.  When I signed up I received a number.  What is wrong and how do I fix it?  Also how do I find people with Skype?

did this fix itself? i have the same problem on 2 new kindle fire hd's.

    Credit or a subscription is required for call forwarding or outbound calling.  Standard inbound calls consume no credit or subscription.  The people calling you still have to pay the standard rate it costs to call the Skype number from their phone (billed by their phone provider) similar to you having to pay for your Internet/Data plan bill to use Skype on your phone.

    Is there anything that was done out of the ordinary, originally, to get your software to work?
    In other words might the key be for a different type of license than the installer you're trying to use.

    Skype client version installed: 5.7.0.13054 I just purchassed a Skype number and it works for receiving calls on my mobile however i have some issues.1)In my profile it shows Skype Number as Inactive on the mobile app2)When i reject a call on the mobile app it will not go to voicemail, it just gives the engaged signal. (on the desktop version if i reject a call it goes to voicemail). IT WILL however go to voicemail on the mobile app if i let the call ring out. How i expect it to work:1) My skype number to show as active on the mobile app2) when rejecting a call using the mobile app it goes to voicemail 

    So the inactive number is fixed and i found out that on mobile apps when rejecting a skype call it will not go to voicemail only on the desktop version. This feature should be implemented.

  • Skype Number Not Forwarding

    My MX local skype number is active, current on billing and the forward is setup to a US (Dallas, TX) landline.  The forward is not working properly and going to a message saying the number is inactive.  The direct US landline number is working properly.  Any suggestions?  

    I wish I could edit my prior notes so I did not need to add comment to it as a reply to myself. Anyway, I updated the forwarding number in my Skype and put a Canadian number, and that is not working either. I thought the problem might be for an Iranian number but call forwarding not working for a Canadian number as well. So Skype simply sent me an email saying you have a voice mail (since I has not online connected to Skype).
    Please help

  • Cant cancel auto renewal of online skype number

    Cant cancel auto renewal of online skype number as per FAQ. 
    Its not cool that skype has changed the setting to require you to cancel the online number or you get auto renewed. Then as per the FAQ one of the links is inactive.

    Also I was wondering why my online number would not allow calls through.
    As per the FAQ it says that I need to enable all numbers to call my to avoid blocked numbers not in my contacts list. 
    Unfortunately the same link is u/s.
    I have been a customer for about 4 years and am now withdrawing all auto payments and moving to viber.
    I would also like to point out that since ios 6 the iphone app is unstable.

  • UK Skype Number on iPhone 5s

    Hi,
    I am doing this for the first time.  I am currently travelling alot and as such need to be contactable on a central number.  I would like that central number to be a UK number from skype where people from the US, UK and the Middle East can call me.  
    However in addition I was wondering, since I have the skype application on my iphone 5s, if there was a way that when someone calls me from the US, UK or the Middle East on the Skype UK number, if I can make it so that the number ports the call to my local number of the country I am in?
    For example, I am in the North of India at the moment.  And say I have obtained a UK skype number.  Someone from the Middle East calls me on the UK skype number and diverts to my India mobile number.  However I dont want the caller to know that I am in India or that the call was diverted to my India number. I want the caller to still think he/she is calling a UK number.  This would be the ideal scenario.
    However, I think what does happen and am not sure . . . in the same above scenario . . . when the person calls the UK skype number, it rings on my iphone but it rings on the skype application which means while the person thinks they are still calling the UK number, I am limited to always being around WIFI in order to accept the call.  If I am out and about with no WIFI, I cannot get the call.  What happens to the call then - does it go into some sort of voice mail where once I am within WIFI range I can return the persons call back?
    The other question I have - what happens when I call the person from the skype application.  Is there a way that I can call overseas and have them only see the UK skype number that I have obtained from skype?
    Any advise on what is the best method for me to follow so that people can reach me on one central number that is a UK based number and they think they are calling a UK number no matter where in the world I am.  AND when I call them all they see on their end is the same UK number.  And of course I would love for the solution to be economic in terms of cost and not to technical to use as I am not technical - I prefer the phone rings and  I pick or I pick the phone and I call kind of easy process .  And of course it should be compatible for my iphone 5s

    iOS 7 will offer call blacklisting, which in reality is not true call blocking.  It allows a call to connect, compares the caller ID information with a database of blacklisted numbers, and if a match is there, it hangs up the call without ever riniging.
    The feature is part of iOS 7, not specific to the iPhone 5s at all.

  • Is there any way to receive SMS on a Skype number?

    I just purchased a Skype number today and will be using Skype via the Skype app on my iPhone.  I've set up voicemail and have already testing calling out to a regular number from my Skype app/number and having someone call in to my Skype number.  It works great but the issue is with SMS texting.
    I realize that although I have the $2.99 plan for unlimited US/Canada calling that it does not include SMS text messaging. I realized I need Skype credit for that so just purchased $10 of Skype credit.  I see that it costs 11.2 cents to send an SMS text to a US based phone number.  Here is the issue.  If I read correctly you can only send an SMS text from a Skype number and there's no way you can receive a SMS text at a Skype number.  Is this true?  Since most of my communication is via SMS this means that Skype would be of very little use to me.
    Is there any way you can have Skype forward incoming SMS texts to your regular cell phone number?  Although this isn't my preference I realize people will try to send SMS texts to my Skype number. I don't want to forward voice calls to my cell # but if I'm able to forward SMS texts from my Skype number when they come in to my regular cell phone # this would solve that problem.

    I would recommend testing the SMS reply forwarding to your mobile number.  Depending upon the results and if this works for you, you could then contact Skype Customer Service to cancel and request a refund.
    In other words, SMS will be received via your mobile number, not via your Skype Number.

  • How to switch Skype number from 3-month plan to an...

    A friend initially subscribed to 3-months Skype number plan.  Now she would like to change to 1-year subscription.  However, there does not seem to be any option to do this.  The initial 3 months just passed and an automatic charge appeared on her payment card.  There does not seem to be any "modify" subscription option (not even a "cancel" subscription option).  There is no Skype/Microsoft support readily available.  This is very bad experience for her and it seems to be rather common issue.  I am actually surprised by this and have expected more from Skype/Microsoft.  Any ideas about how to change the subscription?

    As strange as this sounds, the short-term Skype Number contract needs to be cancelled.  When the subscription ends, the Skype Number is held in reserve for a period of 90 days, during which timeframe the number can be renewed for an annual term.
    If all else fails, please contact Skype customer service for further assistance.  I would report to Customer Service that the renewal e-mails were not received - after checking that the account's registered e-mail address is correct!  You would not believe the number of enquiries I read where a Skype account's registered e-mail address has fallen into disuse, not updated, and therefore resulting in no communications received from Skype.

  • Using a Skype Number on Multiple Devices

    I want to get a Skype number. I currently use Skype on my desktop and laptop computers. I will add the Skype Android app to my mobile phone. When I buy the Skype number, can I use it on all 3 devices or do I need a separate number for each device? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks. This is what I suspected, but needed confirmation.
    An extension to this question, then, is do all devices (desktop, laptop, mobile phone) all ring simultaneously when a call is received?
    I suspect that it does and I can answer on any of the devices, but I want to be sure.
    I am really new to this, but in light of near future travel plans, Skype will solve numerous communications issues on several levels.

    I have 2 skype numbers now because I can't figure out how to assign the other one I just bought, to a family member. Do I need to cancel that and start over?

    As a matter of fact, yes: Skype Numbers are associated with the account under which the subscription was started.  Skype does not permit Skype Numbers or any other subscription, or credit, to be transferred from one account to another.
    So, the best thing to do would be to cancel the number you do not need, contact customer service to explain the situation and to request a refund , and start a new Skype Number using the Skype account for the family member you wish to have a Skype number.   You or they should use their own payment method -- the Skype anti-fraud filters will catch your credit card being used for more than one account, and bar the payment; as a security measure, you may find your own account becomes suspended!
    All that said, if the family member does not use Skype and have their own account, that presents another wrinkle.

  • Error message when extending skype number

    Hi guys
    Really hope someone can help me with this. Been dealing with skype chat and email support for hours and hours over last three days with absolutely no progress.
    I have 8 skype numbers within my skype manager account and for some reason, one of them did not renew properly last week (the others renew every month or quarter). When I follow the steps to extend the number within the manager control panel (features, skype number, click on expired number, select "reactive number", pick monthly, quarterly or annual payments), I get the following message.
    Service Unavailable
    We're having technical problems. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Please try again after a few minutes.
    The same message appears on IE, Firefox and Chrome. This is our main office number and its incredibly frustrating for us. If I try to extend via the individual skype account (rather than manager control manager) I either get an error message or a message saying "your request has been sent to your administrator"
    Is there a solution out there? Is this a bug?

    Having same problem.  Spent one hour w/ Chat support, no joy.  Anyone get this addressed, and if so, what did you have to do?

    Additional information added: can the Skype number (formerly known as Online Number) be reached from a land or fixed line?   If yes, can the number be reached from a mobile phone?  If not, then the issue is different - the wireless carrier may not be recognizing the number.

  • Need to Immediately Deactivate a Skype Number

    I purchased a Skype number that turns out to have been previously owned by a scam operation and is still receiving calls.  I alreaday purchased a second Skype number to replace it, and canceled the first number.  
    The problem is that the first number is still active until the end of the subscription in 2015.   
    How can I deactivate this number immediately?   I don't expect a refund, I just want it to go away  now.    I really don't want to shut down the entire Skype account and lose my Skype name just to deactivate a phone number.
