  • Installation Problem - Skype for Desktop on Dell Venue Pro 8

I have a new Dell Venue Pro 8.  It had the modern Skype app installed out of the factory, but clicking on it made me download the Skype for desktop app.  It downloads fine (in looking through the forums, I saw that others had problems with this, but it was fine for me).  The problem comes when it's installing.  Skype brings up the "Installing Skype" window.  The problem is that it takes up the whole screen.  I can do what I need to with the "Select your language" drop-down menu, but there is nothing that lets me go to the next screen.  I see no "Next" or "OK" or anything like that to use to continue the installation process.  I cannot resize the window.  Maximize and minimize are the only options.  "Move" and "resize" are grayed out. Thank you for any ideas!

  • Delete key in on screen keyboard for Dell Venue Pro 8 tablet?

Using Windows 8.1 on a Dell Venue Pro 8 tablet. The software, onscreen keyboard does not have a Delete key. That makes it very hard to do any editing after highlighting a block of text. Hitting the backspace key takes it out of the block edit mode and
just deletes on letter at a time. Anyone know if this is a general Windows tablet problem or possibly some unique to the Dell Venu Pro 8 tablet? I would like to change the keyboard layout to include the Delete key. Also, is there setting so it could recognize
when to capitalize a word? I would think that my Sumsung phone would not have a better software keyboard, but it has a much, much better version in SwiftKey.

I guess you mean the "touch keyboard" ?
There is a "keyboard selector" key in the bottom right hand corner, which allows you to select alternative layouts - have you tried that?

  • Windows 8.1 randomly freezes and restarts on Dell Venue Pro 11

I have a new Dell Venue Pro 11 with Windows 8.1. It freezes at random times -- on random processes (music, firefox, etc.) -- goes to the BSOD and  into a restart. Happens a few random times-- a day; no pattern. Looking through the answers to related
questions seems it comes down to hardware problem (new machine) or reinstall the OS. Correct?

  • Projector works on Dell Venue Pro 11 tablet?

    Hi there
I am trying to run a director 11.5 windows projector (made on a mac) on Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet (win 8.1/1920x1080/baytrail CPU) and am having problems with "alignment" on the screen. The 1920x1080 movie seems to be loading but fills only about 60% of the screen. You can see the desktop through the other 40%. It appears that the movie (at normal size) has been shifted up by 250 pixels and to the left by 400 pixels and is playing. So you are seeing the desktop through lower "SW" portion of the screen.
This particular movie ran fine on a microsoft surface pro tablet a few months ago (no access to that projector file, I republsihed). Unfortuntately I do not have access to that surface tablet anymore. I am wondering if there is a problem with the integrated graphics hardware and/or the processor in the dell. The venue has the new baytrail processor and integrated intel graphics. The surface pro has an i5 processor.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    AK

Made some other windows projectors (on the mac) with the following results and run on the dell venue tablet.
    (1) 1600x900 - similar problem with only part of screen showing
    (2) 1280x720 - projector seems to be working and displaying properly. The projector image is scaled to fill the full 1920 screen width.
I am beginning to think that there is a problem with the intel integrated graphics hardware. I should add that the problem I am having also occured a few months ago when I tested a similar projector with a acer iconia w3 tablet (8 inch screen/windows 8.0/1280x800/atom Z2760 CPU/intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD hardware).
I hope that problem has a solution, hopefully coming as a director 11.6 upgrade and director 12.1 upgrade. I think this combination of cpu and graphics hardware is a going to do pretty good business.

  • Blackberry Desktop on Dell Venue Pro 8 Tablet Questions

I have read that it is possible to use Blackberry Desktop with Windows 8 & 8.1.  And I have read that Blackberry Desktop works with any version of Outlook other than 2013.   I have been told by Microsoft that I can install any version of Outlook older than 2013 onto a Windows 8 or 8.1 device.  HAS anyone out there done this.  I really like my Torch 9800 and wish to be able to use it with the new Dell tablet.  OR does anyone have any other inexpensive tablet ideas.

    Hello,
Some clarifications to resolve what you "have been told" versus what is accurate...

Note carefully that it states very clearly Windows 8...not 8.1

We can neither confirm nor deny what MS may or may not have told you.

Not me...but perhaps someone else...then again...

Please re-read the above system requirements page...I'm not at all sure that the Desktop Software is compatible with any tablet at all...but you need to compare your gear against what the Desktop Software supports.
    Good luck!

  • Info Dell Venue Pro/ unlocked

    Hi!
    Have some questions:
    1. Do you know if this phone can be used as hotspot (so I can have access to internet for other devices through this phone)?
    2. I have a sim card from Mexico - telcel, here it uses at&t to have service, does this phone work with my sim card?
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,
How about your problem now? Could your computer find other WIFI signal? If not, it is probably driver or hardware problem.
Firstly, please try to reinstall Wireless Card driver for test.
Secondly, if problem persists, you may need to contact Dell for further assistance.

  • Dell Venue Pro 11 w/Dock / Unable to concurrently use ethernet and wifi?

Does anyone know why you are unable to use the dock ethernet connection and the tablet's wifi connection at the same time?
I assume this is a limitation of the dock / tablet because if you hook a laptop up you can use the ethernet and wifi at the same time because they have different MAC addresses.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide....

  • Where to find Model Number on Dell Venue Pro 11

I am trying to figure out if my tablet will support dual monitors but I need to find the model number (box was thrown away long time ago). Where can I find the model number?

Do you mean the model number or the serial number? Both are available in the "More Info" link within "About This Mac" (on the first tab, "Hardware"). You can also find the serial number under your battery.

  • Will Dell Venue 8 Pro work with photoshop?

I was think about buy Dell Venue 8 Pro, but I want to use photoshop CC as sketchbook on my new-to-be portable tablet. I want use it on the go and in bed...
I don't plan to use tablet as final look.
    Will it work?
If you have used it.. How was it platform?
Because I already own firepro desktop that work very well with photoshop CC with too many layer.. ( and zbrush - up to 16 million polygon per sub-tool hee hee)
So I can finish off the job on desktop after tablet.

For those that find this post...yes, Photoshop CC does work extremely well on Dell Venue Pro 8. The only compromise is screen real estate--but aside from a few panel tweaks--everything is fine and surprisingly useable. We ran Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 on a DVP8 and compared it with a Mac Book Pro 2013--the DVP8 (32gig Version) was more responsive and extremely fast (though rendering required by After Effects not recommended DVP8). Make sure to get a Sandisk 64 MicroSDXC (http://amzn.to/1wtydtu)--and the tablet rocks. The programs I use frequently on Dell Venue 8 Pro are: Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, Indesign, Muse, Lightroom, Story, Audition and Media Encoder. While we have tried Premiere (projects and media on a USB 3.0 connected external)--some rendering processes were compromised--but not uneusable.

  • Dell Venue 11 Pro Camera/Video Issue

Hello All!I have some Dell Venue Pro 11 tablets running Windows 8.1. When I got them hooked up to our domain, I tried to take video and it was choppy. I realized that the camera roll was actually on one of our servers. Thererfore, there was a delay when retrieving the video from the server to the tablet. The solution was to move the camera roll to the C: drive on the device. And bam! It worked. Now I am encountering another problem: when I am not connected to a network or wifi, I open the camera app and get the message: We can't get to the camera roll right now, Something went wrong while accessing the camera roll. I cannot figure out why it would have a problem finding it if I have it locally stored on the C: drive under Public Desktop. If anyone can help with this, I would really appreciate it!John HeimIT Support TechBerks Counseling...

  • HT201272 Download apps/games to the Dell Venue 8 Pro (Windows based tablet)

My daughters each received a Dell Venue 8 Pro (windows based) tablet for Christmas. I was told that the iTunes apps and games can be transferred to this tablet. I am having trouble doing this. I can pull up the iTunes accounts with all the apps online, but not play or use them on the tablet itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
That's normal. You can use your Windows tablets with Windows 8.1 to store your device data with iTunes, but you cannot use iPhone and iPad apps. They are designed to run only in iPhones, iPads and iPods touch with iOS, not in computers

How are you booting? PXE or USB stick?
Try this..in WinPE open up the cmd prompt and type this in:
    diskpart
    list disk
That will tell you what disks that are seen. Usually the hard drive is 0. You can confirm by the total space of it. IF you see a disk 0 that matches the size of the hard drive in the tablet you can also try this and see if it helps:
    select disk 0
    clean
