Slide show music

why won't iphoto slideshow not use my edited tracks from i tunes, i have shortened length of tracks to fit in my slide show but whenever i try to add them they play full version of music instead of shortened one, if i play back on itunes music is how i have edited them, but  dragging them into custom playlist for slideshow plays full length
any help appreciated
thanks

Hi  Old Toad , thanks, I have manage to get 1 shortened version to play on slideshow, but this is the only one out of five, have tired numerous times and it is always track to play shortened version, will now try other ways even if i have to learn on garage band but have no idea as yet what to do on garage never having used this before.

Fix for AppleTV photo slide show music stopping after abut 20 minutes?

Just ran another series of tests ... I am now convinced that AppleTV's slideshow/screensaver is broken.
Too often it will 'get stuck' on one photo for minutes then show no photo and finally move on; in fact it is doing it right now.
I don't ever remember seeing this occur before the last upgrade.

  • Web Gallery Slide Shows:  Music and Captions an option?

The title sums up the question. Can web gallery slide shows (on my .Mac account) be made to look and sound like the slide shows i'm running in iphoto - with captions and audio?

    Mark:
You can get the captions to be displayed in the web gallery by running this script to move the description to the title field before you publish the gallery. After the gallery is published you can change the title back to the file name with the Photos->Batch Change menu option.
Have you considered using iWeb to create a photo page/slideshow and add the music to it. Here's a test page of such a setup. Be sure to read all of the comments on the linked page as there's a minor error noted in the script that is easy to correct.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto slide show music remotely through airtunes?

I have an iPhoto slide show, and music for the slide show is set up through itunes (an itunes play list). itunes it set to play through speakers though airtunes, which works for regular itunes playlist playing. Can i get my slide show to play though the speakers? It plays through my computer now, seems it ought to be able to send it to my speakers wirelessly like regular itunes can.
    thanks

    Dear "cheers",
I found airfoil and although a little pricy for shareware ($25), it does exactly what I needed. thanks
Oddly though, I had trimmed the ends (a few seconds of slience) off a couple songs in iTunes through the Get Info->otions-> stop time, but when the playlist was played through airfoil, it didn't play those shorter versions. So I took all the songs into Garage band and made them all the perfect length and spliced them all into one song, exprted into iTunes, so now things are timed perfectly with one cut that plays with my iPhoto slide show.

  • PSE 7 Strips Out Slide Show Music

I have created a PSE 7 slide show of about 150 pictures.  I have included a music track as background while the slides play.  I full screen preview the slide show and all is good -- I can also save and go out of PSE 7 then go back in and open the slide show and re-preview and all is still good.  I then select to output the slide show to DVD and let PSE and Premier run their standard course to get to a burned DVD.  All is good, no errors, and the process completes ending in a burned DVD.
Problem is that near the beginning of the process, when PSE 7 creates the .wmv file, it strips out the music track for the slide show.  I know this is where the problem occurs because I have gone in and played the .wmv file in Windows Media Player and the slides are fine but no music.
I have done the exact same thing with only 6 slides and music is in fact included.  The burned DVD of that small slide show plays fine and with music.
What is going on???  Does making a slide show with 150 pictures push the limits of what PSE 7 can handle, even though I get no error messages???
    Thanks!

  • Elements 4 Slide Show Music

I've distributed two new PDF slide shows to about a dozen people each. A LOT of the recipients have problems with the music -- sometimes it doesn't play at all, sometimes it's jumpy, etc.
Is this a Photoshop slide show problem, an Acrobat Reader problem, a producer/director problem, or ???

    Louis,
I don't have PSE4 yet, but adding music to a PDF slide show was an integral feature of Photoshop Album 2. It can still be done in PSE3 but you can't save them as PDF files. I presume therefore, that this functionality has been reintroduced to PSE4.
I soon discovered that for people to view AND hear my pdf slideshows they needed Adobe Reader version 6 or later. In some circumstances, there was/is a plug in available for version 5 to enable this facility.
Karin has made a valid point too. If you do burn your slide show to disk, PSA2 also burned in the core engine of Adobe Reader too. This overcame the problem of recipients either not having the necessary version or not having it at all! The slide show simply ran off the disc. However, be warned, I found that the amount of data that had to be read from the disk sometimes made the slide show pause whilst it caught up with itself.
To help overcome this, ensure that the images you include in your show don't take up unnecessary memory space to reduce the read time. If they're only ever going to be viewed on screen, save them as JPEGs with a standard size of something like 1024 x 768 pixels and a resolution of no more than 72 pixels per inch.
    Best of luck.

  • Slide show music/in sync

How can I match my music time with the slide show time. Also my 1st slide stops but music plays the song. Thax

I think I understand your question: You want to be able to synchronize your slideshow presentation with an audio track.
To do this you first create your slideshow, with all of the Builds and Transitions in place. Then you open the Inspector / Documents / Audio window. Here you have the ability to bring in an audio track to use as a Soundtrack (either by importing it from iTunes or dragging the audio file into the Soundtrack window) and then Recording it as the Soundtrack for the slideshow presentation.
When you click the Record button, the audio track will begin playing and the slideshow will begin. Then just Click in sync with the music to trigger the Builds and Transitions you have created. Once completed, the slideshow presentation will play with the music and slides synchronized as you recorded them.
IF you make a mistake while recording, you will need to start over.
To learn how to do this effectively, I suggest you create a short trial presentation of five or six slides and practice with this until you get the feel of the process. Then go ahead and do your complete presentation.
    Good luck.

  • Setting slide show music in iPhoto doesn't change slide music in Front Row

When I try and view slide shows in Front Row, I always get the same classical music.
I have searched the internet and most suggestions tell you to change the settings in iPhoto and this will be mirrored in Front Row - but this isnt working?
Does anyone have a simple way of changing the Front Row slide show settings?
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You might try exporting to Quicktime and then add the resulting QT movie to iDVD and see if the timing remains intact.
Are you using the KB effect or multiple transitions in the slideshow? If not I find that I get better quality slideshows by building them in iDVD from the stills. That way I can add titles and/or comments to each slide if so desired, get the music to sync as it should (I like to add a blank, black slide a the end so the music ends in that slide). Downside: no KB effect and only one transition. Upside, better forward and backward control of the slideshow, better quality of the slides and all slides can be scaled to the TV Safe area so none of the image is lost to the TV Over-scan.

  • Editing slide show music

This seeems a simple question but I ahve searched HELP and cannot find an answer. I am working on a slide show DVD and have added music to the project. Now I have changed my mind and want to delete the original selection and add new music but cannot see how to do this.
    Thank you

    SDMacuser,
I saw your post in regards to iDVD help, so I thought I would pick your brain for a few mins. I appologize in advance for the length of this email I am new to making DVD's on my MacBook Pro. I made the first one yesterday.
One issue I have is when playing them on dvd players (located here in europe, and also Media Player on pcs) other than my mac dvd player. Correct me if I am wrong, but the images, when dropped into a slideshow become "chapters". The chapters (pics) on my mac go up to 99, then continue, but are "rewritten" again in the same slideshow as 1, 2, 3, etc. On pcs and the dvd players here, new titles are created with more pics in them. Have I missed something super simple? I did change the format in the info screen to PAL, and not NTSC, in order for the dvd to be played on the players here in europe. I will be making more dvds to send home to the States, and will make them as NTSC.
Second, I enjoy the theme music for the "Travel Cards" dvd theme in iDVD'06. Is there any way to use the music file clip for he other slideshows? I have searched for it using Spotlight, but to no avail. I saw your response in how to incorporate music files to the slideshow, now I just need to find that particular file
I appreciate any help that you might be able to assist in this matter.

  • Where are my slide show music settings

I recently upgraded to iPhoto 6.0.3. When I try to make a slideshow I click the Music button and check my song selection from my iTunes library. The song I had selected for the album is not longer selected. I've lost all my song selections I had saved for each of my albums. Is there any way to get these back?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I'm not sure. The only thing I can think of is to use iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the library. It creates a new library and uses the info from the original library's data files for it's info. It might just pickup on the music assignments and assign them correctly. If you don't like the resulting library you can trash it and go back to the current one. Here's how:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: It can take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. One user reported that with a library of about 5,000 images it took about 12 hours so plan ahead.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Another application that I use is Amadeus II. Although not free you can edit songs with it, clipping dead space, do fade ins and outs, change formats and join multiple tracks and then save as a new file. Very versatile.
Users who use Garageband report you can do the same with it but I don't use it so can't confirm. I did try it once and found it a bit overkill and more complicated that I needed.
