Slide to unlock does not slide (repeat)

Hi, everyone.  I actually raised this question a few nights ago, but then two respondents had some odd fight on the disussion board (about what I have no idea), and I never got a resolution.
Anyway, my slide to unlock does not slide.  I have connected my Ipad to Itunes, and restored the factory settings an rebooted a few times.  No luck.  For what it is worth, the "slide to power off" does work.
Any theories on what I should do next?
Thanks,
Jack

I was one of the respondents and what I/we said is not totally uncommon on this site - I realize that our dialog was of no help to you and I apologize for that as well.
And I agree with the gentleman from Tampa. I don't think that there is anything more that you can do if you have restored the device to factory settings.
The only thing that I would add is that when you restored to factory settings - did you restore to a backup as well? If you did, then the backup may be corrupt and the problem could be in your backup. If you restored to factory settings and then tried the iPad - without adding any content at all - you should make an appointment with an Apple Genius and let them have a look.

  • I never set a passcode for my iPad but it is locked and I can't get it unlocked.  The "slide to unlock" does not work.  How do I get it unlocked?

I never set up a passcode for my iPad 2 but it is locked and I can't unlock it.  The "slide to unlock" does not work.  Any suggestions on how to unlock it?

You have to slide to unlock to bring up the keyboard if a passcode is set. If you can't slide then try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • Slide to Unlock Does not respond.

I have the new iPad.  When I turn it off and then back on, the slide to unlock does not respond.  However, when I do slide it and wait a little bit, it does unlock.  Is there anything I can do to get the slide to unlock to respond?

I have the same problem as dberkovich and I too did resets, restores, reboot, etc.  Still acts the same.
    Power up iPad (3-new)
slide to unlock is frozen, lights do not move in the background,
wait 10-15 seconds, screen goes black
push home button and slide to unlock is working perfectly.
This occurs everytime after complete power off and then back on.
Took it to a Mac Store,(not Apple store) and representative said "We've never heard of this and it may be software and you should take it to an Apple store."
Fact:  My nearest Apple store is about a 3 hour drive each way with even no traffic.
This problem occured when my software was updated with IOS6.

My Iphone 5 is stuck in portrait orientation and unlocking the button does not do it

Okay, if a reset does not solve the issue, then the next user troubleshooting step is a restore from backup. If that does not work, then restore as new. If neither of these will solve the issue, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have the hardware checked.

  • IPod Touch Gen 2 turns on but the slide to unlock does not slide

    Hello all,
Yesterday morning my iPod Touch was fine. Yesterday evening it would turn on, but I could not make the slide to unlock bar slide over. There is a specific point where it looks like it will go, but it stops and slides back to the far left. I have tried restoring it, but it still won't slide. It is updated to the new OS and has been working for several weeks before this happened. It still connects to iTunes and it charges just fine. I do have the 'grey app icons' issue, but after reading several posts, it doesn't seem related. It was extremely cold yesterday. Could I have inadvertently broke something? There are no cracks or obvious differences other than I can't make the bar slide over.
    Thanks for looking this over.

I did all that you have listed here and I still cannot make the slide to unlock bar move. And when I press and hold the on/off sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time I get another slide bar at the top that I cannot move and a cancel button at the bottom that works at only one spot on the button. It is as if the screen is registering my touch at one vertical line on the whole screen.

  • HT1459 unlock button does not slide

    How to fix?

No it does not... buttons do not slide, they get pressed.
So is the issue with the lock button at the top of the device or the "Slide to unlock" option on the screen?

  • Have the IPhone g and when I slide my finger across it to unlock it or even turn it off it does not do anything does anyone know why.

I have the IPhone 3g and when I slide my finger across it to unlock it or even turn it off it does not do anything does anyone know why.

Try resetting it: hold the on/off and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), then release and wait for it to restart.

I have the IPhone g and when I slide my finger across it to unlock it or even turn it off it does not do anything does anyone know why.

Looks like you have relocked a hacked phone when you updated.  The only way to fix it would be if you could figure out the original carrier and see if they would unlock it.

my touch screen does not respond to my "slide to unlock". reset does not help. iPhone 4S works otherwise.

I cannot use it. I can get calls and text messages but I can't respond because the screen is locked and I can't "slide to unlock" because the touch screen does not work.

    Hello TaylerLauren,
I read your post, and it sounds as though the Voice Over feature has been activated. I have linked to an article that will instruct you on how to use it, and the location in Setting where you can turn it off:
    iOS: Configuring accessibility features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5018
Voice Over information from the iPhone User Guide:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
    VoiceOver
VoiceOver describes aloud what appears onscreen, so you can use iPhone without seeing it.
VoiceOver tells you about each item on the screen as you select it. The VoiceOver cursor (a rectangle) encloses the item and VoiceOver speaks its name or describes it.
Touch the screen or drag your finger over it to hear the items on the screen. When you select text, VoiceOver reads the text. If you turn on Speak Hints, VoiceOver may tell you the name of the item and provide instructions—for example, “double-tap to open.” To interact with items, such as buttons and links, use the gestures described in Learn VoiceOver gestures on page 130.
When you go to a new screen, VoiceOver plays a sound, then selects and speaks the first item on the screen (typically in the upper-left corner). VoiceOver also lets you know when the display changes to landscape or portrait orientation, and when the screen becomes locked or unlocked.
Note: VoiceOver speaks in the language specified in International settings, which may be influenced by the Region Format setting in Settings > General > International. VoiceOver is available in many languages, but not all.
    VoiceOver basics
Important: VoiceOver changes the gestures you use to control iPhone. When VoiceOver is on, you must use VoiceOver gestures to operate iPhone—even to turn VoiceOver off.
Turn VoiceOver on or off. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver, or use the Accessibility Shortcut.

  • HT1766 My touch screen does not seem to be working. The slide to unlock will not slide

My touch screen does not seem to be working. I can not slide to open my phone or slide to turn off.

You have tried restarting, right? Also, try holding the home and sleep/wake buttons together for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. See if that helps. If it doesn't and you think this is a hardware problem, taking it into the Apple Store is your best bet.
