Slider bar name changes when the phone times out

WHen my iphone4 times out the slider bar usually say slide to unlock or open. For the past 3-4 days it has said jakeallan3. It doesn't do it everytime but quit often.

I recently had a similar problem with my 3GS (4.2.1) when I travelled to another capital city (but same country) last weekend. I have had the phone for nearly 18 months and not experienced this problem before. Also, there was another iPhone traveling with me (3G 4.2.1) which did not experience this problem. Both phones are connected through the same telco. The only difference between the phones we were travelling with are the model and the Profile on my phone being created using the iPhone Configuration Utility.
The symptoms were:
a. soon after beginning using data in the new city, the phone began to feel quite hot.
b. tried to prolong use by switching wifi, bluetooth off.
c. phone drained quickly turning itself off. After recharging fully the phone again drained quickly. From this point ran through this cycle of events a few times
d. noticed that data usage had risen dramatically (by some gigabytes). However later confirmed that this was not reflected on my billing data at my telco. (luckily - the additional usage would have cost around $4,000,000 on my plan - no exaggeration)
e. turned my phone to flight mode to prevent inadvertent data usage - phone still ran from full to empty in 4.5 hours and remained warm.
On returning to my home town battery life returned to normal and my phone remains cool.
I would like to understand what was going on as this makes the phone unusable if travelling. Given that this has occurred with johnki's two 3GSs on several occasions and almost the same with me i am concerned that my phone will be useless to me outside of my home town.

Why is my ipod shuffle pausing my music when the screen times outs?

My Ipod shuffle is pausing whenever the screen times out...please help.

Make sure your headphones are plugged in all the way, meaning you cannot see any of the silver still showing from the headphone's plug.
A feature of the Nano is to put it to sleep when the display goes out and it does not detect any headphones.

When you said you have no fax machines on your line, that does include computers directly connected to the phone line?
The reason that I ask is a computer with a dial-up modem (a non broadband modem) that can connect to your phone line, can have software that makes the computer act as a fax machine.

I thought that at first, but I have text this person before and had received responses in a timely manner. Its just weird that it all of a sudden removed their name.

There is another setting for "Start Conversation from", that needs to be set to phone number.

I can tell you that with Sprint their coverage area isn't as good as Verizon or AT&T.
Are you sending these imessage while on wifi or cellular data? Also your husband would need to be in a good coverage area.
Usually when imessage is unavailable it will send it as a text. Does your husband receive your imessage as a text?

Secondly, can the shutter sound be turned off when taking a pic?

The Jolt can not be reduced..
..and Check the Camera settings.. In some phones you can disable the Shutter sound but in most of cases you can not.. ..rather you may get option to Change the sound.. so select that is NOT like a shutter sound instead..

Time stops when the phone is off.

Got myself in a terrible situation here: after installing and removing 'Switch Off' program my e61's internal timer stops when the phone is off. I mean, if I switch it off at 23.00 and switch it back on at 08.00, the time will still be 23.00. That's a total disaster I have here and I tried to reset the phone and uninstall everything but nothing happened- still the same problem. Any ideas?

It sounds like you are listening to iTunes Radio and it stops shortly after you start listening. I recommend starting by signing out of your iTunes account in Settings > iTunes & App Stores. Then close all the running apps on the device:

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue by signing back in to your account, and testing again:

I have been advised by Apple that the latest IOS update may overcome this situation but I'm only on slow download speeds and 690 Mb would take forever. I would appreciate any advice.

When the phone is unlock all the sounds are fine, but as soon as it locks it goes dead silent mode!

No. It is only on imessage which has to be an apple product. ipod, iphone, ipad, or mac. Will not work on other phones.

Tap Settings, tap General, tap Passcode Lock, tap Turn Passcode On. When that is enabled, below there is an option to toggle Voice Dial on or off (note: Music Voice Control is always enabled). Unfortunately, if you do not want Passcode Lock on, you cannot disable this feature.
