Slideshow - player controls, fwd, rew, pause
Wondering why the transport buttons (rew, fwd, pause) on DVD machine don't work with discs created by iDVD?
I've tried putting the disc in different players, still can't pause on any of my photos.
Also tried checking the box for 'display during slideshow'.
btw I have tried searching for an answer on this discussion - forgive me if it's here but I couldn't find it.
Any known fixes?
thanks, dg
Okay - a little more testing has revealed the menu < and > arrows do work - but still don't have ability to pause a shot - can be frustrating.

I go to multiple websites that contain embedded media, such as billburr.com, tunein.com, and forums where members embed media from sites like YouTube. When attempting to access or use that media, using the available play, stop, pause, and volume control buttons, FireFox doesn't respond. For example, If I'm on billburr.com and attempt to play the podcast, I can click the play button over and over again and nothing will happen. The play button lights up like the site realizes I'm clicking it, but the media will not play, at least not the first time. I might get it to work after several fast clicks. However, if I need to pause it, I have the same trouble. These sites work perfectly in IE 9. I've already started FireFox in safe mode, but encountered the same problem. Has anyone seen this?
That is a Flash player on the billburr<i></i>.com site.
You can try to install the 32 bit Flash player for Firefox from this page.

For Firefox on 64 bit Windows, you need the 32 bit Flash version version because Firefox is a 32 bit application. -

Hi Shanku1337,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If the controls in Control Center are not behaving properly, make sure you've tried all the steps in our iPhone assistant, starting with restarting the device:

Divx web player won't show me any player controls.
I recently reinstalled divx on my macbook and now for some reason when i am streaming a divx video in safari there are no player controls. The video plays fine and when i double click, it was go to fullscreen. But it doesnt pause even when i push space bar. Any suggestions?
Having the same problem with some but not all of my 15" and 17" core I5 and I7 macbook pros. All are based on the same image. The afflicted ones can run DVD Player with the 32bit kernel but not with the 64bit kernel. applejack seemed to fix two out of three of them, but on at least one of those the problem returned. When it doesn't work, the DVD Player is running and I can hear the audio, but the video is black.

No Quicktime player controls in web browser plugins
When using the Quicktime plugin under Firefox or Internet Explorer I do not get any player controls (play/pause, progress, volume etc). All that displays is a black bar where the control bar should be.
I am running the latest version of Quicktime player (downloaded it yesterday). I am using Firefox 3 RC2 and Internet Explorer 7.
Please advise how I can get the player controls to work, because as you can imagine, its pretty hard to play videos/sounds without them.I have seen similar problems on latest QuickTime v7.5.5 on Vista SP1 64bit platform... when viewing Lynda.com training videos under IE v7 and Firefox v3.02/v3.03. Specifically, the controls are not visible and/or do not work properly (eg reset to start when click on mid-point of timeline) and other times the video blanks out in windowed of full-screen mode with no suspend or power issues... and I am forced to restart QuickTime for video to re-display. The video controls in windowed mode also sometimes do not work.
I found the solution was to change the ADVANCED settings of the QUICKTIME player...
Open Quicktime 7 player... but do not open any content.
Click on Edit tab and go to Preferences, then click on Quicktime Preference.
On window that opens, click on the Advanced tab
You will see a selection under VIDEO heading for Safe Mode (GDI only) or Direct X.... click on Safe mode (GDI only)
Then click on Apply, then OK.
Restart Quicktime and play a movie to test it.
For me, this resolved all my problems... even though had latest DirectX installed. I hope this helps in your case!

QuickTime 10 player controls annoying, can they be changed?
Hi,
The new player for QT10 has the player controls sitting on top of the actual video window, they do fade away and disappear once you hit play and move the mouse off the player, however, when the mouse is over the video window or the video is paused, the player control box sits permanently on the video. I can drag the player control box anywhere within the video box, but I can't get it out of the player. I would like it to live under the video image, below the player window. I can't find any options for changing this. This really is a HUGE annoyance for me. Does anyone know of a solution for this?I would like it to live under the video image, below the player window. I use QT 7.6.3 Pro as the main Player/Editor and, after a bit of playing around, now have it set as the "default" non-iTunes movie file application under Snow Leopard. -
Show quicktime player controls in Keynote for iOS?
I am trying to build an interactive iPad presentation in Keynote, which is essentially a wrapper for hundreds of training videos. On the mac, you can pause and scrub through a video housed within a Keynote presentation but I do not see that option on iOS. Can anybody confirm this, or does somebody know a way to enable quicktime player controls on a video playing in Keynote?
Thanks!
BrianFOUND THE SOLUTION:
I had this same problem and this resolved it for me:
-Go to your "Settings" icon and click on the "General" tab.
-About 2/3 way down the page you will see "Use side switch to:" - make sure "mute" is checked rather than "lock rotation."
-Then make sure the side switch, located next to the volume toggle switch on the side of your ipad, is moved to the right (no red dot showing).
My audio worked fine in embedded videos after I did those two things. Hope it works for you. -
Putting player controls on a swf (not flv)
I've created a .swf "movie" in flash - you hit enter, an mp3
lecture starts playing, and slides of text appear at the
appropriate times.
Now I want to put it on the web, but I'd like to be able to
skip through the presentation/lecture with a seek bar, and
pause/rewird/fast forward with buttons. I'm creating a lot of these
.swf movies/presentations, and I don't know much about flash or
action script, so I'd like to keep it simple. Is there an
embeddable player or something that can load my .swf movie and play
it and seek through it, or can I drop some player controls right
into the movie itself?
I've seen a few players that can show these kinds of controls
for flv movies, but none for .swf movies. Is there an easy solution
built into flash that I'm missing?
ThanksThis is also the problem I want to solve. I generated a Flash
movie with frame by frame animation. Each frame is interactive with
many dynamic movie clips, and some actions are defined on them. I
want to use FLVplayback component to control the play of the Flash
movie.
After I output the Flash movie to avi format, I found all the
dymanic movie clips disappear (only a few static texts exist).
After the conversion from avi to flv format, I got the same thing:
all the dymanic stuff is gone.
How can I keep the interactive dymanic movie clips, and use
FLVPlayback to play the Flash movie? Any good suggestions to
achieve this?
Thanks,

How to disable player controls when embedding mp4 video?
I am trying to embed a mp4 video in a web page. Is there a tag for hiding the player's controls? I want my video to loop without any display of the player controls. Also, if anyone knows of some sample code for embedding .mp4 with all available tags I would sure like to see it.
Thanks,

Clip notes - no player controls
I am trying to use clip notes - only problem is that everything is fine except the player controls don't show up below the clip. The controls are there if you click on the area, but you just can't see them (Just a black bar)
I'm using Reader 9Let me guess:
You chose Quicktime for the video format, and you are using Vista 64.
Correct?
If so, then you are probably still OK. Apple doesn't support Quicktime
player on 64-bit Windows, and a symptom is the lack of visible
controls. But the file will play back just fine on 32-bit Windows, and,
I assume, on a Mac.

Autohide Flash Player Controls
I've imported a Video file into Flash and added Player
Controls.
I've set the Autohide option to TRUE... so when the player
loads you can't see the Player Controls until Mouse Over.
This is all good... but they stay there and I don't want
that. I'd like for them to disappear again.
How do I set it so the Player Controls disappear
again?Yeah I started to wonder if I could add a 2 px thick transparent "frame" around outside edge of the movie that - when moused over - would trigger the autohide. but I am not enough of a Flash/AS person to know how to do that.
Thanks for your help. I am hoping we can figure this out.

Hi guys
I'm using Captivate 3 and when I publish, there are no player
control bar. its works fine in the preview.
Any ideas?
Many Thanks
GrahamHi Graham
Are you publishing in .EXE format? If so, I've seen it where
you record something full screen and the .EXE doesn't show the
playback controls. If this is what is happening, it's likely
because the controls are out of the viewable screen area. One way
to confirm this is to click File > Save As... to produce a new
copy of your project, then click Project > Resize Project... and
shrink the copy by perhaps 40% (60% of original size) then publish
that and I'm guessing the controls are there.
I think you will find the bottom line answer here is that
your movie size needs to be smaller. Either that, or you need to
click Project > Skin... > Borders tab and DE-select the "Show
Borders" check box so as to push the playback controls up and
partially cover part of your movie.

I'm looking for a vcr control that will control audio
playback -- pause, rewind, or drag to a position midway -- that I
can use with an external audio file. The person viewing the
Captivate slide would be able to start, stop, or repeat sections of
the audio. Why? Our sales training uses audio examples that are
5-10 min long and we need to let the user control whether the
dialog plays and then skip around to review parts of the recording
at will.
I've puzzled through the Captivate 2 help file and figured
out how to let the user stop and start the audio. I can't find a
clue about how to let the user pause or skip around.
Any suggestions?Hey, thanks for the tip. Sounds promising. I'll give it a try
and let you know.
Also, I've not described why I want to allow the user to
control audio, so it does seem an unusual need.
I'll use the Captivate Soft-Skills Sample that comes with the
application as an example. On the path between slide 10:Closing and
13:End insert a slide that lets the learner listen to three
examples of a sales person greeting a prospect . Oh yeah, while
they listen show a transcript of the conversation so they can read
along.
These three audio examples are not just snippets, like the
shopper's responses on slides 5-10. Instead they are a real life
conversation between an actual shopper and sales person. Suppose
the example audios are each 2 - 3 minutes in length, which is the
average duration of a real sales greeting. Ask the learner listen
to the greeting examples and then rank them into good, better, best
using a matching question or Likert scale or whatever.
In our experience the learner will want to compare the
examples by listening more than once, rewinding to a phrase or a
key point, etc. If they can't easily do so, they complain about the
inconvenience of always having to start from the beginning. Then
they unkindly mention the dvd remote control, adding "how hard can
it be?". I tell you, I'm tempted to suggest that the real problem
is lack of short term memory on the learner's part but we are
customer oriented, eh?
Finally, suppose that after a series of lessons in how to
sell, an audio example includes the entire sales interaction from
greeting to close. We use this a final integrative exercise in
preparation for certification by a panel of grizzled sales
managers. So now the length of each example is about 10 minutes.
Believe me, it's hard to sell someone enough furniture for an
entire room in 10 minutes and be close to realistic; but we manage.
Short audio is terrific. We use it all the time. Just let it
play as the movie unfolds and the user can jump to next slide or
back, if bored or confused. Captivate seems to be just the ticket.
But short audio doesn't match real life interactions. In our
world shoppers seldom say, "Oh really" and then stop so you can
supply the next step. Perhaps in the training but never in the
showroom. Extended audio is also required in our environment. If
for no other reason, I convinced our team to use it in integrative
exercises and we are most pleased with the results. It's just that
learners need to be able to rewind and jump around and I've got all
this audio recorded . . .
So, I'm evaluating whether we should migrate to Captivate,
which offers so many advantages, or look elsewhere. Again, thanks
for the advice and I'll update my tale of woe to let you know the
results. -
How to publish a Captivate piece to Import as Animation with Media Player Controls
I want to record a demonstration of an application using
Captivate 3. Then, I want to publish this as a flash piece. (swf).
Then, I want to "import as animation" into a WBT template using
Captivate. The issue I am having is importing the flash piece to
include the media player controls so the user has control of only
that flash piece. Usually, we get two swf files one of the main
recording and another of the skin (media player). I know I am
missing something either in my publishing options or somewhere
else.
Can anyone help?Welcome to our community, juando_m
You might try this. In the first project, click Project >
Skin... > Borders tab and DE-select the "Show Borders" check
box. This should coax the playback controls into the main part of
the movie so there is a single .SWF. You could then have the
playback controls present in the .SWF you insert into the second
Captivate.
Note that doing this will also cause the playback controls to
cover part of the movie.
I'm not sure how well the playback controls will work once
the project gets inside the second. So I wouldn't be too surprised
if they failed to work. But they might. So it's definitely worth
trying to see.

On certain web sites(with java applets embedded or rich content),sometimes browser hotkeys are beeing used with other functionality (eg.: youtube uses ctrl + tab for sliding between player controls). How can I prevent this ?
Thanks for posting this!
I would only mention that your definition is incomplete for this -
