Slideshow with music for a TV?

I want to create a slideshow of images and use the Ken Burns effect and add music and burn the slideshow to DVD so it can be played on a TV.
1. Is the music added in iPhoto or iDVD?
2. How do I send the images from iPhoto to iDVD?
Thanks!

You can make the slideshow in either iPhoto (and use the Share -> send to iDVD) command, or in iDVD. You can add the music where ever you make the show. If you make it in iDVD the Ken Burns effect is not available.

    Hi,
I'm not sure about how you came to the idea that PSE would help you create slideshows with music. To do that seriously, you need a more specialized software like PicturesToExe for example : http://www.wnsoft.com/picturestoexe/ (I have no relationship with this company but I have seen what my fellow photographers are doing with this software).

  • I created a 23 minute slideshow with music. how can I share it? youtube and smugmug both say it is too large?

I created a 23 minute slideshow with music of family vacation. Youtube and smugmug both said it was too large to post for my family.
suggetions please?? I use to use Mobileme...

A few different ways about this. You could split the slide show into smaller sections that are withi the limits for posting and then post each section.
You could try a different encoding to make the file smaller. What settings did you use when you created and exported the slide show?

  • Will  an iPhoto slideshow with music work on all computers in China?

I am making a promotional DVD for an education program in the US, and taking it to China to education fairs. If it is an iPhoto slideshow with music, will it work on all Chinese computers? I assume so, because since it is not video, I should not have to worry about different formats-right? I've got enough to worry about on this trip!
    Prof. Fisher

On every single computer in China? Impossible to tell. But if you create a slideshow in iPhoto and send it to iDVD to be burned to a DVD then it will play on anything that plays DVD.

  • Can I drop an IMovie Slideshow with music into IDVD?

    Hello,
I created (and it took a long time) a slideshow with music using IMovie. Now I want to burn it to a DVD and am realizing I need to put it into IDVD. I saved it to my desktop and then dropped it into the IDVD Magic program but it does not save the slideshow. Or if it does, I can't seem to figure out how to play it. I also can't figure out how to choose the picture for the IDVD theme page. Any help with how to burn my IMovie slideshow on a DVD using either IDVD or some other way, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Or if it does, I can't seem to figure out how to play it.
Click on the "Preview" button in the bottom left corner of the iDVD window. For more details go to iDVD Help: >_Making a Magic iDVD_
I also can't figure out how to choose the picture for the IDVD theme page.
Once you have added your slideshowGo to Help: _Adding images and movies to drop zones_
Any help with how to burn my IMovie slideshow on a DVD using either IDVD or some other way, would be greatly appreciated.
I am not familiar with the workings Magic DVD, but if you have already created the slideshow, it might be just as easy to follow the regular route in making this project. If you wish to try this, follow these steps.
    1. Open iDVD, select to create a new project, and name it.
    2. Select the theme.
    3. Import your slideshow into iDVD. Go to your movies folder (or wherever your project is saved), and drag the iMovie icon (the one with the star) to the window of your iDVD project. Avoid drop zones.
    4. You can add photos to the drop zones by clicking on the "Media" Button in the bottom right corner, and then on "Photos". Just drag and drop the photos to their desired location.
    5. Preview by clicking on the triangle at the bottom of the window.
    6. When you are ready to burn, first go to File>Save as disk image. This will allow you to have a final check of your project before burning to DVD. You can see how this project will actually play when played on a regular DVD player. If everything is fine, you can then burn the DVD using Disk Utility.
    I hope this helps.

  • Slideshow with Music?

Hello. I’m looking for some help with creating slideshows, with music, and creating a web page so it plays for friends (Mac or Windows users).
I can do the basics. I’ve selected a group of photos in iPhoto (6.0.4) and created a slideshow, then I selected Music. I clicked Play and was happy with the results. Now what?
By accident, my first slide show (while in iPhoto) encorporated a sound track (Sample Music - “Acoustic Sunrise.”) And when I played the show it looks and sounds great. But I am unable to replicate this for posting on the web.
When I select a group of photos from my Library and then select the “Create Slideshow” button, I get options that include Music. However, when I choose the iWeb button and use the drop down menu to select Photo Page, I no longer have the option to include music.
Likewise, if I Save a slideshow while in iPhoto, then go to Share - Send to iWeb, nothing happens. It is greyed out.
Soewhere along in this process I managed to Publish. But the published shows do not include the sound track. I can’t see any option for including music.
I’m confused. I’m trying to do anything fancy here. I just want to post what it is I am getting in iPhoto on my desktop so family-friends can view and hear. Help?

Noodlehead, I share your frustration & disappointment at the lack of elegant interface between iPhoto, Keynote, and iWeb. I am frustrated! I have spent all night creating a Keynote presentation to put up on iWeb for a state presentation. Although I was able to put a very clumsy version using QT, it's very unfriendly - no music, no controls. So I tried to export it as HTML. No can do uploading html to iWeb. So, I took those individual jpg files in iPhoto and made a slideshow with music. Cool! But again, there is absolutely no interface between iPhoto slideshows and iWeb. The support directions for Share: Mac Slides are great until you look for a Step 5: Connecting your slideshow to iWeb or even .Mac. Photocasting doesn't even allow people to go from one picture to the next with out clicking in and out of pictures (Click to view. Click to close pic. Mouse down to next pic. Click to open the next pic Click to close. Mouse click down ... AND there's no music that goes with . I'm thinking I could make an iMovie, but I am so afraid THAT won't upload either. I thought there was this elegant interface between iWork & iLife. Boy, am I WRONG! It looks sexy, but it turns out to be crack junkie. I've been up all night and all day now going from one dead end to another. IF anyone CAN HELP, PLEASE RESPOND. I think I'm going to try taking it into iMovie and then hopefully put that on iWeb. SAVE ME!

  • Creating DVD from iPhoto Slideshow with music

I'm trying to create a DVD of a slideshow with music that was created previously in iPhoto and then "Shared with iDVD". The .m4v file located in Pictures> iPhoto Slideshows is not accessible in iDVD. The only way I can make it work is to spend the hour or so required to start from scratch by clicking "Share with iDVD" from an open iPhoto slideshow, thus creating a .m4v file and then going directly to the iDVD menu that's automatically opened at the end of the "Share with iDVD" process. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forums.
When I'm going from iPhoto to iDVD with a slideshow, I get good results by Exporting from iPhoto to a large-sized Quicktime movie. I can preview the video and music, and if I'm happy, I can then just drop the Quicktime file onto the iDVD menu area (not into a drop zone, that's just eye candy). It's been a reliable process for me.

  • Slideshow with music keeps stalling

My Aperture slideshow with music keeps stalling in various places.

    G'day RittDog
It's relatively easy if you're prepared to spend the time doing it.
    • First, forget about the slideshow option. Instead, open up an iMovie project and import your slides into it (ensure you're first set to NTSC for the US of A). Use the Ken Burns effect if you want. Also, add transitions between slides. Unlike the slideshow, you can use different transitions for each slide if your tastes run to it. Don't forget to set the required time for each slide.
    • Add your music track(s)
    • Now, using something like Audacity (it's free), record your voice over tracks (one per slide) for each slide (you do have a microphone/iSight don't you?). Set Audacity to 48,000 Hz by the way. Trim the tracks, or select the appropriate part. Export the trimmed tracks or the selection as AIFF files to a folder.
    • Import the AIFF files into itunes, and use from there, or open the AIFF folder into the media/audio window, or simply drag & drop them. Place them into the middle track in iMovie. Arrange each voiceover to it's appropriate slide.
    • Dampen the music during each voiceover, or for the whole show.
    • Export to iDVD, burn as disk image.
    • If you really, really want to have the voiceovers as a choice, export a Quicktime movie WITHOUT the voiceovers (untick them via the box alongside the right of the track), and then export again WITH the voiceovers (different name of course). Import the two movies into a suitable iDVD menu, with a button for each.

Hi, I created exported a quicktime slideshow with music from iPhoto and imported it into iDVD. What would be a way to add the option to the dvd to listen to audio commentary about the slideshow. • IPhoto Slideshow with Music to MobileMe

Is it possible to upload a slideshow with music background to MobileMe, so that the music selected in for the slideshow also plays in MobileMe?

You need to export the slideshow as a QuickTime movie and then upload that to MobileMe. And you need the permissions from the copyright owners for the music, of course.

  • What slideshow with music maker program will run on Mac Powerbook G4?

What slideshow with music maker program will install and run on my Mac Powerbook G4 1.5.8 1.33 GHz OSX  laptop? Or are there any out there, I know my system is old but it's all I got for now.

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

All above suggestions will work on a PPC Mac running Leopard.
