Smart List Question

Is there a way to automatically create a smart list for all artists without doing it manually?

Do you mean automatically create a separate playlist for each artist in your library. I don't think so.
This is surely better dealt with by sorting on the appropriate column in the library and using the browse window. (ctrl B if you don't see it).
Robert Jacobson has a script to create a playlist for each album (itunesalbumplaylists), that could presumably be modified to do it by artist if you are into programming.

Can somebody confirm if we can load data from a source file which has the smart lists labels, instead of the smart list values id (ex: YES instead of 1)? i suppose Planning will do the conversion when loading to essbase

This is what I was looking for.
Another question, in outline load we have the chance of putting driver members in the source file which makes the process more flexible. Think if our driver members (Accounts) change dynamically.
Wuold it be any customization possible to add the same functionality to the ODI Planning KM?
We are not likely to use Essbase KM and joins with Plannign repository tables as our source data has dates, free text, figures,smarlists accounts, etc.

Urgent: Problem opening a data form that uses a smart list

Hi, we've got a problem with a data form that is quite unusual.
The data form was working perfectly until yesterday when we put a smart list in it. The smart list is composed of 8 possible choices activated by the following member formula:

Initially we tested the functioning of every different choice in the smart list and it was working properly. After a while we tried again to change the choices combination and we couldn't open the data form due to an error.
It is quite strange because sometimes it work and sometimes it doesn't. In the data form (that is very large) there are many accounts and scenarios that are dynamic calc, in addition to the smart list formula; we tried to open the form two minutes ago converting the data storage type of a scenario from "Dynamic calc" into "Dynamic calc and Store", and it seems to work at the moment... does planning have a memory limit? Can someone suggest a solution (or help us find out the reason)?

Web form doesn't allow text entries and showing smart lists

Hi,
I am using Hyp 11.1.2 and facing 2 issues with webforms .
One of them is a cell under Account dimension should accept Text Value , which is allowing numeric only. I am able to enter text but not getting saved , showing an error msg that invalid entry..etc. Also I found everymember in outline is numeric. Even if I refreshed the Text type member with data type Text , it is still showing numeric in Outline.
Second one is even If defined a smart list on another member under Account, the cell is not showing it.
Is it relevant setting Evaluation Order or any thing else?

Checking the Essbase outline is not an option because the text information is all stored in the planning relational repository (table HSP_TEXT_CELL_VALUE) and the numerical value associated with it is stored in essbase.

Podcast smart list doesn't work anymore

For some reason with the recent updates of itunes, the podcasts aren't flowing into the podcast my podcast smart list. In order to get them to go in, I have to keep re-labeling the genre field in the itunes podcast folder.
They also stopped auto deleting too....ugh what a pain
Any clue?

I've since learned that I can use Ctrl+' and Ctrl+Shift+' (Mac) for the cheapo feet and inches marks. Thanks for the info about prime marks though, I didn't know about them – that they are the "real" feet and inches marks. I also didn't know that Smart Quotes would convert quotes during copy and paste.
I must say that I couldn't find prime marks in the Glyphs palette (which would really benefit from a search tool), at least not for the Myriad Pro font. Still, I will keep it in mind for any "important" applications of the feet and inches marks in future. Most of the time I just want them quickly for unimportant uses, at which time I'll just use Ctrl+'. I guess I'm obsessive enough to avoid quotation marks when I mean feet and inches, but not obsessive enough to dig through the Glyphs palette.
By the way, I scanned through Snow Leopard's keyboard shortcuts preferences and couldn't find a conflicting Cmd+Opt+Shift+' command. It doesn't matter to me anymore though.

Hyperion Workforce Smart list not working correctly

We are customizing the Employee Type Smart list and added few more enties to it. But in the Web form when tried to select an entry its is showing the Label values and not the Name for newly added entries but the original options are working correctly. e.g.
Name Value
Regular LABEL_REGULAR
Contractor LABEL_CONTRACTOR
Temporary LABEL_TEMPORARY
Board LABEL_BOARD
EBA LABEL_EBA..
now in the form drop down I get values as below,
Regular
Contractor
Temporary
LABEL_BOARD
LABEL_EBA
Not sure why its working wierd for new entries. Version is 11.2.2

Create/Edit Smart Lists using DIM

Hi!
Is it possible to create or edit a smart list for a classic Planning 9.3.1 app using DIM?
I already have a smart list in planning 9.3.1 which has a couple of entries (drop down members) but when I try to use DIM to add more smart list entries, I cannot even see the smart list listed as a dimension in DIM. i.e. when I import a Hyperion Planning Adapter and connect to a Planning application, all the dimensions show up in the target list but none of the smart lists show up. Is there another setting that I have to change for the classic world?
In BMPA this would be a smart list dimension but what about a classic application?
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Smart List issue ; Classic Hyperion Planning v11.1.2.1

All,
I am currently working on classic planning v11.1.2.1 (don't ask why).
We have created a couple of smart lists, which we're using with a level 0 member.
THe smart lists do not appear on the cells in the forms.
I encountered similar issues with another planning applications metadata managed using EPMA.
I tweaked the evaluation order of the dimensions, and refreshed the app, after which the Smart list started working.
But when I did the same with this cube, it does not work, there are 3 planning cubes and I changed the evaluation order on one of the cubes to which the form is connecting to.
The properties of the member are as below:
Data Storage : Never Share
Plan Type : Capital (+)
Data Type : SmartList
We are not using any of the pre-built Planning modules.
Can anyone tell me what the issue may be?

This problem is linked to you not having a consistent setting for your date input type.
So, go to application administration and set the date format to MM/DD/YYYY in application settings and display options, under current application defaults. Then after you have done this as a user go to User Preferences and display options and on the date format select the same. Or remove the Automatically detect.
I have seen this behaviour if you have Automatically Detect on the user preferences

Smart List Data not getting copied

Hi,
I am working on workforce model. I am trying to copy data from new employee (example: TBH1) to another employee XYZ (TBH1 & XYZ are in employee dimension).
The intersection where I am entering data for TBH1 is:
Account -> New Hires
Currecny -> Local
Version -> Bottomup
Entity -> Entity1
Employee -> TBH1
Scenario -> Actual
Year -> FY09
Nationality -> Grades (Smart List), US
Positions -> Manager
Period->Q1
Problem: When I am entering data in a form it is accepting Grades, US, Non-US (example: Grades->15, US->1). But when I am copying data from TBH1 to XYZ employee it copies US data which is 1 but it is not copying Grades which is 15.
Calc Script to copy data:
FIX ([Scenario], [Version], [CostCenter])
DATACOPY [SrcEmp] TO [DestEmp];
ENDFIX
ScrEmp & DestEmp are 2 run time prompts whose values will be SrcEmp -> TBH1 & DestEmp -> XYZ
My data evaluation order is:
1. Accounts
2. Nationality
3. Employee
Please help.........

Enable Smart Lists

Hi,
the HP 9.3.1 documentation show this option:
• Display missing values as blank-Leave data form cells empty where data does not exist. If this option is not selected, empty cells display the text "#missing."
• Enable account annotations -Enable users to add annotations of up to 1500 characters to accounts during data entry (displays if the data form meets the criteria listed above for enabling account level annotations).
• Allow multiple currencies per entity-If the application supports multiple currencies, this option allows entities to support multiple currencies, regardless of their base currency. Users can select the currency for displayed cell values in a data form on the fly.
• Enable Smart Lists-Enable Smart Lists to display on the data form
But I can't find the last one in our form.
Where I can set this option???

Setting Display Options for Data Forms
Use the Other Options tab to set options for the data form display, functionality, and printing.
You can control the precision of data by applying minimum and maximum values for different
account types. For example, you can truncate and round the decimal portion of longer numbers.
You can also enable Smart Lists and account-level annotations. Users can add annotations to
accounts in data forms if they have write access to the account, entity, scenario, and version
members. Account level annotations can vary by different combinations of Scenario, Version,
and Entity dimensions.

Contacts smart list don't work

Creating smart list doesn't to appear to work properly if at all.
Using Notes containing "XZY" doesn't pull all the contacts/companies that contain XZY...creating only a partial list.
Please advise.

Apparently smart list names work, but they do not show the expanded list of names to the sender. However, the recipeints do see the expanded list of names. If you Control+Click on the Smart list name in Contacts and select send email from the context menu, the sender does see the expanded list of names. This looks like an "oops" to me. I suggest you report it to Apple here.

Mail smart list with filter last week does not work

I created a smart list in mail to show all emails of last week. It shows the emails of this week. In ML it used to work. any idea?

ADF SelectOneChoice List Question

I am new to Toplink Essentials. I am using Toplink Essentials inside of JDeveloper 11g, against Oracle Express and ADF/Trinidad and have used JDeveloper's "Entities from Tables" wizard to reverse engineer my database into Toplink pojo objects. After this I used JDeveloper's wizard to create a JavaServiceFacade and then generate a Data Control.
After expanding the DataControl (which is mapped to the JavaServiceFacade) I have a method queryEntityFindAll(). Under this method I have serval attributes and then a list which represents a "many-side" of this entitie's relationship with another entity. How do I create a selectOneChoice using this list?
I've tried expanding queryEntityFindAll() and then dragging the list to a jspx page, setting the Base Data Source to "JavaServiceFacade.queryEntityFindAll.listName and then setting the List Data Source to "ListName : JavaServiceFacade.queryRelatedEntityFindAll". However, when I run the page the only thing that appears on the page is the selectOneChoice label... no drop down component appears on the page... no errors are generated to give any clue as to what my problem may be...
Although I'm working in JDeveloper, I really believe this is a Toplink Essentials question...

Using the department / employee example... I'm trying to create a form that allows a user to create a new department. I have dragged the "Department" object (located under queryDepartmentFindAll()) over to my jspx form. A form with corresponding fields is created.
I notice that no field was created for employeeId. I expand the "Department" object (again, under queryDepartmentFindAll()) and observe that "Employee" is present, as a list (expanding Employee provides access to employee object attributes along with another list entitled departmentList).
I know that it's unlikely that only one employee would be selected in the creation of a department... but I'm sticking to the example...
So, I drag the "Employee" (again, under queryDepartmentFindAll()) object over to the newly created form and from the pop-up menu I choose selectOneChoice as the desired component. I run the jspx page, Internet Explorer 7 browser pops up and all labels display on the page, all fields but no selectOneChoice component appears on the screen... the space is there for it but it appears to be invisible. I have checked the Employee table and there is data to be displayed... it's just that I must be missing something...
