Smartform - Printing differently on different printers

Hi Guru's,
I've a problem in printing the smartform to 2 different printers.
1. LOCL - we don't have any problems in printing to the Local Printer.
2.HP Printer (HIITPRT21) - when we print the document using this printer , Header is printing in one page and the Remaining contents (Main Window) is printing in different pages.
I don't think there is a problem with the smartform, because it should print the same way on LOCL as HP Printer Does.
Could you please let me know where the problem is and how to resolve it???
http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=190743231
The above blog is talking about the problems, it is mentioning about the problems with the print controls..how to know which one is causing the problems??
Thanks,
Adi.

  • Smartform printing on different printers

    Dear Experts,
    We have a PO form which is supposed to be printed on different printers across NA, Europe and Asia locations. The printer types are different with different device types too. While printing on these forms, the border in main window and footer is not visible in some of the printers. We have resolved this problem by doing adjustment in margin in SPAD. But users do not want this solution as this may require to change many printers in SPAD. They use these printers for other SAP document printing too, hence they are reluctant with this idea.
    Do we have any standard solution?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the information.
    But we have to change the device type for each printer. They are already using these old device types since long.
    Even with SAPWIN, we have to change vertical and horizontal shift in SPAD transaction.
    Do we have any other solution?

  • Smartform output in two different printers

    Hi Experts,
    I want to take the Smartform output in two different printers. printers has been added in the table <b>pkhd</b> .
    please anyone suggest how to pass these two in the smartform function module?
    Thanks in Advance
    Kavya Deva

    Hi Kavya,
      You can execute the Smart form Function Module. It will then pop-up a dialog box asking for an output device. There you can specify the Output device type and go for Print or Print Preview as necessary.

  • Position sensitive output prints differently on different printers

    Post Author: dev elopment
    CA Forum: .NET
    .NET 2003
    I am trying to print some text on an Avery 5260  (3 labels wide by 10 labels tall sheet).  I have positioned 3 text fields in the report Details section (for a row of labels) so that they print perfectly on my HP LaserJet 1100 and then set the height of the Details section so that all 10 labels high print correctly as well.  However when the same report is generated and printed on another printer (tried 4 different ones so far) the output no longer stays in the proper position.  Some printers only print 9 rows per page and the 10th row ends up on the next page.  Other printers start printing over the label edges after the 1st 3 rows of labels.
    Is there a way to make the position of the output stay the same based on the design of the report for all printers?

    CA Forum: .NET
    This is expected behavior with Crystal Reports because the position of all objects is determined from the printer drivers. Your best bet is to go into the printer options and select the "No Printer" checkbox. This will for the print engine to use a generic print driver and it should produce consistent results.

  • Printing units with different decimals separator "in column"/ smartforms

    Hi.
    I want to print in SMARTFROMS different amounts under each other and the amounts are having different decimals places (depending on unit) - the printing should be, that the decimal separator is "in a column" and the units are in a "column"
    E.g.
    123,23 meters
    10,00   meters
    12,567 kg
    67 PCE
    should be printed as:
    123,23__meters
    10,00_meters
    12,567kg
    67____PCE
    How can I do this?
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi,
    Use a paragraph with tabstops. Define your tabs with align with decimal character.
    That defining can be done in smartstyles.  (tabstops are not alone in sapscript but also in smartforms)

  • Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.

    Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.
    I'm NOT in any way a Terminal Services expert and I need help trying to get an application program working in a multi-user environment.
    The issue is that the printer changes for every user that is logged in. The application needs to print NOT to the default printer, but to a "special" printer which is selected in the application... let's call it a label printer to simplify the explanation.
    You have your default regular printer, easy for the application to find that one, and then you have a special printer that labels get printed onto. The application needs to know what printer is the label printer. So we allow the user to select that in the
    application and the selection is stored in a config file in
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    I don't have access to the application so I can't change how this works.
    In the "regular" world, selecting the label printer driver to use should be per machine, NOT per user. When a new user logs into a machine, the physical printer doesn't go "poof" and a new printer suddenly appear. Same printer for all
    users.
    Yet in terminal services, the physical machine is "merged" with the virtual machine on the server. And there can be many users logged in at the same time. So each users real machine (and real printer) is injected into the "fake" terminal
    services machine. The name of the printers is made unique for each user. So the printers DO go "poof" and change names depending on the user logged into terminal services.
    So user "A" logs in and sets up the application to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" (or whatever the name of the printer happens to be), that setting is stored in the ProgramData subfolder, and all is well. Later, user "B" logs
    in, and when they print, the application tries to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" which doesn't exist for user B or is only accessible by user A. If user B re-configures, that breaks it for user A.
    SOLUTION 1: The way that /should/ work (in my mind) is that you define one "generic" printer in Terminal Services... call it "Virtual Label printer" and when the user wants to print to it, the print job gets re-directed back to whatever
    physical printer is actually connected to their local workstation. There is a map of virtual printer to actual printer depending on the current user. The application is told once to print to "Virtual Label Printer" for all users.
    SOLUTION 2: Or... there should be some way to make the ProgramData sub folders separate per user. E.g. when user "A" tries to access:
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    they actually get
    C:\UserData\UserA\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    and user "B" gets
    C:\UserData\UserB\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    So the question I have is: Does either of those solutions exist hidden somewhere in the setup of terminal server? Or is there another way around this issue that I don't know?

    I don't really have a "for sure" answer to this, but because people here can't seem to deal with a question that hasn't been answered I'll provide the best answer I did receive from ServerFault.com user Nathan:
    I can feel your pain with using old software on terminal servers ...the solution I've come up with definitely won't scale as it requires some manual configuration, but I've gotten this method to work with our label printers (which require to be
    printed to an LPT port...yep, that old).
    Share your USB-connected printers to the network on each machine. Then, have the user log in on aunique session for each of them
    (a TS account cannot be shared among computers for this to work) and install a network printer pointing to the USB one they shared. Try to use a DNS name to account for possible DHCP movements.
    After, it should work. Each user can do this since display names can be identical as long as the ports are different (which they are).
    This was clarified by the following series of comments:
    I think you are on to something here, and I originally advised the admin to do this. The problem he ran into is that it setup the printer names in the TS as "printer on usersworkstation"
    and he could not rename it except to change the "printer" to whatever. E.g. the "on userworkstation" remained. I believe there is another way of installing the printer which avoids this, but I can't find it. Ages ago, one used to do NET

    @JamesNewton That's actually the exact method we used. The way around the "network printer" part is to install it as local printer and map it to a TCP/IP port that way. –  Nathan

    You mean in the case where the printers are TCP/IP connected and not local USB / LPT to the users workstation? That makes sense. Wonder if this will work for USB connected printers... –  James

    @JamesNewton You'd share the local printer on the client's PC then on the server connect via TCP/IP to it. You'd need static addresses or use DNS names if DHCP, though. –  Nathan

    Ah. Yes. I see. Looks like the LPT thing should work even with a USB connected printer:superuser.com/questions/182655/… –  James

  • Group differs on "Library/Printers/InstalledPrinters.plist"; should be 80; group is 0.

    When running disk utility, repair permissions, this error message keeps coming up. I have had to repair permissions more than once for this. Why would my printer group change if I am not changing it? What is group 80 versus group 0?
    Group differs on “Library/Printers/InstalledPrinters.plist”; should be 80; group is 0.
    iMac mid-2011, Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 with latest updates

    Yes, I keep getting the same thing, on Yosemite 10.10.1 , and it seems to happen multiple times, per up-time session .
    Apparently, the group-id-number that is equivalent to "80" is actually named "admin", and the group-id-number that is equivalent to "0" is actually named "wheel", which is the super-user alter-ego of the user-id-number "0" ("root") .
    This recurring "permissions" warning, and repair, isn't listed in Apple's "Disk Utility Permissions that you can Safely Ignore" (with an article modification-date of NOV 19, 2014):

  • Adding Print Button With Java Script to Print of Different Pages Differently

    Hi,
    I am in the process of making a form and most of it is done and now I want to be able to print off two of the pages but to different printers, I have one that needs to be printed off on a regular A4 printer and another that needs to go to a label printer. I have both of the names for the printers and I have tried something but it just doesnt do anything at all (this is suggested by adobe I think?)
    var pp = this.getPRintParam();
    var printamount = this.getValue("Quantity_Boxes");
    pp.printerName = "Zebra Technologies ZTC GK420t";
    pp.firstPage = 3;
    pp.lastPage = 3;
    pp.NumCopies = 2*printamount;
    this.print();
    I tried it without the first and last page and nothing happens, I am useing a shared printer which works when I do cmd + P which the full printer name is Zebra Technologies ZTC GK420t @ User's iMac. (I have also tried putting the full name in aswell)
    This is just to test one page so far but is there any way that one button will be able to print off 2 different pages to 2 different printers?
    If someone knows how this would be a great help!
    Thanks,
    Bruce

    Thanks for that, I have it working now but it shows the dialog box with no settings changed should i use:
    pp.interactive = pp.constants.interactionLevel.automatic ?
    Thanks,
    Bruce
    EDIT:
    It printed but only the first page but it printed on the right amount quantity was 2*3 wich was the result of the Quantity_Box value
    I want it to print page 3 through the Zebra Printer and have page 2 printed to a different printer, is this possible through one button?

  • I installed Reader (in English) and it prints in a different language

    I installed Reader [01/03/2010,in English] and it prints in a different language/garble.
    I received a hospital appointment email with an attachment confirming my next day's appointment.
    The attachment confirms place and time with a barcode to be scanned upon arrival at the hospital's kiosk.
    So far all is good but, when I print the attachment it looks similar in format but is garbled.
    It does not appear to be a translation to a foreign language but rather a series of random letters and symbols.
    Examples:
    Time:      prints out as; Ujn f ;       Provider:prints out as: Qspwjef s ; Location: prints out as: Mpdbyjo
    09:00AM   "     "   ;    1: ; 11BN      Not only are the letters garbled but they are merged
    I don't know what's wrong or how to fix it. My question is "What I Gotta Do?" HELP!

    It "could" have something to do with improper embedding of the fonts used in the document. Reader is substituting for a different font which as you can see, rarely works.
    One thing you can try is in the print menu find the option to "print as image" and see if that works.
    If it doesn't, there isn't really anything you can do except to contact the folks that made the PDF and request that they embed all fonts.

  • Barcode(Smartform)Printing through Intermec Printers

    Hello All,
    Is it possible to print Barcodes through Intermec Printers, I am using smartforms for the layout development.Pleaswe guide me with the procedure.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vanita M.

    In SE73 create a barcode of new technology. After this go to TA: smartstyles and create a characterformat with your created barcode inside. Then enter your smartform and add the style to it. Now if you create a textnode you can assign the character format "barcode" to your text or number. In preview and printout the barcode should be shown. In smartform you will only see the numbers or characters.

    Hi,
    Create a two lines one for header and second for data in the table.
    1)In table painter we can find the pencil mark.
    2)select the pencil mark
    3)now select the line which you need to shade
    4) now select the shading colour in the table painter and the provide the resolution up to 100% and select table pattrn for that line.
    5) Now you can use this for the header now only the header gets shaded and the remaining gets unshaded.
    reward points if useful
