Smartforms Printing not coming properly in dot matrix printer

Hi Gurus,
We have implemented invoice printout using smartforms and required to use the dot matrix printer for printing.
We are now facing the problem on the printout from dot matrix is different from the preview we get in the system. But the printout from Laser Jet is coming out correctly for the same smartforms.
We are using EPSON DLQ3000 and we configure the output device using EPESCP2 as the Device Type. The problem is font size of the print out is all printed as courier size 12, but there are different font sizes in the smartforms.
But when we use local printing (using SAPLPD), there is no problem, all different font size is printed.
If we using to same output device to print some sapscript, everything is working well. Font size will print accordingly to the preview of the sapscript.
Do you have any idea of the problem that we have. Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Lee Shi

Dear Lee,
Ideally the printout should come as it is shown in the preview.I remember once it had happened with me too.But in my case there is no problem with the settings at SAP level. When we checked we found the problem is with the printer cartridge.
We co-ordinated with the system administrator and n/w guys. They in turn change the cartridge and issue was fixed.
PS:In my case all SAP printout were coming properly except the smartforms.

Ashutosh

    Hi Experts,
I have one smartform layout for Good receipt note, have used the Logo and Frames .when i am printing in the Laser printer.everything is k.when i am printing in Dot matrix Printer(OKI Microline 380 24pin printer).the Logo and Frames are missing, but I could able to see the Print Priview Properly.
Could you give any urgent solution.it is very urgent.
    Thanks in advance.

I agree with you that printing of Logo & Framesare not very supportive in Dot Matrix Printer.
You can ask the Basis consultant to check & change the printer setting & may be it may work, as you have already mentioned that it is OK in Laser Printer. The Dot Matrix printer is currently unable to read the Logo & frame for printing.

  • Problems to print from Flex to a dot matrix printer

I'm having problems when a try to print from Flex in a dot
matrix printer. With ink jet printer there's no problem-
the problem is that it shrinks the printing, and adds a
column of dots at the end. I mean it splits the page in 2, first
the shrinked data, and on the other side, a column of dots, i don't
know if this is a problem between Flex and dot matrix
    printers.

Your printer does not appear to be AirPrint capable so you may need to use a software print server that runs on your PC or Mac like http://www.ecamm.com/mac/printopia/.

Existe t'il quelqu'un qui l'a déja essayer et avec quelle marque d'imprimante.

  • Print in Character Mode on Dot Matrix Printer

    Dear All,
When we print any reports from SAP to Dox Matrix printers it comes in graphic mode. So it will take too much time to print and  print is also not readable.
Same I want to print in Character mode (Simole reports where graphics are not involved e.g. Financial Ledger, Cash Voucher etc.).
Whether it's required to setup at printer level or at SAP.
    Thanks

    Hello,
I think this required to setup at printer level.

  • Printing in Dot Matrix Printer

    Hi to all,
As we know that the dos matrix printer supports dos prompt and thus printing speed and
life of the printing head is comparatively more than what we print the same in graphical format.
So when I tried to print from SAP Bone in dot matrix printer, the printing speed is very slow and quality of printout is not good enough.
Any clarifications on this regard would prove very helpful to me.

Do you use one of this printer types:
Dot Matrix, Printer, Needle Printer, Citizen ProDot 300 , Oki Microline
    , Epson FX880, Epson FX890 ?
Here the stepwise I have tried :
In order to print using Dot Matrix printers, follow the below
    instructions:
       1. Run SAP Business One.
       2. Click the upper menu 'File' and select 'Page Setup'.
       3. The Print Setup window opens. Under 'Paper', in the field 'Size', select 'Letter' from the drop down menu.
       4. Click OK to confirm your selection.
       5. On your desktop, click Start => Settings => Printers.
       6. Right click on the required Dot Matrix printer and select 'Printing Preferences...'.
       7. Click the 'Paper/Quality' tab page and click the 'Advanced' pushbutton.
       8. Under'Paper/Output'=> 'Paper Size', click on the underlined paper size(e.g. A4) and select 'Letter' from the drop down menu.
Note that if you leave the value 'A4', each page will be spreaded over 2 pages when printing using Dot Matrix printers.
       1. Under 'Graphic'=> 'Print Quality', click on the underlined value (e.g. 230X250 dots per inch) and select '120X144 dots per inch' from thedrop down menu.
Note that in case the value '120X144' is not available you should select a similar value from the list.
After you do the stepwise, I am sure there will no problem any more. The slowly printing mostly caused by printer type and your hardware specifications for example your LAN, etc..
    good luck...

  • Adobe print form on dot matrix printer

Has anyone tried to print adobe forms into a dot matrix printer i.e. printing multi-part documents. I've read that the device type supported are PostScript, PCL, PDF and ZPL. The help file specifically mentioned that SAPWIN device type won't be supported, but it does not mentioned explecitly weather ASCII device type or device type for dot matrix/impact printer is supported or not.
I'm still holding up hope that adobe print forms scenario will be able to do this since we are planning to go ahead with 100% adobe form solution.
    Any info would greatly appreciated.

The supported output formats of ADS are PostScript, PCL, PDF and ZPL. That means that your printer has to support one of the mentioned formats to be supported. So the answer to your question is no.

  • Help needed on Dot Matrix Printer Settings

    Hi all,
We have a requirement to print some documents on a dot matrix printer.
I have created a device choosing SWIN as the device type & also assigned my Z page formats to this device type.
But printing with this device type takes a long time. So, to reduce the time, if I choose any one among  EPESCP/EPESCP2/EPESCP9/EPLQ550 etc as my device types, the printing gets fast, but the quality of the output is very bad ( its getting printed with a single font though I change the font & its size). Moreover the lines are not getting printed at the desired place on the page.
We are using a printer(TVS) which is Epson 24 Pin compatible.
Kindly help us if someone has any idea on this kind of printer settings.
    Thanks & regards,
    JITHENDRA

    Try OKI341 instead of SWIN.
It seems a bit more forgiving.

  • Removing Currency Symbol in PLD & Dot Matrix printer issue

    Hi All
I need to know if its possible to remove the currency sysmbol on your print out. I'm printing on a pre-printed stationery and the currency symbol makes the lines to overlap.
Aonther question is , which font format can you select to for printing when you are using dot matrix printer (OKI Microline 3321 9 Pin Printer)
When its printing it's printing in bold and on the invoice after the second one , it looses the margin setting and prints on the wrong fields.
    Thanks.
    Bongani
    ( South Africa)

I tested the Amount function and it works perfectly for your need.
Add a formula field and in the Content Tab insert the Formula as
    Amount(Field_198)
Here the Field_198 is shown as an example but you will enter the Field number of the amount field which currectly shows with the currency in your PLD.
For each such amount field you will need a Formula field to remove the currency symbol.

  • Portrait on 14" width by 11" length continuous feed paper for Dot Matrix printer.

    Hello,
I am trying to set the properties of a Report Builder 3.0 form for Portrait orientation with 14" width by 11" length continuous form.  The report will print on a high speed dot matrix printer.  My problem is when I change the report property
to 14" width by 11" length, Report Builder 3.0 automatically changes the Orientation to Landscape!  I want it Portrait on 14"x11" paper!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi CRC111,
According to your description, when printing reports in dot matrix printer, it can't keep the Portrait in report property. Right?
In Reporting Services, it supports printing in a dot matrix printer. However, the dot matrix print is quite different from regular printers. It has reported it can't accept the page layout(landscape and Portrait). In this scenario, we suggest you export
the report into PDF/TIFF, then print it in dot matrix printer. Please refer to the links below:
SSRS Printing to Dot matrix printer
Reporting by using Dot Matrix Printer
report properties for dotmatrix report in SSRS
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
