Smartview 11.1.2.1.0/Excel 2010

I am using Smartview version 11.1.2.1.0 and am having issues trying to access Essbase in Excel 2010. If I try to access member selections from my Smartview menu Excel 2010 just freezes. If I try to just type in the member selections and refresh I will get #NoAccess for my results but I am connected if I look at the sheet information.
Thanks for any help you can offer

Thanks for the information, but one last question. Where could I find more information about this Unpublished Bug 9955285?, I am trying to look for more information about if it's going to be fix in any patch but I don't find anything
Thanks a lot

  • SmartView 11.1.2.1 - Functionality - Excel 2010

    Hi,
Have users experiencing the following issues:
1 - In their template they have formatting on text (bold, colors) and columns (widths). When they refresh they lose all of that. I indicated they should check the 'Use Excel Formatting' on the SmartView options. However that doesn't seem to be working fully. The text format holds, but the column widths etc don't. Also, if they save the file and re-open it, they lose the setting. Is there a fix for this?
2 - If they have Three members in a row and both members are rollups. If they drill on one member, it automatically drills on both members. They need the ability to only drill on what member they choose to drill on. They are in ad hoc mode. For example if their Row is:
    Q1
    Q2
    Q3
And they drill on Q2 only. They want the result:
    Q1
    Mar
    Apr
    May
    Q2
    Q3
    Is that possible?

    Nevermind

  • SmartView 11.1.2.2.000 - SmartView tab disappears from Excel 2010

We are using SmartView 11.2.2.2.000 with Excel 2010.  The SmartView tab frequently disappears from the Excel menu, especially for one particular user.  Each time I walk him thru re-enabling it.  This user's files are usually multiple sheets.  Anyone know why this keeps happening and is there a permanent way to fix it?
    Thanks.

  • Smartview 11.1.2 "Hyperion" tab disappeared from his Excel 2010.

My user's Smartview 11.1.2 "Hyperion" tab disappeared from his Excel 2010. Trust Center shows that Add-In's are not disabled. We reinstalled and installed SV but nothing worked. What can we run to register SV to his Excel 2007? His Excel 2010 does have Smartview Add-in for HsTbar, Hsaddin.dll

Please note that the 'solution' of copying files to the Addins folder is NOT recommended. You will probably cause more issues or store up problems for the future, such as when you upgrade the SmartView client. Believe me -- we get a lot of calls into Support caused by people doing this. It can cause:
    - loss of functionality owing to mixed file versions
    - the full path to HsTBar.xla to appear in front of SmartView functions
    - DLL hell when it comes to upgrading.
Please check your system for duplicate copies of HsTBar.xla and HsAddin.dll and remove all but the ones in the correct SmartView installation folder. Also delete any duplicates of the other SmartView DLLs. Then re-register the DLLs in the SmartView\bin folder according to Jasmine's instructions. Note that you must be logged into your PC as a Power User or Administrator to do this. You should get a 'success' message for each DLL you register. Alternatively, uninstall SmartView, search for any remaining SmartView files (HsTBar.xla, HsAddin.dll) anywhere on the hard drive and delete them, then re-install.
If you still get problems, log a support call.

  • MS Excel 2010 takes long to open with Hyperion Smartview 11

    Hi,
the MS Excel 2010 takes about 20 sec to open a blank sheet when is with a user without Internet access. It is automatically open with Internet access. This behaviour started after the installation of Hyperion Smartview.
    Can you help?
    Ant K.

I've never worked with Hyperion Smart view.
But it sounds like the program configured to access the internet and perform an operation, such as check for updates for that program. Since we know this issue may caused by the Hyperion Smart view. If it is an add-in for office, we can try
to disable it to check if excel can open blank worksheet normally, meanwhile, if you want to use this tool, you can enable it. File->options->add-in

  • Hide SmartView POV on Excel 2010

Is there a solution for hiding the POV in Excel 2010 or 2007?
In Excel 2003 you could use
    CommanBars("POV Sheet1_1").visible=false
but in 2007 or 2010 it doesn't work. Something else?

Thanks a lot. But however is strange than if you list the CommandBar objects names, you'll find also the POVs ones!
The only solution is to move to the latest version of smartview.
    Thanks

  • Excel 2010 locks up when using Smartview to run Business Rule

I've been testing Smart View 9.3..3 with Excel 2010.
If (from within Smart View) I navigate to Hyperion>Calculation Options>Business Rules, Excel locks up and only an 'End Process' will close it down.
As a workaround the Rule that the user needs to run has been attached to a Form & this works correctly, wondered if anyone else had seen this ?
    Thanks

    re:  more excel crashing
Well you asked about other ideas so...
    1. Turn off Auto-Save
    2. Turn off file-sharing
    3. Locate the XLSTART directory, move everything there someplace else.
    4. You disabled all add-ins, but does that include Com add-ins and the other flavors.
    5. Does the user have an anti-virus app installed - disable it.

  • 64-bit Smart View + Excel 2010 64-bit Issues - Help Please

    Hello everyone.
First, I am not an "IT guy" so please bare with me as I am not technical but need help.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit Professional and Excel 2010 64-bit. I installed Oracle Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition 64-bit as an add-in within Excel.
I have worked with our "Hyperion Admins" to connect to the right server so that my "private connections" are set correctly (hopefully that makes sense).
However, when I attempt to refresh my Smart View query I end-up retrieving no data. The "refresh" button under "Smart View" in Excel will proceed as a refresh is occurring but then not return data (I know this Smart View template works as I've used it many times on 32-bit Excel).
Our admins have informed me that I cannot use 64-bit Smart View because our "server" is on a 32-bit O/S (or something similar to that). To me, the logic doesn't make sense and I'm hoping that there is a solution the admins are not aware of.
Happy to answer any questions and appreciate any help.

Hi gurus,I'm working on Hyperion v 11.1.1.3, i want to use excel 2010 as a client for this version.I want to know that is excel 2010 compatible for V11.1.1.3?
1)If not then how to upgrade to excel 2010 for this version and what all precautions/procedures needs to be followed during up-gradation to avoid the issues if any?
2)what excel version that Oracle recommends for v11.1.1.3 and the patches to apply if want to upgrade?
3)How do we find the add-in/smart-view client version on the essbase server(path to folder/directory on the sever)?
4)Is it possible to apply the patch-if we want to upgrade from excel old version to higher version, on user machine instead of applying the patch on server itself?

  • Excel 2010 missing default suggested file name in Save As dialog box

I’m using Excel 2010 running on Windows 7 (32 bit).  When I open a certain file which produces the following message: "A file is in a different file format than its extension indicates", and then go to “Save As” (or “Save”) the
file, the default suggested file name is missing (blank).  This didn't occur in previous versions of Excel.
In previous versions, Excel would automatically populate the original file name in to the File Name field.
I have searched all over the net, looking for a way to change Excel so that it will once again populate the file name in this situation.
    To reproduce:
    Create a new blank workbook
save as type “Web Page”, (i.e. File name:  “Blank Example.html”)
    Close workbook
In windows, rename file from .html to .xls  (i.e. rename “Blank Example.html” to “Blank Example.xls”)
In Excel open renamed file (i.e. “Blank Example.xls”) and click “Yes” when prompted with the “A file is in a different file format than its extension indicates” message.
Do a “Save As” and you will notice that the File Name is blank. In previous versions, this field would contain the current workbook file name
     (i.e. “Blank Example.xls”)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Jaynet,
In order to re-produce this, you need to answer "yes" to the rename file prompt and then continue with step 5 (above).
The reason for this is not an exercise in futility - I assure you.  At my work and elsewhere, when web developers have created features to permit the end user to save web data in Excel format, often times the Excel files are saved locally in Excel's
html format (but with the .xls
    extension).
    (I actually prefer the .xls
extension, because it is easier to just double-click the file to open in Excel, rather than to select the open-with and then select Excel. a file with the .html extension will default open in your default browser. Now, I could change my default program
for the .html extension, but that would only solve a part of the problem and would not really address the bigger issue and that being that Microsoft changed a behavior in Excel and may not even be aware that it was a much used feature. )
To continue, when I go to open the resulting Excel file, I am prompted with the message that the file type does not match the extension (which is fine and not bothersome to me).  It's at this point when I go to save the file that I get really annoyed.
In previous versions of Excel, the default file name would be pre-filled with the current name of the file and the default file type would state that it is a Web html file.  I would just change the file type to Excel Workbook and hit enter to save.
I would be prompted with "Are you sure you want to overwrite your existing file?" message and I would click "yes" and that would be that.
However, in Excel 2010, because the default file name is blank, I then need to re-type the name into the field to save the file.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Unable to read data in Excel 2010/2013 from encrypted Access 2010/2013 database

A customer has an Access database (.accdb), which was encrypted/given a database password in Access 2013. It should be possible to read that data from Excel 2010/2013, but when clicking on Data-->From Access
and the correct path is put in and the correct database password has been entered, Excel just keeps prompting for the database password. This happens with both Excel 2010 and 2013.
The database password supplied is correct as evidenced by opening the database in Access 2013 using the same database password.
A colleague in a separate company has found that a separate .accdb file he has recently encrypted also has the same problem as above, yet a .accdb file encrypted ages ago
    is readable from Excel.
How do I get Excel 2010/2013 to read the data from the encrypted .accdb file, please?

Since Access 2010 the encryption algorithm has changed:
    Source
Follow the next steps to apply an encryption method that will allow you to (programmatically) connect to the database:
    1. Decrypt the database
    2. Change the encryption method:
        - In Access Options select 'Client Settings'
        - Scroll down to section 'Advanced'
        - 'Encryption Method': select option 'Use legacy encryption (..'
        - Click 'OK'
    3. Encrypt the database
    Hope this helps.

  • Excel 2010 Synchronize List with SharePoint List using VBA

I have used and loved the interaction between Excel and SharePoint for many generations of both solutions.  It's a wonderful opportunity to integrate the familiarity and simplicity of Excel (formatting, ease of use, availability) with the data storage
and centralized list capabilities of SharePoint.  Right?
When upgrading to Excel 2010, I have noticed with much dismay that much of the inherent easy to use features of previous versions were effectively stripped from this newest version.  Much research, time and energy has been spent working around and resolving
the deficiency.  One Microsoft based article,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930006, has provided the mechanics behind utilizing the "hidden" functionality... although, this capability to use VBA to create the synchronized list was available in previous versions.  However, once Microsoft
published this article to this "hidden" functionality... I feel that the behavior should be supported by Microsoft in some way.  OK?
Revised instructions to reproduce the problem:
    1. Create a SharePoint list with 20 dummy records.
    - Note the List Name  ##LIST_NAME##
    - Note the View GUID  ##VIEW_GUID##
    - Note SharePoint Base URL  ##BASE_URL##
    2. REVISED... In Excel 2010, save the file as Compatible "Excel 97-2003 Workbook".  Close the file and reopen.  Create a connected table (ListObject) in Excel using the article above to the SharePoint list.  Use Sample VBA code
    below:
    Sub LinkedSharePointList()
    ActiveSheet.ListObjects.Add SourceType:=xlSrcExternal,_
        Source:=Array(##BASE_URL## & "/_vti_bin", ##LIST_NAME##, _
        ##VIEW_GUID##), LinkSource:=True, Destination:=Range("A1")
    End Sub
    3. OOPS REVISED this item.  The problem is actually with ROW 21... So, update record on row 21... (no matter where the table is located... (if the "Destination" is "A1", then the problem is with ID=20, but if the Table is
shifted down to say A12, then ID=9 on row 21).  Anyway... make a simple change to that record... and you'll see the ID immediately change.... as if it's a NEW record.  WEIRD!  Note: If the sheet is protected, then an error is displayed
indicating that a "read-only" record cannot be updated (referring to the ID cell in column A for the current row).
    4. Now "synchronize" the list with excel.  The former record is still in the list unchanged AND there is a NEW record in the list holding the changes.  There are a number of problems that seem to ONLY occur when something changes to ROW
21.... Next, try to copy/paste multiple records across multiple rows that intersect with ROW 21.  Yikes!!
I look forward to hearing others' experience!
    Thanks!
    Mark

  • The goal is to synchronize an excel sheet using Microsoft Excel 2010 with Sharepoint 3.0

The goal is to synchronize an excel sheet using Microsoft Excel 2010 with Sharepoint 3.0. We have already installed an add-in (Excel 2007 Add-in: Synchronizing Tables with SharePoint Lists) that was supposed
to help the synchronization of excel to Sharepoint, but it did not work. We would like to synchronize information about a calendar from excel to Sharepoint 3.0, so every time a change is made in excel it automatically updates in Sharepoint.

ootb, changes in excel don't sync with a SharePoint list, the other way around is possible.
