SMS sent as MMS

Hi, i am helping one of my friend with her BB curve. When i try to go to Text Messaging options setting. I don't find a setting to Send Text-only Message As. Any advice would much appreciated.

On your Homescreen when your Open Text Message Icon > Press the Menu Key > Options > Are you unable to See the Option " Send Text Only Message as "
Also On our BlackBerry Device if we send a Text Message which contain Meltimedia it will automatically switch to MMS , Are you sure that your friend is not sending any media contain ?
Click " Like " if you want to Thank someone.
If Problem Resolves mark the post(s) as " Solution ", so that other can make use of it.

SMS sent to multiple contacts were converted into mms, text only 61 characters long including spaces. Carrier O2 have said it is an known issue with apple products. This has cost me £50 to say happy new year to my family and friends. Anyone know of this issue with iPhone. Called into apple store who were unaware of this? Everyone blaming each other as usual! Thanks Tim, apple say the same thing, carrier's method of handling multiple SMS creates this issue, can't see anywhere which alerts the customer to this on terms and conditions so back to O2 it is then!

Why are 4s text messages sent as MMS?

I don't have an iPhone 4S, however, more than one person has sent me text messages (only text, no pictures, video, or audio) using their 4S and they are always sent as multimedia (MMS) messages instead of SMS. It seems to happen when they compose a new text, but when they reply to one of my SMS messages, it replies as SMS.
It's quite annoying, especially since I don't have a plan with unlimited messages and MMS cost me something like a quarter a piece... for something that does not have any multimedia content.
So what's the deal? Is this an iPhone issue, or only an issue with specific carriers? I haven't asked which carriers my friends use, but I believe it's Verizon and/or AT&T. I don't believe it is an issue with pre- 4S iPhones.

If the sender is sending out multiple SMS's at the same time, this could be the problem. Most carrier's will send multiple SMS's as MMS...nothing a sender can do about this, except not send multiple SMS's at once.

How to send contacts via sms instead of mms in nok...

i have a problem....when i try to send a contact via messaging on nokia asha 501, the contact is being sent as mms instead of sms......it increases the cost of sending and also if the phone at the receivers end is not a multimedia phone (a basic phone), the contact sent cant be displayed.........so i wanted to ask that if there is any way so that i can send the contacts via only sms instead of mms?......thnx in advance if you have some useful answer

I am also facing big problem due to this issue. I need to send contacts to many people now and then and most of the plp use basic set. So tehy are not able to open mms. Also due to mms my monthly rental charge is getting heavy !! I saw sharing contacts via sms is available in lower end ASHA handsets. This basic feature should be abailable. any workaround

Regarding your concern, the only way that you can send a contact number on the phone is thru sharing it from the contacts icon. This will automatically change the messaging template to a Multimedia Message.

Are my group messages being sent as MMS instead of SMS?

See, I am a new postpaid subscriber. And my plan only includes unlimited text messaging (SMS) and data use. I usually send out group messages to 50+ of my colleagues when I need to remind them about something or ask a question. Are these messages being sent as an MMS, or as regular text messages? I fear I may be getting charged hefty sums for texting.

Why don't you check with your carrier. They would be in a position to better answer that question than a group of users from all over the world.

Video sent as MMS, not as a iMessage (send as sms option is disabled)

Hi, everything works great on my iPhone 4S 64GB iOS6.
By the way, today I tried to send a videoclip thru iMessage to another iPhone 4S with iOS6, I was connected at my WiFi, the iPhone displayed the error "iMessage not sent, retry please" or something similar.
I tapped the "retry" button and my iPhone sent the videoclip as a 60 cents MMS and not as a free iMessage!
The option "send as sms" is disabled in my iphone.
Do I have to disable "MMS messaging" option too? If I disable this option can I receive MMS from other phones?

I think I'll leave the flag on "MMS Messaging" but when I'll have to send an image or a video thru iMessage I'll disable that option for few seconds to be sure that the Service Provider won't leach my €€€€€

Why are my text messages sent as mms?

Sometimes when sending sms messages, the person recieving them has to download them like they are a picture. I have checked and under settings the subject line is off. Im not sure what else to try. It also doesnt seem to matter how long or short they are. Any ideas?

You probably sent the text to multiple recipients, which is done via MMS on the iPhone.

X6 - Calendar appointment sent as MMS and not as a...

I am trying to send a calendar appointment via SMS, but the message is sent as an MMS message, and not as a "calendar appointment" message.
How can I fix it?

SMS sent from Nokia Suite is not saved

PC Nokia Suite (7.1.18.0) seems to be working fine on both Bluetooth and USB Cable with my Nokia 6300 (FW is V07.21).
EXCEPT, whenever I send SMSs from the Nokia Communications Centre, they are not saved anywhere. I assume that they should save in NCC and immediately be replicated back to my phone, but that is not happening. So I have no record of anything I have sent, unless I key it in onto my phone.
All off the other categories of SMS (Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Archive) seem to replicate OK between phone and NCC. Why not the Sent messages?
And yes, I am sure that the messages are being sent - that was the first thing I checked

unfortunately I'm also suffering from lack of this feature. however I'm not sure which other mobile phone can do something like requested by author (and me ).
Suppose it has something to do with the way desktop software works with GSM phones, it probably just sends series of AT commands to GSM phone modem, initiating sending of message. Saving of message into "Sent" box may be not implemented into standard AT command set (but here I'm only guessing).
I've happened to work with old Siemens phone and it behaved almost same way, i.e. messages were sent but not saved in "Sent" box. However there was a trick - desktop software had not only "Send" but also "Save" button, and pressing of this button saved messages in "Drafts" box. So if I needed absolutely message to be saved in "Sent" box, I prepared messages and saved them to "Drafts". Later I should take my phone and send messages manually from phone, so at least I saved efforts on typing, but had to work from both PC and phone interfaces to send message.
I'm not sure if any "alternative" software for Nokia phones (like Oxygen Phone Manager) have this capability, but if you look at this screen http://www.oxygensoftware.com/en/products/opm2/images/SMSPictureMessage.gif you shall see there "Save" button which may possibly (?) implement same functionality.

Ovi Share - No details on SMS sent to invitees

After uploading pictures or video to the folder, I use the share button to invite people/friends to view the content. The SMS form has input for invitees, subject and messages. However, all these details are not sent to the invitee. Only the share link is included in the SMS not even the sender's details. Therefore, the invitee will have absolutely no idea what the SMS is for from reading it.

Hi. It may be that the animation that is being sent is not compatible with your handset. Unfortunately there would be no settings on the handset you could change to allow this to be viewed.

Saving SMS sent from PC

SMS messages are not pushed to other devices.
iMessages (if you have it turned on) will be pushed.

How to respond to SMS sent from Email?

When I was on verizon I could send an SMS to an email address, and also if I received an SMS (to [email protected]) I could respond to it. Does anyone know if you can respond to an email sent to your cingularme.com address, it only comes up as from 1 (010) 100-004 which you cannot reply to. If no, then why did they do it this way? Is it iPhone or AT&T?

Agreed that this is not only an annoyance but also hinders productivity. I receive pages from work, which are aliased to <my_number>@cingularme.com. I would like to use my iPhone to respond to the pages, which means that I can integrate 'To' and 'CC' into replies. My BlackBerry with Verizon service made use of SMS in this way. Since SMS is a standardized protocol, this does appear to be a limitation of AT&T service; rather, it appears that Apple has chosen to simplify the capabilities of iPhone's SMS, dressing it with the familiar iChat interface (which has also been vastly simplified from OS X).
