SMTP, Sending, Not Sending?

Here is the mail I sent the MAC shop with a couple of extras at the end
For Email:
My iBook G4 is running Tiger 10.4.11 and I never had any problems, it works great.
My new MacBook running Leopard 10.5.1 has problems when on both wireless network and cdma network.
I have set-up my 4 email accounts on my MacBook exactly the same as on my iBook but there is a problem when sending email on the MacBook.
When I send email the following can happen:
1) Activity viewer shows "Sending data (100% Done)" but it just stays there and does not send (screenshot attached).
2) It starts to send and then stops and gives an SMTP Error (screenshot attached).
3) The email sends but takes more than 5 minutes to send a 5kb email.
I then try on iBook with same configuration and modem and no problem, I have also configured email accounts on DELL M1330 & Compaq Presario laptops and can send no problem using cdma and wireless.
I have checked SMTP settings many times, including outgoing ports used and they are all correct.
I even used the ISP's SMTP with limited success, it works now and then but still errors with the smtp error or the "Done 100%"......
I am not sure if this is an issue related to Wireless or CDMA Modem I use....But it is driving me nuts and really am at a total loss as to what to do.
Please help

You may not have the same problem but what I did is worth a try.
First, when I went to Leopard some of the outgoing settings didn't copy over. In MAC Mail I didn't get the send button to be available. Outgiong mail settings including the server and advaned settings must be what your ISP needs. My Yahoo mail would send fine but MAC Mail wouldn't. Mail>Prefrerences>Accounts - Outgoing Server - Edit Server > Advanced - Server, SSL, Authentication all must be correct.
MAC Mail for some reason also requires a DNS server setting in the network setup.
Under System Preferences, go to Network and add your DNS numbers for your ISP Server. Get the right numbers from your ISP. I did a search for "DNS" on the ATT/YAHOO member web site.
This fixes the slow checking and sending of mail....It also fixes problems where mail sends slow and may give Authentication errors.
I spent many hours on this and finally the answer was posted on this forum.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • SMTP Adapter: Not sending email for one of the applications

I have a weird problem. I have three applications that need to send emails. Two of them are sending emails but the third one is not. Practically everything in the third is a copy-paste from the second application. Uses the same handler and so forth. In reality
there is no reason there should be any failure.
How can I track if my email request was sent to the smtp server in the first place and also why this one is failing? Further, anything on the smtp server that could help tracing this message. May be it is failing there?

The SMTP Adapter don't just "through away" messages. If your Tracked Service Instances shows that a message was sent through the Port, I am pretty sure that a mail was indeed sent.
-Are you using Static- or Dynamic Port?
Can you try to set the Send Port in "Stopped" state, and then send a message to it. Examine the message suspended in BizTalk, and if everything looks ok, then start the Port again and check that the message has disappeared from both suspended and running
    instances in the Group Hub.
If so, quickly check the mail box, make sure that no spam-filters etc. are messing up your test.

  • Domino 8.5.3 iNotes "send not sending" in Firefox 3.6, has this been addressed in ver. 9 ?

According to IBM Domino iNotes support, the Firefox failed to use the cached signed script, from Domino 8.5.3 iNotes, - signed script also could not be executed at that time, therefore the message was unable to be sent out. - Has this been fixed in Firefox 9 ?

    In a word, no.
See http://www.pinkmutant.com/articles/Leopard/leospot.html for starters and my mod to Finder's Find at http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20080229204517495 for what you can change so you can find stuff excluded by the default structure. Do note that my mod no longer works in Snow Leopard, further crippling Spotlight searches.

  • 3 different smtp accounts, 1 will not send

I've read and tried to find an answer to no avail.
I have three accounts set up in Mail. One is my employer. One is an independent client and the third is gmail. All received and sent except that my employer smtp will not send. Our IT help has provided me three different smtp servers to use with all the options of passwords or no passwords, port numbers etc. Nothing has worked. It's puzzling that only this one account is affected. Any help will be appreciated.
    MacBookPro17   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2.16 GHz, 2GB RAM

Yes. Our ISP's server worked fine the first week. Then I worked from home the second week. This is when the problem started. I subscribe to the same ISP as my employer. I tried deleting the account and adding it back first. When that didn't solve it, we tried two other smtp servers. None worked.
Additional note, if I click "try again later" when it prompts to try another smtp, it will eventually send after prompting me for this. But, that's regularly been 2-3 hours later after several "try again laters".

Hit edit, went to following page, typed my user name & passwd-----Still get drop down window --- says SMTP server rejected passwd 4 my acct. If can't resolve, off to the GENIUS.
    All help appreciated-----Lester

  • Mail receives OK but will not send for smtp account.  Exchange server receives/sends OK

mail receives OK but will not send for smtp account.  Exchange server receives/sends OK  I'm away from home, using a family-member's wireless network that has always worked OK in the past.  Today, the same problem occured while waiting in a hospital waiting lounge.  Any ideas?

The outgoing mail server may be rejecting mail from your network address. Typically that happens when your mail service provider is also your ISP, and you connect to it from another network. The SMTP server will allow connections without a password from anywhere, but it will only relay mail from within the ISP's network. It could also be that your account on the server has expired or been suspended.
If you need to send mail from outside your ISP's network, use an independent mail service provider. I don't have a specific recommendation.

  • 10.9.3: Not able to log onto other networks than mine at home and Go Daddy outgoing mail not sending (smtp)

A week ago my go daddy email stopped working as it would receive but not send. It's an imap account and hence it would not connect to the smtp server when attemting to send. Incoming imap server works well. When trying to use a network outside my home, I discovered that I cannot log into other networks than my own any longer. Email and wifi on my phone works all fine. I have been on the phone with Apple and Go Daddy for 3 hours altogher, tried different solutions such as deleting anti virus software, deleting and resetting email account, tried different port versions etc to no avail. Since I can still not log on to other networks, I am suspecting it be an operating system error? Has anyone experienced a similar problem or has a possible solution please?

    Thanks. here it is:

  • HT1277 Mac Mail receiving but not sending. smtp not working

I have been using Mac Mail with my Gmail account without any trouble for the last few years and just for the last 2-3 weeks I cannot send any e-mails. I am receiving without any problems, but no matter what I do it won't send, not even an e-mail to myself. My Calendar is set up to send my notifications and those won't even go. I have verified my settings (time and time again), I deleted and reset-up my account, in the last two weeks I have done everything I can, but can't figure it out so I am getting kind of desperate. I am sure that it is something to do with smtp but all of my settings for that are right too (in accordance to the Gmail and Apple sites). What I have done is just read and responded to my e-mails (when I do it offline) and then I have to log into my gmail account and copy/paste ALL of my e-mails manually, which I am sure you can imagine is extremely inefficient. Thank you to anyone who can help!
Running Mac OS X 10.6.8 with Mail 4.5 and accessing Gmail

Here is a screen shot too, not that it says much, but this is what I always get, no matter the settings (since they are all correct! OH! I guess I should also mention that I currently live in Africa and that I am using my Blackberry Bold as a modem to get internet on my computer, but I have been doing that since last year and never had a problem until now.
Also, I did just very recently (as in a couple weeks ago), insert a new modem to my computer to try a second method of getting the internet on my computer other than my phone, and it didn't really work so I am back to just the phone again... would that simple installation have anything to do with Mail not sending e-mail? I can't imagine that it would, But I have seen stranger things.

  • TS3276 can receive mail, can not send, set up smtp(offline)?

I feel like a jerk, I know it is probably a simple change of wording in advanced setting or something I'm not doing correctly but I can not send mail using aol server. I use Safari only and have 2 accounts plus icloud, I have my Macbook Pro about 10 months and have had several mail issues but I worked them out.

    Hello:
I use AOL's mail as well.
Open mail.  Go to preferences and highlight your account in the sidebar.  Click on accounts>account information.  The out going mail server should show smtp.aol.com:your account name.  If that shows "offline," click on the drop down menu  "edit smtp server list."  The server name should be smtp.aol.com in use by your account.  Click on advanced.  You should use the default ports (25,465,587).  I authenticate using a password and my password is prefilled.  On rare occasions I have had a "gremlin" erase the password in that password box.  I have no clue how that happened, but the AOL server would not handle outgoing mail - showed offline.  Sometimes it took me quite awhile (restarts, etc) to get things going again.

  • Telus email account - can receive on pop but will not send on smtp?

Have set up Telus account as per instructions - will receive just fine but will not send (SMTP server not responding).

I  have this problem to amongst other errors on a brand new iMac only 1 month old. Pretty "sad" with these multi million dollar companies that cant help out the customer and give out the proper instructions that MANY people are having . At least Telus makes an attempt to help,by logging in to your computer.Apple does nothing  but help waste my time. I am already regretting getting this expensive thng and already having problems. Why cant it ever be just plug it in setup  and go ?

Whilst it may not be your fault I am afraid it appears that your post is on a forum which is not the best for your OS. It will save the time of the unpaid volunteers here, and may resolve your issue faster, if you could examine the list below and see if there is a more appropriate forum to which you could direct your question.

  • TS1307 my smtp server has (offline) after it and will not send messages

Ever since I had to change my email server to mobile me. I have not been able to send email. Can receive but not send. The SMTP server address has (offline) after it? I have tried everything and nothing has worked.

This helped me too. I had to go back and reset everything from password to in and out going ISP info. After deleting and logging off and cleaning off everything then reentering all my info it started sending backed up messages instantly. This link helped alot. Not impressed with the mobile me program at all. considering going back to my ISP email server for the future. Just to many issues with the MM software and no phone number or possible way to contact tech support so its useless to me with out it.
