SMTP server on WIndows 7

Hi All,
In one of my application, I want to send Email out. I am using Windows 7 on my development machine, but I am getting below  error
A message sent to adapter "SMTP" on send port "SendPortEmail" with URI "[email protected]" is suspended.
Error details: The transport failed to connect to the server.
Not sure if I can implement SMTP server functionality on Windows 7 after reading this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8041856/smtp-local-server-in-windows-7-running-iis7.
Can you guys please suggest me whether it is possible or not. If yes please suggest the way do so.
Thanks, Girish R. Patil.

Hi All,
Thanks for all your inputs.
I have implemented the solution suggested by you.
Right now, I have used smtp4dev. By using this my mail is getting created and sent from biztalk. I think smtp4dev is working as simulator, as it is not sending the mail to the mentioned email address. It just accepts the mail information from biztalk and
generates below mail:
So, looks like this occurs through simulation as the recipient mentioned in this did not get mail.
After all this, I am still getting following Warning in event log.
Thanks, Girish R. Patil.

    Hi,
I recommend you refer to the following article to configure the smtp server:

In addition, you should ask this in Windows server forum as this is not an exchange problem:

  • Mail.app: Select outgoing (SMTP) server per message?

    Dear community members,
I'm looking for a solution to the following problem:
I do have multiple e-mail accounts which are configured in the following way: One of them is the master account (let's say [email protected]) added to Mail.app as a POP account. The other ones (let's call them [email protected] and [email protected]) are on different servers and are configured to forward all incoming mail to [email protected] They are, however, not added to Mail.app as additional accounts. That is because it's not necessary for receiving mail with these addresses, since all incoming mail is forwarded to [email protected], anyway, and therefore immediately available in Mail.app.
The problem arises when sending e-mails within Mail.app. I can easily add all three addresses in the "Mail" > "Settings" > "Accounts" settings window by entering them in the e-mail-address-field separated by comma (e.g. "[email protected], [email protected], [email protected]“). This allows me to select the desired outgoing address on a per-message basis in the compose window.
There is, however, a problem with this: This setting means that mail from all three addresses is being sent using the same SMTP server. This can cause problems for domains that do have SPF-records, for example. Therefore, I'd very much prefer to not only select the outgoing mail address on a per-message-basis, but also the SMTP-server I'd like to use. Since Mail.app allows me to add multiple SMTP servers in the account's settings window, I believe there has to be a way to select which one to use on a per-message-basis? Whenever there's a problem with an SMTP-server, a window opens up asking me which of the alternative SMTP servers I'd like to use, instead. This indicates that this function exists – it's just far from obvious for me where to find it in a normal usage scenario.
Does anyone have an idea? Any hint is welcome!
    Thanks
    Nick

That has nothing to do with it. I ended up working around the problem by changing the account name.
But I still think this is a bug, so I won't mark the topic as answered (a workaround is not the solution).

  • Setting SMTP Server for POP Acct in Mail

I can't seem to set the smtp server properly in an account for my personal (cf business) email -- this one's a pop server. I keep getting a rejection message, and the smtp server line in the setup window reads something like "server offline." My business email (Exchange) works fine.
Suggestions re what I may be doing wrong?

Did you happen remove that account then recreate it?
If so, there's a slight bug in Mail:
Removing an account In Mail Preferences / Accounts, it does NOT remove the corresponding entry in the SMTP server list window. This SMTP server list window is found- ACCOUNT INFORMATION / Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): pull-down window "Edit SMTP Server List" and you'll find the removed account's SMTP server information.
Recreating the same account, Mail would crash every time. Recreating the same account is only possible after editing and removing the SMTP server from the list.
Removing an account would remove the account and related mail boxes okay, but not the SMTP Server List.
So, try removing the account, and also remove the corresponding entry in the SMTP server list (described above... click the - symbol on the bottom of the window ), then recreate it.

  • Unable to make any connection to GoDaddy SMTP server...

    Hi,
I am trying to configure mail as my mail client for a domain I registered at GoDaddy. I know the server works, as I can log on through the webmail interface and send and receive email, but I cannot get to the SMTP server at all through the Mail application.
I went into network utilities to ping the server and got nothing. Perhaps some kind of internal firewall issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no SMTP server when sending messages via webmail access.
I copied the following from GoDaddy's website for setting up the SMTP server.
When the SMTP Server Options window displays, type smtpout.secureserver.net
in the Outgoing Mail Server field and change the Server Port setting to 80.
Under the Authentication list, select Password and enter your SMTP user name (full email address) and password.
    Click OK.
NOTE: "smtpout.secureserver.net" is an SMTP relay server. In order to use this server to send emails, you must first activate SMTP relay on your email account. Log on to your Manage Email Accounts page to set up SMTP relay. If you do not have SMTP relay set up and your Internet Service Provider (ISP) allows it, you can use the outgoing mail server for your Internet Service Provider. Contact your Internet Service Provider to get this setting.
Are you access an email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP with the Mail.app and if so, are you able to send messages with this account?
Are you accessing another email account and SMTP server not provided by your ISP with the Mail.app and if so, are you able to send messages with this account?
If the answer is yes to the first question, select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send messages with your GoDaddy's account and check with your ISP regarding their required settings when using an SMTP server that is outside of their network.

  • Windows IIS SMTP server internal spoofing

    Hi,
I setup windows IIS based smtp server, I had below requirements.
    1. all application emails should be relayed internally and externally, from domain and non-domain (Windows & Unix systems)
    2. Only list of email domains (we have close to 20 email domain)should be able to send emails to this SMTP virtual server
    3. Internal email spoofing should not be allowed
    4. this system should not accept email from domains other than specified domains (Point 2).
I verified all settings, now I am able to send email internally & externally but my problem is, its accepting emails from any domain (Other than domain we use) and spoofing also.
    Thanks!

  • SMTP Server Windows Azure Cloud

    Hello everyone,
Currently intern at a BI company, I must implement a decision-making on a VM Windows Azure Cloud.
Since few days I am facing a problem.
I must implement an automatic email sending in the case of an error.
To do this, I need to specify an SMTP server.
When I'm local (on my machine), I have no problem, I use the SMTP server used my company.
Of course, the SMTP server of the company does not work in the Cloud.
Can you clarify me about this if you have some answers ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Best regards,
    Vivien

One suggestion may be to create a VPN between Azure and your environment, and use your local SMTP server for this.

  • ICloud SMTP server not working on Windows Live

I can use iCloud to read and send messages on my iPhones and using the web interface in Safari but it doesn't seem to work with Windows Live Mail.
    I'm using the following settings:
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
    Port: 993
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    Password: Your iCloud password
      SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
    Port: 587
    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    Password: Your iCloud password
I can read messages in Windows Live but I can't send.  I get an error and if I click "Send/Receive", I get a window that pops up with my account username and password.  When I retype that it just keeps popping up until I hit cancel.  It's like the server is not responding at all.
    Please help.

    Click on “Settings”
    Choose “Accounts & Sync”
    Select “Add Acount”
You’ll be presented with a list of Email accounts. Choose “Email”
Type in your email “[email protected]” and enter your iCloud password
I suggest changing your iCloud password to be the same as your iCloud email password. It just makes things easier
Under incoming settings enter the following
    “imap.mail.me.com”
    Port should be “993″
    Security type “SSL/TLS”
Outgoing settings under SMTP server type in “smtp.me.com”
    Under Port type in “587″
    Security type, select “No”
    “Require Sign-in”
Enter your iCloud username and password.

  • Adding an SMTP mail server to an existing Weblogic server on Windows 7

    Hi,
I need to send e-mail from pl/sql, using UTL_MAIL, but my google searches don't find how to add an SMTP mail server to my pc.
I have found that Microsoft offers IIS but I think the SMTP server could be part of Weblogic?
Please redirect me to the proper Oracle Mail forum if it exists.
    Many thanks for your help.

Sure, all you need to do is install the server with the mailbox role (and other roles, if you want), configure whatever mailbox databases you want on it (and configure the other roles you have added), then put mailboxes on it.
Some advice - do not use the GUI for the installation because it will install default mailbox and public folder databases.  If you use the setup.com (the text-based installation), you can control databases.  We had to rebuild a server once and
the engineer assisting us had us use the GUI and we ended up with a public folder database, which we had to remove (since we have no public folders in our organization).
Once you have the new server installed, you can either create new mailboxes on it, or you can move existing mailboxes from your other databases to it.  With the Exchange 2010 move mailbox commands, this is a very simple process.
BTW, when you get around to removing your P2V'ed system(s), make sure you handle any CAS virtual servers (OWA, ECP, OAB) and ensure they are hosted on a server that will remain.  You could end up painting yourself into a corner if you don't.

    Hello Sue,
I have an iPad 3, iPad Mini and iPhone 5S and they are all sluggish on capitalisation using shift keys. I hope that Apple will solve the problem because it is driving me crazy.
I find using a Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 phone, which I also have, work as well as all the ios devices before the ios 7 upgrade.
It has something to do with the length of time that you need to hold the shift key down. The shift key needs to be held longer than the letter key for the capitalisation to work. For some reason, this is a major change in the way we have learnt to touch type on computers. I am having to relearn how to type!

  • My e-mails are not sending. "connection to SMTP server timed out." How do I get this working?

As of yesterday, I am receiving e-mails fine; however, unable to send. Everytime I try to send an e-mail, I get "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server (my mail address) timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
I received help from lunarpages (they host my domain); however, they were unable to resolve the issue. They suggested something is blocking IP, or need to update Thunderbird, or there's a firewall there...
    Help!!!
My clients are waiting for responses to e-mails!
    Thank you.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
*Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
*Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]
; If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

  • Cannot send emails - connection to SMTP server timeout

I cannot send emails from my Thunderbird. Every time I try, an error message shows up saying that the connection to SMTP server has timed out:
    "Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.lineone.net timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator."
I have looked at many different possible solutions and tried them, but nothing seems to be working. I have tried several different ports, failed to send in Safe Mode with Networking and Thunderbird safe mode without add-ons and tried many different settings. I have ensured that the my settings on Thunderbird match the settings that my ISP recommends. My anti-virus software is not affecting it either. Maybe there is something I am missing but I would really appreciate any suggestions!
    Here is some general info:
    Mail provider: lineone
    ISP: BT
    Anti-virus software: AVG
    OS: Windows Vista
    Thunderbird version: 31.5.0

    Hello @shredo,
Firstly, I would suggest reading this support article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages
If that doesn't help, try some of these things (not sorted in any particular order):
*Test your connection in another network. There might just be some blocked ports in your router or conflict of some sort.
    * Test your smtp settings in another email client (to ensure that they actually work). If it doesn't work, there might be some missmatch with the settings (even though you have ensured that they match), or some restriction by your router or something.
    * Apparently, compacting your thunderbird folders might help with this issue (something to do with too many "deleted", that are still there) - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders
    I hope this helps.

  • Can someone help me send mail using SMTP server?

I am having the most frustrating problem with SMTP outgoing email account.  I use GoDaddy's Webmail (smtp.secureserver.net) and I receive all my emails through Apple Mail but I cannot send any.  I haven't been able to for about two weeks now, aside from 3 or 4 fleeting windows of time when I could.  Almost all of the time I try to send my emails, an error message says my outgoing account is offline.  I've been on the phone with GoDaddy's tech support three times this week and did everything we could think of, which include these steps:
-Force Quit Apple Mail --> Restart Computer
-Change Default Ports to a specific one and uncheck "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)"
    -Check "Use only this server"
-Delete account completely from Apple Mail and re-load (which I had to go into Time Machine to recover messages, and lots a bunch in the process ugh!)
Nothing works!  I depend on this email for my business, and I rely heavily on Apple Mail for this account.  All of my other email accounts that I pull through Mail work fine, but of course they are not SMTP outgoing.  Please help...I feel like I've tried everything and nothing works permanently.

At this point there are 2 possible causes to your problem:
    Apple Mail
Connectivity between you and the SMTP server
I can't help with (1) as I use Thunderbird as my mail client (the biggest advantage being I can take my mail files and move between different versions of Mac OS X). If you suspect that your problem is due to Apple Mail, then using another email client to send a test message will prove the point. If it works, then the problem lies with Apple Mail and somebody else will have to chip in. If it still fails, then there may be connectivity issue between you and the mail server.
If you google "telnet smtp test" (without the quotes), you will find many articles showing you how to test an SMTP connection using telnet. Don't be put off by the fact that many of the articles assume you are running Windows. The only Mac bit you need to know is that telnet is a command line utility accessed via Terminal. The rest is generic.
Telnet will allow you to interact with the mail server a line at a time and show you exactly what and where the problem is. If you get an unexpected response from the server, go back to GoDaddy and show them the output. If you don't get any response at all (i.e. "telnet smtpout.secureserver.net 25" just hangs), then take it up with your ISP as you are simply not getting through to the server.
    Good luck.

  • Cannot send messages since updating to Thunderbird V 31.3.0. The message could not be sent using SMTP server for an unknown reason. Help?!?

    Mail provider - Network Solutions
    ISP - Comcast
    Anti-Virus - Kaspersky Internet Security 2013
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1
    Outgoing Server SMTP settings attached.
I can receive messages and can send them directly from Network Solutions just unable to send now from Thunderbird. Was working fine until the newest version installed. Haven't changed any settings...

That anti virus? is it Nortons security suite? I think that is what comcast give their xfinity customers but I am not sure what everyone else gets.
Assuming is is the Norton's product go into the firewall component and explicitly allow Thunderbird unrestricted access to the internet. Norton's product have a long history of blocking new releases of mail programs because the version number changed.
Go onto the SMTP setting you have in the image and make sure each has a description entered.
Now check in the account settings by clicking the account name in the list so you select the item about Server settings for each account and make sure the selected SMTP server is what you think it is. Now there is a description that will show in the list.
