Check your GMS logs. There's most likely a corrupt user throwing errors
over errors. Fix that (possibly by a full reset), and the issue with the
soad threads should go away.

  • Message worker threads maxed

    Hello,
    Friday I was experimenting with a global signature, assigned to the PO and trying to get it to work. In the the mean time the server abended. After rebooting I noticed that the signature started working but that the message worker threads where maxed out and messages started queueing in 4 and 5. I ran a post office repair over night and this morning things seemed better. I then turned off the global signature and now things are slow again and threads are again maxed out. Is this a normal behavior? Does the signature associate to every user in the PO? Or is something just wrong with my PO that I need to repair.

  • BES 5.01 MR1 and GW 8.0.1 HP1 or 8.02

    Hello:
    I'm in the process of migrating our current environment of BES 4.1.6/ GW 8.01 to BES 5.01 MR1. I believe the current version of GroupWise is 8.01, not 8.0.1 HP1. How do I confirm this? The GroupWise engine (GWENN5.NLM) is 8.00.01 dated August 25, 2009.
    Has anyone had any issues with 8.02 with BES 5.01? RIM still recommends 8.0.1 HP1 in its compatibility matrix although 8.02 is supported.
    Should I upgrade to 8.0.1 HP1 or 8.02?
    All feedback welcomed.
    Thanks

    If you already have BES 5 started, the newest HP2 release today will fix the
    dreaded SOAP maxed out threads, I have been running a unreleased HP2 code
    for almost a month and have not had any issues with SOAP threads maxing out.
    This release of GW 8 SP2 HP2 was given to RIM more than a week ago so that
    they could certify it with BES 5 but I haven't heard if they have yet.
    I believe contact sync from BES to GW hasn't been fixed yet but that's a
    patch that RIM has to offer for their BES.

  • Mailbox very slow with direct login but ok when proxying

    We have a large common departmental account monitored by multiple users (yes, shared account, not shared folder). When I log in directly to the account and select a folder it can take 10-15 secs to populate the list of items. Seems to apply to nearly every folder, even those with small numbers of contents (5-30 items), not just those with many items. If I log into my own account and proxy to the shared account then the folders also get populated fairly quickly (0.5-2sec). No problem with my own folders so sounds like its specific to the other account.
    Connections are c/s only. C/s handler threads spend most of their time 0 busy with occasional bursts of activity that clear again
    Message handler and soap threads seem to remain at 0 all the time
    C/s requests pending remains at 0.
    Problem occurs running client on XP and on Windows 7 64bit.
    Have run GWCHECK to fix a few probs but problem continues. Appears to be just a problem with this one account but the key point is why the difference between direct logged-in and proxied?

    No I'm not particularly bothered about the LOGIN time, that only happens once. The problem is the time to browse between different folders once login is complete. (sorry for the confusion, I 'll edit the OP to make it clearer).
    Good:
    Login as self, proxy to uber-account, wait for completion. Then click on a random folder, wait for message list to be populated (network traffic completed <1s), GUI updated <1 sec, maybe 2secs if many messages in list. Same acceptable performance occurs when clicking on subsequent folders. Workstation CPU usage during update 1-2%.
    Bad:
    Login as uber-account, wait for completion. Click on a random folder, wait for message list to be populated (network traffic completed <1s), GUI not updated for 10-15secs - all of the items refreshed together at the end of the period so to the user it looks like you've clicked on a new folder and the contents is the same as the previous until it suddenly refreshes after 10secs. Same problem occurs when clicking on subsequent folders. Workstation CPU usage during update 50% (dual core in this example, so probably maxing out one core for 10 secs).
    No significant disk activity during update period. No significant network tfc after initial burst. Memory ok. No change of performance when anti-virus disabled. Same behaviour on other machines so not just one baddy. My money is it's something to do with the number of folders, or the number of shared folders owned by the uber-user, or a corruption the normal GWCHECKs aren't dealing with.

  • POA performance issues under windows 2008 R2

    Hello - we are running GW 8.02 hp3 and recently moved our main post office (~600 users) from Netware to Windows 2008 R2 (running under Vsphere 4.1).
    We have started seeing intermittent slow performance issues esp. when moving a message from one folder to another, or sending a broadcast email.
    It doesn't appear to be a hardware resource issue: disk queues don't exceed 1, with low latency (7-15ms) and we're not cpu or memory bound (that I can see).
    Here are our current config settings:
    Message Worker Threads: 15
    Maximum GWCheck Worker Threads: 8
    C/S Handler Threads: 30
    Max Physical: 2048
    Max App Connections: 4084
    Soap Threads: 20
    We don't see any serious errors in the logs when performance becomes slow. Could this just be a tuning issue?

    Windows is the lowest performing host for GroupWise, so that is a part
    of what you are hitting.
    How are you monitoring memory usage? I've found that the vCenter tools
    aren't a good indicator of that, where as the Windows tools are better
    in that respect. The biggy is that you don't want much paging to disk.
    How much do you have assigned to this VM?, how many cores? And are
    these ESX box(es) over committed on those two?
    Those settings on their own don't really mean a whole lot. What we need
    to see is what is actually being used, and if you are running out of
    them, then upping those specific numbers can help. The best way is to
    watch the POA web interface for the relevant settings.

  • GMS Authentication source after GW IP changed

    Hey,
    I've recently replaced the GroupWise server, as such the IP has changed.
    I went into the Intellisync Admin console and found the option to change the server IP of GW.
    I then found the profile options to change the IP also. For some reason the Authentication source is still listing the old ip (GroupWise 10.1.1.12).
    For the life of me I can't find where I can either edit, add or remove this authentication source....As a work around I've changed a few to use Intellisync for Auth, but this would be a pain to do for all users.
    I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.
    Thanks
    N

    Are you accessing the PO as a trusted app? If so you might delete the old
    trusted app key and create a new one. That profile under wireless email
    should let you change the source IP to your GW system, now it's not taking,
    I have no clue.
    Also check your SOAP thread on the PO win the http monitor, I found out the
    hard way that the GMS loves to grab all the threads keeping them in non-idle
    state and make no connection to the server. I don't know the fix for that
    as I am working on this problem right now and trying to decide to call
    Novell or get a root canal since both are very painful.
    I have all but given up on GMS since it won't play nice with GroupWise.

  • GWIA IMAP Client Limits?

    What is the max IMAP clients an admin should allow to hit a single GWIA
    gataway using default threads?
    I'm having serious abend issues and have narrowed it down to IMAP clients
    hitting my GWIA, I getting colored debugging screen on my Netware 6.5 server
    that I have never ever seen in 25+ years in working with Netware.
    I "guess" I'm going call Novell since the only way to keep my GWIA up is to
    disable IMAP but I'm not sure what's worse, talking to front line Novell
    support or listening to my user tomorrow morning complain that that their
    fancy dancy iPhones can't get email.

    Oh I was just grasping a straws, I have a ton of word of mouth iPhone users
    that they passed the email IMAP & SMTP addresses around and without having
    predefined limits on GWIA of who could or couldn't access it, suddenly I
    have several hundred IMAP users along with over hundred moblity users.
    I running test code from Novell to address the SOAP thread issues which
    seems to work, problem was in that first release of this test code, there
    appear to a GWIA IMAP bug, newest test code seems to fix the GWIA now, I'm
    running 3 days now without an crash and SOAP is behaving ok.

  • GMS API Mode

    Can anyone tell me if I can enable API mode for GMS. GMS with SOAP is just plain bad... Are BES never gives us any issues and that is because we run in api mode.
    For those folks out there that are thinking of updating to GW801HP1 to fix soap issues, don't bother.
    The version of GMS I'm running is 8.0.104.4.

    I performed more testing and have decided to install Intellisync back on the workstations and kill GMS.

    Personally I think that the major issue with the POA and SOAP is GMS, I'm using several SOAP applications and the thing that creates most of the problems is GMS.
    Since Novell isn't developing anything for GMS, I believe they are trying to work out the SOAP problems at the POA level rather addressing the source of the issue which is GMS, most GW installations only deal with GMS so that's what the majority of admin's see it.

    Michael, thanks for the info.
    So do you think Novell will have the SOAP problems fixed in GW 9... This reminds of back in the '90's Novell claimed that they had the fastest Java server in production. To bad they didn't have any programmers that could write Java Code.
    I guess I won't be installing BES 5 when it comes out.
    Config:
    NetWare 6.5.8 Clusters with Protected Memory
    Problems:
    Sucks all the memory out of my servers.
    Worst it brings my servers up to 100% utilization.
    I do have maintenance. You're right do I need to create an incident so they can tell me that SOAP will be fixed in HP2, SP2, SP2HP1, SP2HP2, and so on.
    If throttling back my threads don't work here are my option may be loading the intellisync back on the workstations.

    You are pretty much stuck with SOAP with GMS, yes the trusted app API is there to handle authentication but other than that, that's all they wrote and will right for GMS.
    Get your SOAP fired up, in BES 5, it too will be all SOAP with no option for OAPI.
    What type of issues are you having, just running out of memory on POA? Are you running the POA on Netware or SLES? I'm running mine on NetWare with a few minor with about 1100 users on a single PO.
    How many GMS users do you have? One thing I found after new years day, my GMS wacked out the PO. Novell TAC & I never really figured out the problem however removing all the users from GMS fixed it (and letting them recreate themselves!) My GMS didn't appear to like the old inactive users esp the ones that existed in GMS but no longer were in eDir or GW.
    No real earth shattering news on how to run SOAP successfully with GW, the 100% utilization is a known problem. Do you have paid maint? I would open a incident with support but the story you will hear is that it's a known problem and will be fixed in SP2....
    Check your POA stats though web monitor, are your Soap threads not going idle? That's the problem I had, Soap thread would increase and REGARDLESS of how or few I allocated, the threads would not go idle and the server util would just keep rising including trying to unload the POA would lock the server up as it tried to release the threads.
    Hang in brother, I feel your pain.

    Can anybody throw some light on this error and how to solve it??
    Also, theres another issue.
    We are upgrading from Weblogic 7.2 to 9.1
    Earlier we were able to pass the request and get the response in HTTPUrl form but now after upgrading, its getting passed in SOAP format. Is there any way to bypass the SOAP and get it in HTTPUrl format or what are the configurations to be made to adapt to the SOAP format?
    connection =(HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
         This line was returning HTTPUrl format, now its coming in SOAP format

    your PostMethod takes the Url as the parameter. Check you are using the proper URl i.e like http://host:port/name?params like that

  • How Can I call a UCM service from SOAP request

    Hi,
    I have created one custom service and I would like to call that service from 3rd Party system via SOAP call. The 3rd Party system does not have the capability to call through RIDC.
    Now I have exposed my service and tried to call but authentication exception was coming status code 401.
    So I created one sample ADF application and tried to call the DocInfo service for testing (I thought let's try DocInfo then I will check my custom service). I downloaded the DocInfo service from UCM and  uploaded the WSDL into the project and got the client DocInfoSoapClient.java file.
    public class DocInfoSoapClient
      @WebServiceRef
      private static DocInfo docInfo;
      public static void main(String [] args)
        docInfo = new DocInfo();
        DocInfoSoap docInfoSoap = docInfo.getDocInfoSoap();
        DocInfoByNameResult res = docInfoSoap.docInfoByName("TEST_001603", null);
        System.out.println(res.getContentInfo());
        // Add your code to call the desired methods.
    The error is coming like:
    Exception in thread "main" com.sun.xml.ws.client.ClientTransportAccessException: The server sent HTTP status code 401: Unauthorized: http://xxxxxxxx:16200/_dav/cs/idcplg
      at com.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.client.HttpTransportPipe.getClientTransportException(HttpTransportPipe.java:340)
    I tried a lot but same error. There should be some process by which I can send the userid and password but failed. Even I tried to send the properties as key value pair in IdcPropertyList but I know that is wrong.
    I checked the Issue: https://community.oracle.com/thread/2424460
    But there was no answer.
    Can anyone help on it?
    Regards,
    Santanu

    Hi Santanu,
    You need to write SoapHandler in order to pass username and pwd. You will need 2 classes namely HeaderHandlerResolver & SoapHandler. This is how i do in in my JAX-WS clients. I generate stubs and then attach handler to webserviceinterface
    PFA HeaderHandlerResolver.java and SoapHandler.java you would attach soap handler something like this in your code i have never done this via ADF so not sure.
    HeaderHandlerResolver soapHandlerResolver = new HeaderHandlerResolver();
    docInfo.setHandlerResolver(soapHandlerResolver);
    In SoapHandler class you will mention username and pwd like this
    soapMessageContext.put(BindingProvider.USERNAME_PROPERTY,"username");
    soapMessageContext.put(BindingProvider.PASSWORD_PROPERTY,"pwd");

    Please do let me know soon .
    Thanks a lot

    Hi Ricardo ,
    I have the correct port now.
    the url looks like
    http://<host>:50000/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=:SIEBEL_DEV:SOAP_CUST
    when I am testing it in the XML spy. and send a soap server request. I am getting the popup for user authentication . once i put my user id it gives me a error saying
    <b>HTTP operation 'POST' could not be performed on URL
    '/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=:SIEBEL_DEV:SOAP_CUST&amp;version=3.0&amp;Sender.Service=SIEBEL_DEV&amp;Interface=http%3A%2F%2FOFCOM%2FUNIFY%2FCustomerMaster%5EMI_CUST'  due to an error :
    The connection to the server was terminated abnormally</b>
    Any Idea as to why is such a error is coming
    Thanks for the help
    Nikhil
