Soft brushes come with a hard edge...

Hi,
I have a problem with my brushes.... I tried to follow some tutorial, and probably messed it up somewhere along the road. The problem is that all my soft edge brushes now do not have a soft edge anymore, but just the ordinary hard edge. I've tried to reset the brushes but nothing works.
As you can see on the attached image, PS even says my brush has a soft edge, although it apparently doesn't.
Any ideas how I can solve this?

How the brush size is shown depends on the hardness and the Photoshop's preference settings. Jagged edges shown is normal when the brush hardness is low and you set the preference to show full brush size. If you have a tablet there are icon in the option bar that can change the brush hardness to be dynamic with pen pressure.

If you want an internal drive, go for the Time Capsule. It wouldn't make sense to launch two AirPorts that are the same but one does not include a hard drive even if it comes with the hard drive connector.
Another option you have is to connect an external hard drive to your AirPort Extreme

I have the latest version of flash and I was wondering if there is a way to use a soft brush to sketch out my animations. A friend of mine suggested to draw them on photoshop or illustrator and just import them to flash. Is there a way to just skip this and directly sketch out my drawing on flash using a soft brush instead of the hard one?

Hi!, Im not talking about loading it, what Ive noticed is that once the animation is loaded and added to the display list it doesnt perform well the firs time is rendered, and I want to know if there is a way to put that animation on cache before displaying it.

My husban raises the volume and as soon as he keys go if the button it immediately decreases. He had restarted several times and nothing changes. He has cleaned around the buttons with a soft brush.

Photoshop CS6 Soft Brush edge appears grainy

i hav been using PS cs6 for the last 1 month n hav never encountered any problems or errors, but today when i started to paint a problem for Soft Brushes is appearing..
it works fine for hard brushes, but when i switch to soft brush the edge of the soft brush appears grainy.. i hav reinstalled the software, but doesn't work...
i m using the same setting for CS5 and it works fine in PS cs5, don't know why suddenly this problem occured. (sys. config.: Win7 64bit, 1gb NVIDIA graphics card, 6GB ram, core i3 processor)

Look at your blending mode setting that is what doing it.....Its dissolving right before your eyes....

How do I write to my boot camp partition with Paragon NTFS that comes with Mountain Lion? Or how do I get my boot camp partition to show up in Paragon's "Available NTFS partitions:" panel like my external hard drive does?

I've just set up boot camp on my MacBookPro with a freshly installed Mountain Lion and Windows 7.
I would like to read and write in both directions from drive to drive if possible. I've hunted around quite a bit to try and work this out, and so far I understand that one can write to or transfer files from one drive to the other with Paragon NTFS among other softwares.
I noticed when I looked in my system preferences the utility "Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X" came with Mountain Lion and it will recognize an external hard drive when I have one plugged in under "Available NTFS partitions:". However, it does not automatically recognize my NTFS boot camp partition nor does it automatically give me write access.
Is the Paragon NTFS that comes with Mountain Lion limited in some way?
Do I still need to purchase and download the software of the same name from Paragon to get the full write privilidges I want or is there something I can do to get the version of Paragon on my MAC to recognize and give me write priviledges to my boot camp partition?
I'm open to all suggestions to get the read / write access between partitions in my boot camped drive.
MacFUSE is also listed in the System Preferences of my machine (it also came with Mountain Lion), if that helps. I'm still working out exactly what each of these is supposed to do and how I can use it to accomplish the task at hand.
My boot camp drive does appear normally in other contexts and in disk utility it indicates that the drive is mounted.

Interesting. Comes with? you didn't have either before? Paragon is commercial and is now v. 10.0, they were the only one keeping updated and was supporting 10.7.4. I would not enable more than one.
For writing to HFS Paragon has theirs but probably give the nod to MacDrive there.
I never do an upgrade to a new OS over the old system, I backup (clone) and format the drive with the new OS and do the install so whatever is there I know is clean and also to keep from carrying around leftovers from years and systems past.
I would assme Paragon is limited. Try their site and knowledge base?

TS1600 I received a 2008 Imac with erased hard drive. I have the two discs to install OS X but when it tries to boot just comes up Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer. Is there anything I can do to get this running

Well, Apple would probably point out that what you are trying to do violates the EULA.
Technically speaking, however, the issue is that the install/restore DVDs that ship with Macs do not carry all the drivers, or even all of the various versions of libraries that support all of the various models of Macs. The come-with-your-Mac disks are different than the retail versions of the OS (also, the come-with-your-Mac ones bundle iLife, which the retail ones don't).
Because the come-with-your-Mac disk contains only the drivers specific to that generation and model line of Mac, it contains a stub of code that verifies that your hardware matches the driver set on the install/restore DVD.
Your friend has a different model of Mac, with different hardware, so her install/restore disk won't work in yours. Solution: go get the retail boxed version of Leopard.

If you still have the receipt or other proof of purchase, you can ask Apple to send you the serial. Otherwise, bad luck mate.. Good news is, you can now buy Logic Pro 9 from App Store for just 199 USD

I am thing about purchasing a brand new Imac 27" 2.7. I do not want to spend the money now to have Apple add one at time of build but may want to add one down the road...is this possible? Apple will not do it for you however you may find AASP's that will. However remember these are not intended to be upgraded as you are suggesting. First aftermarket SSD's will not work correctly and may overheat the machine, next this may would void the warranty. I would recommend reading the warranty. There are those that will argue with me on this point however I like to error on the side or caution. If the warranty is of no value to you and you just want to save a few bucks you can ask a AASP to do it.
Another avenue to take and the one I'd recommend is buying a refurbished machine from Apple, they come with the same warranty as a new machine and some do have SSDs. You don't state where you are from but look at the online store for your country and you should find a section for iMac refurbs. There are many advantages to buying refurbs including saving money, getting a machine more thoroughly tested than new, warranty coverage and eligibility for AppleCare. In addition most people cannot tell a refurb from a new machine, the only difference to most is the box it ships in. One has colorful graphics the other is the same box and packaging sans graphics. The only downside I can really think of is you may not get the exact configuration you want. Most machines I've seen only have the SSD in them, I haven't seen any with SSD and HD in the refurb section. Not a big deal, just buy FW800 or Thunderbolt EHD and you have a nice solution. Others assume the machine was refurbished because it was flawed in some fashion, that isn't necessarily the case and if it was it was fixed and retested. Machines enter the refurb program for a variety of reasons, last years model, wife makes a husband return an expensive toy, changed his mind and bought a MacBook Pro instead etc.....
If you really want a new one with an SSD I'd just save a few more bucks and get what you want.

Soft Brush Problem in Photoshop CS3 - edges of brush show pink banding

This is my first post but I am a relatively seasoned photoshop user. When using a soft brush for anything (coloring or masking) I am getting lines and hard edges around the outer perimeter of the brush edges. For example, if I use a 600 pxl brush set to 0% hardness and start to paint on a white background, the color at the outer edges of the paint looks pinkish and it looks like there is actually a slightly pinkish hard edge where the outermost edge of the paint stops. It should just disappear into complete transparency but I am getting this weird edge.
This is happening out of nowhere too. I have been working on this machine for at least a year with the same monitor and everything. It just started happening yesterday for no apparent reason. I tried re-installing CS3 and it didn't help. I tried resetting my preferences when starting up photoshop and that didn't help either. I have not made any changes whatsoever to my monitor settings since day one and up until now it has been working beautifully.
I am on a Mac - G5 2x3.2 Ghz Quad core processors, 8 Gb of Ram. Nvidia G-Force 8800 GT graphics card, Brand new 24" flat panel LCD set to show colors in millions... also set to Cinema HD mode which was the default setting that it was set to.
This is happening regardless of color mode - RGB or CMYK and regardless of bits per channel 8 vs 16 vs 32. Files I work on are set up at 300dpi usually in CMYK mode. It happens regardless of whether shape dynamics/smoothing/etc (brush presets) are turned on or off.
I would be happy to send anyone that can help a screenshot of what I am talking about. Please help!!!

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I really appreciate it. This has been a bit frustrating because no one else can see the issue but me I suppose. I just don't know why my monitor would change all of the sudden for no reason. I know all monitors eventually go bad but this one is only a year old and looks beautiful in every other way. No other problems with any other programs or anything. The overall color, brightness, contrast, etc are still amazing.
It is still covered under the warranty so I can take it in to the Apple store to see if they can find an issue with it. I will be sure to let you guys know what they say. I have seen this same issue on 2 other forums on other sites - one person said that after exhausting all possibilities he determined that the issue was with photoshop. The other person was getting responses back from people telling her to add noise to her files to improve the banding, which is not really a solution to the root of the problem.
Hopefully, if it is a monitor issue, recallibrating will fix the problem. I did, however, go through the callibrator assistant found in system preferences and it didn't help. Also tried to adjust the "Edit" - "Colors" setting within photoshop and that didn't help either.
Both of the Adobe support specialists that I talked to were stumped. They said that the only 2 things they could think of were the monitor or maybe the graphics card gone bad.
Anyway, thank you all again for your help. I have never used this forum before having this issue and I want to say that I really appreciate all of you stepping up to help me with my problem in such a prompt and helpful manner.

I got these instructions from others;
If you open the Preset Tab of Preferences, you should see a button near the
bottom that says Restore Local Adjustment Presets. Try clicking that.
OR,
Installing 2.5 should not affect your presets. I still have mine. That
said, Soften Skin is simply a preset that comes installed by default.
The settings are:
Clarity = -100
Sharpness = 25
Everything else set to 0
If you have presets that are not showing you can check Edit >
Preferences > Presets and see if Store Presets with Catalog is checked.
If it is, uncheck and restart Lightroom to see if that brings them back.
Otherwise you can just create a new preset with the above settings.

Make Selection Hard-Edged by Default

Hey,
Is there any way to make a marquee selection to be hard-edged by default?
I am selecting and copy/pasting some parts of the image and saving those parts as new images. The problem is those pieces become semi-transparent around the edges.
I found this post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2797143#2797143 that mentions Adjustments -> Threshold.
The solution it offers works fine, and I am wondering if there's a way to make the selection hard-edged by default instead of having to go through all those steps over and over again for every selection :/

I think it's because I am using Select->Transform Selection.
I created an action to adjust the threshold and assigned it to F12 key and pressing it is a painless way to make the selection hard-edged
