i cant seem to download games it says i need ios software and im new to this can someone help pls

Your ipod cannot update to the newest ios,
They have done this so people will have to buy new devices to play the newest games.
If you want to play the newest games you have the buy an ipod 4g or 5g.
Your ipod cannot run higher than ios 4.2.1
The newest ios is ios 6.2.1
But this is not available for your ipod 2g

There aren't much apps working on ipod 2/ ios 4.2.1. So you have to look in the description if its working on ipod 2

I find it very messed up that Apple is inputting these restrictions, because they want people to buy the latest versions of their gadgets. There is nothing unusual about this at all.
As with any tv, computer, dvd player, car,etc the older hardware is simply not capable of running the latest software.
This is normal.
The second gen was released over 4 years ago.

Like any other device that uses software, the older hardware cannot run the newest software.
This is completely normal in every way.
You do not have to buy every year. The 3rd gen was released two and a half years ago and can run ios 5.

Corrupt backup for ipod touch 2nd generation

Hi, so i have an ipod touch 2nd gen and when i try to backup it says It cannot backup because the backup is corrupt. I have the current version of everything. I have deleted the backups in preferences and I cannot locate appdata or apple computer anywhere in my libraries or computer.

Do you have show hidden files turned on like Apple says:

Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

Repeat option on playlists for ipod touch 2nd generation

I want to know how ton get my ipod touch to repeat the playlist so that once the last song on the playlist ends it will just start from the beginning of the playlist? I was able to do it for other ipods in the past such as ipod video 5th generation and ipod nano 2nd generation

If you know the answer to a question why waste sometimes time by posting a download link??? Anyway, all you have to do is hit the the repeat button once during a song in your playlist and the playlist will play through and then repeat, if you hit it twice the current song will repeat.

Why isn't 4.3 available for Ipod Touch 2nd Generation?

I bought the 8G IPod Touch for my daughter as a Xmas present in November 2009. Now, less than 18 months later, I understand that Apple is refusing to provide the most up to date software version (ios 4.3) for this version of their product.
I would like to know from people who know the right answers:
i) whether this is correct
ii) whether there is any technical constraint in this model that prevents 4.3 running on this model
iii) whether Apple plan to provide any of the features of this upgrade in future software releases, particularly the Home Sharing function.
iv) whether this is simply a blatant attempt to force people to update their hardware?

Apple only keeps iOS updates available to the current and previous generation devices. Part of this is due to older models may not be able to deal with all the features of a new iOS. I believe it is a blatant attempt to get people to upgrade, but wait until the holiday season before upgrading because this is when Apple tends to start sale of the next gen iPods.

Skype for ipod touch 2nd generation

Hello, I am wondering if there is some way you can bring back skype for 2nd generation ipod touches. I know a large portion of the ipod users have a 2nd generation ipod touch. It would make this large group of people happy. I know it used to work for this ipod, but then you updated the skype app. This would increase the number of app downloads significantly.

Son has an ipod touch, FIRST gen. I mean "old." Found Skype 3.0.1 and he's up and running again.
Steps:
1. Open your Recycle Bin and locate older versions of skype
2. Drag older versions to your desktop
3. Using File Manager, go to c:\Users\[UserName]\MyMusic\iTunes\iTunesMedia\Mobile Applications (yours may be different; this is mine)
4. Drag your newest version of skype to your Desktop
5. Drag the newest 'old version' of skype to the Mobile Applications folder
6. Double click the old version which is now in your Mobile Applications folder. You will receive a warning message that you are overwriting another version. Click ok.
7. Go to iTunes and try to install Skype on your device. If it intalls, great. If not, you need to repeat this process with an older 'older version.'
8. When you get it installed, you can delete the old version from you Mobile Applications and replace it with the newsest version. iTunes will not update the ap on your old device because it knows it can't. If you have multiple devices in the house, people with newer 'stuff' get the latest version. People with older 'stuff' now have the older stuff.

The 2G iPod can ony go as high as iOS 4.2.1.
To get there you need iTunes 10 or later on the computer and you update via iTunes.

Nowhere. If you manage to find one, iTunes won’t allow it to be installed, and if you somehow bypass that, the device won’t activate.

What exactly happens when you try to update the iPod? What does the error message say?
