Solid 3d issue

I have been following a tutorial using the camera with some text to create a 3 D effect but I had the following issue. I create a comp
I created a solid and added a ramp gradient for my background
I created a camera layer
I created a null object and parented the camera to it - turned on 3d
I created a text layer - turned on 3d
When I change my camera view the ramp effected solid disappears and the comp background shows.
If I toggle the transparency then there is no background at all.
If i use 3d mode on the solid I can see it but I don't want the solid to be 3d I want it to be 2d like the comp background Where am I going wrong? I noticed that in the tutorial when he created the comp there was no choice in his settings to choose a colour. Maybe older versions didnt automatically create a background??  If I cant keep my solid background layer in 2d then how do I add a ramp to the comp background?     Cheers

When I change my camera view the ramp effected solid disappears and the comp background shows.
This is the normal and proper behavior. Your 2D layers only show up under Active Camera or Camera. The other views, Front, Top, Custom, are only there to aid in positioning layers in 3D space. These other views won't render, but they will ram preview so many inexperienced users will set up a project using one of the custom views and then wonder why the rendered movie doesn't look like their project.
Only the Active camera renders. From one of these other views you can look at each camera and each layer in your composition but you won't see the 2D layers at all.
Only the top camera in the timeline will be the Active Camera and that's the only view that will render when you output your movie. You can cut between cameras by adjusting the in and out point of the camera layers.
Custom view 1 shows both cameras. Camera 2 is the blue one (you can change the color of your wireframes). Camera one is the orange one. Only Camera 2 will render, but I can select Camera one and see the 2D gradient background.
But only the active camera will render so my completed project will look like this:
You can see the gradient behind the floor that I added to the comp to give a sense of reality to the 3D text layer. I have view camera wireframes set to always on in the View Options because that's the way I prefer to work. The wireframes won't render, or ram preview.

  • Re-installing Audio Driver

I recently purchased a new dynadock (model # - dynadock PA3927U-1PRP dynadock U3.0).  During the setup, I received a notice that both the audio and Ethernet drivers had not installed.  Obviously, my dynadock audio has not been working.  I visited the Toshiba trouble shooting site and although it provided information on my current issues:
    1. No Toshiba USB Display DriversThere entity in my "Program and Features"
    2. Device Manager lists my dynadock with a yellow exclamation point
    3. "Sound" in my Control Panel only shows one playback device
So while the site was helpful in identifying my problem, there is NO information on how to reinstall the audio drivers. Appreciate any help this board could provide.  Thanks!

I too had many... many... problems with installing the dynadock software drivers.  I started when I received a new Toshiba Tecra R940 laptop.  I pulled the installed 7200 RPM drive and installed a solid state drive.  This was not the issue, but it meant I needed to install windows from scratch, and there lied the problem.  I had no preinstalled drivers and to hunt them down was a pain.  Net... Net... Since I was not able to get all the Toshiba drivers installed successfully, combined with the already painful issues with the dynadock, I reinstalled the 7200 RPM hard drive with all the preloaded software. Once I did that I was close.  The installation CD that came with the dynadock was a joke. I needed to reload the latest driver from Toshiba which did get the display and USB ports operational.  Next I read this post and navigated to the link provided and installed dynadock LAN and Audio Drivers V2.6.1.1, making sure I OLNY checked the Network and Audio to install.  As I already had the display drivers install at version diaplylink 7.1 I did not want to add to the problem.  From windows 7 driver manager, I still noted the network and audio was highlighted in yellow (disabled).  So I clicked on the Update Driver and had windows search by C:\ drive (root C:\ and not the web).  Windows found a gigabit speed network driver and the audio, presumably from the earlier driver install.  Once Windows installed these drivers, I re-booted and all is good. Maybe I'll tackle the solid state issue after I image my drive now that all is working.
    Thank you for your help.

As a closing note:  Toshiba Help Desk is worthless!!!  When I did call (several times) I finally got someone that sounded like India support.  I waited for about 45 minutes listening to music before a person finally picked up. He took my name, and I provided information on what the issue was.  Next he set the phone down and all I could hear was this guy talking with his buddies (sounded like a party) and he "never" picked back up. After 15-20 minutes of this I hung up.

  • 3.1.1 problem carried over to 3.1.2

    hi guys,
I am having an issue with album art displaying properly on (now) 3.1.2. All of the album art is properly set in each file and is displayed properly both in itunes and when you turn the ipod touch sideways for coverflow view. however, in list view when i select either artist or album only some albums do not display the art. rather than the normal "no album art for this file" type image, its just a blank. when i play the album, the art is displayed properly on the screen but still will not display in the list. any suggestions?

    this is odd,
mostly i have the sounds disabled, i just checked and they were all turned on and set to speaker. i tried typing and there was no sound, i switched it to headphones and there was sound. then i turned them off and it made all sorts of sounds, then turned them back on and the sounds went away, off again the sounds played then turned off.
*** has apple done to our devices?
i dont really care about the sounds that much but that seems to be another bug in a LONG list of bugs, 3.0 was running solid, no issues for me at all, how could they have destroyed it so much within 2 updates. this makes no sense.

  • CF builder 1 Vs CF builder 3

CF builder 1 Vs CF builder 3
Hi I just upgrade my Flash builder to 4.7 version and I'm thinking to upgrade my Cold Fusion builder from version 1 to version 3.
I have never used Cold Fusion builder in the past and I thought I will start using it now.
Should I upgrade to version 3?
What are the difference between version 1 and version 3?
    Thanks in advance.

For one thing, CFBuilder 3 actually works.   Seriously, CFBuilder 1 should have been considered a beta release, it had so many problems.  In contrast, CFBuilder 3 is solid; the issues with performance (speed) and glitchiness (bugs, bugs, bugs) have been addressed.  I enjoy working in it now.

  • 3560s Letting me Down!

We had a new network installed around march. To save money, we used the catalyst Express 500s. We setup Cisco phones as well. 7 buildings, all connected with fiber. The data was rock solid, no issues at all, but the phones were another matter, very unstable. So we upgraded to 3560s. Now we are having the opposite problem, the phones are rock solid, but the data is not very dependable. In particular, we have two servers that are connected to different swithces, and the users continue to get disconnected from the siwtches. I have tried hard coding the speed and duplex, and replaced NIC cards and cables. Things go great for a week, and then trouble starts building slowly, and then it gets to the point where people are dropped every 10 or 15 minutes.
    Could really use some help!

Thanks Jack for all the questions! My VAR is coming in today, and we plan to open a case with TAC. I will try to answer your questions:
Have not tried pinging from .4 to other hosts and/or clients, but will try. Good idea!
Have tried another physical port on the same switch, no change. There are no errors showing up on the port on the switch that has the server.
I have tried pings from a client on sw2 (ME!) to .4, and the results are fairly predictable, almost all get answered, when they don't, that's when the server "disappears" and we lose connectivity. I am going to double check this today. sw2 is a 3560G with 4 ports of fiber, each fiber goes to a different building (most of my buildings only have 5 or 10 users). Also on this switch is CCM and Unity (voicemail). The swithc's CPU doesn not appear to be busy, but just wondering.
Have tried new NIC, new cable on the server. Generally, the server is less than 5% utilized,m peak of maybe 18%. Not very busy.
I thank everyone on here for suggestions and ideas!! I hope to get this solved ASAP. I am supposed to be on vacation this week...and I am at work!!!
Here is what I would like to do, and maybe some of it doesn't even matter:
I want to change my DHCP server from a 2801 to a Windows 2003 box. Just me, it's easier to change and manage, I think. Maybe you all will tell me diff.
I want to change my data VLAN from 1 to 10 or something else. Even though TAC says it won't make a diff, I want to do it.
I want to change my network #ing scheme from 192,168.1.x to 192.168.10.x. The 1.x is too easy for problems, as almost all wireless switches and such not come up in the 1.x range.
If anyone can think of anything else, I would love to hear it!

I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well. However, itunes can not do anything with the phone because the phone is locked and I can not unlock the phone because the screen is black.
    >CURVEBALL!!!<
The screen does work though! Through trial and error along side a little troubleshooting, I was able to figure out that the screen will cut on after the phone dies completely. The phone has to die completely with no battery power left. Then if I plug the phone into a charge and wait a while for it to charge, the phone will turn on like nothing was ever even wrong with it. I charge the phone up to like 30% and turn it off then bam the phone turns on but the screen is solid black again.
I am currently in the process of waiting for the phone to die and when I turn the phone back on I am going to completely remove the auto-lock and lock code off of the phone for the time being.
    Any other suggestions? Please help!

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

  • Issues when installing Windows XP on a PXI-8108 with a Solid State HDD

    Hi,
I have been assisting a client with installing Windows XP onto a PXI-8108 controller.  They have replaced the default HDD with a solid-state HD.
We have attempted to run the System Recovery CD.  The recovery part works fine, ie. you select Acronis, it unzips all the files to C drive.
However when it gets up to the bit where Win XP Setup starts (after rebooting once the Recovery section completes), we have issues.
It can't find files, ie. dmconfig.dll, gm.dls, etc on the Win XP CD.  When it tries to find mfc40u.dll, it came up with an error:
"The file Setup placed on your hard drive is not a valid Win XP System image.  If you are installing from a CD, there may be a problem with the Windows XP CD."
We have tried two different recovery CDs, and we even tried just a plain Win XP CD.  All had similar issues.
We have tried different SATA settings in the BIOS - both IDE AND AHCI.
It may just be that we have a faulty SSD, however it seemed to work ok when we had it connected to the PXI via USB (with the default HDD still in place).  I was able to run diskcheck, which did not bring up any errors.  Disk Management showed things were healthy.
So what I would like to know, is if there is any issue with a PXI-8108, and SSDs?  We have successfully performed this operation a few months back using the same brand of SDD, but with a PXI-8104.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

This is more than likely a failing disk.  SSDs don't always report failures in the same way as a rotating drive.  Also, the tools that are helpful with diagnosing rotating drive failures don't always work with SSDs.
From the thread, it sounds like you have another system with this same SSD and it is working properly.  Does that system have the same PXI Controller and Chassis?
I have seen these types of errors if the media for the OS installation is corrupt, but it sounds like you have tried different CDs.
I realize you have limited access to this drive, but here are my recommendations:
    1)  Put the failing SSD in a different system (desktop is preferable), and install a base version of XP.  If this fails, RMA the drive, they normally have 3-5 warranties.
    2)  Run Crystal Mark Info and check for SMART failures:
    http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html
    3)  You can securely erase the SSD, which is not for the faint of heart.  This will restore the drive to a new condition.  If the drive has a bad cell which is causing data corruption during the OS install, securely erasing the drive will hopefully cause the firmware to map out the bad areas.  This is a good tutorial, just ignore that fact that it is targeted at Intel drives.

It will not turn back on and I noticed when plugged in the little light on the power cord is blinking orange, not a solid green like normal.  Anyone have this issue before?  I've only had this for about 3mos.  I called apple support. They tried one thing then said I have to take to the apple store. Unfortunately I don't have one nearby. So before I travel an hour+ away I thought is give it a shot on here. Thank.

  • Solid State Hard Drive Issues.....

    Hello.
I had a Sattelite P-500 built by Toshiba last spring & it's beginning to give me trouble. It is a dual hard drive model, one 60 gig solid state & a 500 gig storage drive. My problem is that all but less than 1 gig is used up on the solid state drive, yet when I add up everything shown on the drive it comes to just under 29 gig. However on the "Computer" screen, the one that shows the different drives & devices, it shows that I have just  856 MB of 46.8 available on this drive. Also, when I run the onboard diagnostic tool, I get a "fail" on the hard drive.
    Any help will be appreciated

I called the Toshiba supprot line & the woman whom I spoke with, which I could barely understand, was less than helpful. Her only "advice" was to run the recovery disc & start over. When asked if this issue would return, she had no answer.
Somehow my 60 gig c drive is loading itself up. Why can't I see the extra space being swallowed up here?
Seems to be a LOT of very smart computer savvy people on this forum, could someone please help me out with this?

  • CS5 Illustrator Pantone+Solid Coated library issue

    Hello everyone,
    I have a problem with CS5 Pantone+Solid Coated library.
In CS4 this library contained Spot CMYK colors.
In CS5 these colors are Spot LAB and darker.
Does anyone has the same problem?
    Thanks

When I pick some PMS Coated color, in Color Panel last simbol is LAB.
In Color Swatches I can change one by one colors to CMYK mode, but they are the same dark.
The root issue is when I open Panton+Solid Coated menu - the colors are presented in LAB mode and they are darker then usial.
In CS4 this library was presented in CMYK mode and colors were right.
In CS5 these right colors are in Panton Solid to Process menu and if I create new artwork I pick colors from here.
But when I open old file (where colors are Pantone Solid Coated from CS4) they pick the colors from CS5 Panton Colid Coated menu and changed to darker colors.

  • Solid State Drive Issue on Macbook pro mid 2012 extremely slow

I recently purchased a Corsair Force LS solid state drive and installed it on my laptop. The hard drive is extremely slow and I cant even install Yosemite on it. It's stuck at the installation screen and kept showing the remaining wait time is 12 mins. I left it over night but it's still stuck there. I thought the hard drive was defective so I returned and bought a Kingston ssd. I put it back in and have the same issue. I also bought the Hard Drive Caddy tray to replace the optical drive with the ssd. The hard drive works like charm when I swapped it with the optical drive. I was able to install Yosemite on it and works like charm. However, When I put it back to the hard drive slot. I was able to boot into Yosemite but It is extremely slow. I called apple and they said that they don't support that. It is so weird. I don't know what to do now

  • ASUS P6X58D Memory OK (MEMOK!) issue  DRAM LED Stays solid red.

    HI
This morning when I turned on my computer, it would not boot. Not even the most basic boot (I could not get to the ASUS bio DOS screen, for example).   It would only sound  one beep, and then finally a second beep-- but the second beep did not sound immediately thereafter. .  Usually, I recall, I hear two rapid beeps almost immediatley when I boot up.
I did some checking on the net.  It appears to be a memory issue. I reset my memory in their slots. But that did not help.
I saw the on the ASUS motherboard the DRAM LED light was solid red.  After checking the manual (and checking some YouTube videos), I pressed the MEMOK! button right next to the DRAM LED light.
According to the manual, when using WIndows OS  the system will reboot as it does its "Flashing lights" test to try to use a memory failsafe setting.  However, even after reboot the red light stayed solid and appeared not to do the testing.
Perhaps I am not doing the test correctly.  For example, do I keep my finger on the MEMOK! button throughout the tests and reboots??  Or just press once, and never press it again.
ASUS USA support appears to be closed today for the New Year's holiday.  So I am wondering if anyone here has some suggestions.  My memory was working fine up until this morning.
I suppose I could wait until tomorrow when ASUS phone support is live again, but thought someone might have some suggestions / tests I can do today.
    Thanks
    Rowby

    Well I fixed it.
Not sure exactly what I did that fixed it, but here is what I did.
    1)  I unplugged the computer.
    2)  I disconnected the power supply from the motherboard.
    3)  I removed the battery.
    4)  I let it sit for about an hour.
    5)  I pushed the motherboard reset button on the back of my computer (I perhaps should have done this first, but I did it.)
    6)  I put a new battery into the motherboard (perhaps the old one was dead or a zombie.)
    7)  I reconnected the power supply to the mother board.
    8)  I plugged in the box.
    9)  I heard the familiar two beeps, and sure enough the unit booted up.
Upon bootup the ASUS screen had me to into bios and double check everything.   Then it all rebooted again, and opened windows 7.
I will make sure I have the lastest ASUS bios.  But I see that it is recognizing all 24 GB of memory, so I guess I am good to go.

I have an A11 PTSE0A-088021 and am attempting to install a Kingston 64GB SSHD.
When I boot it is displayed in the POST and also in BIOS.

Are there controller drivers required for this drive? Toshiba hardware or Kingston?
Does anyone know of a controller driver needed as I have searched the web and cannot find controller driver for this drive.

The problem I have is the solid state drive that works in my 13in does not work in the 17in
It works fine in an external case and in 13in but not 17in
I have tried reformatting it and installing a new system. Nothing works... after a few minutes all I get is the wheel of death and the laptop crashes.
I am assuming the laptop is faulty as I can't fault the solid state drive which is a OWC Mercury EXTREME Pro 6G SSD

My understanding is that the new macbook pro shipped with lion. And the only OS that will work on it is lion. The earlier ones that had the option of snow leopard could be set to run the older OS even if lion was installed. BUt not now. You still have the other hard drive with lion on it I hope. You might be able to make a clone of the lion hard drive and get it to install on the solid state drive. Someone on the discussions site should be able to tell you how.
