SolMan BPM question

Hi all,
We are piloting a BPM solution, focusing on the Order to Cash process. We have experimented with different BPM monitoring types on various business process steps, ie. under Sales Order Management, we have configured dialog performance monitoring on the "Create Sales Order" process step, which allows us to set thresholds for monitoring response time on transaction VA01.
Our organisation uses a common production landscape across Europe, but each country subsidiary is responsible for their own business processes. Each country has a unique set of Org Level Values, i.e. Company Code, Sales Org, etc.
We would like to setup BPM to monitor down to the level of Sales Org or Document type, so that for example, we could configure monitoring on a business process step for each subsidiary, therefore the alerts and notifications generated once the thresholds are surpassed could be sent directly to the relevant subsidiary.
Is it possible to configure BPM to monitor something like the number of open sales orders or number of Sales Orders with delivery block under a specific Sales Org?
Any pointers on how to target the monitoring to this level would be much appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
John

Hi JD
As you might know, Solution Manager BPMon has different type of monitoring objects like
technical monitoring and application monitoring.
Dialog performance is categolized as technical monitoring. And open sales order, sales order with delivery block are categolized as application monitoring.
For technical monitoring, generally it focuses on technical point. So you cannot specify the performance for certain organization. (You can specify application server, type of response time like response time, db time , frontend time, and transaction code. Or user )
On the other hand, for application monitoring, generally you can specify organization data.
So  for the key figures that you mentioned ( open sales order and order with delivery block you can specify following of monitoring object sales order), you can specify following point for data collection.
-open orders.
Sales Doc. Type
Sales Org.
Dist. Channel
Division
Sales Group
Created by
Older than x days
Use creation date
-order with delivery bloc
Sales Doc. Type
Sales Org.
Dist. Channel
Division
Sales Group
Created by
Older than x days
Use creation date
*You can check more detail inforamtion in your BPMon session by selecting corresponding monitoring objects belongs to application monitor.
And most of the application monitor's monitoring objects and its key figure(with selection criteria), you can check  from T-CD ST13(TBI reports) in your satellite system.
Addtionally, I also recommend you to check following documents for more better understanding on solman BPMon.

    1. How to filter out instances from BPM engine?
This isn't usually done. Can you tell us why you would like to do that? If you're talking about filtering instances from you're inbox view, then just click on "show filter". You should also be aware that process variables can be exposed to the workspace and added to columns in the inbox view. You can then filter based on these variables. For example, let's say region is a process variable. Region can be shown in the inbox view and filtered for say all regions in the northwest.
    2. How to use external jar file in BPM?
In studio, right click on external resources and select Java Class Library. Then create a name for this external resource and add the jar file (or list of files) to the resource. Click on okay. This will take you to another wizard that will allow you to select which methods you wish to expose. These java objects can now be use as instance or process variables. They can be used as containers of information and/or processes methods.
    3. How BPM is related to SOA?
I think BPM is an extension of SOA and a part of it. SOA is about ways to architect and govern enterprise architectures to make business services catalog-able, and re-usable in a enterprise. BPM is about process automation. Likewise it is a way to implement business process and provide architectures and governance to control them. I like to divide up things that are process based versus service based. And now it's a matter of comparison. It's like comparing systems and subsystems or tools and machinery. It's all about the scope of effort and how it impacts an organization. Each comes with a different tool-kit of overlapping values.
    4. What are the limitation of a 'process as service'?
Since we're in the Oracle BPM forum, I'll assume you're referring to the Oracle BPM product. Process as a service is somewhat limited in functionality. You only expose a few things from the process as a web service. You can kick off a new work item and interact with it through notifications. PAPI and PAPI-WS is a more versatile tool. Just about anything you can do from the workspace you can do through PAPI.
    5. Diff between BPEL and BPM?
One is a standard and the other the implementation of the standard.

  • BPM question

I am new to BPM and trying out a scenario.  I have a few questions regarding the way that BPM works.
I understand that BPM can only work with abstract message types.  So lets say that I wanted to take an IDoc and run it through a BPM to split it into different messages and then process them in a certain order.  Does that mean that I first have to make individual maps for each message type (abstract) that I want to work with in BPM?
To put this in another way, it seems to be the case that XI can't simply bring an outbound message into XI and stick it straight into the BPM process.  It seems as though first the outbound message must be mapped and transformed into abstract messages before it can enter the BPM.  In this case, how does the transformation step in BPM play in?
Could someone clear this process up for me?  I looked at a few weblogs and documents but I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around the process from a high level.

    Hi Ethan
The abstract interfaces are used when Message Interface doesn't have a defined direction (it is possible to be used in both directions, outbound/inbound).
You must create a Message Mapping for each type of message:
    1- IDOC - MT1
    2- IDOC - MT2.....
and you must create a Interface Mapping "MultiMapping". Into BPM, a transformation step associated to this Interface Mapping "MultiMapping".

  • Solman SR3 - Questions

    Dear all,
I have just started installation of Solman SR3 in HPUX/oracle 10g. I have few basic questions
    1. When I start the installation from the installation master, the check box for unicode system (recommended) is by default enabled, when I try to uncheck the box it is not allowing since it is checked and grayed out? does that mean it will install unicode version?
    2. Also I only need to install ABAP stack for solman, we don't want to have AS Java. But there is no option in SR3 to install ABAP alone? does solman needs to have both the stacks?
    Thanks
    Senthil

    1. When I start the installation from the installation master, the check box for unicode system (recommended) is by default enabled, when I try to uncheck the box it is not allowing since it is checked and grayed out? does that mean it will install unicode version?
Yes - because non-Unicode installations are deprecated and shouldn´t be installed any more.
    2. Also I only need to install ABAP stack for solman, we don't want to have AS Java. But there is no option in SR3 to install ABAP alone? does solman needs to have both the stacks?
SolMan is ABAP + Java by definition, you can´t separate them (unfortunately).

  • BPM question - Delete all entries in a table and Insert data

    Hello,
I'm new to PI BPM and have this scenario to implement.
I'm supposed to delete all entries in a table and then insert data to the same table.
Is BPM necessary? If it is, what is the best practice to implement my scenario?
I want to make sure that all entries were successfully deleted before insert data.
How do I check if all entries in the table were deleted successfully before
    initiating insert.
    Thank you.
    -Won

    Hi Won,
Yes, this is possible without BPM.
You have to create 2 separate mappings, each for deleting & inserting the records.
You will have 2 different Interface mappings as well.
But in ID, create a single interface determination.
In that, configure Deletion interface mapping first and in the second row, configure Insertion interface mapping.
Please make sure that the parameter 'Mainain Order At runtime' is checked in interface determination.

  • BPM Question on Acknowledgment use

    Hi all,
I have a problem in this scenario:
IDOC--> XI --> BPM (Send message with Acknowledgment to Jdbc Adapter) ---> Update SQL Database.
The process start correctly but when it arrive to Send Step the update database work fine but the process remain in wait for Acknowledgment response but the adapter don't sent to BPM Acknowledgment status.
How can I do to resolve this problem????
    Thanks in advance,
           Michele.

    Hi Michele,
If the database app is sending back the response to XI, then you have redesign your process to make it synchronous in order to capture the response coming back from the application.
Currently in XI30 BPM you can do this with ASYNC-SYNC Bridge design.

  • BPM Question: JDBC Sender to RFC to JDBC Receiver

    I have the following requirement:
JDBC Sender Adapter (by nature Asynchronous) – SELECT multiple rows from a table
    To…
    RFC Receiver Adapter (Synchronous)
    To…
JDBC Receiver Adapter (Synchronous) – UPDATE multiple rows in a table
    Then…
IF <SAP:Error> XML is returned from the JDBC Receiver Adapter, I want to either issue a CCMS alert, or utilize the XI Email Adapter for error notification.
ELSE, if <root_response> XML is returned from the JDBC Receiver Adapter, do nothing.
This obviously requires a BPM.  If I use the JDBC Receiver Adapter Asynchronously (with no error handling) this is a piece of cake.  But after trying to use it synchronously along with error handling logic, I am stuck.
This issue that I am facing is how to logically handle the JDBC Receiver Adapter Response XML in the BPM.  I would like to know what I need to do in the BPM in order to issue a CCMS alert (and/or send a message through the XI Email Adapter) ONLY if the <SAP:Error> XML is returned.
Below are examples of the 2 types of response messages that I would receive back from the JDBC Receiver:

    Hi,
In ur BPM wrap the jdbc send step with a exception block. in the exception block define a control step to throw an alert.
so when the jdbc step fails, the exception is caught and an alert is generated by the control step.
    cheers,

  • Another BPM question...  SOAP-XI-IDOC with ALEAUD Idoc

    Hi,
Have a few problems with this BPM.
1- I'm testing my scenario with XMPSpy and when I look at my message in SXMB_MONI, I see the inbound message with the SOAP envelop in one long string.  Usually I don't see it and I think this is why my mapping is not working? Do I need to do something special to not see the message with the SOAP envelop? For this, I didn't setup the SOAP as a sender, I only created a web service.
2-  The IDoc is being sent to R/3 (not mapped properly because of #1 I think) but the ALEAUD is not sent back to XI.  I don't see it as an outbound in R/3 (we05).  I did look at the (How to handle Ack for Idoc) but no help.  What are the steps that I need to do in R/3 to get the ALEAUD to be sent back to XI?  Is the problem with XI or R/3?
    What I did so far:
1- Did the setting in my BPM to get an ACK back after sending the Idoc to R/3 (acknowledgement = application)
2- ALE settings in R/3 for outbound ALEAUD
3- I guess my next challenge will be to within the same BPM to link back the ALEAUD back form R/3 to the response of my SOAP call. Right now i get Pipeline timeout condition satisfied.  There are  a few messages on this subject but i don't think this was ever done successfully?  Any help you be appreciated for this.
    Rgds,
    Yves

Very foggy description Do you send request directly to PIPLINE ... ?
You should generate the SOAP request based on webservice deifintion (WSDL) e.g. via XMLSpy and you should send it to SOAP sender channel in AE.The payload of your inbound message should be exactly like the one you send from XMLSpy.

  • A BPM Question

I want to develop a simple BPM example. In My scenario the input will be a File which has some data in it. The output should go to 3 different files. These output files generation is based on particular field in the input file structure. Input file will contain the customers from 3 different cities and output should generate 3 separate files for 3 cities.
Any ideas as how I develop this interface using BPM?
My Idea is ReceiveStep ---> loop (for number of records in a file) ---> ContainerOperation (which assigns city value to a variable) ---> fork (for 3 cities)
does this sound ok or am I missing anything?

These output files generation is based on particular field in the input file structure. Input file will contain the customers from 3 different cities and output should generate 3 separate files for 3 cities.
    >>>>
    a simple flow;
    try this
Recv -> Fork -> N branches (a transformation step based on the city for each branch) -> send step for each branch.
but if you need to make it condition based, you can employ a XPATH in your recv. det. too.

  • BPM Question (File - XI - File )

I have a typical situation where I like to make use of the BPM functionality.
    I have 7 different Files( FileA,FileB,FileC,FileD,FileE,FileF,FIleG)
I need to start BPM when File A arrives.
Aftger FileA arrives, I need to get all remaining 6 files. I need to send these 6 files to ftp server on 3rd party application. These 6 files may or may not be there. If Files are not there I should ignore.
Once all 6 files sent to ftp folder
    I have to send FileA.
Then I have to trigger a SOAP message on 3rd party application.
    Get the SOAP response
Send the SOAP response via email to User.
I dont have to transform files. They can be sent as is.
Will someone give me a optimum solution for this situation..
    Thank you for your time..

    Hi,
You will need Deadline Monitoring for your scenario.
    1. Receive File A
    2. In a block , with deadline montiroing , receiver rest of files
    3. Send Step to send the files.
    4. Send Synch SOAP request
    5. Map the SOAP response to the Mail.

  • XI BPM questions~

    Dear Pals:
I had read some BPM introduction already,
    But still got some problems~
The BPM "Block" has a properties Mode, and it got 3 values.
    1.Default
    2.ParForEach
    3.ForEach
    what are those for?
and what's Multiline Element & Current Line for?
Is there any step by step guide can show me some examples of BPM functionality?
I can't understand well only with those introduction documents.
    Thanks~
    Regards
    Jack

    hi
    ref this
In a dynamic mode, the block is executed for each line of a multiline container element. In ParForEach mode, an instance of the block is generated for each line of the multiline container element. All instances are processed simultaneously. In ForEach mode, the block first runs through for the first line of the multiline container element, then for the second, and so on.
You can use the ParForEach mode when you want to send a message to multiple receivers simultaneously, for example. To do so, you use a receiver determination step to determine a multiline container element with the list of receivers. You then define that the message is sent to these receivers in a block with the ParForEach mode. You can use the ForEach mode when you want to send a message to multiple receivers one after the other, for example.
You specify the multiline container element in the Multiline Element attribute. In the Current Line field specify a container element that takes the value of the multi-line container element for which the block will run.
You can define an end condition for the dynamic mode . This is checked as soon as the block has run through for one line of the multiline container element. The block is complete as soon as one of the lines of the multiline container element returns true for the end condition, or all lines of the multiline container element have been processed.

  • BI Analytics for BPM question

    Hello,
I've seen that the reporting object that has the BPM Process Composer is for analysis until the process has ended. However, I need to make some analysis when the process is running. For example, I need a consolidated report of all the processes running and find which ones are stopped in any process step. I know that I could put after each step a BIAnalytics step for saving the information, but I don't find it like a good choice.
Anyone knows, How can I achieve this?
    Thanks & Regards
    SU

    Hi SU,
Your understanding is not quite correct... the reporting step is written immediately to BI Java at runtime, so you can use it while the process is running, e.g. via a Visual Composer Analytic. You don't have to wait until the end of the process... that's more if you want to do BI ABAP  or Business Objects reporting.
There are also a number of standard BI Java Data Sources that you can draw on to do real time reporting. These are actually used to build many of the administration tools in the NetWeaver Administrator.
There's a number of SCN articles to help.
Try this one for a how-to explanation:

  • Simple BPM question ...

I created a BPM in design builder.
I brought it into config in order to create a Integration Process service.
If I change the BPM design again in the design tool, what do I need to do in order to refresh it so that I can pick the new IP in the configuration tool.
    Thanks,
ps.: tried finding it in the help, but couldn't.

    Hi,
    1) Go to SXI_CACHE and check for the Return code of the Integration Process . It should be zero
    Just for reference-/people/krishna.moorthyp/blog/2005/11/28/inactive-integration-process-ip-at-run-time
    2) Refere SAP Note# 708338
    3) Still not reflected, go to Directory -> delete old integration process imported, and activate it then  reimport it again
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Moorthy
