Solution found for ios 6 wifi issues

solution
======
I had the same problem as you(and others). some people are having a dropped wifi problem whereby it lets you connect to your home network(or other)and a second or so later it drops the signal and loads up a page at apple.com that no longer exists.
the other problem people here are having seems to be for some reason the turn on wifi button is greyed out and can not be turned on. this would seem to be an installation error or something similar. i suggest checking the error logs by going into following menu on your phone
settings > general > about > diagnostics & usage > diagnostic & usage data
then check the error logs there and it might give a clue as to why it happened. i suggest then doing a full restore to factory settings including erasing all content. once restored, downloading all purchased apps again from app store.
also it could be guided access within accessibility settings. that allows you to grey out certain buttons in apps etc. it is possible but not likely, though it is worth checking out.
as to the first problem what i did was to go into wifi settings and click the blue arrow next to the name of my home network. then enable auto login. then i go out of that and turn off wifi, then turn it back on. then press home button, then open multi tasking bar(double press home button), then hold down settings icon till it jiggles and then press red x. that way it gets rid of it from the phones memory before it has chance to maybe load that web page up again.
this has to be done immediately. this worked for me, hope it does for you.
any of my ideas you try out you do so at your own risk and i can not and will not be held liable or responsible should anything go wrong as a result.

If you are having the issue where it takes you to a login page, goto Settings > WiFi and tap on the blue button to the right of your network name. There'll probably be an option to auto-join and you'll want to toggle that. If it's off, turn it on then back off. If it's on, toggle it off. If prompted to login again, just hit Cancel in the upper-right. Now goto Safari app and you should be prompted to connect to your network at which time it should work. It did for me at least and a friend of mine.

  • Solution found for my wireless issues with ipod touch!

    I recently upgraded my IPOD software and wireless would connect but not internet: incorrect IP address, nothing under DNS...I called Apple and they told me to call my router company (Qwewst-actiontec) and ask how to get into my router settings online. I did and the Apple rep told me to disable my wep key and then forget the network on itouch and try again. It worked! Of course I couldn't leave it w/o security so I called Apple back-the nice rep gave me his direct extension originally. He said that the software upgrade probably went from allowing wep to requiring wpa. I went back into my router settings online and set up WPA. Now it all works!

    Okay, so now I have read that you have to install a free app through the phone, not through the computer.  I've done so and it looks like everything is good for now.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  My question now, is that if this is a common occurance with the 4.3.3 update, why did Apple imply that I needed to wipe my iPod clean when this was the much easier and less invasive answer?

  • IOS wifi issues...

    Overnight my iOS devices (iPad 1, mini, iPhones 5 and 4) are struggling with my wifi network (BT HomeHub 3 with various extenders around the home).
    It will show as connected but then not allow an internet connection. (e.g. on Twitter it won't download anymore tweets). Whilst in safari, trying to access a website a box appears asking for a username and password (almost as if you are logging in to a private network) even for sites where no such exists or I have been asked for one before.
    This is very perplexing. It does not seem to be the router, even by turning Homehub off and on again, it still persists. Yet, it doesn't happen all the time, sometimes I can access apps, safari at the same point in the house fine, then next minute it won't work.
    There seems to be no trigger to this... I've not updated my devices with new iOS and as far as I'm aware there has been no BT update...
    Any advice welcome.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Possible solution to ipad 3 wifi issue

    This has worked for me, so hopefully it will help some of the other ipad 3 users who are experiencing wifi issues.
    I have an Ipad 3 32G wifi only model. It was shipped to me on 3/16. I had wifi problems similar to many posters here. Namely, the wifi disconnects and reconnects once every few minutes. It is independent of the range between my ipad and my router (i.e. it happens when the ipad is within 1 foot of the router or 100 feet).
    I tried the whole reset wireless network process and that did not work...
    What did work was an update to my router's firmware. I have a netgear n600 rounter and updating the firmware immediately solved the disconnect problem. I also borrowed my dad's ipad 2 and tested the wifi signal strength between his ipad 2 and my ipad 3 as a function of distance. The two devices signals were comparable at various distances from the router.
    of course, in places with public wireless, it is doubtful that these routers' firmware are diligently updated, so wifi problems will likely persist in public areas. But at least you can solve the problem in your home where you have control over your router :-)
    hope this help.

  • Any other troubleshooting steps for Yosemite WIFI issues?

    I've spent several hours this weekend at my friend's house trying to fix the WIFI issues on her Macbook. I had installed some software on it recently (Chrome, Plex, Teamviewer) and I removed all of it just in case there was a conflict (Plex being the only thing I could think might be causing an issue with the Plex server running.) I then realized she had upgraded to Yosemite and found out there seems to be a lot of WIFI issues going on. I've come across several blogs with troubleshooting steps and here is what I've tried so far:
    -Reset the modem to factory settings
    -Toggled the checkbox to authenticate changes in networks
    -Renewed DHCP lease
    -Disabled Bluetooh
    -Removed network configuration and preference files (and later restored the backups I had of them)
    -Created a new WIFI location with a custom DNS
    -Unloaded/reloaded discoveryd files
    I wasn't able to get any kind of WIFI connection between removing the network configuration and preference files and unloading / reloading the discoveryd files but then I plugged into the ethernet after reading there were some conflicts with Apple applications so I re-installed Chrome and the WIFI started working again for a little bit. I am typing this from my Macbook still running Mavericks on the same WIFI connection so I'm fairly sure this incident in 99% Yosemite and nothing else on the computer. I'm willing to try any other intermediate troubleshooting. She needs her computer a lot this week (works from home and has a big event this weekend) so I am going to hold off on the fresh OSX Yosemite install or an attempt to downgrade to Mavericks again - fingers crossed the update is out before that becomes a necessity.

  • Aperture + iPhoto for iOS resolution issues

    I'm trying to test out syncing some of my photos from Aperture 3.2.3 to iPhoto for iOS 1.0 (173) on an iPhone 4S in anticipation of getting my new iPad. Unfortunately, I'm running into problems. It seems no matter what I do, my images appear as 3.6MP.
    My understanding is that iTunes syncs the previews generated by Aperture to iOS devices instead of the original files. I'd be happier with the originals, but I can live with just previews. My main goal right now is to use the iPhone/iPad as a sorting device: eliminate the garbage and then do final editing on my color calibrated iMac.
    In Aperture, I've made a test project that I'm syncing with iTunes. I only have one photo in there. In Aperture's Preferences, under Previews, I set the following:
    New Projects automatically generate previews: checked
    Use embedded JPEG from camera when possible: unchecked
    Share previews with iLife and iWork: Always
    Photo Preview: Don’t Limit
    Photo Preview quality: 12 High
    I Deleted the Preview of my image, then Generated a Preview (holding option while right clicking). I quit both Aperture and iTunes and relaunched Aperture. Launched iTunes, unsynced my Project with my phone, opened iPhoto on the phone to make sure the image/project was gone, quit iPhoto on phone and resynced.
    I’m still ending up with a 3.6MP image even though the original is 16.1MP (5.01MB).
    Images from the built in camera on the iPhone 4S show up as full 8MP images, so I don’t think it’s a megapixel limitation.
    I just tried Exporting a Master from Aperture to a folder and then syncing that folder. Same exact issue occurs after syncing with iTunes: 16.1MP image changes to 3.6MP. 3264x4928 px changes to 1536x2319 px.
    I wonder if it’s an iPhone limitation. I’ll have to do more testing when my iPad arrives.

    I believe the the Previews are optimised for use on the iOS device, hence the reduced size.

    TD

  • AIR for iOS performance issue on iPhone4

    Hi,
    I have a little script that changes the scale of the ball based on sample data I'm getting from the microphone.
    It is working perfectly on MacBookPro, but when I compile it into ipa and test on my iPhone4, I'm getting very slow rendering. The ball changes scale slower and doesn't hit every beat as it does when I test in on MacBook. I have tested it on iPad3 as well and it acts the same ;(
    The question is - how can I improve performance, or maybe it just can't be done with AIR for iOS?
    So my FlashCC setup is 640x960px, 30fps.
    On stage I have just an instance of the "ball" - a movie clip with 100x100px vector circle with solid fill.
    For bitmap mode I used Cache as bitmap.
    //Script:
    import flash.media.Microphone; import flash.events.SampleDataEvent;
    import flash.utils.ByteArray;
    var mic:Microphone = Microphone.getMicrophone();
    mic.rate = 8;
    mic.gain = 100;
    var diff_norm = 0;
    mic.addEventListener(SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA, SampleData);
    this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, loop);
    function SampleData(eventObject:SampleDataEvent):void{
              var byteData:ByteArray = eventObject.data;
              while (byteData.bytesAvailable > 0)
                        var diff:Number = byteData.readFloat() * 20;
                        diff_norm = (Math.floor(Math.abs(diff)))
    function loop(e:Event):void{
              ball.scaleX = ball.scaleY = diff_norm;
    Thanks in advance.
    RT.

    Weird, but I just tested with Matrix and ir acts the same or even slower. At least I had a hope for a minute
    So I'm still seeking for the answer to this problem.

  • List of solution proposals for the WiFi connectivity issue?

    I have had my MacBook for two weeks now and have only been able to use my wireless network at the very first day where it actually worked. As the connection works perfect from my PC I'm sure that it is either my MacBook or Leopard that causes the problem.
    The problem appears in three ways. Sometimes my mac just can't see the network, other times it is vissible on the network list but unable to get connected to it. The third way is the most common - It gets connection but there is no flow (sometimes there is flow for a few minutes other times I have very slow flow - almost like a 28.8 baud modem) and no connection to the USB disk attached to the network. The Airport Extreme base is a few meters from the MacBook so it definitely not caused by distance.
    I have tried a lot of solution proposals but nothing that worked. Heres my list:
    - Clean install of Leopard. That didn't help anything.
    - Deleting com.apple.airport.preferences.plist from Library -> Preferences ->SystemConfiguration. No effect.
    - Restarting in Safe Mode. No effect.
    - Removing encryption and leaving the network open. No effect.
    - Changing the network name. No effect.
    - Chaning the locality name. No effect.
    Not being able to connect to the network is a highly annoying bug so I'm considering to return my MacBook if there isn't an effective solution. But before I take it to the dealer I would like to hear some more solution proposals.
    Anyone?

    The fact it works under Boot Camp and not under Leopard, suggests a damaged file or preference in Leopard. Sometimes by deleting all the locations in the Network preferences, and reconfiguring your airport setup there you can fix the issue. Other times it may be some software damaging the preference or cache files for the network settings. Are you using any third party utility software?
    How much space do you have free on how big a hard drive?

  • (Possible solution found) Can my wife and I use the same Lion DL even with two separate Apple IDs?

    EDIT: Sorry; original search terms didn't give me my answer. I think I found a solution though. Will update whether it works out.
    My wife and I each have our own MBPs, and we each have our own Apple IDs that pre-existed our marriage. Apple doesn't make it easy to have one family account with subaccounts managed underneath this, and we don't want each others iTunes purchases populating our libraries.
    Is it possible for me to DL and install Lion with my Apple ID, copy it to hers, and install it there with my same info yet still allow her to use her own ID for other things? Or will we need separate IDs for each download?

  • Solution found for T400 that will not shutdown after coming out of hibernation or sleep mode

    I found out by removing the ThinkPad manager driver (not the ThinkPad power manager), this solves the problem when the T400 goes into Hibernation or standby/sleep mode, but does not completely shut down afterwards.
    Apparently there's some kind of conflict with Windows power manager version and Lenovo's ThinkPad manager driver.  I left the ThinkPad manager utility as is and that seems to work fine with Win7
    Hope this helps for those who have the same issue.

    Update:
    I had my laptop running on the AC adapter all day.
    Then I briefly unplugged it for 2 minutes to carry it to the conference room where I plugged it in again.
    Later I unplugged it to bring it back to my desk.
    As described in my original post, I was then unable to simply shut down my laptop - it did not shut down all the way, and I had to force it to turn off.
    I hope someone here can help me with this, it's a real pain in the neck...
    Thanks!

  • Solution found for Vista 64 Blue Screen Crash when  Itunes Sharing on.

    After days of trial and error, I found the problem with my Windows based machine crashing (Blue Screen, IRQL error) when ATV would access ITunes through sharing. FYI, The blue screen error looked like a TCP/IP error.
    The problem was with the AntiVirus software. I had to completly remove CA Security suite from my system. After removal, no problem to see library and share music, movies and pictures. Not sure what the conflict is, but apparently Itunes home sharing and Antivirus / Security software do not like each other.

    You're having trouble with the drivers for your ATI Radeon video card or display adapter, lord.
    If you've got a name brand PC and the video card or display adaptor came installed with the PC, head to the drivers and downloads page for your particular model of PC at the PC manufacturers website and try updating your video driver or display adaptor driver.
    If the PC is custom/home-built, or you've added the Radeon to the system yourself, head to the AMD support website (AMD now owns ATI) and look for updated drivers for your particular model of video card or display adaptor.
    If you're already up to date on your drivers, or updating didn't help with the BSOD, try heading into your Device manager and reinstalling your video drivers or Display adaptor drivers.
    Do any of those measures give you any relief?

  • Solution found for previews not playing in Bridge

    Just a quick note about a problem that I've seen some people having:
    If you have a problem getting previews of animation presets to play in Adobe Bridge, try enabling software rendering in Bridge. See "Use software rendering for previews".

    > In previous versions of AE, you could bring up a web-help page that showed all the animations...how do I get there now?
    It's gone.
    > If the previews are embedded files, can I view them somewhere else (are they in my hard drive...if so, where)?
    No. The previews are built into the animation preset files.
    >If my QT player is encountering a problem as you and Mylenium state, how do I fix it?
    I don't know. As I said, I am no Bridge expert. This seems like a question for the folks on the Bridge forum. Yes, I know that you said that they pointed you here, but this is an issue with a media player built into Bridge, and that is outside of the scope of After Effects.
    If you want a better answer, I recommend contacting Adobe Technical Support:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact
    Be sure to specify that it's a Bridge issue when you call, so that you get routed to the right folks.
