Solution manager landscape ?

Does Solution Manager landscape requires a typical 3 system landscape  or is it like
one SOLMAN server for all the landscape.

Hello,
the technical prerequisites for Business Process Monitoring are described in SAP note 784752. Otherwise you find plenty of information in the Media Library under https://service.sap.com/bpm
If you need functional consultants or not is somewhat depending on the scope you want to use for BPMon. You will see that BPMon provides a broad scope of out-of-the-box functionality which can be application related but can also be only used by technical guys, e.g. IDOC, qRFC, tRFC, File or background job monitoring.
So there is no general answer to it. If you want to do full-blown BPMon then you will also need functional expertise.

  • Solar01/solar02 in solution manager: landscape structure definition- urgent

    Hi Forum Members,
    I need to understand whether this is possible and if it is then how do i do it; any step by step manual from SAP is available. We have solman 7.1 and project with type 'implementation' created. When i go to solar01/02 i can maintain business scenario for ERP with relevant business processes however our landscape is like ERP, CRM, Enterprise Portal , DMS (Document Management System), TREX. I wish to adjust solar 01 business process structure in a way that it reflects the entire landscape. So, regarding i have few questions as below. Please let me know your views ASAP as i am runnig very short of time to asetup
    1. Is it possible to adust all these applications in the single business process structure e.g. one implementation project has business scenarios to ERP, CRM, EP and so on.
    Business process structure we get is general with nodes after project creation in project administrtion is :
    A.Organizational unit
    B. Master Data
    C. Business scenarios.
    2. If not then do i have to create individual projects for each aplication like one for ERP and Other for CRM and so on.
    For reference please see the below prototype i am expecting to achive by doing this (solar01) :
    <Implementation Project>
    A.Organizational unit
    B. Master Data
    C. Business scenarios
    <Business scenario for ERP>
    <Business scenario for CRM>
    <Business scenario for EP>
    <Business scenario for DMS>
    <Business scenario for TREX>
    D.Interfaces
    <Applicable interfaces>

    Hi Prakhar,
    Thank you for the quick reponse and feel really nice to see you on this queries posted by me. I saw plenty of your threads earlier clarifying so many things on SCN.
    I wish to admit that i am new to solution manager. So from the understanding prospective would you confirm that in core you are saying that technically it cant be realized (individual business scenarios for each applicaton type) as you have explained that one scenario runs on different systems. I mean to say SAP doesnt support this that is what you wish to say? This confirmtaion is needed to rule out the option of adjusting business process structure as i am expecting to be.
    Also, I have to select business scenario in 'business scenario' and adjust it to run on different systems in under GRAPHIC tab in solar01 provided logical components are mentioned appropriately. I am refering to below link for designing the business process structure
    https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_SHORTKEY=00200797470000089860&_OBJECT=011000358700000910652011E
    Would appreciate your quick response

  • Solution Manager Landscape Components

    Hi,
       I am in the process of configuring Maintenance Optimizer.
       I have SolutIon Manager Development(SMD) and Solution Manager Production(SMP).
       I have some confusion
       When I go to TC SYSY in SMD the Landscape Components are ECC DEV,SM4 DEV and Sand Box.
       The same when I see in Production I can see only EPORTAL7.
        Also in SMD I have the option of adding ECC QAS and ECC PROD which I do not get in SMP.
        I just want to know where do I configure Maintenance Optimizer in SMD or SMP.
    Also do I need to add ECC QAS and ECC PROD in SMD.
    And do I need to check any connectivity between ECC and Solution Manager.
    Or at last is there any configuration issue if you feel.
    Thanks
    Parvez Khan.

    Hi Parvez,
    You get the latest version of Solution Manger Config guide and start checking your config step by step. I feel Landscape components are not added properly in SMD also check the respective RFCs ( Which is mentioned in Config Guide)
    Hope this is useful

  • Solution Manager Landscape Strategy

    Hi Everyone
    Can anyone please point me the document that talks
    about Solutiom Manager landscape strategy. Is it recommend to
    have Sandbox, Dev/QA/Prod  instance of Solutiom Manager or we just need
    one instance and connect all other system.
    Thank you

    I will add my two cents...
    A three SM landscape strategy works pretty good:
    #1 - Sandbox Solman - no satellite system connectivity; open access; used for the purposes of testing patches and exploring solman functionality - mostly for basis' purposes.
    #2 - 'Development' Solman - only satellite systems that are NOT on the path to production would be connected here - such as a sandbox.  This solman system would be used for configuration of solman itself [example, your solman team would configure solman functionality here].  It is also a good practice environment for PM's because it would have a small landscape attached to it [your sandboxes, remember]?  Migrations start here for solman functionality...
    #3 - 'Production' Solman - ALL path to production satellite systems connected here, except your sandboxes [which were connected to #2 remember?].  This system also serves as a target system for migrations that came from #2 [for solman functionality itself],  This is the main solman box that most users will access for project management, blueprinting, config, charm, and so forth.
    This type of landscape satisfies ITIL requirements as changes made to solman itself are migrated from #2 to #3; changes are not made directly in the prod box.
    Hope this helps,
    Jen

  • Managing the development within solution manager landscape

    Hi
    We have a development system (SMD) and a production system (SMP). SMP is the domain controller and manages the change requests of R/3 DEV, QAS and PRD. Now we want to start deploying enhancements to the functionality in the solution manager itself. I created a maintenance project in SMP and activated the change request management. The maintenance cycle is generated showing SMD as the Development track and SMP as the production track. The status is changed to development with release along with the normal activating and unlocking of the tracks. A change request is created in SMP with the component as SMP system. When I try to create a transport request or try log onto the system, the system is raising different types of error messages. Ideally, it should have created transport requests in SMD and should have navigated there for us to perform the required configuration/development. The error messages are System SMD, client 110 not found when trying to log onto the system and when trying to create a new transport request, it raises the exception with below detailed description.
    "A technical problem occurred when RFC function module /TMWFLOW/TASK_START was accessed
    Message no. SOCM_ACTION_LOG 025
    Diagnosis
    An exception was triggered when an RFC module was called.
    The module is /TMWFLOW/TASK_START
    System Response
    The system terminated processing. The transaction contains errors.
    Procedure
    Check RFC connection NONE to the Solution Manager.
    Procedure for System Administration
    To analyze the termination, you can activate the assertions in the socm_rfc checkpoint group.
    Additional Information:
    Exception CX_SOCM_RFC_SYSTEM_FAILURE occurred (program:
    CL_CHM1_INSTANCE==============CP, include:
    CL_CHM1_INSTANCE==============CM00C, line: 140).
    There is no RFC destination in the specified target"
    Our basis person is also unable to troubleshoot this. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Srinivas,
    1.Check on the RFCs in SMSY for the SMD and SMP.
    2.In the SMSY logical component when you click on the transport route is it showing the proper Transport route as you intented?
    3.In the transport route is it client specific?
    Please checkon the above and revert back for any clarification.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Avinash.

  • Changing Solution manager landscape and having a Virtual production system

    We have a 2 line landscape like this
    Line1: DEV1 - QAS1 - PROD1
    Line2: DEV2 - QAS2 - VirtualPROD.
    During our golive pahse the QAS1 in Line1 will be replaced by the QAS2 in Line2 and Lin 2 will be on hold for a while.
    My questions,
    1) does any one have any experience in topic?, on how to change the system landscape without closing any tasklist/maintenance cycle or project.
    2) We have some problems with logging on to QAS system from the change request when having a virtual production system, it works fine from the tasklist.
    Unfortunalty we can't see anything in the log.
    3)When having multiple QAS systems in one Line , how can the import the change to the second QAS system be handled when using urgent correction since only one QAS is in the task list the one which feeds the production system. (Urgent correction always uses the shortest path to production)
    Comments, references and all else is valuable.
    br
    patrik

    Question #2
    Apperently does the system check for a connection to the production system and since it's virtual there is no rfc , so would it be possible to create an rfc to a virtual system?

  • Solution manager system Landscape setup problems

    Dear Expert,
    I tried to add new system DEV into solution manager landscape with the Assistant .
    But during the step Create RFC connections, it occured some errors below.
    RC=2: The user has no authorization in the target system (for the object S_RFCACL), or logged on with one of the protected users 'DDIC' or 'SAP*'.
    I created a account call 'TIM' at target system, and also solution manager has the same user account as well.
    does any other authorizqtion need to be assign to TIM.??
    please help~
    Regards
    Jack Lee

    Hello,
    Please create a communication user in both Solman system as well as satellite system with trusted autorizatrion.
    For trusted autorization create a role with object S_RFC & S_RFCACL
    While generating RFC please select the user which you have created in the above step
    Hope this helps you if not let me know the exact error

  • Solution Documentation: Define WMB and ATG in solution Manager

    Hello,
    I am working on solution docuemtnation. and looking for some help to define the NOn SAP system like WMB or ATG in solution manager landscape defination.
    Solution Manager version is 7.1
    Regards,

    Hi Bhavesh
    This is a good question to me as I have no knowledge about IBM Websphere at all.
    But at my opinion, you will need an "Websphere Appserver by IBM" (nothing else than IBM Websphere) to run the IBM Websphere Message Broker on. And therefore, you should go on assigning your Message Broker as product instance of the "Websphere Appserver by IBM".
    If the IBM Websphere Message Broker is not a product part of Websphere (App)server, you should create a new product. Secondarly, if the version of your Websphere Message Broker differs from the ones provided by SAP (right pane "Productversion"), you will also need to create your own product, as they are not changeable if provided by SAP.
    A third point to think about is, that if you would like to point out, that there is a real difference between the IBM Websphere Message Broker and (perhabs separatly installed) IBM Websphere Appserver, you should create your own product.
    Last, but not less important: If you use the "Technical System Monitoring" of Solution Manager (see Solman Setup), you shoudl check, if there is are any templates for checking an Websphere Appserver provided by SAP. If so, you will need to assign your Message Broker as "Websphere Appserver" in order to use this monitoring template.
    Best regards,
    Michael

  • EWA for Business Objects (XI 3.1) within SAP Solution Manager

    Hello!
    We use Business Objects (XI 3.1) and would like to get weekly a EWA report within our SAP Solution Manager.
    Our SAP Solution Manger has only ABAP stack and it has the SPS version 25.
    We also do not use Wily Introscope/Diagnostics and E2E tools within SAP Solution Manager.
    Question
    Is it possible to set up EWA for Business Objects with our requirements (SOLMAN with ABAP stack and without E2E/Diagnostics tools)?

    Hello,
    The short answer is no. You can verify this in SAP Note  1507629  - Preparing a BOE system for Service Sessions in Sol. Manager.
    "...1.) Managed System Setup
    Perform the Managed System Setup for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise as
    described in the "End-to-End Root Cause Analysis System Landscape Setup
    Guide". This guide can be found in the SAP Service Market Place:
    -> http://service.sap.com/diagnostics
        -> Navigate to the "Media Library"
           -> Open the document "SAP Solution Manager Landscape Setup Guide"
    Please ensure that you perform all steps mentioned in the guide which
    are relevant for your product and version. Please read also SAP note
    1357901, which is also referred to in the above mentioned setup guide."
    So this is a requirement. There are also pdf documetns attached to this note  that describe how to setup the EWA in Solution Manager. EGI_SBOP_EWA_part1.pdf and EGI_SBOP_EWA_part2.pdf.
    The fact you have no Java stack and have not installed Diagnostics, just means it has not been done. It can be done and then you can do a managed system setup, and the balance of tasks required to prepare the system and Solution manager to generate EWA reports for the BOE system. Its just more work, not a show stopper.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • Monitoring customer's systems in Solution Manager 7.1

    Hello gurus.
    I have successfully added our internal system to our Solution Manager 7.1 SP4 running on Oracle 11.2.0.2.
    And now I'm wondering is it possible to add customer's systems to our Solution manager? There are some unclear moments one of which SLD configuration (RZ70, SLDAPICUST).
    Does anyone have such an experience or maybe can help with links to documents or SAP notes.

  • Solution Manager key for ERP upgrade for the same system ID on a different

    Hi there,
    We have  migrated our R/3 DEV system (4.7) running on Windows 2003 to 64 bit and copied existing system using system copy for testing ECC 6.0 upgrades. Both the DEV systems, with the same system id, will be available for a short period. However, the new system, which also has same system id i.e DEV is not created in the Solution Manager landscape, as the system id with the same name already exists. Both the systems are created in SLD.
    Can anyone  clarify whether i can create the license key from the existing DEV system and use the same key for upgrade of DEV system running on different server? If not I will have to delete the current DEV system and create new DEV system running on 64 bit.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards
    Chandu

    Hi,
    You cannot use the old solman key as systems are on different server.
    I think you have to delete the old Dev system and then generate new solman key.
    Thanks

  • BCP Microsoft Platform integration with Solution Manager

    Hi
    Is it possible to integrate BPC Microsoft platform 7.0 and 7.5 with Solution Manager?
    If so how?  Is there documentation available explaining the process?

    Hi Johan,
    There is some level of integration available with Solution Manager.  To set up your system for Diagnostics, refer to "End-to-End Root Cause Analysis System Landscape Setup Guide", which is available on Service Marketplace at [https://service.sap.com/sapidb/011000358700000074392009E|https://service.sap.com/sapidb/011000358700000074392009E], and follow the chapters that apply to Planning and Consolidation.
    You can also access this document by going to [http://service.sap.com/diagnostics|http://service.sap.com/diagnostics] and selecting the Media Library link under the "More Documentation" section. The document is labeled "SAP Solution Manager Landscape Setup Guide".
