Solutions for printing problems after upgrade to Lion?

Since upgrading to Lion, I am having problems getting accurate colors to print with my Epson Stylus Pro 3880.  I have the latest printer driver, and my screen is calibrated.  I would appreciate any ideas of what to do.
Thanks -
Dudley

Hi Paul,
Been away and just got back to this issue.
Thanks for the info. The OKI site has now posted a list of all their Printers and their relative drivers for compatibility with "Lion". My machine is due an updated driver from OKI in Mid Decmber according to this notice.
Meanwhile, as the printer does work with some tweaking I guess I will use the work around until the new driver is available. My legacy printers that i use for special jobs both work and as I do not have the disks for their drivers I am loathe to re-set the printer system at this time.
Thanks for your assistance in this issue.
Regards,
Mike, Rustington.

Does anyone have this printer problem after upgrading to Lion. A perfectly functioning laser printer on my network prior to upgrade - now the network seems to drop the printer and show it as "not connected" approximately every 30 minutes ???

  • Printer problems after upgrading. My kodak esp 5250 says it has the printer head jammed. Reloading the software let it work once. Obviously an interaction problem with Lion. Any ideas?

Printer problem. Since installing Lion my kodak esp5250 all in one says the printer head is jammed. It isn't. Reinstalled software and it worked once but still gives printer head jammed message. Any ideas?

Only the obvious one: do you have the latest driver, and does that cope with Lion? Kodak's stated requirements include this, which is slightly suspect. Obviously an interaction problem with Kodak?  Try exploring whatever help Kodak have.

MAC OS X 10.6.x, MAC OS X 10.5.x, MAC OSX 10.4.8 or higher required

  • Cannot eject USB HDD that is being used for Time Machine after upgrading to Lion

After upgrading to Lion from SL, I have had only one issue.  Amazing!  Great job Apple with making the process smooth, but my issue is this.  Ever since the upgrade, I cannot eject the external USB HDD that I use for Time Machine.  I get the following error:
The disk "Time Machine" wasn't ejected because one or more programs may be using it.  To eject the disk immediately, click the Force Eject button.  There is the little spinning fan and the message "Trying to eject" and then the fan disappears and where it said, "To eject the disk immediately..." it now says "You can try to eject the disk again or click Force Eject to eject it immediately."  I can click Force Eject and it will work, but seems like there is an issue that needs to be addressed.  Any thoughts anyone?

Ok, I think there's a slightly better way, but try this:
Open the Terminal app (in your Applications/Utilities folder). Be very careful with this app.  It's a direct link into UNIX, the underpinnings of OSX, but without the protections of OSX.
In Terminal, the prompt looks like this: <Computer Name>:~ <your name>$
(where <your name> is your short user name).  It's followed by a non-blinking block cursor.
Copy the following after the prompt:
              lsof |grep
and leave a space.  Then drag the Backups.backupdb folder on the TM drive from a Finder window into the Terminal window (Terminal will convert that into a "path").
    Press Return.
You should get a list of geeky stuff; but the first thing on the next line should be the process that's using the drive (Finder in the sample), followed by another prompt:

My Canon S750 was fine until the last upgrade. Does this has anything to do with the "replacement" of gimp print by gutenprint?

  • Canon MX700 Printer problem since upgrade to Lion.

    Hi
Since upgrading to Lion every time I try to print something on my Canon MX700 networked printer I get a communication error. I found that what I have to do to get it to work is to print the document a second time and then delete the first document in the printer queue. This pauses the printer and when it is resumed the second document prints successfully.
Anyone else have this problem or can anyone shed any light on what might be wrong?
    Scanning seems to work OK.
    Many Thanks

you need to upgraded canon MX700 that's support Lion.
you can download updated driver from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_s eries/pixma_mx700#DriversAndSoftware
But remember, you should trash the BJPrinters folder, located in HD > Library > Printers > Canon. This action to uninstall driver canon MX700 that's installed on your mac

  • Problem after upgrading to Lion

I have a Beyonwiz PVR.  I have it connected to my iMac via an ethernet cable.  I have never had a problem accessing my computer from the Wiz and being able to watch movies stored on my hard drive.  After upgrading my iMac to Lion I now find that my Wiz no longer detects my PC???   I have not changed any settings on the Wiz and file sharing is set up on my iMac.
Any ideas???   This is clearly as a result of upgrading to Lion as it worked perfectly well before.

can anyone explain why this may be happening?

  • Sleep problem after upgrading to Lion

I have a late 2009 MBP with 2 user accounts setup.  I normally log out of my user account and then close lid which puts it in sleep with the indicator light blinking.  Now after updating to Lion, it doesn't seem to go to sleep, the light is constantly on and it is gets very warm.  I don't have any external monitor attached or anything else.  I just tried leaving lid open and choosing "sleep" from login screen, that seems to work right but I don't like to have the lid open.  Now with the computer at sleep with lid open, closing lid will do the same as above.  Any ideas?

    First do this:
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
Second, update to 10.7.1 via Software Update or direct download - Apple OS X Lion 10.7.1.

  • Printer problem after upgrade to OSX Mavericks

Help!!  My Canon MX310 printer  no longer works after I upgraded to OSX Mavericks.  Does anyone else out there have the same problem or point me to a potential solution?  Thanks

First and probably the most important is go up to your Black Apple uuper left and do the Software Update. Double check that your plugged in to the USB port on your Mac. Restart the Mac and you should be good to go. Iwould also go to Canons web site and make sure there are any New Drivers for Mavericks.

  • Printer problem after upgrade to Snow Leopard

My trusty HP Deskjet 1200C printer keeps giving an error now I have upgraded to Snow Leopard (on the way to Lion for iCloud). I checked for an upgraded driver on the HP site but there doesn't seem to be one after OS 10.6
I am getting this error - PrintJobMgr failed
Any suggestions welcome and advice for what will and won't work with Lion.
    Thanks

Try to restart, see if problem still happens.
If it does.. remove printer (and other periferals) from the computer and do an SMC reset. Also unplug your printer's power as well to rest it too.
    Also, do a PRAM reset.
Let us know how it goes.

  • Sound volume problem after upgraded to Lion Mac OS X 10.7? Any help?

I have just upgrade to 10.7 Lion last night. Whenever I change the volume, no matter by pressing the volume up or down button on the keyboard, or using the mouse to change the volume on the top bar, the computer hangs for a while, with no sound, for a few seconds, the youtube video reset or hang, even the Safari hangs for a few seconds.
Anyone has the same problem? Any fix on this?

Another thread suggested this fix see screens
    Removal of the following files
    ~/Library/Preferences/Audio/*.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.soundpref.plist
This is a possibility for a fix.

  • Printing problems after "upgrading" to Snow Leopard

Under Leopard my two printers (HP Deskjet 970 Cxi and Epson Stylus Photo 2100) worked just fine.
With Snow Leopard the quality of the prints with the two printers is simply bad. The print-driver is: gutenprint v5.2.3 even an upgrade to gutenprint v5.2.4 did not make any difference.
When printing a test page with the Epson Stylus Photo 2100 the printer simply pauses during the print somewhere along the test page. When the printer is started again (green button in the printer window) it starts printing from the beginning again and pauses again. Useless!

    Eric,
For the Deskjet, I'd suggest using the Leopard drivers (off of the Leopard DVD). They will give you much better quality printing, although you'll have to deal with lack of features printing from 64-bit apps. The easiest way to work around them is to print through Preview an force Preview to run in 32-bit mode.
The other option would be to install the [HPIJS|http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macos x/hpijs] drivers.
    Just trying to help.

  • Is anybody have problem after upgrading mountain lion to 10.8.2?

I have a macbook pro with 16 meg ram
I have a new problem since I upgrade to mountain lion 10.8.2 :   My computer freeze  and the only way to make it works is to reboot.
Is someone have this same problem?
    Any information about that?
    Thanks
    Pierre

I'm a similar issue, but mine freezes up on almost any program and can't really see a constant reason why. I'm going to try the combo updates as sig suggested to see if that helps.

  • Printer problem after upgrading the Mac HD disk

After replacing the Mac HD on my Mac Pro, and copying all the "old" data from the "old" Mac HD using Migration Assistance, I cannot print. Getting "communication error". Re-installing drivers does not help. The printer is a Canon MF4350d connected over USB. Is there files somewhere (USB drivers?) that may affect this issue. Or can how can I delete all (Canon) printer drivers and make a clean install?

First, make a backup of all your data or you entire system. Then you will follow the instructions in the link below to erase the Yosemite volume and reinstall Yosemite from scratch. After assuring it is working properly you can restore your third-party software from original media. Be sure the software is compatible with Yosemite. Finally, restore your data from your backup.
Install or Reinstall Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
