[Solved] Are these dependecies on aur?

I more of a creative person and enjoy playing LittleBigPlanet. But right now, I don't have access to the PS3, so I can't play it. I remember Xmoto being fun and I loved to create levels using inksmoto. (Inksmoto is an add-on for inkscape that allows you to make Xmoto levels.) I followed all the instructions on how to install it, but it appears that I didn't have a few dependencies installed, so it didn't work. I got one of them installed, (tk) but I need 2 more. (Python-Imaging-Tk and Python-Tk) I searched to see if it was on aur, and neither of them were. I searched tk, but then a bunch of GTK things showed up, and I didn't have the time to search through all of that. I searched TkInter, but nothing showed up. Are these dependecies found anywhere that it would be easy to install? I don't want to have to compile the dependecies. (Although it wouldn't take too long) Right now I'm updating and the update included Python, so the update may fix this. I'm sorry if the update fixes it. I have a 32-bit processer, I doubt this would help but it just might.
CONCLUSION for people who are too lazy to read the text above:
Need These dependecies: Python-Imaging-Tk and Python-Tk.
Couldn't find them, too lazy to look through tons of results.
Updating, update includes Python, update may fix it.
32-bit processer.
EDIT: Update didn't work, please help!
EDIT (Again): All finished, works just fine. Thanks iphitus for helping me!

@tjb.....
Before you piss off to many folks, you've already seen no one here is going to do work for you.
It was probably a whim you were even responded to, even though it looked more like you ticked someone off already.
Everyone here has a life outside of this forum to include the devs and mods.
Pretty much everyone here will help with a legit problem, at least supply a link to a fix for the most part.
What you're asking for is for someone to hold your hand and pretty much think for you.
Arch is the best distro going for my money, but the users here are somewhat advanced and aren't much inclined to hold hands or think for someone else when the wiki is massive compared to most of the ones I've encountered and just chock full of answers.
Get thee to the wiki dude. [I'm assuming of course]
edit. simultaneous post as I see he already solved his problem. O well.

When are these problems gonna be solved?! I don't want to install this with all these problems...

So don't install Lion yet. Lots of people wait at least a week after a public release of a major OS upgrade just to see what the common issues might be. Others wait for the first update (x.1) which usually clears up most of the issues missed during the beta period.
Or make a bootable backup on an external drive and then do the upgrade. Most people aren't experiencing any problems. I'm not. But if you're one of the unlucky ones, that bootable backup will let you go back to Snow Leopard until you're ready to try Lion again later.

hi,i use logic pro 9 and cubase to record, produce and master audio recordings and have bought a mac as recommended.have upgraded to 8gig memory (which i was told was the maximum you could upgrade a macbook pro)and still my recordin is slightley behind plauback.i need to replace my hard drive with a solid state drive to solve the problem.i have seen on youtube how to replace the hard drive but have noticed on the disk partition information that there is a 500gig harddrive for the system(booting up ect)and a 500gig harddrive for data storage, are these the same unit?i need to be sure im upgrading what the system uses to an ssd as well as the data storage or the problem wont be solved.i have an external hard drive so i have been looking at a smaller, faster ssd. hope you can help!

I would recommend not settling for less then USB 3 or hold out for Thunderbolt, if your machine is capable. Firewire 800 minimum.

I have checked with ISP, there response is like below:
Those are the NNI to GBNET IPs for Dominican Republic. They are Network IPs. You should be able to ping them-that means they are working.

You don't need to start a new thread to continue a conversation, you can just tack onto the original one. The settings I referred you to are for the Blackberry, since that's the device which is not receiving mail: anything which is working can be left alone.

  • What are these processes and how do I prevent them?

For many years, many have complained of external drives that are in standby/sleep spinning up for no apparent reason.  From the user's point of view this is unnecesssary, but to make matters worse, the system usually stops everything else while waiting for the drives.
I have a Mac mini that I use as a home theater pc.  The media and backups are on a 5-bay enclosure (no RAID) attached by USB.  While watching a video, the unused drives will go into standby mode, which is good.  But then, with no user activity, they will spin up, freezing the video and everything else, which is not good.  As these are slow drives and spin up sequentially, this can take 10-20 seconds.  This may happen once or twice an hour, but sometimes more frequently.
In looking into the causes, I have turned off time Machine (after putting these drives into the Privacy section for good measure).  I also prevented Spotlight and fsevents logging with the following:
    mdutil -i off /Volumes/<drive1> /Volumes/<drive2> . . .
cd /Volumes/<drive1 and then repeat for other drives>
         rm -rf .fseventsd .Spotlight-*
         mkdir .fseventsd
         touch .fseventsd/no_log .metadata_never_index
As far as I can tell this has worked to stop those processes from accessing the drives after they are mounted, but the problem persists.  To find out what else might be causing them to wake up:
    sudo fs_usage -w | grep -e Volumes/<drive1> -e /Volumes/<drive2> . . .
and here is what I found last night (actually didn't use the -w last night, thus it is cut off):
    18:35:36  fsgetpath   /Volumes/XBMC         0.000026   SSDragHelper
    18:35:36  fsgetpath   /Volumes/Stuff        0.000006   SSDragHelper
    18:35:36  fsgetpath   /Volumes/DatOptic_3   0.000005   SSDragHelper
    18:35:36  fsgetpath   /Volumes/MacBackUp    0.000003   SSDragHelper
    18:36:15  fsgetpath   /Volumes/XBMC         0.000026   System Prefe
    18:36:15  fsgetpath   /Volumes/Stuff        0.000004   System Prefe
    18:36:15  fsgetpath   /Volumes/DatOptic_3   0.000003   System Prefe
    18:36:15  fsgetpath   /Volumes/MacBackUp    0.000003   System Prefe
    18:55:36  fsgetpath   /Volumes/XBMC         0.000034   GoogleSoftwa
    18:55:36  fsgetpath   /Volumes/Stuff        0.000004   GoogleSoftwa
    18:55:36  fsgetpath   /Volumes/DatOptic_3   0.000003   GoogleSoftwa
    18:55:36  fsgetpath   /Volumes/MacBackUp    0.000003   GoogleSoftwa
After looking into the Google process, I was surprised to find the tentacles that Google puts into your system, and ripped every bit of it out that I could.  But I have no idea about what's going on with SSDragHelper and System Prefe (presumable System Preferences).  This must be OS X itself?  What are these processes doing, and is there any way to prevent them from accessing these disks in this way?

Thanks for the reply Hen3ry.  Looks like you've done a lot of investigation.  For me, fs_usage entries accompanying spindown are not problems - I'm happy if the drives spin down.  My problem is the spinups.  But still, I don't think it is necessary to time the fs_usage entries with spinups.  If you grep for the drives you're concerned about, you will see any process that would potentially wake them up.
Because my understanding is limited, I also am more concerned with the process/application that is accessing the drives than with the functions or commands they are sending.  And the values that are returned by those functions are way beyond what I can deal with.
It's interesting that you've found a difference between your old and new drives.  Could you specify the enclosure and drives in each case?
The StorageStatus app looks interesting; thanks for the tip.
Here's a summary of what I've done so far, which I think is working.  I need a few more weeks to know for sure.
How to prevent unwanted drive spin-ups
If you are actively using the computer that the enclosure is attached to, nothing on God’s green earth will stop OS X from waking them up after some user action, even ones that seem to have nothing to do with the external drives.  But if you leave the computer alone while some application is running, like watching a movie or downloading a file, you have a fighting chance of coaxing OS X into leaving the uninvolved drives alone.
If the drives are shared with any other computers over a network, eject them on those computers
Otherwise, OS X (AppleFileServer) will poll them every 10 seconds.  This might not be bad if you want to just keep the drives spinning and the other computer stays awake.
    Third-party apps
Make sure no apps are running that might access your drives.  Google runs some processes that do this (maybe I’m naïve, but I was so shocked I removed chrome and every other trace of Google from my Mac mini system). Another is iStat and any utility that monitors SMART status in the background.
Don’t let Spotlight index or search the drives
Spotlight is persistent, and it may be necessary to take a variety of steps to stop its various processes (mds, mdworker) from accessing the drives and waking them up.  In other words, kill it, drive a stake through its heart, then burn the body:
In System Preferences > Spotlight, add the drives to the Privacy pane.
Add a file called .metadata_never_index to the root of each drive (note the leading period).  The easiest way to do this is in Terminal
    touch /Volumes/<drive1>/.metadata_never_index
Tell Spotlight AGAIN to keep away from the drive:
    mdutil -i off /Volumes/<drive1> /Volumes/<drive2> . . .
Finally delete the Spotlight folder from the drive.
    rm -rf /Volumes/<drive1>.Spotlight-*
Stop fseventsd from logging in the drive
This is easy, just putting a no_log file in its folder.  I have found that rarely it still writes some files in there, but it doesn’t seem to do so when it causes problems, so . . .
              rm –rf /Volumes/<drive1>/.fseventsd/*
         touch /Volumes/<drive1>/.fseventsd/no_log
    Finder sidebar
Some people say that if the drives show in the Sidebar of Finder windows, the Finder will be checking them.  I’m not sure. But to be safe, in Finder Preferences > Sidebar, uncheck External Disks.
Just say no to Time Machine
On the home theater mac itself, regular backups shouldn’t be needed.  You should be able to just turn Time Machine off.  However, it is probably sufficient to simply open System Preferences > Time Machine > Options and add the drives to the list of locations to exclude from backup.
Second, local backups can be disabled with
    sudo tmutil disablelocal
    Look for other culprits
If the problem persists, use fs_usage, which generates a real-time log of filesystem activity. There is so much going on that you need to use grep to restrict the output to entries that involve your drives. The entries that accompany your drive spin-ups are the ones you really want.
    sudo fs_usage -w | grep -e Volumes/<drive1> -e /Volumes/<drive2> . . .
Now leave the keyboard and mouse alone, as many things you might do will cause the drives to be accessed. You probably want to find what does it when you’re not actively interacting with the computer.  It’s not really necessary to wait for your drives to sleep and see what wakes them.  Any activity you see would probably wake the drives if they were asleep.  When you see some activity and want to stop and examine, type Control-C to stop the output.  On the far right of each entry is the process or application that accessed the disks.

I'm trying to figure out why Firefox has no spellcheck. I suspect it needs dictionaries installed, but it's a bit of a mystery. I had to reste FF as it kept crashing after I updated to V31.0

    Yes Options is for Windows.
On Mac you use "Firefox > Preferences" or the Preferences button in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list.
You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.
At least one dictionary should be installed and have a check mark to indicate that it is selected.
*Open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.
*Make sure that [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu is check-marked.
You can enable or disable spell checking globally:
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced : General: Browsing: "Check my spelling as I type"
You can look here for dictionaries:
Were you able to stop the crashes?

  • What are these mysterious documents on my hard drive?

I was out of town for the last 3 weeks, so no one was using my home computer, but I left it on anyway. I normally never turn it off, unless I'm rebooting it or moving it. Upon returning home, I woke it up and opened the Finder window, I found 3 mysterious 4kb documents on my hard drive. These were not in my Home folder, but were sitting above the Applications folder in Finder. They weren't there before I left town. All three of them were dated differently. One a month for Sept., Oct., and Nov. Very odd. When I try to open them, I get a message saying, " The document "" could not be opened. You don't have permission. To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File>Get Info." So I did this and I got no useful information. I ran a Disk Permission - Repair Permissions and still could not open these documents. I decided to delete them.
Then today, I find there's another one, with the time stated as being Today, 1:36 AM. The others also had early morning hours attached to them too. So it appears to be the exact same sort of thing. What the heck are these documents and why are they suddenly appearing on a monthly basis?

    John,
Thanks for telling me how to do the screen shot thing, I never knew.
You can see in the Finder window the first thing is the unknown document that showed up yesterday.
Next is the Get Info window you asked for, which says I can open it using TextEdit, but it's locked.
When I try to open it using TextEdit by clicking on the Open with TextEdit.app, which is the only option, I got this:
Clicked the Continue button and got this message:
So next I clicked on Update and got this message:
Clicking on the OK button closed the message windows but the Info window remained opened.
As I said in my original post, I've been getting these unkown documents once a month since September 2012. I had never seen them before this week though.
What do you think they are, should I be concerned about them or just delete them and not worry?

  • Are these Seagate 2TB drives compatible in my Mac Pro Quad Core 2.66 GHz?

I still have an Apple Mac Pro "Quad Core" 2.66 that was introduced August 7, 2006. I currently have 4 of the following Seagate internal hard drives installed: ST3750640AS SEAGATE BARRACUDA 7200.10 - HARD DRIVE - 750 GB - INTERNAL - 3.5" - SATA-300 - 7200 RPM - BUFFER: 16 MB
I want to know if these hard drives will work in this computer: Seagate Barracuda XT ST32000641AS 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive. This computer is powered by two 2.66 GHz dual core Intel Xeon 5150 processors.
The old drives were purchased from NewEgg and I want to purchase the new ones from there also. Are these 2TB drives compatible in my computer?
    Thanks,
    Lou Hosta

    SATA is SATA.
Apple introduced GPT (GUID) years ago to support 2TB and larger (default partition scheme).
SATA III is also backward compatible with SATA II (otherwise, who would Seagate have to sell to?)
The only issues have been with green drives, using green version for RAID or for performance purposes.

All has been installed. Those are there in case you need to do a reinstall. Unlike most Windows based hardware vendors these days. Apple still ships software you might need in case a drive fails. Even in the case of the new MacBook Air, Apple ships the software on a flash drive.

    Hi shldr2thewheel,
it has been a while since we have last spoke, I would like to let you know, I am still working on getting used to the switch from windows to a Mac/Apple system. I do have a new question for you, I did purchase In Design CS5.5 through journeyed.com through Cuyahoga Community College of which I attend as a student, is there a way to purchase an online book through iTunes to learn that as well? Also, you know me, the struggling student, I would also, when and if the book can be purchased through the iTunes, would need to know if you do know of a much easier book for struggling students like myself and at a reasonable price as well for the In Design CS5.5 program. Our campus bookstore had closed early, and, so did the colleges library and our local library here where I do live, so, I cannot go to either place to purchase a book or to take out a book, plus cash funds are low at this moment as well but, I do have money left on the iTunes account to use, if it can be used. So, can it be used, the iTunes money, towards finding a low priced online book? I am in great need of assistance as I have a project due for my one course for this Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Sincerely in need of help once again,
    Kim

Do you happen to have an Android?  If so and depending on what version there is a great data usage analyse tool built-in.  See if you can go to Settings -> Data Usage  from there you can pick a current or previous billing cycle and then use the vertical sliders to select a date range and it will filter the usage data per app to show you exactly what app(s) were using data during that time frame.
