[solved] error: core.db appears to be truncated: 1249/0 bytes

Hi arch'ers,
i run arch linux on my laptop for some time now and are very satisfied.
And now try to install it on my desktop pc on a dedicated harddisk.
After booting x86_64 live-cd (newest), partitioning, create filesystems + mounting for every mirror|url from the /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist i get this:

i don't have any files under /var/lib/pacman/sync and it's writeable.
i don't think it's related with https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/23803 because it's the same for all urls in the mirrorlist.
Network is up and running
any hints?

It had something to do with our network / internet access here. I had to register first.
After that, all downloads worked.

EDIT: it was a DNS lookup problem. I don't know why but it is better to manually specify nameservers in resolv.conf than in the home router control panel (a NETGEAR DGN2200v3). See the #3 post.

I just installed arch and I need to downgrade to xorg 1.12 to be able to use catalyst proprietary driver (legacy).
As I read into the wiki, I added the two required repos:
[catalyst-hd234k]

when I try to do an update, I get "database file does not exist".
In logs appears a curl error 28, timeout error, but the repository is online (I can ping it and I can browse its contents with firefox).
What can I do?

Solved:
After a lot of hours trying wget, aria2 and curl, with a lot of options, I just stopped observing pacman output behaviour in the console.
Seemed that it was a DNS lookup problem but, in my resolv.conf, the specified nameserver was my home router.
Anyway, I changed that specifying google's nameservers; is working now. It's a weird thing because in my homerouter I was already using google's nameservers.
Now I can open the repos in browser without lag.
Example of my resolv.conf:
Before:
# home router nameserver
nameserver 192.168.0.1
After:
#Google nameservers
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4

How to solve error -1450?

I have been re-installed iTunes, and it keeps pop-up with the error -1450 ( cannot save music library ), and it reloads all the playlist each time I switch on the computer and open iTunes.
I have been re-install iTunes after the error appear, and it seems although I have re-install iTunes, the problem doesn't solve and keeps repeat.
For any kindness, please tell how I can fix this error, as I cannot find any articles on support page about this.

Did you try this for deleting photos that I posted in your thread ? Photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view. Photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing.
For '1004' then there are various 'solutions' mentioned from this post onwards which might work for you : https://discussions.apple.com/message/15652754#15652754 - different things appear to have worked for different people.

Try opening a terminal window (Applications >> Utilities). At the prompt, enter:
>sudo SystemStarter restart CiscoVPN
This will ask you for the admin password and it will restart the Cisco client service. That should fix it. This seems to be a known issue that will eventually be solved with some updates.

"iropt" is a component of the compiler that optimizes code. A compiler crash is always a compiler bug. You have the current C++ front-end patch, but you should verify that you have the current back-end (common compiler) patch as well.
If getting the current patches doesn't solve the problem, we would need a compileable test case that demonstrates the problem. If you have a service contract with Sun, you should submit a bug report via that channel.
A possible workaround is to compile this module without optimization (remove the -O option).
Side note: I see you are setting private macros associated with libCstd. We do not support modifying any macros starting with _RW. Those macros affect how the runtime library was built, and if you modify the macro settings, your code will not match the library. Possible results include failure to compile, failure to link, or unpredictable program behavior if the program does link.

exported the error log from lightroom still not working as it seems like the file (it's a screenshot) is more than a 8mo size file !

Error message is FAILED TO GET DISPATCH FROM IBRWSR2. Then when you click on it the next error message says: PHTML IS NULL. You have to click this error message twice and then the PDF finally loads. Happened every time

As a last resort I will try uninstalling the Adobe Reader XI and install Adobe Reader 10 instead. It seems to work ok. But when I try to install version 10 the Adobe site tries to install XI. Any ideas?
