[Solved]fbpanel won't read the right profile

I created a new user in my system named larry and wanted to launch fbpanel for this user, so i issued
fbpanel --configure
but it failed stating "Cant open /home/chucky/.config/fbpanel default profile"
i even tried fbpanel -p default but i got the same answer.
can someone please tell me why it searches the config file in an other users home dir?
Thanks

I suppose you changed user to larry with:
su larry
You should rather use
su - larry
to make the shell a login shell. (See how this change affects the XDG_CONFIG_HOME environmental variable.)

trying to import photos and copy as DNG. Nothing will upload though. Permissions are all accurate, saving to the right profile, etc. Nothing has changed on my computer but it will not let me import new pictures. Also, updated the software and some images say "preview cannot be seen" and some don't. And when I try to import and I hit "new photos" it's all the photos on my card. My brain is about to explode.

It said something similar where the thumbnails were supposed to be.
Just got the newest edition of LR, 4.4
4.4 is not the newest edition of LR
We don't want to know that it said "something similar", we want to know the exact wording. In fact, you ought to state the exact problem you are having, in detail, instead of saying you are having the same problem.

Apple recommends backing up the data when you're getting the battery replaced by them. So I assume that you will likely lose the data during this process.
Will the data on my iPhone be preserved?
No, during the service process all data on your iPhone will be erased. Before obtaining service, it is important to back up your data using iCloud or iTunes. Apple is not responsible for the loss of information while servicing your iPhone and does not offer any data transfer service. During service, Apple may exchange your iPhone with an iPhone that is new or equivalent to new in performance and reliability.
Following service, your iPhone may have a newer operating system (iOS) version and you will need torestore your data using the method used to back it up (iCloud or iTunes). As a result, you may also need to update your App Store applications to ensure compatibility with the newer iOS. If you experience a problem with an application purchased from the App Store, check to see if an update is available or contact the application vendor directly.

  • My iPod Shuffle won't read the name of playlists or songs

I got my first iPod shuffle 4GB... everything's working fine but just when I click and hold the centre button it won't tell me the names of the song... or when I try to change playlists it will tell me "playlist 1... playlist 2... playlist 3" instead of the names of the playlists. Though I can see the names in my iTune.
Can anyone help me...? Thanks a lot.. I was actually really looking forward to this name-reading function..
    Cheers

Thank you so much - yes it will read the names of the songs and playlist now! Thanks a lot for your help, without your answer i probably won't be able to figure it out myself. Cheers!

  • IMac won't read the System Install DVD after trying a Software Update (Whic

Last weekend I tried downloading the 10.4.7 update to my iMac. Towards the end of the download the iMac crashed out and said that the Software Update was unsuccessful. As this was the case I tried rerunning the 'Software Update' again but after a few seconds of the application running and the little window being on the screen, it just dropped out and exited. As this was therefore not working I tried to download the Software Update as a Stand Alone application. I found after downloading the file that mounting a disk image on my iMac no longer works. My next step was to try and reinstall OS X from the System Install DVD. I put the DVD in the DVD Drive and found that after it whirred for about 20 seconds, the disk ejected. I thought this was odd so I tried to boot the iMac , holding down the 'C' key once the DVD was in place inside the iMac. The Mac powered up and then the DVD whirred for a while and once again it ejected the DVD. I now have no way of reinstalling OS X..and am at a loss. I called up the supplier of the iMac as I only purchased it in May 2006. They advised me that the warranty only covers Hardware and not Software. They said with a problem like this it could be expensive to try and work out what is causing it as it is sort of an unknown. I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem, is there some way I can see what the iMac is doing when it is trying to read the DVD and the ejects it, and is there some way of 'resetting' the iMac so that it is in the initial state. I know the BIOS on these machines is a 'soft' BIOS so as the supplier said, it is quite possible that the Software Update has corrupted the soft BIOS on the machine. Any ideas?

Yes. It is possible that the DVD could be bad.
It is also possible that your corrupted installation is preventing the DVD from working right.
It would seem strange, except that this happened with another guy as well. But, once we disconnected his internal hard drive with the corrupted OS 10.4.7 install, the machine booted from the DVD and worked properly. We then connected a different hard drive to install to, and it worked fine. Then, we connected the drive as a secondary and formatted it and it resumed working.
But, with an iMac CoreDuo, you cannot open the machine to unplug the drive. So, you'll be a bit stuck if you require the same solution. He had a PowerMac G5.
But, basically, his corrupted OS 10.4.7 installation was preventing booting from a CD, booting into safe mode, booting from an external drive, or any other kind of booting.
So, for him, the only option was disconnecting the internal drive and installing on another one.
I hope this doesn't turn out to be necessary on your system as well. If so, you'll need to take it into the shop for servicing.
The only other option I could think of is to try and boot it into Target Disk mode, and format it's drive with another computer. Perhaps that would work.
Once your internal drive has been cleared (formatted), then it may boot from the DVD again (assuming your problem is the same as the other guys).
You can read about Target Disk Mode here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
You can read about the steps we took to troubleshoot and repair the other guys machine here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2629919#2629919
Perhaps that will help explain what I described above.
    I hope this helps.

  • Won't read the SD Card after going in for repairs

HELP - my 8520 curve won't read it's SD card? i know it's definately not the card as my wife just got a new BB also and it came with a brand new card that can't be read either. Thought i could live with it............ but can't. You can't have any music, video content etc............  My first blackberry died in a pint of guiness (don't ask), i took the sd card out before the insurance claim and had my fingers crossed that it would have survived the black death, but when my new replacement BB came it couldn't read the card.......... which i thought was down to the black stuff - initially.
However since then i've tried different cards leaving me to believe i may still have the data on the original and that the phone or card reader is cream-crackered? any clues?........ thanks in advance.

I've read on some forums this could be a card formatting issue, anyone got any thoughts on that?

  • Windows won't read the Drivers DVD

So I've installed Windows XP SP2 on my mac. It's the windows disk that came with my previous laptop, a dell pc. The installation of the windows went ok, and I'm able to boot my windows side up. For some reason, when I insert the drivers DVD, my mac won't read it and will only eject it. A friend of mine downloaded the drivers, and I tried that but I had no luck.
Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem may be?
    Thanks much!

OEM Dell/HP etc discs usually don't work (in a few cases they seem to) and of course transfering the activation key to a new computer??
By 'drivers DVD' I assume you are referring to OEM or retail Mac OS X 10.5 or later DVD? you could try copying the OS X DVD to a flash card from another PC and see if that works.

  • My computer is not recognizing the e drive. it won't read the disc or open the drive.

you can try system restore first and go back to the date when your notebook is still working fine...
    or you can try this...
    hope this helps...

  • Picture won't turn the right way

When I turn the phone the screen stays the same way and does not urn with the phone.

First make sure Orientation Lock is off. If your screen is locked to not rotate you will see an icon that looks like a small lock with a circular arrow. If you see this in the top bar of your phone on the right side use the Control Center to turn it off. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to reveal the Control Center. Look for the same icon and tap it to turn Orientation Lock off or on.

  • New Canon Rebel XSI, and Aperture won't read the .CS2 files properly??

    Hello all,
I have read through the posts but didn't fine one that answered my question. I just bought a Canon XSI and tried to upload my RAW files to Aperture, and first it showed the "unsupported image format" red screen. After messing around I could get it to see the images, but they were the size of thumbnails. It will read the JPG files fine. The Aperture site says that the CR2 files should work. I also tried deleting the rawfile in the system folder and re-ran the installer for 2.1 update, didn't change a thing. My Aperture version is 2.1.1. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    John

Lucked out and figured out the real problem thanks to Mark Olson's blog:
    http://markolson.ca/2008/07/17/canon-eos-450d-rebel-xsi-cr2-raw-on-mac/
It turns out that the problem was related to RAW+JPG. Mac does not import the RAW files properly and I should have suspected this being the problem when I noticed the RAW file size was way too small (exact same size as the JPG file).
Luckily I had not deleted the files from my memory card so I was able to go back and import the RAW images again. Now at this point I'm going to ask Steve to cover his eyes because I had to use Vista to download the files!
    All seems ok now.

  • Not reading the right data value

So I am reading data from a txt file that I created,in particular I am trying to pull out the first column which is the time data.  When I read it using the "Read from spreadsheet file.vi" I am getting unexpected values. For example when the first value in the file is 1491.044016 it displays 1491.044067, it does this for every value? I thought it may have been a formating issue but I set the vi %.9f on the formating field I'm not sure why it is handling the values this way? Any insights?
    thanks,
    Chris

Are you using LabVIEW 7.1 or older? In this case, "read from spreadsheet file" uses only SGL precision, which is not sufficient for your desired resolution.

Solution: Read the file as a plain string and then use "spreadsheet string to array" with DBL as type.
... or upgrade to LabVIEW 8.0 or higher.
LabVIEW Champion . Do more with less code and in less time .

  • Who I can read the right value of '' character ? Thanks!

Hi, I created a text file using plain editor ( notepad), when I try to read the character '' a got the symbol.
What I have to do ?
    Thanks in advance.

    There is no in ASCII.
If you are putting it in java source code, you will
have to substitute with a /u00F1Sorry, make that a \u00F1
