[SOLVED] libreoffice extension pdfimport do not work

I have installed the libreoffice-extension-pdfimport (3.3.2-2). But when I try to open a pdf file nothing happens (no error messages, just nothing). I have tried several pdf files (including ones produced by libreoffice itself). I remember that earlier version of this package did work. Is this package broken? Can anybody of this list use it? I would like to know before filling a bug report.
Update: After having updated my whole system, it works now

Hi,
thanks for help. After lunch I can see the tomcat HP now, the command
$ ss -lnp|grep
tcp    LISTEN     0      100      :::8080                 :::*
I edit the bashrc to point TOMCAT_JAVA_HOME to the java-sdk-8 - an older forum poster said he changed the bashrc to get sun java permanently. His error messages was caused because TOMCAT_JAVA_HOME pointed to openjdk.
So, my bashrc contains a line:
JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-jdk
I tried according to archwiki on Java:
# archlinux-java status
Available Java environments:
  java-8-jdk (default)
# archlinux-java set java-8-sdk
'/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-sdk' is not a valid Java environment path
I am confused ?!

  • [SOLVED] Lightdm theming (GTK) does not work?

    Hi,
    Silly maybe, but in trying out lightdm(-GTK) to replace gdm, I am unable to change the GTK-theme in /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf.
    I was able to change the background and the font, but the theme, the icon (and maybe cursor) remain the default grey. I have tried using Adwaita, which should be installed together with gnome 3 and I have installed gnome-shell-theme-faience from AUR to try it out. None of them are working.
    Maybe this is related:
    I do seem to have another problem with the user-theme-extension: it was outdated according to extensions.gnome.org, so I removed it with pacman and I installed it via the gnome website. But gnome-tweak-tool keeps telling me there is an error with the extension and I'm not able to set a user theme with that tool...
    Anybody have a clue? The wiki nor the AUR hold much info on this and the web is talking about the unity-greeter mostly...

    The lack of responses seem to indicate two possibilities:
    1. I'm the only one having a problem, or
    2. This is not a bug - I should theme lightdm-gtk manually.
    In either case: the extension-problem is solved now, so that should not interfere (anymore), and upgrading to the latest lightdm(-gtk-greeter) has not solved the problem...

  • [SOLVED] MSI GT70 keyboard buttons not working

    Hi! I am a normal user of computers that like games, so I bought this awesome notebook MSI GT70 i7 16gb ram GTX 675MX 128ssd+750hdd, with a keyboard by steelseries.
    Everything was ok, using the notebook as came when I bought, with OS windows 8, with no format nor modifications by me, using it since January 2013.
    The problem is that about 1 or 2 weeks some shortcuts of keyboard arent working anymore:
    - Wifi button isn't working and isn't becoming orange when pressed, and Fn+F8 isn't working either;
    - Screen shutdown button is becoming orange when pressed but not working;
    - Cd-dvd eject button is becoming orange when pressed but not working;
    - I tried also Fn+F9 and Fn+F12 shortcuts, and I think they arent working either.
    At the same time, the Cooler button and the Backlight's Keyboard button are working correctly. Turbo button maybe is working too but I don't know if something become overclock when I activate it.
    I would really appreciate some help, since I love my notebook very much, and I hope it's not a hard problem to solve.
    Thanks!

    Try resetting EC: >>How to reset the EC (Embedded Controller)<<
    If that doesN't help uinstall SCM and after reboot install latest version: http://www.msi.com/service/download/utility-19670.html
    Also try updating .Net Framework 4.5: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36377
    Hi,
    I followed your advice:
    1. uninstalled SCM, restarted
    2. installed SCM, restarted
    3. tried to update .net framework, had it already
    4. resat the EC
    But unfortunately it did not change my GE60 2OC's behaviour: when i press the back-light button it opens my browser with dragoonarmy/msi.com>/ BUT NO LIGHT.
    Do anybody have a suggestion to solve this??
    Thanks Kurt

  • [SOLVED] Suspend to ram / disk not working in newer kernels

    Hi all,
    this puzzles me for a while:
    My desktop system was able to suspend to ram / disk flawlessly in older kernels. It stopped working with 3.3. The suspend seems to work, the machine goes to standby. But when I try to resume, the machines is on but the screen stays black. Neither the console is working nor can I ssh into it. Only hard reset gets me out here
    I did investigate and found many tips and hints which all led to nowhere. I even changed my filesystem back from btrfs to ext4 and my VGA module from proprietary nvidia to nouveau.
    When this all failed I got to the idea to burn several install disks. One of the official 2011.08.19 (kernel 3.0.3) and one of the snapshots 2012.06.05_04-00-01 (kernel 3.3.7) and 2012.07.17_04-00-01 (kernel 3.4.4). I guess these can not be compromised by some hosed installation. I started one by one and issued the follwing command:
    echo mem > /sys/power/state
    which suspends the machine successfully in all three cases. With 2011.08.19 the resume is working but the other two fail. Some more info about the hardware:

    Another life-sign. The issue is still unsolved but I've come a little further. It seems to be a combination of more failures. The first one is USB hardware. I have a usb keyboard-mouse combo from Logitech (comfort cordless desktop). The USB bus does not wake up correctly when resuming from suspend. So my keyboard is unsuable. I put in a file /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-ehci_hcd with the following content:
    BUSES="0000:00:1a.7 0000:00:1d.7"
    case "${1}" in
    hibernate|suspend)
    # Switch USB buses off
    for bus in $BUSES; do
    echo -n $bus | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind
    done
    resume|thaw)
    # Switch USB buses back on
    for bus in $BUSES; do
    echo -n $bus | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/bind
    done

    The bus IDs were taken from /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd
    When I start pm-suspend from a console (no X started) this seems to reanimate my keyboard while the screen stays black (with backlight on). I can type and reboot. Also I can ssh into the machine from my laptop.
    Concerning the blank screen there seems to be a bug in both the proprietary nvidia modules as well as the nouveau driver. The nvidia folks have issued a new beta driver which seems to at least minimize the failures. This all concerns the nv50-family of nvidias cards. I have a GF8600GT which is one of these
    I'll wait for this driver and then restart my testing. Until then - no suspend/hibernate
    EDIT: Today's nvidia 304.32 is solving my issues - I can sleep again

    Solved my problem by blacklisting "carl9170", so only "ar9170usb" module is loaded.
    Blacklisting "ar9170usb" did not work here!
    Thanks
    EDIT:
    After update to Kernel 3.0 the ar9170usb module was removed. Now its not working anymore.
    When i load the carl9170 module,  it says
    [    2.979833] usb 3-1: firmware not found.
    Do I need any additional firmware?

  • [SOLVED} Suspend to ram does not work (with sleep, s2ram, pm-utils)

    Hi.
    I would like to ask for one thing: i can't suspend to ram or resume from suspend to ram.
    I treid to check over www in order to find some help, some solutions, and how to fix that. Unfortunately, i found these:
    https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread. … 13-2/page2
    https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=913105
    https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread. … S-13-1-x64
    Bug 91921 - WD 2TB Caviar black causes hard lock on resume S2RAM
    https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91921
    In fact, when i was researching of this problem i wanted to check if my graphic card and memory are failing so a did few changes (removed memory stick and so one) but in doing this i removed almost all of my hard disk drives because i didn't want to hurt them with many reboots or resets.
    What did i find? It is strange, kernel version is not important because i checked most of them.
    I removed 2x2TB Seagate F14 series along with 4x3TB WD Green. Then i checked s2ram, it went to suspend, and resumes correctly. Everything works. I put it to sleep with s2ram -f -a 1. Works
    I attached my 4x3TB WD Green drives. I put computer to sleep with s2ram...it causes hard lock, black screen, i could do only poweroff by powerbutton. s2ram -f -a 1 causes freez. Sometimes, but not constantly, s2ram -f -a 3 -p is being able to suspend...(mostly it does a freez, hard lock computer) but sometimes it is able to put it to a sleep, but resume just freezes everyting - no blinking cursor, no blinking num lock led and so on.
    I know that you would suggest me to check logs - this is the main problem. Logs for pm-suspend works when i suspend or resume without WD drives attached. When i have them connected, i'm not able to check pm-logs because computer hangs, freezes and logs are not being stored/writed to pm-suspend.log and pm-powersave.log.
    Could somebody help? Point me to a solution? I can't check logs because there are not any when freezing occurs. I checked openSuse thread and many others and for other systems there were some kernel fixex, patches.
    They wrote that WD blacks are at fault because they don't have APM. Well, in fact my WD Green have APM with very aggresive factory settings: they park heads over 8 seconds not being used. I disabled it in firmware but disabling it is not the point and not the problem. People have the same problem even with APM and parking heads on other WD drives, i found it that some have it with WD Red's drives and even with very old 320GB WD Blue series - what is more funny, i have 640GB AAKS blue from WD and with this drive i can suspend or resume - APM on this drive is also unavilable, like in Green series because i changed it with wdidle with prebootable cd. I can't  supend or resume with 3TB WD Greens.
    BTW - suspend to disk, with pm-utils and uswsusp works ok, in 100% every time. (i had to add "shutdown method = shutdown" to /etc/suspend.conf from uswsusp package).
    On Windows machine it works. Can suspend, can resume, can hibernate.

    Hm, sometimes i found myself astonished because some things just does not work at all on one machine, while the other one has no problem at all. I was trying to find why suspend to ram won't work at all...and while i was searching i found one topic that was leading to upower dbus. Similar problem with upower i found, by coincidence, on Manjaro forum.
    dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest="org.freedesktop.UPower" /org/freedesktop/UPower org.freedesktop.UPower.Suspend
    this command above returns all the time:
    Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Method "Suspend" with signature "" on interface "org.freedesktop.UPower" doesn't exist
    I tried this:
    sudo systemctl enable acpid.service
    sudo systemctl --system daemon-reload
    sudo systemctl restart systemd-logind
    As soon as i enabled and started acpid.service...my supend to ram, from kde, works like a charm, without graphic problem, or freezing.
    There is few question: why on my desktop suspend doesen't work out of the box, when even archwiki says it should? Why on my netbook machine (Acer AOD270) that has the same package installed it works out of the box? Why on my desktop machine acpid.service was not enabled, was not started and was not running while on the notebook it does?
    Anyway...i fixed it by a big coincidence because on Fedora forum somebody has problem with suspend to ram with nvidia GTX750 and this card was new like my card (GTX660). He posted the same problem with upower that i posted in quotes and because of this i found another thing on Manjaro forum and that was it!
    BTW - this problem, i now think, is not related to my WD drives because it works with them. I think that there was another one ugly thing that broke my suspend to ram ability - bios of my motherboard (so called uefi bios with support for old one) has no option for S1-S5 stated (like the previous motherboards had) and only have ASPM...and ASPM is in my opinion broken but i will try to veryfi it one again later.

  • [SOLVED] Front audio panel still not working on K9N Neo V3

    I already posted on this here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=113813.0.
    I still didn't get front audio panel to work on MSI K9N Neo V3.
    Even with my new case; Sharkoon Revenge, it is not working. It wasn't working on my previous noname case too. However, front audio panel on my previous case was working on several other MBs except on this MSI K9N.
    Now, I'm using the latest Realtek HD audio driver.  I think it's from February '08. Just as with the driver dowloaded by Vista via Windows Update, anything plugged in front audio panel isn't recognized. In this new version of Realtek driver I can't find this Disable front audio panel option so I can't tell if it is checked or not.
    Once more, there is not much to do wrong while connecting. Case front audio panel cabel is the same as on all other cases I've ever seen/had. It's a cable with the same number and position of pins as in all other cases. It fits fine on MSI K9N Neo V3. Rear audio panel is working fine.
    Any solution to this!?

    Quote from: Jack the Newbie on 07-April-08, 03:25:15
    From what I can see from the Sharkoon product page, the front panel connectors of your case are not compliant with the Intel HD Audio Pin Standard.
    Do you have a manual for your case that includes Pin/wire definitions for the front audio connectors?
    No. There was no manual in package. I never thought I will need one either.
    Here is Sharkoon Rebel Pin Assigment; http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/9729/pinslk2.jpg
    Quote from: Jack the Newbie on 07-April-08, 03:25:15
    Have you tried disabling automatic front panel jack detection in the Realtek HD Audio configuration utility?  If you don't know were to find that option, access the tab labeled "Audio I/O" and click on the tool icon.
    Yes, I tried disabling it. Two tabs (front audio out and front mic) appeared but none of it works.
    Quote from: HenryW on 07-April-08, 03:35:46
    From something I read: You can also physically check the audio cable of the front panel audio solution.  If there is a cable connected to Pin 4, you have an HD Audio module; if there is no cable to Pin 4, you have an AC97 module.
    I don't really understand this. Could you please check this on Pin Assignment scan I uploaded above!?

  • [SOLVED] Hybridgraphics: acpi_call after Kernelupgrade not working

    Hi,
    after upgrading from Kernel 3.14.6 to 3.15.1, deactivating the my Nvidia Optimus GT730M by using acpi_call seems not to work anymore. Calling the parameters which worked until now seems to succeed:
    bla$ sudo sh -c './gpuOff.sh && cat /proc/acpi/call'
    0x0called
    But neither I was able to observe any changes of the battery state nor the output of lspci has changed. As far as I can gather, there should be something like "rev ff" indicating a deactivated card?!
    bla$ lspci | grep VGA
    00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06)
    02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK208M [GeForce GT 730M] (rev a1)
    Acpi_call is up2date and compiled with current Headers.
    Maybe I'm missing something?
    Last edited by bl0b (2014-07-11 12:06:33)

    Sorry ^^
    The script simply contains the parameters for deactivating the NVIDIA card of my t440p.
    #!/bin/bash
    echo "\_SB.PCI0.PEG.VID._DSM {0xF8,0xD8,0x86,0xA4,0xDA,0x0B,0x1B,0x47,0xA7,0x2B,0x60,0x42,0xA6,0xB5,0xBE,0xE0} 0x100 0x1A {0x1,0x0,0x0,0x3}" >/proc/acpi/call
    echo "\_SB.PCI0.PEG.VID._PS3" >/proc/acpi/call
    exit 0
    I have checked both lines and both commands succeed, at least according to /proc/acpi/call.
    PS:
    Using bumblebee/bbswitch is not working for me since it causes data corruption

  • [SOLVED] Brightness control over keyboard not working, but it works...

    Hello,
    I recently got a new laptop at work and I put a fresh Arch on it.
    Almost everything works perfectly, but I have one weird issue.
    I can control backlight of my display via ACPI; I wrote a simple script for it:
    pabre@pbr-laptok:~$ cat /usr/local/sbin/brightness.sh
    #!/bin/bash
    DEV=/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
    MAX=`cat /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/max_brightness`
    ACT=`cat /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/actual_brightness`
    MIN=0
    STEPS=10
    STEP=$((MAX/STEPS))
    if [ $1 == "+" ]; then
    if [ $((ACT+STEP)) -le $MAX ]; then
    echo $((ACT+STEP)) > $DEV
    fi
    elif [ $1 == "-" ]; then
    if [ $((ACT-STEP)) -ge $MIN ]; then
    echo $((ACT-STEP)) > $DEV
    fi
    fi
    exit 0
    I put myself a sudoers entry for it:
    root@pbr-laptok:~# cat /etc/sudoers | grep pabre
    pabre ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/local/sbin/brightness.sh,/usr/bin/pacman -Sy
    And it works like a charm, when run from a terminal:
    pabre@pbr-laptok:~$ sudo /usr/local/sbin/brightness.sh -
    So, my next step was to bind that script to appropriate keys on my keyboard (Fn + UP/DOWN - which are XF86MonBrightnessUp and XF86MonBrightnessDown)
    My window manager is Awesome, so I put to the config:
    awful.key({ }, "XF86MonBrightnessUp", function () awful.util.spawn("sudo /usr/local/sbin/brightness.sh +") end),
    awful.key({ }, "XF86MonBrightnessDown", function () awful.util.spawn("sudo /usr/local/sbin/brightness.sh -") end),
    among others like touchpad toggling, volume control, etc (which are working without issues)
    And now, guess what... Those keys fire that script, change the brightness and after second or less - it comes back to old value! You can see that display blinks (for example gets brighter and moment after - it goes back to previous state).
    I tried to debug it, putting to the script something like:
    if [ $1 == "+" ]; then
    if [ $((ACT+STEP)) -le $MAX ]; then
    echo $((ACT+STEP)) > $DEV
    cat /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/actual_brightness >> /tmp/br.log
    sleep 1
    cat /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/actual_brightness >> /tmp/br.log
    fi
    And the first entry was that what it was supposed to be, while te other (second after) Was again the old value.
    Does anybody have any idea what "reverts" my changes to the /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness and why it works without issues when simply run from a terminal?
    Last edited by PaBre (2014-03-16 17:10:54)

    I think that I've found partial answer.
    When I changed key binds to another keys - it works!
    But even then, when I press XF86MonBrightnessUp or XF86MonBrightnessDown, the brightness level gets reset. And now they are not bind to anything (at last not explicit).
    So it looks that I have to found how to decouple the internal, not working as expected, bind to these keys.

    What I've read, there should be /usr/share/fonts/local/* too in that list.
    I run my window manager, dwm with startx and ~/.xinitrc has these lines before dwm:
    xset +fp /usr/share/fonts/local
    xset fp rehash
    I have also tried to include those with xorg.conf:
    $ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    Section "Files"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/local/"
    EndSection
    I'm using Ubuntu's patched versions of freetype, fontconfig and cairo if that has anything to do with my problem:
    freetype2-ubuntu fontconfig-ubuntu cairo-ubuntu
    Xft fonts work fine with urxvt, but bitmaps don't. What am I missing?

    There isn't a "tamsynu" family in the tamsyn-font package.  You're trying to use a font that doesn't exist on your machine.
    $ xlsfonts -fn "-*-tamsynu-*"
    xlsfonts: pattern "-*-tamsynu-*" unmatched
    $ xlsfonts -fn "-*-tamsyn-*"
    -misc-tamsyn-bold-r-normal--0-0-100-100-c-0-iso8859-1
    -misc-tamsyn-bold-r-normal--12-87-100-100-c-60-iso8859-1
    << And more >>
    The syntax for the resource is fine, but it is case-sensitive.  The class is 'URxvt', an instance would be 'urxvt'.
    This should be good for a first attempt at the proper size:
    urxvt.font: -misc-tamsyn-medium-r-normal--14-101-100-100-c-70-iso8859-1
    urxvt.boldFont: -misc-tamsyn-bold-r-normal--14-101-100-100-c-70-iso8859-1
    That's about equal to DejaVu Sans Mono at 8 points.
    If you have rebuilt your font cache, either by restarting X or running 'fc-cache -f', and you want to use Xft, then this is equivalent (Tamsyn does not use anti-aliasing):
    urxvt.font: xft:Tamsyn:style=Regular:size=10.1
    urxvt.boldFont: xft:Tamsyn:style=Bold:size=10.1

  • [SOLVED]ping and incoming connections not working

    Problem: eg.
    $ ping google.com
    PING google.com (209.85.148.99) 56(84) bytes of data.
    no answer so i press ctrl+c, i get:
    ^C
    --- google.com ping statistics ---
    56 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 54999ms
    i can't use any torrent client because it accepts connections only then i start client(tested with deluge and transmission). eg. i start deluge->torrent start upload->later it won't start upload, but it sends to server info, server get that info(i tested in situation there i'm the only seeder and there is only one leecher which is under my control)
    thoughts about that: i searched for solution for a long time, i very doubt that is a software issue, i think it's hardware problem(and about hardware i know nothing). why i think so:
    possible cause of problem:
    1. kernel upgrade to 3.0=with ubuntu live cd same problems, so it can't be it
    2. i deleted windows xp, windows writes something to network card or bios?
    3. hardware problem
    before problems started i not did something big, so problem could cause only these 3 items.
    i don't have firewall, there was one but for testing purposes i deleted it.
    network card Realtek RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet, driver is latest(but tested and older version)
    i tested with 2 different ISP's. one connected over lan and another just my phone connected as modem over usb cable. in both cases ping not work and all other network services works ok, i can browse, ftp works, i can download torrent(if torrent download starts with program start, not later), skype works, internet radio works, etc.
    question: what to do, to make torrents work as they worked earlier? i have this problem about few weaks, in past 3 years i don't have such problems.

    I(i mean browser) can reach everything and everythere, but "ping" can't reach sites. Tried ping sites in my country, same result. i get answer from ping only then i ping these sites:
    127.0.0.1
    and
    84.55.46.19(my ISP site for clients)
    i can't even ping 192.168.0.1(it's router, so how can i browse if i can't reach router?)
    and i can't ping 84.55.46.27(it's my ISP site for public)
    # tcptraceroute archlinux.org
    Selected device eth0, address 192.168.15.10, port 42318 for outgoing packets
    Tracing the path to archlinux.org (66.211.214.131) on TCP port 80 (http), 30 hops max
    1 192.168.15.1 0.940 ms 0.596 ms 0.553 ms
    2 84.55.40.129.ip.greitas.lt (84.55.40.129) 3.047 ms 2.047 ms 2.649 ms
    3 10.10.20.20 5.741 ms 5.935 ms 5.010 ms
    4 * * *
    ^C
    Same problems with different ISP so it's not my ISP problem.
    Another thing:
    # netstat -lnp|grep deluge
    unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 344527 1560/python2 /home/gymka/.config/deluge/ipc/deluge-gtk
    as i understand 344527 is port on which app listens, but in application shows that it listens on 51128, then i configured to use only 51128 and restarted deluge
    # netstat -lnp|grep deluge
    unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 522255 1641/python2 /home/gymka/.config/deluge/ipc/deluge-gtk[/deluge]
    transmission atleast shows that port 57781(don't know if it listen it)
    # netstat -lnp|grep transmission
    tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:57781 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1833/transmission-g
    tcp 0 0 :::57781 :::* LISTEN 1833/transmission-g
    udp 0 0 239.192.152.143:6771 0.0.0.0:* 1833/transmission-g
    udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:57781 0.0.0.0:* 1833/transmission-g

  • [Solved] Arch and virtual networking, not working as planned.

    Running pfSense trough virtualbox, running virtual machines behind it.
    What setup do I need, to get wireless LAN solely to pfSense. Currently I use the bridged setup in virtualbox as the WAN side. LAN is a host only adapter vboxnet0, all other VM's connect through that virtual adapter.
    I would like to use a second host only adapter on a different subnet, but, once I create the adapter vboxnet1 and add it as second LAN card OPT1 to pfSense, internet stops working on the first LAN, though I can still ping google from the pfSense box.
    How do I get Arch to not use the wireless connection but only the second host only adapter.
    At the moment I use NetworkManager for the network.
    Current setup (working):
    Router –                                         192.168.1.1
    Arch bare hardware, main OS – 192.168.1.9   (wireless)
    pfSense WAN -                             192.168.1.12 ( through wireless)
    pfSense LAN  -                              10.10.2.1
    host only adapter vboxnet0 -        10.10.2.3
    I would like to add (not working):
    pfSense OPT1 -                            10.10.10.1
    host only adapter vboxnet1 -        10.10.10.3
    But this fails for unknown reasons.
    What do I miss, or should I do different, thanks in advance, Mark

    All is working well. I extended to four virtual adapters, one for the Arch host, and a wireless AP connected to eth0, bridged to pfSense. All applications on the host are finding the pfSense squid proxy, I have libproxy installed. Set the default gateway on the host to be the proxy of pfSense.
    Now I can use my laptop to connect to insecure networks while not belonging to it, and host for friends at the same time, very nice

  • [SOLVED] Modify keymap to adress not working key problem

    Hi,
    my q key is not working, do you guys know if it's possible to modify my keymap to get another key (caps loc would be good) working as if it was a q ?
    Thanks

    You can use Xmodmap to assign another key to output "q".

  • [Solved] Remote X over ssh not working

    Hello, I'm trying to forward X11 over ssh but it's not working.
    I type
    ssh -X 192.168.1.101
    followed by my password, and I log in just fine.
    I try to launch an X11 application and I get
    $kate
    kate: cannot connect to X server
    SSH is supposed to be forwarding a dummy $DISPLAY to allow remote X.  So I type
    $echo $DISPLAY
    and and get back a empty newline.
    Well how about
    $xinit
    Fatal server error:
    Server is already active for display 0
    If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock
    and start again.
    Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
    at http://wiki.x.org
    for help.
    Okay, I'll shut down xserver.
    I do it, and type
    $xinit
    again.  KDE launches on my remote box.  It makes sense, but contradicts many guides I have read which say it should launch on my local machine.
    What am I doing wrong here?  This should be ridiculously simple.

    Did you enable X forwarding in your sshd config?
    Did you xhost + (or ssh -Y)?
    Did you crop your DISPLAY variable in a bashrc or similar script run at login?
