[SOLVED]Lost my us.map.gz

Well... I lost my /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/us.map.gz
I accidently deleted it...
Could someone upload it somewhere and provide a link?

  • Help - have lost all my maps on 5230

Hi, I installed a 4GB memory card this morning, Initially the phone didn't register it but after a few tries I finally got it to see the card but it only showed 1.5GB free. Put a question up on the general phone thread but not had any reply as yet. Was browsing through the user guide and came across formatting the memory card, which showed as E: Memory Card and wondered if that might be the problem so went ahead thinking that I hadn't had a memory card installed before so nothing to lose. BIG BIG MISTAKE because i have now lost all my maps & voice guidance files, this after having got them setup perfectly thanks to help on the forum. I have reinstalled OVI Maps and OVI Suite recognises my device, it shows bottom left, but after connectingto the Map server it reports "can't find maps or voice guidance file in your device". Tried a couple of times but same result, wish now I had left everything alone, very annoyed with myself. Hope someone can help me restore my maps.
Should also mention that there are no maps or voice guidance files showing for download on the left hand side of the OVI Suite screen and of course nothing in my device.
My device shows C: with 17MB free.
    Thanks
    Solved!

Hi I am at a complete loss as to where I am and what I am doing. Firstly, I didn't back up because I hadn't had a memory card in the phone before and yet Maps worked OK. It also worked OK with the card eventually in,it was just the misread of capacity that caused me an issue, even made me suspect the memory card which is an Integral micro SD HC sold by Intomobilephones.co.uk as compatible with the 5230. Just to check i uninstalled the memory card, reinstalled the ovi-maps installer and tried to recreate the maps but firstly I got a message saying no memory card and USB may not work as expected and then the same OVI Suite error. So after a couple of attempts I reinstalled the memory card & ovi-maps installer. The memory card is reported as E:Memory Card with 1.8GB despite the card being 4GB. If by chance the card is faulty can I make the phone use it's own memory for maps as it was when first purchased., would this allow maps to be downloaded/installed. I then did as you suggested and opened the maps application and got the OVI Maps menu with My position-Search etc. I then opened OVI Suite but just as before it connected to the map server and then told me it couldn't find any maps or navigation guide files on my device and it doesn't give the option to download any from the map server, which seems really strange to me. I am really desperate to get this sorted and need divine guidance.I am going away at the end of the week and I wanted to use the Sat Nav.

  • Updated my iPad 2 to ios6 and wish I didn't. Lost the wonderful maps app and I'm miserable.  Is there a replacement app coming from google with street view for iPad?

Looking to the community for a suggestion for the best replacement map app for my ipad2.  I regret "upgrading" to ios6 when I lost the old maps app.  I used it daily and had perfect functionality for my purposes.  Now I wish I'd researched it more before I clicked '"install."  Is there a google replacement coming soon with street view that works like the old one?  Is apple working on fixing the existing app to include the features of the old app?   So sad....wish I could go back!

I tried the google Maps app on my iPad2 but it looked terrible.  Blurry when expanded to 2X, clumsy and not intuitive.  Terrible for my purposes and way different from the old Google Maps app.  Per International Business Times (12/13/12):
"While iOS users may be rejoicing at the return of their favorite navigation app, it should be noted that Google Maps has not yet launched for the iPad. The version currently available in Apple’s App Store is only for the iPhone, and Apple Maps will still act a the default Maps App on iPhones even after Google Maps has been installed."
Perhaps it'll look/behave better when an iPad version is eventually released.   But thank you anyway.
Gonna try the EggMapsHD.  Just wish there were some reviews out there.

  • [SOLVED] Lost Sound After Upgrade

Solved (for now at least). The problem appears to be a bug with alsa. Alsaconf writes a file called /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf, which contains the aliases for the sound card. But for some reason it then wasn't reading the file. Copying the alias entries to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf to read directly from there seems to have worked.
Now to fix the frequency scaling.
    ===================== solved ===========================
I lost all sound after the last upgrade. I just rebooted because frequency scaling is also not working, and no sound.
all drivers seem to be there:

I tried firefox, xine, mythfrontend, avidemux2, xmms and mpg123 - there's no sound in any app. If I play something where there are indicators, like in xmms, the eq indicator levels jump, the song progresses like it's playing, but no sound. I reran alsaconf, it seems to be configured properly. The mixer sliders work and aren't muted. It doesn't work either as root or as user.
I have another computer hooked up through the line out and the sound still works fine there, so it doesn't appear to be a hardware problem.
I'm completely stumped at this point. If it's a bug somewhere, what's it a bug in to cause global sound loss? Is there anything else I'm overlooking? All I can think is that it must be muted somewhere, but I can't find it. Or else it has something to do with the cpu and cpu freq scaling that's also broken now.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

  • [SOLVED] Lost Tuba CineBass booster

Hi all. I have Acer Aspire 5739g and after upgrade kernel to version 3.3.1 sound lost low frequencies. I watched this topic and hoped, that after bump to 3.3.3 this problem will disappear, but nothing has change. On linux-lts all works fine.
my modprobe.conf contains the following lines:
    options snd-hda-intel model=acer-aspire-6530g
    options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1
Maybe someone has the same model without this problem? I also thought to send a bug report to developers, but i don't know how and to whom
P.S. Sorry for my English, it is not very good.

After viewing the source code linux-lts, to solve this problem, I wrote a patches, they work for my Acer Aspire 5739g with
    options snd-hda-intel model=acer-aspire-6530g
    options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1
in modprobe.conf and must work for Acer Aspire 6530g

  • [SOLVED] Lost MAC address on network card

It seems that my wired ethernet card has lost its MAC address. Some information/output:
    # lspci|grep Ethernet
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
The card uses the sky2 kernel module
    # dmesg|grep sky2
    sky2 0000:02:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16
    sky2 0000:02:00.0: setting latency timer to 64
    sky2 0000:02:00.0: v1.22 addr 0xf7dfc000 irq 16 Yukon-2 EC Ultra rev 2
    sky2 eth0: addr 00:00:00:00:00:00
    Adding a line
    #ifconfig eth0 hw ether <random-address-here>
to the startup-scripts makes it possible to use the nic, but it seems like a very temporary solution.
I don't know what can have caused this. Maybe the winter cold here in Norway erased some part of the nic's ROM?
    - Does anybody have any idea how I can remedy this?
    - Do I have to send the laptop in for repair to get it restored?

iBertus wrote:I suppose a driver bug could have corrupted the ROM on the network card. Do you have a Windows install that you can boot into to see if the card is working correctly with those drivers?
Using "ipconfig /all" on windows showed the same zeroed mac address, so I guess the problem isn't (wasn't) linux-specific.
I left the pc in my locker at school last night and when I started it up again this morning the mac had mysteriously returned! Maybe the university leprechaun was bored yesterday.
So I guess the problem is solved, for now... Thanks anyway!

Edit: Well when I do "startxfce4", I get the graphical interphace, but there is no internet connection.
Edit 2: Well, "dhcpcd eth0" brings it . But I really wouldn't want to do those two commands upon every boot.

No I didn't actually !! I just had "(syslog-ng network netfs crond)". Dunno why my rc.conf defaulted to that.. I believe that fixed the problem. I'll boot later today.. but hey, if that did indeed fix the problem: you're the man !
I myself would never had even thought about that.
Edit: yep, that fixed this. Thanks again!! -> marking as [Solved].

  • N900 lost keyboard default map, how to restore?

My N900 has Scandinavian (Finnish) keyboard.
After installing a couple of games(Duke nukem 3d and Abuse) and I think one of these probably crashed, it got left in US keyboard mode (I think).
I see that there is a new file created called
    /home/user/int_kb_layout
that has string "us" inside it.
Just deleting this file and restarting the phone does not help. Searching around I find that perhaps some tool called /usr/bin/gconftool-2 might need to be used, but I got more confused.
Therefore I might ask in general how one can get back their default keyboard maps for their N900?
    Thanks,
    Brett
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I found  resetting to factory setting worked to get me out of this problem:
    1. got to menu
    2. got to setting
    3. with setting page open, next to battery icon on top of mobile center
    4. click on setting
    5. then restore factory setting

  • [Solved] Lost sound with xMonad

    Hello,
I lost the sound when I run xMonad. When I run gnome everything works fine. Someone from the xMonad mailing list said I must be forgetting to start alsa or pulseaudio daemons. How do I do that?
    Thanks!

I ran alsamizer and turned the volume to maximum for everything.
EDIT: I set myself in the audio group, but still unable to get any sound
speaker-test does this (before I interrupt it, it seems to do something forever):

Buffer size range from 2048 to 16384
Period size range from 1024 to 1024
    Using max buffer size 16384
    Periods = 4

  • Problem BW  : DTP lost source system mapping  and new one created?

I had a little question concerning the BI content activation, when you have to activate objects and there are two source systems, one of them already with a flow working. Do you have to check both source systems in your screen of source system selection, if there are shared objects? I was afraid if I only checked the one I wanted the existing one would dissappear? I donu2019t want to touch the existing one as it was a 3.5 flow which has been migrated to 7.0.
I have also another question, which is a worse scenario of what has happened recentlyu2026!! Imagine you have originally one source system in your BW DEV environment (towards QA) with a certain amount of Datasources connected to it as well as some DTPu2019s. A new source system was added to this BW DEV (towards PROD). Do you think adding this new source system could have an impact in the mapping of the DTP towards the Datasources? In fact, some of our DTP have been modified and they are pointing to the incorrect Datasource/Source system. These DTP were created manually as well as the Transformations as it was a former 3.5 flow. Do you know a way to bring it back to itu2019s previous connection. Maybe a table that points to the correct source system or a function module? RSBKDTP and RSBK* tables do not store this info (only descriptions) and RSRV doesnu2019t do it.
Please let me know if you have had a similar case! Points are waiting and the gratitude of my boss...lol

    Any ideas?

  • [SOLVED] Lost mimetypes

After last update (today), KDE has lost most of the file associations, and all files are displayed in the environment as text files. Searching through the forums do not just find out what the problem is. Does anyone ever thought something like this?

Remove icon-cache.kcache has not worked. I've noticed that even deleting my /home/user/.kde4 the problem was still there. Finally I decided to reinstall kde again and the error has been fixed.
    Thanks anyway.

  • [SOLVED] Lost write permissions ~/ directory since migrating to F2FS

I recently moved my /home directory on to a partition that is formatted with the F2FS file system. Since doing that my regular user can no longer write to the ~/ directory even though the folder permissions look OK.
So my permissions for my /home/marko directory are:
    drwx------    marko users
    ("marko" owning the directory)
And  the partition it is located on is formatted with f2fs with  the following mount options in fstab:
    defaults,rw,nofail,noatime

Thanks, I just realized problem is actually due to user error. I'm so used to my usual shell starting me in my  user directory that I did not realize the new shell I was using was actually starting me in the "/" directory (as a regular user). I'll mark this "solved," and my apologies for the wild goose chase.

  • [Solved] KDE 4.4 map activities to desktops

Did anybody who upgraded to KDE 4.4 get this to work? Seems to be just as buggy and unusable as in 4.3. I was really hoping this would work this time around considering the amazing improvement the rest of KDE has made in 4.4.

I don't understand exactly what you did. Could you be a little more clear? Did you also have problems with non-existant context menus and wallpapers not loading? Can you be a little more clear?
Exactly how do you map activities if it isn't done automatically when you use the desktop dialog.
If you'll refer to this: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=705991 You will see I am having issues. and so far no clear answer given.
