[SOLVED] Missing acpi hwmon sysfs interface on Eeepc 1000H
Hi,
I am running a fresh install using Linux 3.15.8-1-ARCH kernel on Asus Eeepc 1000H and there is a problem with the detected thermal sensors.
After configuring sensors using sensors-detect (yes to all answers, full detection), I only get this:
$ sensors
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +4.0°C (crit = +90.0°C)
eeepc-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
fan1: 970 RPM
It misses the acpitz-virtual-0 corresponding to the acpi thermal zone which temperature can be read in /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp and with "acpi -t" command.
Unfortunately, the temperature reported by coretemp-isa-0000 sensor is wildly wrong, and cannot be used to drive fancontrol, whereas the acpi temperature is correct.
I checked that hwmon, thermal_sys, coretemp and eeepc_laptop modules are loaded.
I also tried to add /etc/sensors.d/EeePC-0123456789 as said in https://forums.archlinux.fr/topic14506.html (french):
chip "acpitz-virtual-0"
label temp1 "temp1"
compute temp1 @-20,@-20
label temp2 "Core 0"
compute temp2 @-20,@-20
but I am not able to get the desired output of sensors -u. all I get is that:
$ sensors -u
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0:
temp2_input: 2.000
temp2_crit: 90.000
temp2_crit_alarm: 0.000
eeepc-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
fan1:
fan1_input: 980.000
I also tried to install acpi-eeepc-generic from AUR, but unsurprisingly, it did not change anything.
All I can tell about former behaviour is that I had no problem running sensors and using fancontrol with Xubuntu 12.04 which uses 3.2.0 kernel.
Can someone give me a clue of what is going on here about missing acpitz-virtual-0 sensor ?
Best regards,
archer38

The computer is now broken, so marking thread as solved even if the issue has not been really solved.

I bought an hdtv capture card: Fusion HDTV7 RT Gold, for which the drivers already exist in the kernel, and the small firmware file is available for placement in /lib/firmware. No problem -- put the card in, started xine and got a brilliant hdtv picture. The sensitivity of this card is remarkable, since I am in a difficult reception area. But trying to fine tune the antenna led to difficulties neither femon or atscap worked any longer. The following from dmesg suggests that I have an ACPI driver conflict, and that a driver is missing:

Eeepc 1000H and elantech/synaptics result in no tapping
Hi,
since an update some days ago my touchpad isn't working anymore the way I want it. I use an uptodate archlinux and a custom compiled 2.6.31.5 kernel. I have no xorg.conf and this is my 11-x11-synaptics.fdi :

The behavior now is: scrolling works the way I want it but tapping doesn't work at all. I have to start the gsynaptics gui to make tapping work but gsynaptics-settings aren't remembered when I reboot. Also executing gsynaptics-init with gnome doesn't solve that problem.
How can I make tapping work again by default, so I don't have to execute gsynaptics after each boot and activate it?
greetingsI have an eeepc 1000h with standard install, I did the upgrade to kernel 2.6.31.
now my touchpad has no tapping, neither three fingers scrolling. the weird thing is that the right side of the touchpad is working like a scrolling wheel...
Also the tapping is working when I select my session or user in GDM, and afterwards it's gone, kaput, finito...
sorry im not bringing any solution, but as we are in more or less the same situation...

These are the arguments passed to the handler script ($1 to $4).
handler.sh from acpid package:
case "$1" in

#echo "PowerButton pressed!">/dev/tty5
case "$2" in
PBTN|PWRF) logger "PowerButton pressed: $2" ;;

Replace the logger "PowerButton [...]" command (which is responsible for the message.log line you quote) with a shutdown invocation. -
Some fields missing from the Information interface
On iTunes 12 I can’t find the "Description" field that was in the Video page.
The field still shows in the list of songs, but it doesn’t appear on the new "Information" interface. And I don't think this is the only field missing compared to the previous Information interface. Can anyone help? Thank you.... before you click Get Info.

YES!
Thank you turing! That really helped.
(it seems a bit of a complication to me, the system was just fine as it was, but what do I know?) -
Access Restriction tab is missing on e3000 web interface
I am quite sure that this tab has been there before but now its missing - could it be because I have activated Parent Control on Cisco Connect ?
If so - how do I 'get It back'
(I thing parent control in Cisco connect is too limited)
Regards
Fleohans
Solved!
Go to Solution.Yes, the Access Restrictions tab goes away when the Parental Controls section is activated. According to the faqs, a hard reset is the only way to restore it.

[SOLVED]Missing /usr/lib/libgssapi.so when using conserver client
With newly MIT krb5 in [Core] repo, everything I using console ( the client of conserver: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=27856), I got a compain about missing /usr/lib/libgssapi.so error.
I recompiled it, but not work.
Manaully create a link from /usr/lib/libgssapi_krb5.so will solve this problem.
But still confusing about why recompile the software don't goes to correct lib file.
Anyone can give me a clue?

After Deploying an Image: Windows Boot Manager - Missing ACPI.sys
Hi,
I am currently working on deploying a Windows 7 Pro x64 image to a number of clients over our network using FOG. We used KVM in Ubuntu to build the base image. The image has a small virtual disk for the Windows installation and is deployed to clients with larger
drives. Prior to capture the image, we ran sysprep /generalize /shutdown /oobe /unattend:unattend.xml, then boot the VM to the FOG client and let FOG save off the disk image. We then deploy the image to clients over FOG.
FOG successfully copies the image over, then reboots the PC. The computer attempts to boot from the local hard drive, then fails at the Windows Boot Manager screen, saying:
Windows boot manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause....
File: \Windows\system32\drivers\ACPI.sys
Status: 0xc0000098
Info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing or corrupt.
I've updated the client's BIOS, tried a different hard drive, used ATA secure erase to wipe the drive before formatting, and still encounter this same issue with certain client computers. Are there any other steps I can take to resolve this issue?
What files in Panther should I look at (or post) to troubleshoot? I don't see anything too obvious in diagerr, and sestuperr.log is just about empty. We're using two models of 120GB SSDs, and deploying to 5 different motherboards (4 Intel models + 1 MSI model). The issue is most common with the DH55TC Intel boards.
We're using FOG due to budget limits--otherwise, WDT definitely would have been considered. -
[SOLVED] Missing mixer device in /dev/snd??
I'm trying to get the gkrellm volume plugin working. When I try to configure it, the plugin can't find any mixer devices. My next step was to check the plugin source which notes that "enable_alsa=1" should be an argument to make. Since this wasn't in the PKGBUILD script, I added it and rebuilt the package. After updating and installing, I restarted gkrellm, but was still unable to locate a mixer. Since sound is working just fine, i started digging deeper.

I've been unable to locate a snd_mixer module for the kernel and there is no /dev/snd/mixerC?D?
I thought that the ALSA interface had changed since I last compiled from scrath (I was a Slacker from kernel 1.2 until I migrated to Ubuntu, and now to Arch), but according to http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index. … ibrary_API, /dev/snd/mixerCXDX is still part of the interface specification.
Did I miss an ALSA pacakage that's required to get /dev/snd/mixerCXDX?
Or has the ALSA implementation changed (/dev/snd/mixerCXDX deperecated), in which case the gkrellm plugin needs to be updated? Google didn't turn up anything definitive and the alsa-driver-1.0.2 source tarball doesn't include a changelog.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I'm taking a look at Conky now as a potential replacement for gkrellm, since it hasn't been updated in years. -

Missing ACPI\TOS6205 Driver
I have a Z930 laptop. Installed clean Windows 7x64. And missing one driver.ACPI\TOS6205 as unknowndriver. After some searching this comes up as a BT ACPI driver. I was able to find a driver on line and after installing the driver is properly indentified in the device manager. However after the reboot system goes in the repair mode and then reboots and driver is still missing. None on the blue tooth drivers from the toshiba website resolve the issue.
Some other forums say that this might be HDD driver. I tried downloading HDD drivers for the Toshiba website but none of them work. Z930 has an SSD drive. SSD driver "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver
" does not help either. Thanks for the help. Running HHD protection i get an error that "HHD Protection is not supported on tbhis model"
Downloads for 64-bit Windows 7
reinstall windows 64 ultimate
When you reinstall Windows 7, all the applicable drivers and utilities must be installed in order for the laptop to work as designed. And the order matters. So start over with a clean install of Windows.
You should install the Intel chipset software and the Intel display driver prior to any other drivers. That sets up the motherboard. I would install the Intel Management Engine and Storage driver next.
If the wireless or Bluetooth doesn't work after that, I expect you have a hardware malfunction. -
IDSM missing traffic on trunk interface
Hi
I have a scenario where an IDSM with IPS 6 is triggering on traffic from a non-trunk interface but when the same traffic passes over another VLAN on a trunk.
Monitor setup is like this
monitor session 10 source interface Gi1/2
monitor session 10 source interface Gi7/1
monitor session 10 filter vlan 22 - 23 , 208
monitor session 10 destination intrusion-detection-module 5 data-port 1
where 1/2 is the non-trunk interface and 7/1 is the trunk. Traffic from VLAN 23 is firewalled/NATed and sent out on VLAN 208 towards our edge network.
The exact case is that when I browse an external web site with SQL code in the HTML I get an SQL Injection alert from VLAN 208 only. I never get the alert for the same traffic passing behind the firewall over the trunk. When I set a sniffer as source for the SPAN session I see the HTTP request with the SQL code passing through the trunk interface as well as VLAN 208.
Am I missing something here? Shouldn't and IPS report ALL occurrences of bad traffic?
Regards
Fredrik HofgrenWhat has to be upgraded, the Catalyst IOS or the software on the IDSM? Our Catalyst has IOS 12.2(18)SXF5 and the IDSM the latest version 6.0(3)E1.
It seems odd that it would be a problem with missing VLAN tags. When I set the IDSM to manually capture traffic from an IP in the inside VLAN passing over the trunk the VLAN tag is present when I view the packets in Ethereal.

[SOLVED] Recipe for target 'src/Interface/openxcom-ComboBox.o' failed
I've been having some problems with installing openxcom, most of which appear to come from a problem with yaml-cpp 0.5.2-2, and thus, the git file in the AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/openxcom-git/) was updated with a rollback yaml-cpp.
When I tried to build this package, there was an error involving some recipe.
CXX src/Interface/openxcom-ComboBox.o
src/Interface/ComboBox.cpp: In member function ‘size_t OpenXcom::ComboBox::getHoveredListIdx() const’:

After finding this post, I think it may have something to do with a header file that is missing, but I'm not sure.
Thank you for your time.
Last edited by Sailol (2015-06-08 01:00:46)Mmm, the git package (maintained by me) frequently fails due to warnings since it's a developmental package. You can override the warnings by changing enable_werror to no in configure.ac (before you run autogen.sh in the prepare function).
sed -i 's:werror=yes:werror=no:' configure.ac
Should do it.
EDIT: I'd avoid the -git package for the time being, seems like a lot of stuff isn't getting installed correctly at the moment. I'll try to fix it up and upload a new PKGBUILD tomorrow.

[solved] missing latest backups for iPhone after getting replacement phone
Thought I would share this one in case anyone else runs into it.
My the speaker on my wife's iPhone 4 on Verizon had stopped working for phone calls for the second time and a restore didn't fix it, so she returned the phone and they gave her a new one at the store. We had made several backups over the last few days, the most recent was this morning.
So tonight we hooked up the new phone to iTunes and got ready to restore it, but iTunes said the restore was last updated in FEBRUARY. What?! My wife freaked out thinking all her photos etc. were now lost for good.
I held off on the restore and decided to do some checking around before doing anything. I found the folder where the restore files are, and sure enough I found files from today. I copied that folder just in case. I also checked in iTunes itself and the backups were listed. So what was up?!
It finally occured to me that we had recently upgraded her phone to iOS 5, but that the new iPhone 4 from the store was probably still on iOS 4 -- maybe iTunes was not smart enough to see this situation and tell us about it, and maybe it won't listed iOS 5 backups for an iOS 4 phone.
Well that turned out to be the case. But what to do to fix it? I figured if I could get iOS 5 onto the phone, we would be all set. But I didn't want to tell iTunes to label it as a new phone either -- I'm not sure if that would be permanent or what. So I took a leap of faith and held down the power button and home button simultaneously for a while, past the power off notification, until the phone prompted to be connected to iTunes to be restored.
Then I plugged it back into the computer (this is Windows 7, by the way). Sure enough iTunes said it detected a phone in recovery mode, and would I like to have iTunes restore it to factory settings and put on the latest iOS? I sure would, so I did that and waited...
After that was done, iTunes wanted me to active the phone with Verizon. We had already done that an hour earlier over the phone, but tried it anyway, and it failed. We ignored that failure and went into the phone in iTunes -- it now asked if it was a new phone or if we should restore it -- and the backup from this morning was listed. Phew!
Finally completed the restore. I noticed that all of the passwords for all apps were lost -- unlike with a normal restore/backup on the same phone -- but everything else (pcitures, apps, etc.) was there. Thank goodness!
So, if you have upgraded the iOS version and have to replace your phone and the nreplacement has an older iOS verison, then that may explain why your backups appear to be missing...Yes, I tried. But nothing is working. I am feeling bad as such a costly phone stop working in 1.4 year ?
I am just sharing my experience.
I am not ranting but yes angry as I am eligible for upgrade in Nov 2012 so don't want to pay $149 for replacement as I can upgrade to iPhone 5.
Apple expert please help me how can I fix it. It's completely software issue.
