  • [SOLVED]Pacman try to install old version packages which not exists

When I tried to install django, pacman reported 404 error.
And I found that pacman tried to install django-1.4.3-1 while the resposity I used only has django-1.4.4-1
    I've deleted all resposities except
    Server = http://mirrors.163.com/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
    And then I tried
    pacman -Syy
    but it seems useless.

    pacman -Syy
At last, I can install django now..
I think this topic can be marked as SOLVED. Should I mark it or the administrator will do this?(In fact I do not know how to mark it.:))
You shouldn't use ftp.archlinux.org, it's throttled. Use another mirror instead.
I just use ftp.archlinux.org occacionally to fix the problem.
Sometimes I don't want to wait the mirror updating itself.

You must use pacman -Syy when changing mirrors. openjpeg is at version 1.4-1. You should not expect to find openjpeg 1.3-3 anywhere.

  • [SOLVED] Pacman unable to install packages due to invalid or corrup...

    Hullo,
I know this is a common error judging by the results google lists for that subject. But all sollutions I found don't work for my specific case.
My battery died on my laptop and when I rebooted and tried to install a package pacman complained the database was locked (can't remember if I was installing something or else while my battery died, happend while I was away).
So since I've just rebooted I deleted the lock-file by hand. Now when ever I tried to install something it would complain:
error: xyz: signature from "xyz @ zyx" is unknown trust
:: File /var/cache/pacman/pkg/packagexyz.pkg.tar.xz is corrupted (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature)).
Do you want to delete it? [Y/n] y
error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))
So I removed /etc/pacman.d/gnupg, cleared the package-cache and ran pacman-key --init:
    gpg: /etc/pacman.d/gnupg/trustdb.gpg: trustdb created
gpg: no ultimately trusted keys found
gpg: Generating pacman keyring master key...
gpg: key B99666F8 marked as ultimately trusted

    gpg: depth: 0 valid: 1 signed: 0 trust: 0-, 0q, 0n, 0m, 0f, 1u
    followed by pacman-key --populate archlinux:
    ==> Appending keys from archlinux.gpg...
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
    ==> Updating trust database...
gpg: no need for a trustdb check
    and pacman-key --refresh-keys:
gpg: refreshing 1 key from hkp://pool.sks-keyservers.net
gpg: requesting key B99666F8 from hkp server pool.sks-keyservers.net
gpgkeys: key AA3E1E751B31AB9C2E6CDA64F2A911E7B99666F8 can't be retrieved
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
    gpg: Total number processed: 0
==> ERROR: A specified local key could not be updated from a keyserver.
It looks like it's not doing much. Anyway, trying to install packages or upgrading the system results in me having to import a bunch of keys and then failing with the before mentioned error.
    Anything I can do?
    Thanks

  • Download bar moves, but doesn't install anything.

    Hello,
I have searched the internet but I can't seem to find a solution to this issue. My fiance got a new computer with windows 8.1 on it and the app is attrocious. He went to download skype desktop and got it downloaded, but when he went to install it, it took nearly 2 hours for it to even get anywhere. He cancled the install, figuring something must be wrong. When he looked through his computer, there wasn't a single file for the windows desktop anywhere to be found. I asked him how far along the bar was but, all it does it just has this little repearting animation during the install process, so I don't know how far it was. Is there a way to fix this, because the app for windows 8 is not good at all. It crashes and drops anything when someone else sends him a message, he can't look at other conversations when a call is going, it's just terrible. If anyone has a solution for the windows 8 install issue that he is having, that woudl he much appreciated.

Try to install the currently latest Skype 7.10.105 version using this installer:
    http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_7.1.0.105.msi

You are trying to install Python applications that are not compatible with Python 3.
Try using the pip2 command from the python2-pip package.

I had an issue like this during an update several months ago.  Reflector was the problem package and the existing files were owned by reflector.  I think it's worth mentioning since reflector is also a python package.  Anyway, iirc I simply removed and reinstalled reflector.
Unfortunately, it won't be so easy for you since pyastpi is part of a dep-chain leading to gnome-shell... looks like you're going to have to figure out how to do it the right way

  • [SOLVED] Pacman error when installing Arch from installation cd

Hey I''ve been checking the wiki, forum and even google and I've found some responses but they don't seem to apply to my problem and I just need a little help.
I'm at the 4th step "Select Packages" and when I select it I get "Pacman preparation failed!  Check /dev/tty7 for errors"
the error on tty7 is "pacman:  error while loading shared libraries:  /usr/lib/libalpm.so.4:  cannot read file data:  Input/output error"
I apologize if this is an easy fix but its been almost a year since I've used arch and I'm a bit spoiled with ubuntu.
****The cd was outdated. Burning a new copy fixed it*****

I'm afraid it might be too old.  I'm going to try to burn a new copy tomorrow when I can borrow a friends computer.  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something real simple before I gave up.

  • [Solved] Yaourt doesn't install dependencies?

I'm trying to get yaourt to install netflix-desktop and after asking if i want to edit PKGBUILD it states the dependencies.  The first few are already installed, but then it hits the ones that are not on the system. Problem is that it states that it is "building from AUR" for all of them, but when I get to installing netflix-desktop, it says they are not found.  Do i seriously have to manually go through all dependencies and install them?
There must be a way to get yaourt to install them by itself.

    Here is the output:
    [xxxx@arch ~]$ yaourt -S netflix-desktop
==> Downloading netflix-desktop PKGBUILD from AUR...
    x NetflixIcon.png
    x netflix-desktop.install
    x netflix-desktop.desktop

You can ignore the fixme: errors, they're just informative and do not affect netflix. What is the wine-silverlight version you are running ?
    Comment by kjslag (2013-11-16 23:06)
I was using wine-silverlight 1.7.5-2. I just upgraded to 1.7.6-1 and now it works. thanks!

Is there any way to stop it from starting @compholio.com. Changing the homepage isn't working.
    Comment by anish (2013-11-18 22:36)
@kjell Yes. Change line 29 in /usr/bin/netflix-desktop to whatever you like, or launch netflix-desktop as :
    netflix-desktop URL="www.foo.com"

@anish Thanks, I have it changed to netflix.com now.
