[Solved] pppd will only connect once
Hi,
I am running a fully updated Arch box as a router with a PPPoA connection. The ppp daemon starts up fine when the box first boots but any subsequent connection attempts (either by the persistent argument or using a bash script) cannot connect the ppp connection. My daemon.log shows the following when a second connection attempt is made:

With the IPCP and discard line being repeated around 20 times.
I guess something is being sent out of order, but this only ever happens if I am trying to connect the pppd for a second time. A reboot cures the problem suggesting it is something to do with my box.

There's no problem with the first connection but it is to my ISP and occasionally they randomly disconnect me (usually early hours of the morning) I assume to cycle IPs or something.

The initial IP is obtained from the ISP via DHCP when initiating the ppp connection. The ppp config is set to obtain it on initiation of the ppp connection.
If it helps, after the 20 IPCP rejections the connection terminates like so:

To me that looks like my router is restarting the connection, receiving a conf-request but then discarding it as out of order...

If it it says turn off FIndMyiPhone then:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

My iphone 4s will only connect to my home network.
My iphone 4s will only connect to my home network. Any other I join (eg:starbucks) internet says connection error. Even though the phone says it's connected.
Since I have upgraded the the latest iOS in my iPhone 4S , this problem started and eventually the white button for Wi-fi stopped working. The one day before switching off the phone , I took out the SIM and reset the Networking and didn't switch on. Then I wrapped the phone with tissue paper and kept it in the deep refrigerator for 25 to 30 minutes and after cleaning frosty layer, I turned on the phone.... Somehow the Wi-fi button started working and the Wi-fi network too. Then only I inserted the SIM . Magic..!! My phone is still working fine . But I have to do this process once or twice a month every time Wi-fi stops working. Good luck my friend....hope you get benefitted !!

IPhone 5 will only charge once dead
Hey everyone, I've got an issue that I can't seem to find any forum posts about anywhere.
My iPhone 5 will only charge once it is completely dead. If it is not, I get a message displaying "This accessory is not supported by this device," (or something along those lines), or nothing happens at all. Once it is completely dead, I can charge it, but if I take the charger out before it's fully charged it won't begin to charge again until it's dead. Even if I turn the phone off and charge it, it does not charge while off unless dead.
What I've already tried:
- Different chargers (5 of them, 3 different charger blocks, and charging from my laptop, both Apple and third party)
- Resetting all settings to factory default
- Going to the Apple Store. They would not touch my phone because I replaced my own screen with a non-Apple piece
Any ideas?? Please help.
NOTE: I cannot update to the newest iOS as I cannot connect to iTunes until this problem is fixed.If changing out the charging unit and the cable doesn't work, bring the phone to Apple for evaluation

I just got the iPhone 5 and noticed that the message alerts will only alert once . I have it set up as 3 times and its not working . Please help. I'm running 6.0.2 and I really starting to get ****** off with apple products
Instead of getting annoyed, read the User's Guide and try basic troubleshooting.

Did you mean the WLan encryption which secures the entry to the wireless LAN?
I suppose you have set the encryption (WPA, WEP, etc...) on your WLan router but didnt configure the WLan card.
Well, in my opinion you should check which WLan encryption does the card support and then choose it on the WLan router. The encryption key should be set on the router and on the notebook! -
FaceTime call to my iMac will only ring once then hang up and won't let me answer. How do I make it ring more times? I can call my iphone 4 from the imac with no problem but when I call my imac from my phone, it won't let me answer.

After updating to mavericks, facebook will only load once in a while. The blue bar goes part way and just stops and does nothing. Never had this problem before. So far facebook is the only site I have had a problem with.
You can also try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

My AirPort will only connect to my MacBook. It won't let anything else connect
Just purchaed this AirPort 2 days ago. It will only let me connect my MacBook but I cannot connect my smart tv and iPhone to it. I've unplugged the modem. I've reset the modem. I've unplugged the AirPort. I've even reset my iPhone and still nothing. ***!!!!!! PLEASE ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GRATELY APPRECIATED!!!!!

Be sure that you have a known good Ethernet cable going from the Ethernet port on the Motorola modem to the WAN (circle of dots) port on the Time Capsule. Also be sure that you do not have anything connected to the modem's USB port.
Even though I know that you tried a number of resets, please give the following a try:
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
Power-up your computer(s).
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results. -
My imac (2 yrs old) will not connect to my home wifi with the exception of my ISP hotspot. All other devices are fine (iphone, ipad etc). I have changed my ISP recently and this issue has never happened before. I am with my current ISP for about 7 weeks and this was not an issue for the first 2/3 weeks. Went through the usual set up procedures but alas...nothing. Message states unable to join network! Don't think it is an ISP issue as all other devices work perfect...or is it? As I said It did work at the start, but no longer. I recently moved to NJ from Ireland, so my imac is a European model (don't think that makes a difference?) I can only presume it is the settings on the imac. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thx
Hi - out of action for a few days. To answer your questions:
- and click on Advanced and make sure everything is correct - all in order
- Also check on your router's website to make sure the iMac is recognized there - it IS NOT recognized here as other devices are
- do you by chance have your router set up to do Mac filtering? - i don't know..how do I check?

Running QT (latest version) on a WinXPsp2 machine.
Every time we run QT content from a website, it will run once but not run again. There is no error, just unresponsiveness. If we close the browser and reacquire the webpage, it works again ... once. Updating did not help.
Any ideas?Unfortunately this will not help you much, but I discovered this problem on my XP Media Center box AND my Vista laptop. It happened around the same time. All of a sudden, QT movies would only play once. I'd close the browser and it would work again, just once. I use Safari and Firefox as well...guess what, they both work fine. So there is a work around...don't use IE. I do get a QT plugin error though, it says the plugin did not initialize. Seeings that it used to work fine and stopped on both machines at the same time, I'm assuming it was some update, but using Safari or Firefox is quicker and easier than troubleshooting IE...

Xbox 360 slim will only connect to wireless-G interface on WRT160N
Hello there:
I purchased a new Xbox360 Slim about a month ago. Before that, in prevision of my new console's wireless capabilities I went ahead and changed my old WRT54G (1.1) for a wireless-N enabled WRT160N router.
When I first plugged the console in it was a nightmare to configure the wireless settings..... It would NOT connect, in any possible way... And when I finally made a connection it just dropped after aproximately 1 hour (I think it had something to do with WPA key renewal, if you must ask) I updated the firmware and everything was smooth again. BUT! it only connects on wireless-G.... I've got the router set on "Mix" so it accepts my notebooks 802.11-G and my 360 wireless N, but it just detects the router in G mode and connects that way....
I've tried EVERYTHING, but nothing works.
It connects just fine, I even get open NAT on the console, and play online with no apparent problems, but I need wireless N because the router and 360 are too separated, and the signal tends to get low. Also I usually stream 1080p content so I need more bandwidth.
I tried setting the router to "only wireless N" but then the console just won't connect, says it "can't connect to the wireless hardware"
I haven't been able to test other wireless-N hardware, so I don't really know if it's the router's fault, the console's or it's just they're not compatible...
Any tips?

OMG, I can't believe it..... It's NOT a wireless N malfunction.... it has to do with security..... I had WPA Personal as my authentification method.... Under Mixed works like a charm, and everything connects, but the Xbox just connects on wireless G. Under Wireless-N only, it just won't connect. But I tried disabling security, and it just connected on wireless N!
Now I've switched to WPA2 personal.... it connects perfectly on Wireless N even if I set the router to "Mixed" and both channel and radio band to auto.
My issue is solved, however, I still got to know is:
Why won't it connect while WPA is selected? -
My computer will only connect to secure websites.
For some reason, I can only connect to websites that have https (no http or www sites).
What happens if you try to use non-secure web sites? Is there an error message or do you just get a blank web page?
